Tecra A4 fluctuating wireless.

I have a new Tecra A4 and a BT Voyager 2100 router.

I had the router for some time and never had a problem using it with any products before, I have other laptops that connect to it and can use it without any problem.

However my new A4 seems to have 'questions' to a clean boot, with no applications running, a ping to the router can fluctuate from 1 ms to expired and all points between. The speed of the network can also fluctuate from 54 Mbit/s to 1 Mbit/s and also often loses the connection.

As I say, other devices with the same network configuration do not have this problem and the distance between the router doesn't seem to be a factor either, as happens in the same way in any room of the House. I've removed the other sources of interference, I tried to change the network type / speed / channel and the problem persists. Im not sure what else to try, can someone point me in the right direction please?

Hello

Is a wireless card disabled when you use Bluetooth? You can turn it off using the FN + F8 key combination. Disable the wireless connection while using Bluetooth. Maybe it helps.

    Hello

The icon in the toolbar with a red cross?

Well buddy, have you checked if the WLan card is properly recognized in Device Manager?
Usually a first step to clarify if the wireless card is ok or if something breaks down.
In the device-> network card Manager, you should see the wireless network card.
If there is a yellow exclamation point, then try to update the WLan driver.

If the driver has been installed correctly and there is no yellow exclamation mark then the next step would be checking the settings of network connections.

Check if the wireless network connection is enabled (Start button-> settings-> network connection)

    Check it out!

  • Tecra M2 and wireless network - signal strength problem

    Need advice buying wireless kit.

I have a DSL phone line connection and I am currently using a Speedtouch USB modem connected to my workstation down.

I have a laptop Toshiba Tecra M2 with construction of wireless support. I want to be able to share the internet connection which comes in the workstation down. I guess that my options for the workstation are to use a DSL wireless modem to share the internet connection or to use a PCI card in my computer. I tried them both.

I first tried to set up an infra mode network with the laptop using a LinksysWAG54G which was connected to the telephone line and a computer. But the problem with that I was t couldn't do accept the subnet mask that my ISP (Lixxus) provided 255.255.255.255 (PPoA). This modem has all the masks of SN in a dropdown list, but mine isn't in this list. I returned this modem.

I tried then set up an adhoc network purchase buy a PCI Wireless card for my desktop, and internet connection sharing etc. on the workstation. However, while it worked, and I could see the desktop of my laptop, the problem has been the wireless range. The signal disappear when I wore the laptop in the back room on the first floor. It would have been a distance of 10 meters in a straight line between the laptop and desktop. There are walls two bricks and a floor between the two machines. It seemed hopeless, so I sent the PCI card.

I'm not sure what to try next.

Any suggestions that I could try next?

    Hello

I have the same situation at home. The best solution for this is to use the wireless router. Here you have the possibility to connect several computers desktop or laptop. In this case the configuration of wireless connection is very easy and it works fine. I also use it at home and in front of my house with no problems.

One of the photos shows the network cards and it seems that your Tecra supports processors Intel 2200 802.11 B/G WLan card

Go to Device Manager and check if the WLan Intel 2200 card is recognized.

If it s not, install the driver WLan Intel (Intel PRO/Wireless 2200/2915) which can be found here:

  • BOUNCING Tecra M11 - 11K wireless signal

    Hi all

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with a Tecra M11 - 11K running on the latest service pack of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

In it, the wireless tends to disconnect sporadically, no matter how clean the signal is WAP, or what type of encryption. All the other machines work very well and it has the same behavior when using hotspots public or closed...

We also tried to use the latest drivers provided by Intel, nothing helps.
The machine also has a system to install.

Clues or tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Have you tried to deactivate the energy saving function?
Windows 7 power management offers various options in order to save the battery.

If this may affect the Wlan functionality.
Please check the Windows 7 power management and disable the Wlan to save energy.

Also you can go to-Wlan card-> Advanced tab > Device Manager and could check the available options.
I can't tell exactly what options are available, because it depends on the Wlan card.

  • Tecra M11 - capacity wireless turns off by itself

I have a Tecra M11 who likes to turn off its wireless capability. It will sometimes go days without doing it, but for example today it did not less than 3 times. He's going to lose contact with my wireless network and when I go to reconnect I see that because the wireless feature is turned off there is no network available. When windows (windows 7 64 bit) allows to solve the problem, he tells me to "turn wireless capability" and if I jump it offers that I plug in an ethernet cable. I checked the physical switch on the front of the computer and also WiFi accessible by the Fn keys toggle switch, the two have no effect on the conviction of my computer that wireless capability is turned off.

My old tecra M9 has also done this, but I didn't expect my other (one month) to do the same thing. I can fix this problem by restarting the computer, but I'm looking for a permanent solution.

    Thanks in advance

    > My old tecra M9 has also done this, but I didn't expect my other (one month) to do the same thing. I can fix this problem by restarting the computer, but I'm looking for a permanent solution.

I think that this is not a problem of WiFi for laptop, but I think that it s related to the WLan router because you had the same problem with Tecra M9.
I recommend updating the firmware on the router first. In addition, you must reconfigure the router again. You will need to play with a different option like the use of different channels of WLan, Wlan encryption, etc.

    Good luck

  • Tecra A3 - Creative wireless mouse does not work

My Creative wireless mouse does not work while the touchpad is installed.

Even if I turn off the touch pad, the seal of the mouse does not work.

Anyone know how to fix this?

    Thank you
    R.P.

    Hello

On this path, it is not easy to say what the problem is. I guess you have some software installations to your external device. Install it and it should work.

As much I know external mouse functionality does not depend on the touchpad settings.

  • Tecra A8 - no wireless connection

Normally, I work through a network cable connected to my router. But today, I figured that my without wire was down, due to problems with another wireless device, so I switched wireless (say better that I took out the network cable and normally the computer should go wireless (in other words, the setting I made))

But this time, no connection. I first thought that my router has had a problem, but who turns out be a problem in the other wireless device that is easily fixed. So, I know that wireless should work fine.

In the past, I could pass between the cable and wireless without problem. As much as I'm sure that nothing is changed (at least by me and I'm the only one not working on my laptop).

When I check the radar of wireless lan my router is the most powerful and closest to the router (as it should because it is 1.5 meters from my laptop).
But every time I have to create a connection in the radar between my laptop and the router in the following dialog box appears: ConfigFree - sell another application is controlling the wireless card.

Can someone help me fix to correct this?

    Hello!

This problem is caused if you have a program installed that controls the WLAN settings.

As Akuma said remove the utility from the Intel Wireless (not the driver). It would be the easiest way, then you should connect via a WLAN.

If you have problems make an update of the WLAN card driver.

    Good bye

  • Cannot connect Tecra 9000 to wireless network

    Hello

I am trying to connect my laptop Toshiba T9000 to my BT home Hub 2.0 Wireless v but a little difficulty.
The laptop recognizes the hub, but every time I click on connect, I get the same message.

""Windows cannot connect to the selected network. " The network can be is no longer in range. Please refresh the list of available networks and try to connect again"

I went through a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this problem, but always without success.
Can I update the driver? My inclination is that this may have something to do with the laptop is not able to support WPA?

I am not very computer but if anyone has any additional input to help me with this question then I would be very happy.

    Kind regards
    Answer by quoting

    > Can I update the driver? My inclination is that this may have something to do with the laptop is not able to support WPA?
    This may be possible

The point is that this laptop is an oldie and the wireless network adapter appears to be old too.
I ve no idea what WLan card you have, but you could try to connect to the WLan without use of encryption settings. Disable encryption on the router Wlan and test connectivity again. of course, this must be done only for testing purposes
The wireless network must be always secure

The alternative could be the use of external USB WLAN, it would be the easiest and fastest way for that to be resolved

  • Tecra R10-111: cannot install the Wireless Manager

    Hey guys,.

don't know why, but when I install the Manager wireless on my Tecra R10-111 Wireless Manager can be started, but not a second later, the program ends. The only option I have is to accept and put an end to the program press OK.

I have two versions of win7 on my laptop.

1 is the original version of Toshiba Win7 OEM, who has been on the laptop.
--> Here, it works without probs
    --> All updated etc.

    2. is it a full Version of Win7 bought and downloaded in a microsoft store.
--> Here it doesn't work anymore!
    --> All updated etc.

Earlier Versions of the Wireless Manager has worked in two partitions with Win Vista and for some time, I remember that he has worked with both versions of Win7.

What is the problem with that? Toshiba has to provide updates and drivers that work with any version of Win7 and not only with the OEM Toshiba.

    Any suggestions?

    See you soon

    > What is it with this? Toshiba has to provide updates and drivers that work with any version of Win7 and not only with the OEM Toshiba.

Do you think that it is a problem of the tool?
This seems to work on Toshiba pre-installed OS, so it cannot be a question of tool!

Maybe a part of the software is missing on the MS Win 7 own

  • Windows 7 wireless connection problem

I just bought a brand new Alienware m17x and all drivers are up to date... .IM with broadcom wireless network adapter. The strange thing is that last night I was on the internet for several hours without any problem using the wireless, but this morning iwas unable to use my wireless internet access. This has happened several times now. Sometimes it says "not connected - no available connections" and sometimes he says "not connected connections are available" when she says, links, I try to connect to the network, but it says "unable to connect to the network. The only time wherever I was able to connect to wireless internet, was when my computer is automatically connected to my wireless network without me having to select the network and attempt to connect. I read things about windows 7, with a mode of "sleeper" for wireless connections or something, and that can be the cause of it and that it is better to turn off or downgrade to xp. I am really frustrated because I am not able to connect wirelessly and I hope you guys can help me find a solution.

Guide to correctly troubleshoot wireless M17x
    with Dell Wireless 1510/Broadcom card
    by Glzmo

Since many new Alienware M17x all powerful users, especially those who use Windows 7 as operating system there are various problems with their Wi - Fi connection and post threads asking how their difficulty over and over again, I decided to write this guide to show them how to solve these issues properly Commons. The solutions in this guide were created and designed for 64-bit Windows 7, but they may also work in Windows Vista, although these problems were experienced by users of Windows 7 mainly in the past. It could very well be that the problems start occurring in Vista as well with the new drivers and Windows updates.

    I. may not connect to the wireless network and or see the wireless adapter when the Ethernet cable is disconnected
If you sometimes or always unable to connect to the wireless network, cannot connect to the wireless network when the Ethernet cable is disconnected, unable to connect to a wireless network unless you restart once to get this work and other weird problems to be unable to connect to a wireless network continue with section II. Otherwise, continue with section II..

Sleep of a.i. Disable on disconnect device
Some new Nvidia Ethernet drivers have a function called sleep device to disconnect. This is the culprit. Normally, it should only put the card Ethernet to sleep when the cable is disconnected, but it is buggy and thus kill the wireless connection as well.
Follow these steps to disable this feature on your Ethernet Nvidia card:

    1. open the Device Manager of Windows by pressing Win + break, and then click on Device Manager on the left side.
    2 double-click network adapters.
3 double click on NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (Yes, that's indeed wired Ethernet adapter).
4 click on the Advanced tab.
5 select sleep on disconnect device.
6 set the value to disabled.
7 click OK and wireless should work again (may require a reboot later, but probably not).

I.b. install different drivers (older) who do not have the device sleeping on disconnect feature.
The above does not work or if you are not comfortable with these drivers, follow these steps (if step A.i. was successful, you will not need to follow these steps). Take care to create a system restore point before proceeding:
    1. click the Windows Start button in the taskbar.
    2 click on Control Panel.
3 click on uninstall a program.
4 in the list, double-click Nvidia drivers.
    5. Mark Remove only the following.
6 in the box below, only check the Nvidia Network driver.
7 click Remove and follow the uninstall instructions.
8 restart the system, if you are prompted to.
9 download another (older) driver from Nvidia.
    10 install the old driver.
11 when asked what drivers you want to install, select only the network driver.
12 follow the installation instructions and restart your system if prompted.

II. Low or fluctuating wireless connection speeds
If you have problems with WiFi low connection speeds (such as rates decline over time, the speeds are much lower than they should be, network lag/stutter in online games, loss of light packets, loss of internet connection as LAN works and other weird things) or speeds of fluctuating wildly without apparent reason wireless connection install the version of the Dell Wireless 5.60.18.8 drivers instead of the standard Broadcom drivers. All older drivers will usually cause the speed of connection under normal. Note, however, that you may need to install the driver manually via Device Manager as the pilot was not released for another laptop and is not officially available to the M17x yet - that's why the installer won't work. Take care to create a system restore point before proceeding.
Here is a step by step how manually install the driver:

    1. download the drivers Dell Wireless 5.60.18.8.
2 check out the R29128.exe file using an extraction utility like WinRAR or just run it and quit the installation program.
    3. open the Device Manager of Windows by pressing Win + break, and then click on Device Manager on the left side.
    4 double-click network adapters.
5 double-click the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter entry.
6 click on the driver tab.
7 click the button Update driver .
8 click Browse my computer for driver software.
9 click on Let me take form a list of drivers for devices on my computer.
10 click the disk provided .
    11 click Browse.
    12. select the folder that you extracted the drivers you just downloaded in step 1. in.
13 select the subfolder DRIVER_US (if you are in the United States), DRIVER_JP (if you are in the Japan) or DRIVER_ROW (if you are in the rest of the world), according to the region you are in.
14 click on the Open button.
    15 click OK.
16 select the driver that says Dell Wireless 1510 Wireless-N WLAN Mini-Card of the list (you may have to scroll down to see - it presents itself as second to the last in the list for me).
17 click on the Next button.
18 you will get a warning that the driver that you are about to install is not compatible with your hardware. Ignore the warning and proceed with the driver installation.
19 restart your system if prompted to do so.
20 your new driver should now be properly installed and the speed of your wireless connection in the order.

III. If all else fails (or you've just had enough of boredom arising from the Dell Wireless 1510/Broadcom card)
Replace the Dell Wireless 1510 problem with a card half-mini Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300 A/G/N (use the bluetooth as the third antenna antenna or buy you an additional antenna for this). It works very well with the M17x, has better connection speeds to strips of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (this last has speeds really bad on the Broadcom/1510), it has not required to jump through the hoops to make it work properly and much more, it works with standard drivers and Intel maintains their drivers up to date. It is also much more reliable and faster as well, especially on the 5 GHz band, but also on the 2.4 GHz band.

For more information on the subject of tweaking the settings of your Dell Wireless card, check out the official setting advanced properties: Dell Wireless WLAN Card User Guide.

I hope that this guide will help you solve your Wi - Fi connection and allow you to enjoy speeds of complete wireless connection on your laptop Alienware M17x.
