Tecra A4 noisy display card

Hi all

I am currently facing a very disconcerting problem on my Tecra A4. It has an ATI X 300 128 MB GPU.

With maximum hardware acceleration turned on, I get continuous high sound tone every time that some parts of the screen changes. For example, if I drag a window around the screen, I hear this all the time.

It worsens a lot a lot when I run graphics intensive games. For example, when a 3D graphics benchmark program was running, the sound is just unbearable.

For purposes of normal work, I can reduce the noise by turning off graphics hardware acceleration. However, for games, it is impossible!

Please advise what the problem might be and what I can do to solve. It's the replacement laptop that the company sent me the first was dead on arrival

Thank you.

Wishes
Khim.

Hello

did you search for the Toshiba site for an update of the driver?
I can't tell you what to do because this device is very new!
In my opinion, you can make a single step (to be different if it's hard - or software).
Save all your important data and do a full restore of the system. Then search for the driver on the Toshiba site updates and try to play a game. If the problem is still there, you have a hardware or driver problem.
For an update of the driver, you will need to wait until what Toshiba give him!
Sorry!

does anyone know how can I disable the shortcut of screen rotation?

    Concerning

I put t know exactly how to do this on your Tecra, but this option must be available in the Advanced display settings.

Also graphics card settings check (for example the NVIDIA settings).

  • Tecra 9000 - no display on the LCD screen when you turn on

I recently got a Tecra 9000 for cheap on eBay. I am experienced with the construction and repair of computers, but not so with laptops.

The problem with this laptop, it's that do not display on the LCD screen when you turn on. It was just black, no backlight, nothing. I took the laptop all share, found no obvious problem. I had to turn it on and the screen lights up a few times trying to figure out the problem. Would it be a bad connection? Or something else?

After getting it to start work, I'll try to start to put it back together and it stopped working again. I haven't not been able to reduce it to know if it's a bad connection or a card problem.

Someone at - it suggestions? This is a problem for others here?

As you describe the issue, I think it is somehow a bad connection or a damaged cable, because it does not work once you have disassembled the screen.
Maybe you need to check all the cables, leading motherboard to the LCD and take a close look, maybe for a few scratches or strong curvature.

  • Tecra 730XCDT size display - possible to repair problem?

In 1024 × 768, the screen is full, but change to 800 × 600 and 640 × 480, the visible screen shrinks a bit and drastically in that order. Is it possible to get a screen resolution less than completely fill the display area?
I already have the BIOS to stretch the text, but there is no parameter to stretch the graphics.

If anyone has had this work, they can send me the name of the driver file, and I'll hopefully find somewhere to install it?

Sorry mate but could you please start with some details by providing more information about your model Tecra and preinstalled Windows system?

The XCDT series seems to be old and I mean very, very old post so not quite sure if the community would be able to help you, however, please the information required above.

  • Tecra R950 - 16L - display sometimes dark rest under tension

    Hello

I have a Tecra R950 - 16L for about 3 months now, everything works fine. Since a few days, I now the problem that sometimes, especially after I transported the laptop before, the internal screen is black after that I turn on the laptop.

Blindly, I can type my password and see the disk activity that windows probably begins, but none is displayed.

After I move the laptop and shake a little sometimes it works again and the computer remains work until I move the laptop again (at least this is what seems to make the effect occur).

Seems to me like a connector loose on the screen or something like that?

Is it possible to fix this on my own?
I need my cell phone all the time and do not want to send it for repair if it is not not 100% necessary.

    What do you suggest me?

    Michael Czierwitzki

    > Seems to me like a connector loose on the screen or something like that?

Yes, it seems that there is a bad connection or maybe something wrong with the sensor cover.

    > Is it possible to fix this on my own?
    I don t think so.
You would need to check what's wrong exactly. Once this has been verified, you would need to disassemble the laptop and it's not easy. Finally and above all you need compatible parts to replace the affected hardware I put t would think that you can do

    > I should I my laptop all the time and do not want to send it for repair if it is not not 100% necessary.
Well, you could ask the Toshiba authorized service provider for details and how long such repair would take.

You will find here all the FSA all over the world:

  • Tecra A9 - LCD display very Dim

    Hi all!

My Tecra A9 age of 4 years has recently developed a problem with the screen. While using it, I heard a zap and the cut screen. He has not worked since. I was able to plug it into an external to continue monitor to use it even if.

But I found that the screen is not actually dead, its just very dim. If I look closely and shine a torch above, I can see what is on the screen. Which leads to believe me its something to do with the backlight of the LCD screen.

Also, I checked, and this isn't a problem with the sensor thinks the lid is closed.

In any case, I would like to know if anyone has an idea on what the problem is specifically? If so, is the kind of problem that I can fix myself or do I need someone from Toshiba to do for me?

    Thank you!

    Hi Matt89,

I agree with Akuma. If an external monitor works, it looks like that the FL inverter is faulty. This inverter controls the backlight of the internal display and even it would be defective you can see the picture but very very dark.

If think the best would contact an authorized service provider. Guys can order a FL original inverter which is compatible and replaces it for you because the screen itself must be dismantled, and that's not easy.

If your laptop isn't under warranty gift more worry because FL inverter is not so expensive. :)

  • Tecra M5 NVS graphics card adapter

    Hello

My question is simple: can I change my Tecra (NVS 110) with an another NVS graphics card?
    If "Yes" how?

    Any help will be apreciated.

    M

No, you can not replace or upgrade of the chip of the graphics card.
This is not possible because the graphics card chips are not extensible parts.

You should check the FAQ here box in the forum.
I found here a nice article that explains it.

The technology of the laptop is simply different and in most cases only the common areas like RAM or HARD drive can be improved.

    Cheers mate

  • Tecra M3 dark display, checked the usual problems

    Hello

My M3 went dark, it flickered on and off for about a week and then completely dark. I still work if I get the right angle and an external monitor is fine.

If haven't tried a new cable from the screen, no difference and a new inverter, also no difference.

Sometimes if I switch between views (Fn + F5) I can get the display works fine, but as soon as the screen is turned off for some reason it won't once again.

I also re-greased the heatsink on the NVidia chip.

And I checked the backlight by plugging a converter working on another laptop.

I have a M1 and there is a relay type sound when something has changed on the screen, I can't remember if the M3 never makes a similar sound, even if I used it for about 5 years.

I also saw that he suggested that he might think that the cover is closed, I don't know how the M3 detects that the lid is closed.

Any suggestion or help would be welcome.

    > My M3 went dark, it flickered on and off for about a week and then completely dark. I still work if I get the right angle and an external monitor is fine.

This means that the graphics card chip was Ok, which means that it could be a display problem
I doubt that it ups s related question. If FL inverter would be defective, then you'd see everything on the screen, but everything would be visible behind a thick fog.

Of course, it s that my personal opinion and nobody would be able to tell what dysfunction part without running any hardware, test procedures
Then maybe you should ask a support technician

  • Tecra M2 - update VGA card

    Thank you

    Hello

As much as I know this notebook applies to a graphics card nVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 with 32 MB or 64 MB of video ram. But you cannot upgrade the video card or the speed of the CPU. The only thing you can do is buy devices such as hard disks in option or memory Modules.

  • Tecra M7: Vista display driver (NVidia NVS110)

    Hello!

I was wondering if someone else encounter the following issues, which I believe are linked to the display driver.

    1. black screen after the release of the mode standby (no hibernation). The solution I found is to close and reopen the lid (assuming that you have not any operation assigned to closing the lid). But it's really "fun", this back when you are in tablet mode.

    2. the other - that I just found-seems more serious. I can't get the external VGA connector to work. Even after setting up so I can see an office empty on the other monitor, just move any window on the desktop results in a mess on this screen (as synchronization signal is lost or something). And it is with a single monitor, while my other one does not recognize the signal at all.

Has ANYONE else try to use the external screen on Tecra M7 on Windows Vista (32-bit)?

The latest Vista driver available for this laptop is 98.13 version, while the latest ForceWare is 100,65 (stable since February). I found some info that the first problem I described is a known bug in the nvidia drivers, and it has BEEN fixed in this version. Unfortunently this driver package from NVidia does not support the NVS110M. When can we expect Toshiba to make the point?

I had the same problem with the external display. I solved it by downloading the latest version of the BIOS (v3.2) on Toshiba Canada website. It was a bit of a risk, as the model numbers are different, but I can say that it fixes this problem and I can now work with external monitors very well.
