Tecra A8 - no CPU max speed under the "full power" profile of PowerSaver

Hello world

My Tecra A8-S8514 (Core 2 Duo T7200 @ 2 GHz) has this problem: when I put the PowerSaver profile to 'Full Power' of the CPU sets his speed at 1.4 GHz.
My company has purchased 2 of the A8 and testing has been replicated in the second laptop, which leads me to believe that there is a bug with the PowerSaver application instead of a faulty hardware.

The Toshiba helpline ignore the fact that the 2 laptops have the same problem, insisted that I should do a system restore and it does not solve the problem so take it to a service center. There was no way 'experts' would admit the application could be evil and submit an application for the programmers so that they can test and engineer a fix.

Please someone else with a Tecra A8-S8514 can test this? I used the utility Intel Processor and a free benchmark called GeekBench.

Thanks in advance!

Hello

I don t think that the Toshiba Power saver is defective.
To my knowledge, these tools are tested a lot of time and should work fine.

In your case, I recommend to check settings in the Toshiba HWSetup.
You'll find the CPU tab.

There, you should check if the frequency of the processor dynamic Mode is set to high or dynamically switch able or always low. These settings may have an influence on the speed of the CPU.

Best regards

  • Tecra A11 speed on the fan at 100% all the time

Hi, one of my colleagues has a new notebook Tecra A11. I've recently updated the bios to version 2.60 and since then the fan is constantly at full speed. Before the update it would be noticeable when the laptop has been widely used, but would slow down when idle. Anyone else seen/had this problem? I wouldn't mind flashing back to the old bios but can not see available on the web site of tosh.

    Thank you

    Hello

In your case, I recommend setting the BIOS to the default value.
You can do it in the BIOS. Insofar as I'm sure you could get press F9 default.
But the option is mentioned in BIOS to verify this.

In addition, I recommend changing the CPU and cooling module in Windows Power Options.

This should help to reduce the speed of the cooling fan.

  • Operating at max speed CPU fan

    Greetings,

I have a frined of mine has a problem with his pc which is the cpu fan works as max speed 3800 RPM even when cpu temp at 40 or 50 c or even less than 40 years. I used air can clean the radiator, and now I think of take out and apply new thermal paste.

After using the PC for a long time it start freezing.

    What could cause this?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi, AOG,.

Reset the bios to default values (including all the bios profiles) and delete all the utilities of the could adjust the speed of the fan.  The overclocking utility is an example that could change the fan curve.

    Use the stock Intel heatsink?

Try a couple of different temperature, followed problems to ensure that the CPU temperature is correct. CoreTemp, PC Wizard and real Temp might be good choices.  Some temporary programs are known to be buggy.

Check the level of the bios of the motherboard against what has been posted.

  • Tecra S3: > 50% CPU power to the driver NVidia (DAAC)

    Hello

I just installed my new Tecra S3 and found that the fan was working most of the time. When I analyzed the processes running on the machine (using Process Explorer from www.sysinternals.com) I found that a lot of time was spent on the DPC. There are deferred procedure calls that are normally called by a driver when a piece of hardware to generate an interrupt hardward.

This problem (the DPC taking over 50% of the CPU power) goes away when I uninstall the NVidia driver.

Someone of you (have a Tecra S3 or similar) has the same kind of problems, or now a solution?

    Hello Eddy

Are you using a designed Toshiba graphics card driver?
I use Tecra M1 and have no problem with the use of the processor, even if many different processes are active.
Thank you for using the Toshiba driver because they are design and for the units. Other pilots could damage the components of the laptop

  • Satellite P300D - CPU still works on the highest speed with XP

    Hello

    I bought a Satellite P300D with processor AMD QL. (P300D-211, PSPDCE-02K00WGR)

For my work, I needed to install Win XP. ID installed the CPU-, chipsetdriver and energy savings, but the processor is still in the fastest speed of avaibel (2, 1 GHz). If the fan is very noisy.
However, there is also no effect I chose in the Toshiba Power Saver the CPU speed... The CPU always runs with 2.1 GHz, even I chose the 'Step 1' fix CPU clock frequency.

Someone at - it an idea how to fix this?

    Greatings Fabian in German

    Hello!

Do you also have this problem with version preinstalled Windows or only with your own version of Windows XP?

And where did you download the drivers? You should only use the drivers from the Toshiba site to ensure that everything will work on the laptop:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers
Check this box if you have all the drivers installed laptop you can find on the Toshiba site.

Last but not least, I would try to update the BIOS. You can find it on the Toshiba site too.

  • Equium L20-264: can I unlock the options in the Bios to change the speed of the CPU & FSB

I have a toshiba equium l20-264 today and I was wondering if I can open it the options in the bios to change the cpu speed and the speed of the fsb.

But if you don't don't do this, I already have a Dell Xps laptop Overclcoked to 4.5 ghz (twisted majorly) and I installed today a very powerful cooler and heatsink of heat inside my laptop, I'm ready to overclock bu ti do not know if I can via bios but if so could you point me to guides for a code name overclocking intel celeron m 360 : DOTHAN

    Help, please

    regards James...

    Hello

Unfortunately, this is not possible on the laptop.

I o year owner of 3 different computers; two laptops and a desktop PC. The BIOS on the desktop is different and allows to change and increase the CPU. But the laptops BIOS does not allow to do something similar.

Why? Because the CPU overclocking would increase the internal temperature and make portable is not stable and perhaps that it would infringe the motherboards and CPU!
The notebooks run with maximum efficiency. If you compare the notebooks modules with cooling Office cooling modules you will see the difference!

Please don t waste your time and don t find any possibility to overclock the CPU and the FSB

It's terrible using CPUz, I see that, while the laptop is in charge, the clock speed down to 900 mhz and fluctautes between this and 1400 mhz, it's shocking, I can hardly Watch youtube videos or even post this thread, the LAG and slow is unbearable. When running on battery power, the speed of the CPU pulls up to 2500 mhz and stays there, it never seems to go to turbo speed either. • I tried many combinations of the different pc in order to transfer files from one pc to the other and only max speed I have is from 4 to 10 Mbps.

    Hello

I tried many combinations of the different pc in order to transfer files from one pc to the other and only max speed I have is from 4 to 10 Mbps.

I use the switch/cat6 cables only the router is capable of 100 Mbps.

Also, I connect the pc directly with cable and still the same speed.

Win7 will get more than that and how?

I read the other posts on this topic, but all patches are not applicable to me.

I used various cables and switches and PCs in order to eliminate the possibility of a defective unit.

    Can you please help?

    Thank you

  • Sudden drop in the speed of the CPU

I have a 3 years old Dell Precision M6600 with Windows 7. In recent months I have suffered sudden drops in the speed of the CPU. I executes calculations, which do not have any IO or graphics, simple calculations on large amounts of data (say, 8 GB), who are all and always in RAM, no paging is never involved.

I'm timing operations. Normally, an operation will take about 5 seconds. After a few hours, I noticed that the same operation on takes it even data 25 s check Task Manager shows whenever there is no other processes taking CPU, and this process takes 100% of CPU, occupying all of the 8 wires completely. I suspect overheating somewhere, so I bought a carpet of ventilation, and the computer is sitting on it during execution. Does not help. If I turn off the laptop for a few minutes, everything returns to normal - for a while.

I'm not running on battery, still on the charger.

Could you recommend a utility that can show a detailed diagnosis of the computer while it is running, including the temperature of components, etc.

    Thank you.

CPUid utility will give you the temperature at various locations inside:

  • Accuracy of the speed of the cpu of the Simulator

I have a camera on my way to the test, but I'm curious to know if the speed of the cpu of the Simulator is even close to accurate.  I have a code displaying large images which works well on the Simulator, but I have a feeling he's going to get bogged down on the device.

Please let me know if anyone has experience with applications that are running at a different speed on device vs. Simulator.

    Thank you!

I don't know anything about the internals, but my own tests indicate that there is no relationship between performance on the Simulator and the device. Things like processing I/O vs. CPU do not have the same proportions, so you can not really see it. For features (it works) the Simulator is very good, of course.

    Tom

  • The features of the CPU is the most important? (Speed, nuclei, the size of the cache..?)

Looking at the processors for use with ESX/ESXi servers, which includes should be more important?

In other words, the wide range of available processors, which should better spent the money for a client?

Wouldn't be the frequency of the cpu, or the amount of nuclei, the sizes of cache, features like support for virtualization of hardware or any other things?

I'm not looking for a specific processor to buy at the moment, I'm just interested in the subject and that the considerations that could be made.

More GHz is better if several virtual machines with high CPU requirements, because each vCPU can run as fast as a physical core is running. So peak performance is limited by the speed of the CPU.

But if you must run MULTIPLE virtual machines, especially the virtual machines with multiple vCPUs and processors with core then most are the best choice.

More cache is better in all cases, but it costs money and generates more heat. Problem with the heat, it's true - for example HP BL460c G1, you can install 64 GB of RAM with processors of 80W and only 48 GB with some 120W CPUs.

  • Where I could see the speed of the CPU on a 4060 Sat

I have a 1999 Satellite 4060 XCDT model, when I go to 'my computer' then on 'System', it tells me I have a Pentium 2 and how many I have, but not the speed of the chip, RAM memory where / how can I find this (I know this is supposed to be a 333 mhz chip, but I have never seen this in fact in all menus)?

    Hello

I think it depends a bit on what operating system you use.
I guess this is not Windows XP, because the general tab in system properties would show you the speed of the processor. I have Office installed my unit o, if I click on HELP in the menu and then ABOUT I get a screen with a button "SYSTEM INFO". This button will take me to a summary of the material.
