  • How do I disassemble the Tecra 8100

I had power supply problems with my laptop recently a model of laptop Toshiba Tecra 8100 No.. PT810C.
The cap on the back for power was coming loose. It was firmly attached, but power on the laptop out, relying on the cord at the back in general would result in turn. It's probably just a connection not tight with only one hardware item, and I am currently disassemble the laptop, to see if the problem will be easy to fix.

Now, I already said, removed all the various material on the bottom which is detachable, more unscrewed the screws holding things together, but I hit a snag. I can't find where things are held together and do not have a good scheme to look to know. Does anyone know where I could patterns for these types of devices, or even a guide for anyone new to dismantling computers laptops?

And not to be rude, but please don't post any warnings on the dangers of the work on laptops or suggestions I have a professional working on it.

The value of the laptop is signifigantly less cost to ensure that the work, which means that is not an option, and even if I made a mistake and the ruin of the laptop, it is nothing more than a paperweight as it is currently.

    Hello

The problem is that a manual disassembly are not published by Toshiba :(
I think that these documents are not for public use and, therefore, it is really hard to find all the details.

  • Tecra A8: How to disassemble the keyboard?

I would like to disassemble the keyboard in my Tecra A8. Is there a guide to disassembly on the web?

    Hello

I don t think you will find all the manuals that describe the keypad by removing the procedure. These manuals are not official documents and only for the use of the partner service.

But to my knowledge the removal of keyboards is not very difficult.
There should be a thin cover above the keyboard. This coverage masks 2 screws holding the keyboard. You must remove the cover and screws cautious.
Then it should be possible to remove the keyboard.
But beware, the keyboard is connected with short, flat cable to the main Board.

  • Tecra M9 - PCI Express Error at startup

    Hello everyone...

    I have a Toshiba Tecra M9 (PTM91E-04R03TEN)

    http://www.Toshiba.IE/innovation/JSP/supportMyProduct.do?service=IE#TAB0;

Setting in motion,-wristwatch splach Toshiba and then "PCI Express error." screen on a black screen
I can't get beyond this black screen
and I can't get into the BIOS?

Once that he managed to start completely, let him turn for a while I record information from the HARD drive. but then, the problem started again.

In my view, that it is a problem with the nvidia GPU (in cycle Fatigue on the BGA) card
I have the stripted computer laptop down... and bought ArctiClean thermal Pad, & Arctic Silver for "repair".

Should I have someone analyze the material and find the troublemaker?... OR... should I just of reflow of the GPU.

I'm technical interest... but not a PC / laptop technician: (..)
any instructions on how to proceed would be received with gratitude...
Can I just "bung it in the oven" and see how it goes? :) :) .

    Kind regards
    Peter

    Hello

I found and read your other post regarding this problem and in my opinion the PCI Express error is related to a PCI device (i.e miniPCI module as WLan / Bluetooth, etc.) connected to the motherboard.

Of course I can't say for certain that this question isn't related to a GPU malfunction.
Usually, these details can be provided only by a technician who checked the laptop's hardware.

Usually I put t recommend to disassemble the laptop. It s very difficult to perform this procedure and of course there is always a risk of damage part do such procedure without any instructions.

  • Tecra 9100 comes on intermittently and turns off after 10-15 seconds

Referring to a Toshiba Tecra 9100, model No.: PT910E-602SF-FR

The power button normally doesn't light up at all, even if sometimes it starts normally, starts to load windows, then always turns off after 5 to 15 seconds in any case.

It always requires the batteries very well, but it won t turn on. I ve checked the ram, hard drive and I re - set the default bios - nothing prevents to cut if you can get it to turn on.

Any ideas what could be the problem? Any help appreciated, it s the second time I had - the same problem the last time!

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Have you already tried to clean the fan? Maybe a lot of dust blocking the fan for laptop can start t, and then turns off itself due to a higher temperature. It would be interesting to try to clean it.

But in my opinion, you've done everything you can do, and it looks like a malfunction of the motherboard. If cleaning using fan doesn t I think the motherboard is faulty or something else. If you are familiar with the disassembly of the laptop, you can try to fix it yourself with second hand parts. Otherwise it s time for a new laptop I think

I would like to know if you have a broken on those screen tecra A10, we could eliminate a screen from another similar machine that is faulty, but has an intact screen.

I guess you will need to search on the internet for some details how to disassemble the Tecra A10.

  • Tecra A9 won't boot up until I'm not going to put pressure on certain place

I have a problem with my PC toshiba laptop tecra a9.
It does not start normally when I press the power upward button, but in some cases, when I set the pressure at the bottom of the laptop (somewhere in the middle between the RAM and the CPU modules). [I'm pressing here somewhere, but both CPU and motherboard seems to be OK | http://i44.tinypic.com/1zzs0tg.jpg]

I disassembled the laptop several times, but I couldn't find anything about the cause, and I couldn't find the exact spot, because I didn't want to start while he was not assembled back.
When I turn on my laptop, the screen remains black, but HARD DRIVE control custom light normally and the CPU fan crazy at maximum speed until I turn the laptop off ("beep coming, but it's a pretty strange as sound, beep dying")
(don't know how to describe it, it's like I would have cut the power of the signal sound emitor and level wither away within 2 seconds).

However, if I do not put pressure at this place and it presents itself, it starts perfectly and resist not stable I turn it off. I can also suspend-to-ram, but if I close the lid, im unable to exert pressure on this spot when I open the lid.
So I can't suspend, close the lid, and then recover.

I think that this could be solved somehow avoid something in post-test or maybe theres a sensor (idk). I heard on the internet that it could be linked to the power supply inside the laptop which is not very well connected
[My symptoms are very similar as in this case | http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/01/02/toshiba-tecra-te2100-boot-problem/comment-page-20/]

Oh I forgot, I have this problem since the time when my daughter down my laptop on the ground of couch - like fall of 40cm (this is why I believe that some might contact had been damaged or something).
Thanks for any response or assistance.

    Hello

    > Oh I forgot, I have this problem since the time when my daughter down my laptop on the ground of couch - like fall of 40cm (this is why I believe that some might contact had been damaged or something).

It is difficult to tell what's exactly or what part is exactly.

I don't see any details that could be wrong on the picture

But the region on the motherboard that you have marked showing the CPU.

Maybe the CPU is not correctly connected to the plug. This could be due to the decline.

Perhaps it would be useful to remove the cooling module and CPU and check it again

  • Tecra M5 turn off randomly, but fans and the l.e.d remain on

First of all Hello to all,
I m new on this forum, because until now I had no problem with my laptop,
I hope that someone will be able to help with my problem,

    I have a Tecra M5 (PTM51E0N903JEN)
He has recently developed a fault where there is a slight click then the screen turns white and the fans at full speed, the led at the front will also stay on,
I only really use it on the grid with the battery inside,
without the power of the adapter to the battery lasts only about 10/15 minutes max.
the first start of the day, it can last from 10 minutes to 3 or 4 hours without freezing as cela, but after that he did once he continues to do so whenever I try to reboot or sometimes 5/10 minutes after I start windows xp,

If I play any games or anything that uses a lot of video memory, it seems to crash more quickly.

    Specs are below:

    Windows xp pro sp3,
    3 GB of ram,
    NVIDIA QUADRO NVS110M
All the drivers etc up to date,
All windows updates to day to day,

Does anyone have an idea what could cause this problem?

I also disassembled the Tecra and cleaned the fan and the heat sink as at first I thought it may be a heat problem, but it happens even after I added a desk fan blowing directly into the ventilation openings on the underside of the laptop.

The only other thing I thought that maybe the cause was the very old battery, but I've learned since you can actually use the Tecra without the battery in all with just the power supply.

I'm at loss, I hope someone can help.
    Thank you in advance,
    Bradley.

    Hello

Temperatures are ok and shouldn't t be the reason for this problem. But in my opinion, you should always clean the laptop with a jet of compressed air. This could blow the dust from the cooling fans and you don't have to disassemble the laptop. You can buy this spray of each computer store.

But it would be interesting to know the outcome of the Memtest86. Have you tried this test doesn't show an error with RAM?

  • Tecra R950 - 16L - display sometimes dark rest under tension

    Hello

I have a Tecra R950 - 16L for about 3 months now, everything works fine. Since a few days, I now the problem that sometimes, especially after I transported the laptop before, the internal screen is black after that I turn on the laptop.

Blindly, I can type my password and see the disk activity that windows probably begins, but none is displayed.

After I move the laptop and shake a little sometimes it works again and the computer remains work until I move the laptop again (at least this is what seems to make the effect occur).

Seems to me like a connector loose on the screen or something like that?

Is it possible to fix this on my own?
I need my cell phone all the time and do not want to send it for repair if it is not not 100% necessary.

    What do you suggest me?

    Michael Czierwitzki

    > Seems to me like a connector loose on the screen or something like that?

Yes, it seems that there is a bad connection or maybe something wrong with the sensor cover.

    > Is it possible to fix this on my own?
    I don t think so.
You would need to check what's wrong exactly. Once this has been verified, you would need to disassemble the laptop and it's not easy. Finally and above all you need compatible parts to replace the affected hardware I put t would think that you can do

    > I should I my laptop all the time and do not want to send it for repair if it is not not 100% necessary.
Well, you could ask the Toshiba authorized service provider for details and how long such repair would take.

  • Tecra 8100: Advice replace please - audio card?

My 8100 Tecra faithful and beloved which is ideal for my purposes locked up the other day, in the middle of a session.

Restart windows resulted in blocking machine once Windows is running.
I started in safe mode - no problem.
I have disabled all devices useless and then through a process of elimination of selectively allowing devices and reboot.
I found that the problem was the Yamaha audio device - that turn on the machine and it would lock up, disable that and he would normally go.
It worked fine now for a day with the disabled Yamaha audio device.
I tried to uninstall/reinstall the device - no change.
I even did a fresh install of XP - no change.

I ran XP pro for over a year without problem (so far) and I consider not audio as criticism - just a nice to have.

    My questions are:

Is there anything else I need to do in the way of diagnosis?

    Tips for common problems?

Can anyone with experience of fixing these machines or similar notice if replacement of all of the audio card is likely to make a repair?

I seem to remember the last time that I opened it about two years ago to change the processor that the audio Assembly was on a separate panel but is that all?

Note that this is a _ancient_ machine and _not_ going to be taken to a repair shop where the Bill would be more that it is worth! I am competent to replace the sound card, more than that and I will probably continue to run without audio - I don't think that it worth replacing the motherboard just for audio...

Thank you very much in advance for any constructive suggestion.

Well, as you know these replacements are very delicate
However, I don t think you will be able to replace this sound card but it s my personal opinion.

From my experience, I know that the card (audio driver) his Yamaha is not fully compatible with Win XP SP1 and SP2. Update the audio driver is necessary.

    Google for it

I searched a bit for some instructions how to remove these boards and found this page.

There you should find a link to the page how to disassemble the Tecra 8100.

  • How to remove the drive of DVD of Tecra M3

Have an old Tecra M3 which works, but had a defective CPU fan.

Have managed to get and replace the fan, I came across a problem annoying when disassembly of the case.
I could not for the life of get out me the DVD drive. According to everything I read the disc should come out just, but he wouldn't.

I couldn't find anything (like a button or a screw) that it locked in.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction (today more interest than anything else)?

    See you soon...
    KeV

    Hello

The ODD on Tecra M3 is fixed with a screw on the lower side of the laptop. You must remove this screw first before you can remove the ODD.

Underside, there is a latch to remove the ODD. To remove first the screw next to the latch, then slide the battery bay latch, then you are able to remove the ODD.

    Check this box!

  • Tecra M4 - Mainboard double display Hack

    Hello

As my Tecra M4 died because of a broken three months CPU fan earlier, I already knew that, this laptop I'd then buy: a Tecra M4 :) I really like this camera.

So now I have my new Tecra M4 (40th) and dismantled the old components. (except the motherboard - which was a 42nd)

As I disassembled the unit, I saw, that the external VGA output is placed with the USB port on a small circuit, which is connected to the motherboard by the same kind of care, as the screen internal.

Now, my bright idea is _disassemble my new M4 also, connect the display of my old M4 to the second Jack on the motherboard and assemble the two views in a new business House. _

There is just one problem: I don't know if it works. Can I break my new mainboard, if I put this construction market?

I hope you can answer this question - or tell me who else I can ask.

    Kind regards
    SpongeStone

    > There is just one problem: I don't know if it works.
Hey Buddy. I think you're the first person who wants to try this I think nobody has tried this in the past and in my opinion it s not worth trying because of certain other risks!

You can damage everything; motherboard, CPU, and other parts that are connected to the card.
More air circulation would not properly work because of the other form of matter!
So, this could lead to a higher temperature and some of the damage

In my opinion you should not try this!

  • How to replace the battery CMOS on TECRA M3?

Could someone tell this newbie how to change the battery CMOS on a Tecra M3?
I can see it is located under the hard drive that I can remove, but cannot see how to strip all along to get to the battery.

    Thank you very much

    nilocp

The CMOS battery swap is not so simply, and to do this you need to disassemble the laptop everything.
Can you do that as a beginner?
It's maintenance manual isn't public document and how to explain the exact disassembly steps now.

Have you tried to load the CMOS battery properly? Leave laptop on the power supply more than 48 hours and it must be fully charged again.
