Tecra M1: boots to the Toshiba - beep then continuous homescreen!

in 'walk', the Toshiba start screen appears, and then nothing else happens. Any key pressed after that, quite a continuous beep. I bought the machine from a dealer, 2nd hand (500 books) with XP Pro loaded pre, all updates etc, everything worked fine until put on yesterday. This is my first laptop and the first time using this forum, 'be gentle please.

Hi Alan,

As soon as the Toshiba start screen appears and you should see the progress of the BIOS screen, press the ESC key. This can give you a clue as to what is happening.

Please post back the results.

Kind regards

    Restore point:

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

  • iMac, boots on the desk and then immediately crashes on the color wheel

Thanks for taking a peek at my question.

When I boot my iMac, everything starts up fine in the beginning - he's going right on the desktop, the mouse moves around and, if I'm quick, I can even click on 1 maybe 2 things until the computer completely locks the spinning wheel of death color.  I can still move the wheel on the screen with no latency, but I can't do anything in fact.  Typing on the keyboard does nothing, although the caps lock key will light up.  Boot in safe mode produces exactly the same results, except that it asks me to log in first.

Something must be start I need to get rid of, although I not much to install on this computer and rarely changes (it is a demo machine that lives in a small computer lab that I managed, off-grid). I never had any problems with it, then one day, this problem started.  Maybe I ran an update of the OS and that caused his crash?

I am very familiar with troubleshooting a Windows computer, but Mac does not really offer many intuitive troubleshooting options, IMO.  This seems to be a fairly simple matter to reslolve, but my research online have not produced results - people seem to suggest the safe mode and command line solutions, but safe mode doesn't change anything and I can obviously not open a command line to type anything.

The iMac was bought to 2010 and I'm 99% sure there Yosemite installed, but unfortunately I have no way to be able to check at the moment.

    Any help welcome, thanks!

Start of recovery volume (command - R on a restart, or hold down the option/Alt during a restart and select the Volume of recovery). Run the check/repair disk utility and repair permissions until you get no error. Then re-install the operating system.

We'll see. But don t expect any new tool XP renewals. XP is spent

What operating system you are using?
Normally Windows Vista for example to install Toshiba Value added Package. It contains all the drivers and tools for the FN keys for example.

But what about the Setup error: you change the motherboard or an ASP for example? I read sometimes on this error, which means that the DMI information are not properly written.

    Christmas salvation

Normally a Button object interrupts the slide as part of its basic function. However, you can disable this feature. In addition, if slides reading time is really long and the point of pause button is staged a long way in the slide, the user can click the button before the break point has been reached. In these cases, you would still hear the game with slide (assuming that there is no audio).

The issue here is to ask if the blade is really to continue to play or are you just hear the audio and assuming that it moves only play audio? You can just hear audio slide play while button has the slide paused.

Captivate 6, it seems a few options to make a pause or stop audio when clicked. I think that these are the new features of version 6. So if you use an earlier version, it may not be a way to cause the audio to pause.

  • Re: satellite A300 screen turns off after the toshiba logo, will not boot from the CD/DVD

Hello, I have this problem with Toshiba satellite A300.

I deleted several files and folders of my drives C and E. To restart the computer, it only shows the Toshiba logo then a slightly gray white screen on a thorough inspection. Whenever I press CRL + ALT + DELETE, the computer restarts and behaves in the same way.

I tried to use an external monitor, but there is no difference. The tent to start using a CD/DVD, same behaviour occurs, it does not start and screen remains blank after the Toshiba logo, I tried even to change g the order of boot, but in vain.

    What could happen?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

It seems that you deleted system files and Windows no longer starts. Have you tried to restore the disk image factory settings or hard drive recovery? Or do copy the Windows installation... It is easier to reinstall rather fix the problem.

  • Satellite A30 won't boot to the top

My computer does not start at the top. Yesterday, I had the blue screen but then restarted and everything was OK. Woke up this morning to the computer does not start. I have a Toshiba Satellite A30. I got the Toshiba screen, then the black screen to choose 'Start normally', 'last good settings', 'safe mode', "safe mode with network" etc.

I chose normal startup, then I get the Windows XP screen with the blue bar. When that has been loaded, he went back to the initial screen for Toshiba and then continues to repeat. I also tried safe mode, but that charge or the other.

What should I do? I don't want to erase the hard drive because there a lot of important data (family photos, work) etc. Please help me

    Thank you!

You can remove the HARD 2.5 laptop drive and you can connect it via USB to another PC. Then you may be able to save any important files.
After this procedure the plug back in the HARD drive and boot from the recovery CD to reinstall the OS.

  • Qosmio G15 never boots from the recovery CD-ROM

    Hi all

I have Toshiba Qosmio G15 (Win XP Media Center Edition). I installed Phoenix Recover Pro 6 with success. Now the laptop restarts and after the manufacturer LOGO all I get is ERR: TOS0002

I tried using the recovery CD and it never boots up the CD.
I tried to use the boot CD boot and always get the ERR: TOS0002

    Help, please.

    Hello

I m not 100% sure if the laptop supports the RAID or not but most often the boot from the restore CD should work without any problems. As suggested by Reavers, there could be a conflict with the partitions on the HARD disk.
You should try to format the whole HARD drive and then try to boot from the Toshiba restore CD.

  • System does not boot, get the white screen after preparation for auto repair

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 8 and yesterday there were some ongoing update and must restart.  When the computer reboots, it took some time and then I got a blue screen (very quickly) who said something as she encountered a problem and needs to fix (it is really fast and I can't see the whole text).  Then goes and comes back as it is booting (with the toshiba logo) and he says prepare auto repair.  Then it goes to a white screen. I tried to get into the HARD drive recovery (power with F12) and when I select HDD Recovery and confirm Yes, it just goes to a blank screen.  I went into the Setup utility (powering now F2 while) and has chosen default install and who does not either (although it has fixed the problem with my keyboard backlight does not). Support of Toshiba said that it is the operating system, not the hard drive.  But I need a drive recovery media that will scan all.  Anyone know other options?  I have a disc of recovery of a Microsoft coming 8 Pro (dell).  Would it be an option, to use it (I got it on a flash drive) and start-up of that?  Thanks for the help.

    Hi John,.

    Thank you for the update.

Given that you want to use the Windows 8.1 recovery disk, you won't perhaps able to start Windows 8 using Windows 8.1 because the computer may not be able to find the files of Windows 8 start to recover.

Yes, you pouvez install 8.1 Windows using the recovery disk. However, you may not be able to perform the upgrade option when installing Windows 8.1. When you click install now and follow the instructions, you must choose the Custom Advanced option to continue installation. Choose Advanced custom options will create a folder in the C: drive (or any other partition when you do not want to install) named the Windows.old folder which expected to have all of your files and documents of previous installation and are accessible.

Make sure you have the drivers available for the devices installed on the computer as network card, drivers etc. of video card you install Windows 8.1.

Hope the information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

    Thank you.

    Hello

You can start the machine in safe mode? Which operating system you are using? Are you using it for a while or is this first boot after installation.

Please write a little more. If you give more info and detailed description, it is easier to understand what may be the problem.

The message looks like you tried to boot and install Windows LAN

If you want to change the boot order, I recommend pressing the F12 key, immediately after that the laptop was turned on!

A new start menu should appear, then you can choose the reader of CD/DVD (ODD) and a boot device.

Also by pressing the C button should allow you to boot from the CD inserted, bootable.
