Tecra M11-S3410 frequent Freezes Win7

Hi all

I just got off the phone with Tech Support and thought to reformat or send the laptop in for repair. This machine is essential to the Organization and I wanted to see first what other options are available.

My problem with the laptop is the machine will be closed and the fan will run quickly and audibly. The system is hot but not burning as if it was overheating. Only solution here is to cold start and restart the device. This happens almost every day.

Most of the applications running on this PC include QuickBooks 2007 and MS Office 2007 Applications FireFox 3.X. The last blocking occurred when only Outlook and Firefox have been opened. Event Viewer not proved very useful.

Is there a utility I can run to check the compatibility of the software, or is there any ideas as what Diagnostics can be run on this system?

Before send you the laptop to ASP I would recommend to recover the computer laptop back to factory settings.
Always is that mobile or OS can freezes due to software or hardware problems. And so portable should be recovered in order to check if it s not software related problem.

These sounds like a higher temperature would affect the functionality of the laptop.
Perhaps the reason for freezing system.
Maybe some dust and debris clogged the fans of cooling/grids.

Please check that you can remove the dust using a jet of compressed air should this allows it.
But if it s is not overheating issue then a technician must check the hardware.

    Do you run a specific application while the laptop freezing?

    These symptoms may be related to some software conflicts between installed applications or some drivers not work.

    Have you ever tried to recover the laptop back to factory settings?
    Otherwise, I think you should try this procedure and it must conduct audits after the device has been recovered...

    Please also keep an eye on the MS updates would install automatically... sometimes it may happen that MS updates could confuse the system, and finally the windows would start freezing

    My Tecra M11 laptop is running Windows7 and with a broadband dongle Telstra wireless internet lights up and works normally for a period of time.

    Sudennly it freezes completely and 5 seconds later the cooling fan starts to run until I power off using the power button.

    You must understand that on this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here.
    I can imagine that some background process starts and increase the use of the CPU at the critical level when the motherboard sensors register at higher temperature of the processor and cooling fan starts to run fast enough.

    Try to check in the Task Manager, if something like that happen.

    I put t know how you have configured your operating system and to applications that run in the background, but also to try to stop treatments that you don't need and change some settings.

    I had two notebooks Tecra M11 - 17V. (the first was stolen and replaced by an identical)
    They both had the same problem where the machine would sometimes freeze for about 5-10 seconds.

    Frost occurs usually when you move the mouse over a button or a menu, for example, the close button in any window.

    I guess the image pre-installed on this laptop contains just 32boit version of Win 7.
    So yes, you need to buy a Win 7 64 bit Microsoft Disk in order to install the 64-bit version.

    You can purchase Win 7 64 bit across most of the stores online like Amazon is a hotel and I think it would be the easiest and fastest way to get to this

    According to tender specifications that your Tecra has been delivered with preinstalled WIN7 64 bit PROFESSIONAL and you have DVD extra WXP. Original recovery Win7 image was recorded on the HARD drive and use preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator you have had the opportunity to backup recovery image and create the installation of bootable recovery disk.
    How it works is described in the document s user manuals.

    I put t know if you created this disk but now after installing Windows XP Home edition, you need the recovery disc. Of course, if you want to have the factory settings, you need this record.   • Tecra M11 - 11J - cannot install Windows 7 64 bit

    Tried to upgrade a Tecra M11 - 11J for Windows 7 64-bit.
    The installation gets all the "Loading Windows files" screen, then turns off and freezes, with the release of maxing out CPU fan but no HARD disk activity.

    Have tried to reinstall XP (works fine), flashing the BIOS to the latest version, re-seats of the RAM, change the HARD drive in "Compatibility" mode and reinstall Win 7 - same problem.

    Have you tried Win 7 32 bit - the same problem.
    Installation of USB, instead of DVD - same problem.
    Different flavors of Win 7 - same problem!

    It's extremely frustrating.
    I upgraded the memory up to 8 GB, hoping to take advantage of this with W7x64 and now I'm stuck with a XP machine and 4 GB of of of the RAM to lose.

    Would be very grateful for any suggestion.

    What of the HARD drive? The HARD drive is displayed on the first page of the BIOS?

    I used my new Tecra M11 for about a month. I'm starting to find occasionally freezes, each lasts about five seconds. The mouse stops and I just need to wait until he comes back.

    Now, for these last days, I had occasionally accompanied by a strong clicking freeze on that seems to come from the hard drive. Everything stops as usual, including the mouse, and the player makes about eight strong clicks. The noise seems to come from the back left side, which is where I assume that the hard drive is located.

    So, is this a new drive hard reconfiguring itself and bedding in, or is it dying? The original gel, I tabled in the software, but now clicks began, I'm not sure.

    On the left side of the Tecra M11 is the HARD drive as you have already said, and if the HARD drive is causing these rattling it appears to be a malfunction of the HARD drive. That s no reconfiguration of the HARD drive to backup so all important data on another drive.

    The HARD disk should be replaced as quickly as possible. If your Tecra M11 is only one month it of still under warranty and this Exchange is free for you. Simply contact a service provider allowed in your country and explain the situation. Guys are going to order a new HARD drive and swap it. :)

    I have a Tecra M11 (Windows7 64-bit). Toshiba Power Saver Settings V8.9.3.64 are installed.

    My problem is: fan is almost always turned on with maximum speed, in which case there is no load on the CPU (only 1 to 5%). It's really loud and annoying!

    What I've done so far: I changed the method of cooling to the "battery optimized" to two changes of power, but without effect.

    Question:
    (1) are there any available desktop mode (as many other manufacturers of laptops offers for professional laptops) to work in a quiet environment?
    (2) is there an option to uninstall the Toshiba Power Saver Settings and use the standard cooling Windows7, because Windows 7 has generally a passive cooling option with the effect that the fan is off.

    I m really wondering what cooling settings method didn't help. I have Tecra A11 with Win7 64 bit and my laptop is absolutely silent. Changes to these settings on several other portable Toshiba the result was the same. Laptop has been much quieter.

    Which power plan do you use?
    Have you noticed a difference when you switch to the Toshiba eco mode?

    I have a Toshiba Tecra M11 - 11 M, which was blocked from password. I stripped the computer laptop and removed the BIOS during 10 min but the rest password battery still IE on the screen it still reads PASSWORD - *.

    I put t know if that would be helpful, but try to test the memory, run the memtest86 utility
    But note; These controls are not always successful means that even the memory is faulty, the error may not be detected by these software
