Tecra S1 USB problem

Hello

Essentially of 2 of the 3 USB ports on my laptop doesn't work anymore.

I unplugged everything yesterday for work elsewhere. After plugging everything in (USB hub with mouse and keyboard to a port and one external hard drive LACIE in the other) that one of the three ports responds.

All three of them appear in the device if Manager.

I have win XP SP2 installed
Tecra S1 Pentium M 2.0 Ghz

OK, I managed to get one of them to run it again, but I get a XP error message saying that one of the ports is greater than its power support or something like that: confused:

  • Re: Tecra A10 - USB problem on the port replicator

I have a Tecra A10 and sometimes, when I work with her, the devices USB stopped responding if they are connected to the port replicator.
If I connect them to the laptop, they work fine.

I tried to update the BIOS but now when I turn on the laptop it freezes when Toshiba red letters are displayed on the screen. I can work with the laptop properly deattached starting from port replicator.

Have you tried to load the default settings in the BIOS after the update?

If you have external devices connected to the laptop they remove and try again in the duplicator.
Maybe you should also update your laptop chip set driver. You can find them on the Toshiba site.

    Hello

It is very interesting how Toshiba cares about the problems of their users.
I think this is the last time I bought some stuff from them.
Maybe I'll go back to DELL. They care more.
My post will be probably deleted now...

  • Tecra A11 & Express Port Replicator II - USB problems

    Hello

I'm having a problem with a port replicator that I simple couldn't have resolved for months. I'll try to explain this as best I can.

We have a Tecra A11, which seems to work fine running on Windows 7 Professional. When the Tecra A11 is pluged in an Express Port Replicator 2, not USB ports in the port replicator's work at all. Very good cell phone fees and the LAN switches on the replicator fine, but the USB ports simly does not work under any circumstances. It would also be interesting to note that the green light next to the "eject" button lights never really.

I downloaded and installed the latest series driver for Windows 7 from the Toshiba support page which has no effect. We had 2 replacements for Toshiba because they also agreed that the previous, we had were not woring correctly, but this obviously was not the case because we still have the same problem with our 3rd unit. The Tecra A11 was sent back to Toshiba with case notes clearly describing the question, and he was sent to us "no fault found".

Unfortunately, we don't have any other laptops to test on the port replicator. but I'm seriously suspect that the problem lies in the laptop, rather than the port replicator. For any idea or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Steve.

    Hello

According to your message, you are not sure if the problem is related to the defective laptop Tecra or express port replicator.
Hmm theoretically the problem might be related to defective express port replicator or Tecra.

If found some information on the USB ports and the repliators port:

+ Make sure that the element of Legacy USB in the BIOS emulation is set to "Enabled". This feature only works for the keyboard and mouse. Also note that the keyboard and mouse must be connected before you start the computer. A USB mouse, keyboard or the floppy drive connected to the Port Replicator via any other connection that a hub of the first level, will not work until the operating system has started. +

I also recommend to check the version of the BIOS; If the most recent BIOS is available, then you need to update this

  • Tecra 9000 USB port failure

    Hello Helpers,
My Tecra 9000 IGH with Windows XP model has two usb ports dead and taken from mouse. From what I've read, it's a defect with this model. The USB ports are on a separate module that is plugged into the main Board.

Is the fault on the set of the USB module or on the main Board or the fault lies in the power plug. Is the fault of the joints for example dry easily repairable, where a quick touch of a soldering iron can redo them. Does anyone have a circuit diagram which would make tracing easier fault.

I had partially circumvents the problem by using a USB card, but this often causes freezing the computer and my laptop hard drive will not work with it.

    Any help appreciated.
    Linlithgow your sunny.
    Derek

    Hello Derek

On this path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here, but I guess there is a contact problem. It is really not easy to say it's the problem motherboard or separate module itself. I think that it should be checked on professional way.

The second problem is the scheme of construction. As far as I know that is not a public document and you'll be lucky if anyone has it for you. I know that you will not be satisfied by my suggestion, but I think the best way is to communicate with the technicians and talk with them. Maybe there really small problem and can be cheaply repaired.

    Good luck!

  • Tecra A11 - USB is not loan Express Port Replicator II

    Hey people,

I'm absolutely fed up with this, so I hope you can help me with this: Iam using a Tecra A11 with Express Port Replicator II. There are three problems:

1 USB mouse and USB keyboard are not ready to use so that until that Windows7 is fully loaded (BIOS Mode)

    2. There are USB devices such as USB-HDD, TV Tuner, telephone mobile-station host connected to the port replicator. Laptop remains in the Boot Logo screen and does not start until I have disconnect all devices. So I have to disconnect it, restart it and anchor it again. quite annoying.

    3. using the 64 bit version of WIndows 7 and playback sound stops regularly for 2-3 seconds when I use the speaker plug from the docking station. Using the plug in the laptop itself - no problem.

I am absolutely fed up with it. Anyone have any idea?

    Thank you!

    Hey Buddy,

With regard to the problem of USB:
You have enabled USB legacy support in the BIOS? As far as I know, there is always such an option in the BIOS and it must be allowed, if you want to use USB devices before Windows starts.

And using his most recent drivers for your laptop? You can check it on the Web from Toshiba site if a newer version is available:

  • Toshiba satellite pro m30 USB problem

I have toshiba satellite pro m30 and HP scanjet 4600 scanner.when I connect the scanner directly to the notebok with its ' original usb cable there is no problem. But if I connect the scanner to the laptop with a laptop usb extension cable cannot initialize the scanner. There is no problem if I connect the scanner to the VAIO laptop with usb extension cable. What can I do?

    Hello

could you describe the difference between the original USB cable and the USB extension cable?

The laptop and the printer works correctly with the original USB cable, but it seems that the extension USB cable is an inexpensive which does not fulfill the technical specifications and the laptop has a problem with this issue.

To solve the problem in my opinion you could do an update of the BIOS, look if for your printer is a new driver available and reinstall the USB drivers.

Also, you could test whether USB, the same problem occurs with other cables.

  • Tecra A2 - mouse problems

I have some problems with the external mouse on my tecra A2. The pointer seem to 'jump', sometimes across the screen, and it's pretty boring. I'm not sure of what the cause of the problem and still less what to do about it... The mouse is a Logitech optical mouse. I tried to change to a similar mouse but that did not help...
    What should I do?

    Hello

Try disabling the touchpad through FN + F9. Did you try it with mouse just wireless? You can try it with the mouse that is connected with a cable?

Sometimes I have the same problem, but it happens if the batteries are empty or if the mouse signal receiver is placed on the wrong place.

  • Need to Tecra M10 USB formatting before use

    Hi all

It is a problem, I was confronted during about one month.
I already asked for help in support of Microsoft and I managed the problem circumstance, unfortunately without being able to solve it.
    The problem is the following:

Whenever I plug in an external hard drive via USB I wonder to format it before using it. This of course I do not. This problem appeared all of a sudden, before everything worked perfectly.

My external hard drives work perfectly, in other forums, namely other laptops.

In addition, if I reboot Windows 7 in the 'safe mode' can I connect external hard drives via USB without problems. It seems that it is something that I had recently which is contradictory to my external hard drives.

What is an update from Toshiba? You have an idea about the things I could try to locate the problem?

    Thank you in advance.
    See you soon

    Hi Andrea

You have portable external hard drive or Toshiba Toshiba? I ask this question because you ask for Toshiba update.

  • Portage Z30-A-13W connected to the high speed Port Replicator III - USB problems

    Hi all.

We recently bought a new Portage Z30-A-13W and Hi-Speed Port Replicator III.
Setting network and graphics work correctly with port replicator, but the USB ports don't work at all.

I tried the port replicator USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 and I can't seem to work with a keyboard, mouse, USB key or a mobile phone.

In the case of mobile phones, it is also no output power of the ports that the mobile does not start to load.

At any one another experianced this problem and what was the resolution.

    Thank you very much

    Jonathan Davies

    Hello

As far as I know additional drivers are not really needed to use the USB ports.
This is why I m wondering why don t USB ports work.

It might be possible that ports high speed Port Replicator III USB are faulty, but to be honest, I can't imagine that all 6 USB ports may bad work at the same time.

So maybe it s a software problem.
First of all, I would recommend the default BIOS and check the USB legacy support for keyboard and mouse could be activated.
After access to the Device Manager and remove / delete the USB hubs and controllers in the list of devices.

Keep high speed Port Replicator III connected to the computer and restart the device.
Usually, the system should recognize automatically deleted USB ports and must update the drivers of USB ports.

I hope that the USB ports don't work after this short workaround solution.
    Keep your fingers crossed.

  • Satellite A500-1 - latency USB problem

I have problems with my USB latency. It doesn't matter what I've done in the audio interface. He returned always dropouts.

    Hello

What are the USB devices connect exactly?
This happens only with connected devices or on internal speakers too?

Are you running the factory settings? With these settings, it should work fine and also check that this latest version of the BIOS is installed.

    Hello

In a first step, I would re - install the drivers for the chipset for your laptop.

After that uninstall the battery Bluetooth and re - install also.

There is also an information sheet available online to get information on the new drivers for Service Pack 2. Watch http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Free configuration (4.90.57) and PC (3.0.6) Diagnostic tool are available for users of Windows XP Service 2.

Take a look at http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com to get updates for download.

Keep me informed of your results

  • L10-108 USB problem

I was working on my computer when it froze, the screen started flashing and I had to take the battery out to get it working again. The problem is that when I started it all three of my usb ports have stopped working. I have a mp3 player and a usb mouse and I got a message saying that they are of unknown devices (they worked fine before).

After some testing, I updated the drivers for all the three usb ports and all of a sudden one of them works, but not the other two. I now have a usb port that works very well, but the other two refuse to recognize even my mp3 player and when I plug in my mouse they say that it is an unknown device.

What can I do? I tried to download new BIOS, but nothing seems to work.

    Hello

tried restoring windows system yet? With the system to store the tool (available in Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools) you can restore the system to a point while it was working properly!

Try it and then the two other USB Ports should work again!
