• Text becomes overset when moved to another object

  I'm trying to understand why every time I have to move suddenly, a text box on another object the text becomes overset and disappears.  If I move the object or the spread entirely, the text returns and seems normal.  I tried to place the file, copy and paste the file, copy and paste the selected text, move the text box in a separate layer, check the order to ensure that the text box is on the top, but nothing seems to work.  Any thoughts on why this is happening?

  If I (put) understand, what you see is simply the image rasterized pixels.

  If you save for Web to the exact size as it is used for, pixels correspond to use and it will look nice.

  Any raster image looks pixelated when scaled beyond its actual size.

  I created a car playing together the States of the object, loop and vector format. When one State to the other, the content (images and text) blur. This is the case whenever the when the image is changing / loading. I put them in vector because the images are grouped with vector text in the States. Is it possible to have the loading to the next destination in a smooth, rather than blur?

• During text export JPEG becomes pixelated when printed

  I created a few art text in Illustrator I want to print as a poster. Whenever I have save the file as PDF (300 DPI) and print it myself the text will appear crispy with no pixelation. However, I want to post it to 18 x 24, that I can't do with my basic printer so when I print I print only part of the picture, but whatever lines are perfectly clear.

  I would be fine with leaving in PDF format, however, I have noticed most all plants ask a JPEG file for prints, which I can't understand because based on what I've read online, JPEG files automatically reduce the quality. Whenever I have the same export to JPEG (300 DPI) the text becomes pixelated.

  Is there anyway I can export this file to JPEG and not lose quality?

  If your document is set up at the scale 1:1 to the final output size then jpeg 300 dpi should look ok, as long as you choose 'export' in the menu file, DO NOT use the backup for web option, which will be released at 72 dpi.

  Make sure that you "the installation document" is 1:1 scale in the right units. so do 18 x 24 and make sure that your text is the size you want in this area.

  then in the next window that appears, make sure that you choose at least 300 dpi (it may be higher if your computer has enough ram etc in order to treat her)

  ID choose the RGB color model if you print on the type of place that requires a jpeg file. and make sure that the "quality" slider is completely to the right for best quality compression.

  If its really not workign out, then you can try sending them a TIFF instead, which usually have compression artifacts (you can zip to reduce the size of the file after you save it)

  I hope someone might be able to help me understand how I am best at what a "assets/down" State and a "visited" .

  I have a screen with a number of buttons - when the learner clicks on a button, they appear different information (easily click reveal sort of interaction) can I do now with the functionality of the State multi 9 Captivate object.

  But can I use "States" to show that they have visited a button.

  The scenario is as follows:

  
  Screen has 10 buttons.

  By example, Normal (not yet visited) - button is blue.

  Active/low (learner has selected the button)-button is purple.

  Visited - button is green.

  Sorry, but Lisa doesn't quite ask on built-in States (Normal, Rollover, Down)! Read each question carefully, please.

  She questioned an integrated State and a State of 'Clicked', which is NOT at all.

  @Lisa the easiest way is to States. I use above all form buttons, because they are much more flexible than the old types of buttons. You see in this Panel of State of the object, I've changed the text on them and rolling to the bottom of the State, which is impossible for the transparent buttons and text and for text image buttons must be in the image, which means that whenever you want to change the text, you must re-create the three images. Not very friendly, because it must still occur in another program.

  

  You see that on top of the InBuilt three States I created a custom state "Clicked". Do not confuse this Panel: the button has the same size as in the integrated States, but the thumbnails have a fixed size, where the last State of the scene shows that three States integrated.

  If you want the State Down to be the same as the clicked State, you can do it as well, but I wanted to show that it's a different State. With this configuration, you can have the Clicked State, replacing the Normal State (attention: the flyover States and down will remain the same) after clicking on the button with this workflow:

  • Create a tip or shared action standard (in this article, I used shared actions: 1 share = 5 buttons toggle - Captivate blog )
  • Add the command "change the State of MyShapeButton, Clicked
  • Put the command you want to be executed by this button (like the jump to slide X)

  If you navigate away from this slide, the "Clicked" State is only kept in 9.0.1.320 - not in the previous version - if you check the option "Maintain state on the overview of the slide" which you will see in the upper part of the properties of the button panel.

  I would like to know if that's what you're looking for? If you want to have the rollover state change, you will need two buttons and will have to replace the first box of the other which shows all States in a version Clicked.

• Illustrator of hanging or hesitating when I select an object

  Hey guys, I have a question, and I know I can't be alone on this.

  I got a problem for the last few months with Illustrator CC hesitant when I select an object. It happens randomly. I might be selection of text, a picture, a form, an anchor point, whatever it is.

  Here's what happens:

  I select an object with the direct Selection tool and (without maintaining the mouse button) move my cursor to the next object.

  Instead of being selected, there will be a noticeable delay, and after about half a second, the object that I selected just follow my cursor as if I had clicked and dragged, then released.

  It happens more often when I select multiple objects to make a gesture or a group or just something to a certain number of things, but it happens only with several objects. Whenever this happens, I have to cmd + z and reselect it. It's super annoying when I just spent a good amount of direct time by selecting some anchor points and I have to go all the way back and do more. It's absolutely destroy my workflow.

  Also, I know it's not hardware related.

  I have a new MBP 15 inch brand retina 2014. 16gigs ram, core i7, the whole shebang. Apple recently (yesterday) gave me this machine to replace one of the identical specifications, because I and they determined that shouldn't happen other things happening. Now, I do not think it is more that I have just opened illustrator for the first time, and whaddya know. I had a bunch of other problems with the other computer, and I thought it was just another symptom.

  I use illustrator all day. I have used it for years on less powerful machines. I have a dell of 2011 at home that I use now because of this problem. I am not anything do ram intensive, and that happens not only on the great illustrator documents. It happens in the Mavericks and Yosemite. I'm completely updated in all. I'm not using a fancy or wacom mouse, and it comes up with the trackpad as well.

  I disabled all my extensions and finally understood that this bug is related to BetterTouchTool, which is used to align windows on Windows. Too bad, because I like to have this option, but getting rid of it is better than having to constantly undo. I will update if the problem persists, but I can already see a significant improvement in performance.

  Have a few questions:

  • What Captivate version do you use?
  • Is this video slide, or a FLV inserted with its default playback bar? From your description, I suspect it is a FLV inserted
  • At the text to disappear completely after fading caption?

  It is possible to apply an effect (like the gradual removal - it will be AlphaFromTo) per share advanced in Captivate 5/5.5. But the action has to be triggered by an interactive object (button, click box) on the slide, and you cannot set the duration of effect which is really annoying. I was able to find a workaround by creating a custom with the appropriate length effect.

  Something similar, but less heavy is to use an exit effect, FadedZoomOut. You must then not at all worth on the duration. It was my workflow:

  • created a click box and put it on the same location as the play button of the room bar (FLV), but under the FLV on the Timeline (it will still be active, but if you put it on top, the play button is not active)
  • creates a fast action with a single statement:
    • Apply the effect Text_Caption_1 FadedZoomOut (you can use the finally selection button to have the initial scale and final by the same amount, the value so that there is no zoom blur)
  • Attach this action advanced to the click box

  No, exactly the opposite. Text InDesign becomes alive text to publish online, Illustrator text does not work, it turns into an image.

• Unable to get the correct rules table result when the State is unknown

  I use OPA version 10.4. I'm writing a rule by using a table of rules. Requirement is such that when the State is unknown then conclusion should evaluate to 'Others' (for example). Now, I have a condition (text) attribute and attribute of conclusion (text). Now when the condition attribute value is "abc" then attribute of the conclusion must be "xyz" but when the condition attribute is 'unknown' or anything else then attribute conclusion must be 'other '. I tried to implement this in the two table rules in word doc and also in excel table of rule but failed to get the desired result. It assesses the 'unknown' conclusion when the condition attribute is 'unknown '. Please suggest.

  Absence of any (other) cause/cure, try the list:

  Sometimes, (some) things may fail or stop working for no apparent reason. When (other) possible reasons/remedies do not work, it is perhaps a kind corruption (temporary or permanent), or even preference settings which disturbs, which can be cured with something on the following list put in place in order to provide a catch-all solution for otherwise intractable cases. It starts with a few easy suggestions and safe) 1 and 2) for cases less serious and goes two ways 3) and 4) to reset the default preferences (easily but irreversibly and more laboriously but more completely and also reversible), then follows a list 5) various other possibilities, and it ends with a complete reinstallation 6). If no other suggestion doesn't work, or if no other suggestion appears, you can start on the list and decide how to go or who can apply.

  The following is a general list of things, try when

  (A) the question is not in a specific file,

  (B) you have a printer installed, connected and turned on if it's a physical printer (you can use Adobe PDF/Acrobat Distiller as a printer by default without the need to have a printer on, of course you will need to specify when you really need print on paper), and

  (C) It is not caused by problems with opening a file from external media (see below).

  You tried/made some of them already; 1 and 2) are easier for temporary strangenesses and 3) and 4) specifically may be corrupted/inconvenient preferences); ((5) is a list in itself and 6) is the last resort.

  If possible / there is, you must record a current work first, of course.

  (1) close Illy and open again.

  (2) restart the computer (you can make up at least 5 times);

  (3) close Illy and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift / Cmd + Option + shift during startup (easy, but irreversible);

  4) move the folder (follow the link with this name) with closed Illy (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you can find the file here:

  OK - think I have this sorted out now.

  When you copy and paste an Illustrator file in Photoshop, you get the dialog box PASTE.

  You can paste as smart object, Pixels, path and shape layer. In the past, you would select depending on what you want (in my case for most Smart Object) and viola - you have your dynamic object. However, in the newly revised version, there is a checkbox in low called "Add to my current library" If this box is checked, it becomes a library file that displays with a 'cloud' icon in the layer. If you uncheck the 'Add to my current library' it won't matter as a regular smart object.
