Teying to watch TV on my computer in Windows Media Center

I did a restore to my hard drive and now I can't watch TV on my computer, Media Center tells me that I don't have a TV tuner card or install driver valid. I think they are, but "How can I say".

This is what SONY told me to do, but it doesn't work, my computer always tells me that I don't have a TV tuner card or valid tuner driver installed.
I am pleased to provide you with information on how to watch TV on the computer. According to the information available, the VAIO PCV-RZ54G comes with the Giga Pocket motor MPEG2 time card real encoder/decoder with TV Tuner. It is used for watching TV. I suggest that you download and install Sony shared library first, then the Sony MPEG in time real encoder Board, pilot of the Sony MPEG in time real encoder Board. It should solve the problem.

Hello

·        Have you installed the software which has been mentioned by Sony support on your system?

·        Do you have the TV tuner card pre-installed with your system or did you buy it later?

·        Do you see unknown devices in Device Manager?

·        Who is the manufacturer of the card and what is the model?

I suggest you check in Device Manager. Follow the steps mentioned below.

a. Click Start, click Run and then type devmgmt.msc

b. check all unknown devices and let us know.

I suggest you to check with the manufacturer of the TV tuner card and download the drivers for the Windows XP operating system and install it on the system. Click on the link below.

  • WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER - WINDOWS 7 - COMPUTER CRASHES

Whenever I turn on windows media center to watch live TV, after about 10 minutes of watching TV, my computer crashes / turns off.  I have to hold in the power button for a while turns back on after that is the case of the computer. I get no error message, it's just completely off / hangs the computer.

    Dell Inspiron Intel Core duo

    Windows 7 Home premium

I got so sick of this, I spent the last few hours trying all sorts of things.

This seems to have solved that problem.

First of all, I went to my monitor of resources because of the above message on the video memory. I have never in line or running anything while I watched the live TV on windows media center. As I thought, everything was fine. I had a lot of resources free etc, but while watching I noticed my McAfee security software and decided to disable real-time scanning and firewall. (I never try to watch live TV on windows media center all in line.) I always turn off my network card when I'm not online anyway so felt ok with turning the firewall and scanning off.)

And guess what! for the first time since I use Windows Media Center, it has not crashed my computer. So, it looks like Microsoft and McAfee need to understand this. I tested it several times and each time McAfee is on and working when turned off, it blocks. It will be a headache to have to remember to turn it on when I go online and off when I want to watch the tv media Center in windows.

I suggest to have the people to do this step first before making do them all the steps you gave me above.  We hope to see some sort of update of Microsoft and McAfee for this question.

    Hello ebduhamel,

    1. what type of connection you have between the computer and the Xbox, it's a cable or a wireless connection?

    2. is it to wake up the computer from standby or everything just stops?

I suggest you try the steps below and check if you have the same problem.

This could be possible only if media sharing is enabled on your computer.

I suggest that you turn off media sharing and make sure you always have the same question:

    a. click the arrow below the Library tab, and then click media sharing.

    b. turn off media to find that others share and share my media to check boxes, and then click OK.

By clicking OK, you confirm that you want to turn off sharing for yourself. You will also be asked if you want to turn off sharing for everyone who uses this computer. Note that if you let one of the selected check boxes, some sharing services may continue to run in the background.

    c. When you are prompted to turn off sharing for everyone who uses the computer, follow these steps:

To make your changes apply to all users of your computer (including yourself), click Yes.
