The difficulty to create a recovery disk

I tried following these steps from the Manual:

To create a system recovery media
1. launch Dell backup and restore.
2. click on the tile to recovery media.
3. Select the USB Flash drive or disk, and then click on continue.
4. follow the instructions on the screen.

I got to step 2 and saw a clock with rotation of the hands. After a few minutes, he showed that there are about 8GB of data, showed me that my optical drive has been selected, tells me to insert a blank disc, then click START.

START has been disabled.  I waited some time, but he remained in gray.

I thought I would try again, so I clicked on Cancel.  The clock began to run again, but the size of the file never changed from 0.

I cancelled again and completely early on in step 1 above.

Now all I have is a spinning clock which was run for 20 minutes.  I just stopped with the Task Manager.

What now?

Mystery solved!

When I bought my previous office, 6 or 7 years, the seller gave me a package of 50 without brand, Virgin, the DVD-R discs.  I don't burn many discs, so I still had half of them left, and I didn't have a problem with them in my old office.

I struggled to try to burn a DVD on my new i660.  Just for grins, I tried to burn a DVD on my laptop Dell Voestro 1500.  It seems to work, using Nero 7, but I don't check buy errors during combustion.  I tried several disks more, and non of them would work.  I just buy a package of new Kodak DVD-R disks.  I was able to burn the first person I've tried, then, just to see what would happen, I started the program backup and restore of Dell and got the Start button.  I was not in gray.  I don't mind not to burn, since I already have it on an SD card, but it looks like that was the problem.

You can create the recovery only DVD disc if your laptop computer has preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator and factory settings.

Please check if you can find this tool under start > all programs > Toshiba. There you should find shortcuts to launch this utility.

  • Screen flickers on Satellite L300 and I am unable to create a recovery disk

    Hi all

    I just bought a model L300 PSLB0C 08R08C number.
I was unable to create a recovery disk, I was getting an error message saying it cannot create disk because it is scratched or has dirt on it, I lost 5 nine DVD.

I am went to the store and replaced by another unit, but had the same problem (I have not tried a different brand of DVD well)

Second issue with this device, the screen flashes once whenever it is in a shutdown state.
Number 3, the wireless card disappears from the Device Manager, until I restart.
    Laptop made in China ;-)

    Any suggestions are much apprecaited

    Hello

It is indeed strange that you were unable to create a recovery disk, and that the problem has resurfaced, even after permutation of the laptop with another unit of the store. However, if you have not tried a different brand of DVD so I suggest that if the laptop asks the disc is scratched or has dirt on it. I'm not sure if toshiba factory in fact blank DVDs, but if they do, it would be a starting point, as one would expect hardware toshiba would happily work with their own brand DVD media. However, if you can't find toshiba dvd then use another trust mark, for example, Imation and TDK. with my experience, I have tried many brands of DVD and have found very reliable TDK.

regarding the second question, this may be related to the graphics card in the system, or could be due to the performance of the computer laptop itself. Check that you have the latest driver for your graphics card and all the settings on the computer are optimized / hard drives are defragmented and deleted unnecessary files. with your third question, this question could also be related to driver problems, check your regional drivers toshiba site for the latest drivers again. failing this, I would back up your data and then restore to a factory condition, then install the drivers immediately. I hope this info can help you somehow.

  • Creating a recovery disk

Hi, my question is a little General, and I think that specific info on my laptop is not relevant. It is a HP, come to buy, and I want to create a recovery disk. I have seen that I have the opportunity to create it on USB or DVD. Here's my question... I have an external drive, which already have some data in it, but I have a lot of free space. Can I use an external hard disk to create a recovery instead of a USB disk? Any suggestions really appreciate it.

    Claudiu sincerely

    Claudiu Hey,.

I couldn't guarantee it would work, but you can try to partition a space about 20 GB and using the following guide for it. This method would not be my first choice, only because I don't want to risk losing other data that are on this hard drive, if something is not right with the partitioning/formatting process.

It might be more convenient to use a USB flash drive to do first and then create a partition on your hard drive and copy the USB flash content to the reader on this partition using Acronis or similar program. I strongly suggest to backup other data on this hard drive storage cloud or temporarily on the hard drive of your computer, just in case something goes wrong. Let me know if you have any questions

  • What card SD size should I expect create a recovery disk?

I just bought an inspiron 11 3000 series 2-in-1 for my son to school.

God knows, it will probably load tons of stuff on him that will finally it slow down for analysis and I will need to freshen up before the road of the school year.  So, I want to create a system for her drive until it begins to use it and I want to use a cool map only for that, so I can keep them safe and not have it used for something else.

What is the size of a disk I need create this recovery disk and system?  I used to use only the old CD, but it was at the time where I really was just reinstall the generic Windows and don't care about the drivers and others for my desktop PC.  I want to keep his laptop pretty much OEM factory to make our lives a little easier in the long run.

A 8 GB would be plenty for this?

    Thank you

This flash drive will be dedicated to the backup, if anything more than 16G is wasted. 64G may be a best value in general, but in this case, I recommend the thumb drive 16G cheaper than you can find, and I would also like to make two just to be sure.

  • HP Pavilion 17 - I was sick, created my recovery disks and a BIG thank you

After being sick for about 7 days, I was finally able to create my recovery disks on Friday, 1/24.  Everything seems fine except for a couple of pop-ups in the process.  The two pop-up windows had to do with DVD RW drive E one say a word on the listen to what is happening with removable disks and another on plays to see what is happening with the blank discs.  These 2 messages appeared after having burned the first disc, discs later and disappeared before I could answer.  But, I think that the creative process was not serious, because each disk burned correctly, each disc has been verified and message saying something on start-up line was made.

I also read in my sense that you delete the recovery partition on the hard disk to reclaim space for additional storage.  Is this something rreally what should be done?

Also my Revovery (D reader says it was modifed 01 24, 2014 at 10:38, file type.)  Why we say that, when I created only the recovery discs?

In addition, on my HP Support Assistant it said still to creat in 2 sections recovery discs, one in "Updated and developed them, HP messages" in the section «Battery and performance»  I used the printed instructions from HP to create consumer support of discs.  This is - why it still makes its appearance in the HP Support Assistant and I can remove them from there?

Thanks-Yous of thanks go out to those who have helped me on this site, especially CherylG.

CherylG, you've been very patient with me for answering all my questions.  I know that I have brought you crazy with some of them!  And I can certainly understand that, but you show no frustration with me in the comments to my questions.  You know, be patient with us, the elderly (laughing while typing this comment).  I know for a fact that I will have that other qustions happen if I can't easily find the answers in the online documents.  I hope that you will help me once again (LOL, laughint outloud here).

Oh, I noticed the length of time you've been helping people on this forum and the number of responses you have accumulated in this time.  I am very sure that there are many people who have used and still use this forum appreciate your expert help... I know I do.

    Thank you, once again.

A little encouragement?  I would say that you have provided a lot of encouragement I really needed.  Thank you for your answers to my questions in the post above.  Oh, the information on the HP Wizard program in the manufacture of recovery disks that disappeared.

Thanks again for your expert advice.

    Take care.

  • Re: Can I use the other Satellite U400 series recovery disk

I have Toshiba Satellite U400 121. My recovery disk does not work may be due the scratches that I see in it. I took the laptop to the Toshiba Center service and I got a negative support of them. They said, they can't put the Windows Vista because the recovery disk is not there, and they have put Windows XP inside and handed to me.
later I got to know that Windows Xp is not Geninue one. :|

I can still see one of the Partition 'D:' with folder HDDRecovery inside.

So can I use Recovery Disk of all PC model Toshiba laptop other than the Toshiba Satellite U400 121 recovery disk.

In fact, I tried with the other model recovery disk, that at boot with this disk, Recovery Wizard starts up, but since I'm not sure about this one I stopped there and brought out.

Please one of you let me know if you have valuable contributions on this.

    suggestions are welcome!

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I don't know Mr. which series Satellite U400-121, it is, but you must use the recovery disc designed specifically for this series of laptop!

Another recovery disc cannot be used because the drivers and tools that have been implemented in the image of Toshiba are not designed for this series of laptop!

By the way; You can order the CD from recovery from here:

  • FAILED TO CREATE THE SYSTEM BACKUP WIZARD USING RECOVERY DISK

I use Windows XP Professional and is trying to create a system recovery disk using the backup and Recovery Wizard.
I backup all the info on my laptop on an external device.
The wizard said at the beginning that at the end of the process I will ask you to insert a cd to create a system recovery disk.
In fact it asks me to insert a cd.
(After the backuo is complete), it just says that there is no cd in the floppy drive so a system recovery disk could not be created.

So, I would be grateful for any help with ths frustrating problem.

    elusivescarlet,
The XP Backup and Restore Wizard will create only the recovery on a floppy disk. Are you sure it says there is no CD in the drive or the fact of State there is no disk in the floppy drive?  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • Create the set of WIN Vista recovery disks

I have version OEM of WIN Vista Home Premium installed on my Dell Studio 540 desktop computer.  No recovery disk which came with my computer's operating system.

How to create a set of WIN Vista Home Premium recovery disc?  As can an alternate option, I save my OS on my 500 GB external hard drive that I currently use to backup photos, music, emails and other files?

Thank you very much for the help.

Contact Dell or look in the manual or on the Dell support Web site to learn how to create a recovery media. Another good option is the image of your system with a program like Acronis True Image and save the image on the external hard drive. This way you can go back to a system that works with all your programs, improvements, etc. very quickly instead of having to start over with a clean install. True Image is also incremental backup image so that your image is always cool. There are other imaging programs too - TI is exactly the one I use. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

I can't find the Verbatim and TDK DVD in our market closest to try these marks too.

    Hello!

I have a Satellite L300 too and didn t have problems to create the Toshiba recovery disc. I used DVD - R Verbatim media and usually got the best experience with the manufacture of DVD and DVD - R types.

In your case, I would try this DVD media or the TDK DVD-R discs. If you can find t he on the store closest to the computer you can also order it online. Take a look on Amazon or eBay, here, you can order these media.
    It s worth a try! ;)

  • Satellite A300D - create a recovery disk

    Hello
I have a Toshiba A300D. Recently, I installed the version BETA of Windows 7, wiping my installation of Windows Vista on my laptop, now I don't want Windows 7 more and wants to return to Vista. I still have the recovery partition in drive D, but I don't know how to be: create a recovery from this disk or restore using this straight from the trunk. I tried pressing F11 at the Toshiba flash at startup screen, and who just go to a screen that says "Windows could not start...". "etc, I also tried to go to the Multiboot menu and selecting HDD2, and who does not work either.

So can someone tell me how I can restore back to Windows Vista, I'm not taken worth losing data as I alll backed up on an external hard drive.
Where can I get the Toshiva Recovery Disc Creator software anywhere?

    Hello

He's a bad friend... usually it is not possible to restore the laptop on the factory (in the image of Toshiba) settings if you have removed the Vista HARD drive and not create the recovery disk...

The recovery disk is THIS essential disk and must be created at the beginning!

But maybe you're a lucky guy...
I found this thread with a nice tutorial posted by forum user.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=164927&

I didn't test it and I don't know if it will work, but I think you're last option... otherwise, you will need to order the Toshiba recovery disc.

Trying to upgrade Vista to Windows 7, I received instruction to make a recovery disk.  When you try this, a message 1 only one copy is allowed and 1 was created.  It is possible that my husband created 1 when the Office was bought, but we cannot locate.  What are my options?  We have a flash drive for backup, is - it possible that this automatically made a recovery?  What are my options?  Should I proceed without the recovery disk?

    Hello

It doesn't sound like a set of recovery disks Vista has already been created, but you can order a replacement game using the link below - I would definitely recommend these commands, but you can upgrade in the meantime.
