  • HP ENVY 4502: New out of box want 4502 says 'the following ink cartridges need to be replaced.

I bought a new HP ENVY 4502. I have out of the box, follow the installation instructions precisel before 4.9 step. The printer says 'Cartridge Install' with a blue under circle. I can't go any further.

I turn the machine off and on again and everything looks OK and I can continue with the installation.

Is this normal or does indicate that there is a problem with the new printer or cartridges provided?

Thank you for your help; I look forward to a response

    Hi @johngray,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I'd love to help you with your newly purchased 4502 envy. From your description, it seems that you have seen the 'Installation cartridge' message with a blue circle and could not move forward through the installation until you turned the printer off and on again. Your message, it sounds like once you have turned off the printer and turn it on again you were able to complete the installation, is that correct? I think that maybe there was a minor hiccup and the printer does not detect that the cartridge was installed, I don't think that it is an indication of how the printer will behave in the future.

If you encounter any other complications please let me know and I will gladly make all that I can to help.

  • Re-install the partially used HP ink cartridges in printer

Ask a question that I can't find an answer.
I removed all the ink cartridges 4 of our printer HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless last month because we bought a new printer.  There is still a significant amount of ink remaining in three cartridges, but they don't fit our new HP printer, so I sealed the carefully with adhesive tape on the distributors of ink and in Ziploc bags.  Can I now reinstall the HP cartridges partially used the printer from my father, who is the identical 8500 model, or I could create a problem any?  My husband warned that relocation could introduce air bubbles?  It only a month since they were out and sealed again.  Please notify.

    DianneSsalvation,

You can certainly install these, previously used cartridges in your printer of fathers.

Here is a document that discusses storage open cartridges and print heads. Nozzles crust if supplies are not kept in air-tight containers properly moistened and ink may wick of nozzles if anything in contact with them. If the cartridges or one of the cartridges does not work, it could be because it has dried up.

I hope that answers your question. Thanks for joining the HP Forums.

  • With the help of HP ink cartridges which have been refilled.

I'm having my cartridges refilled at costco 564xl. When I install the reloaded cartridges the ink level is very low. How can I solve this problem

    Maxie,

If this is the case, then

    • These people mean that perhaps it is a way of deterrence - as a way to deter you from using filled cartridges in the first place?  Personal opinion: printing software is not likely to be vindictive.
    • The results can be completely benign - the printer and/or the software may not be able to read the contents correctly the cartridges 'foreigners '.

I was never in a position where I had to use reloaded cartridges.

I use in my PhotoSmart 7520 564XL cartridges - HP cartridges show completely full when it is installed.  The conduct of the audit software say "estimated ink levels".

    Try / review

You can get a better idea of whether the ink is actually 'low' for starters if you check the number of pages printed - compare the number when you start a new cartridge (s) (game of) for the number of sheets printed when you need to replace the cartridges.  Check the total against the number of sheets that must be printed at the size of the cartridge.

You can check with Costco for the number of estimaterd of leaves, you can imagine by charged cartridge.

Another important factor: the printer will answer as seems it.  If Costco said you should get 200 sheets per cartridge and you get 100 sheets, then this is what you get.  This is true for any cartridge.  You must take into account the types of documents or printed photos.

It's certainly a bit of work for an ink cartridge - it will give you an idea of whether you are in fact save money using reloaded cartridges.

    Happy 2014!

It's a nice way of saying 'Thank you' for help.

  • Replace the magenta cartridge on the HP Officejet says 6600 still needs to be replaced

Impoverished cartridges must be replaced before printing. Because, for the first time and still have the same error. I already have market power. What's next? I use HP ink cartridges

I spent a frustrating hour and a half with a similar problem.

Install cartridges were exhausted, so I bought new ones. The replacement, he kept complaining the magenta one not recognized or is damaged. I am worried because my new cartridges were not original HP.

Sometimes, he tells you to power off the printer, and at other times, he said you turn off may damage.

I put my old HP original magenta cartridge in and it came with the same message. I was afraid that the device had been fried. In desparation, I thought that maybe it's all just bad contacts.

I did a small wedge of paper folded twice and laid it gently between the new ink cartridge and the small black plastic on the top right tab that serves as a guide when you replace the ink cartridge in the slot. This gives a bit of pressure to push the chip at the top left of the ink cartridge to make contact with the indication on the printer itself. Now he reads both cartridges without problem, and it prints like new.

Without paper, I could manually gently press the cartridge to the left and it would only print a page before she herself back in place in a position where it cannot be detected anymore.
