The screen of my laptop turns off when I connect HDMI cable

I have a HP Envy and when I connected the HDMI cable to my laptop to the TV it worked for about 5 minutes. Then, all of a sudden, my laptop screen and TV all have both be empty and the TV shows "Invalid Format". My laptop freezes. Even if I unplug my laptop HDMI cable remains empty. I have to do a hard reboot it is up and running. I plug the HDMI cable and it does the same thing. My friend connected to his laptop and it worked fine. Someone please help.

Click Start or press the Windows key and type power can locate the power to change recording settings in the section of the Control Panel from the list above and click on it. At the opening of the Power Options pane, click choose when turn off display available on the left side.

Choose a new setting for brightness in the drop down menu on the battery . Look at all the other parameters that you feel you want to modify, and then click save changes in the lower right to apply the options you have selected energy saving.

You have the screen image out to another monitor (one that is not plugged in fact). How you pass to the internal laptop display varies, but most cell phone companies make a combination of keys, such as Fn + F6 or something.  Looking for a symbol that looks like a monitor.  It is usually color coded and requires activation of a Fn key.

  • The screen of my laptop turns off when my battery is low. Can I turn this off?

I have the HP Pavilion n018sa 15. When my becomes low power (10%), the screen shuts off and I have to press the power button until it restarts. Is there a way I can stop my screen turn off without having to plug?

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

I think that your computer is in hibernation or standby is (or tries), but you see it as screen go off.

He must manage the bass and critical low levels of power - information management:

You can also stop the computer to go to sleep/hibernate:

  • HP 15-r011na: laptop turns off when it is attached cable ca

Hi, I recently picked up the upgrade of Windows 10 and since then have had problems with the laptop switching power, do not know if it is related to Windows 10 but seems a coincidence!  When I got close I use the power on the screen completely closes the button and the laptop.  When I turn it on it's ok, if I have the AC cable disconnected (i.e. using battery power) but if I have the AC cable the screen goes off, but then goes black and seems to have turned off again, and I have to press the power button to put on the.  Also, if I connect the cable so that the laptop is on it goes black immediately, and if I delete it the screen comes alive again.  Can someone tell me what's going on that I have no idea about these things, and it makes me absolutely crazy!  I would really appreciate some advice please.

    Hi @Greenjack67 ,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your laptop 15-r011na HP TouchSmart and the laptop turns off when it is attached cable ca. Here is a link to test and calibrate your battery for Windows 10.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

Plug the power supply directly into a different wall outlet. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

You can try to use the Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix updates that do not come through Windows 10.  Please restart the laptop twice to make sure that all updates are completed!

Here is a document that shows how update the drivers that do not work correctly with Windows 10.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    > Can someone help me with this issue?
How to help when we do not know what model of laptop and operating system do you use?

    Screensaver enabled or disabled?
    Do you use factory settings?
Did you install additional software which can have an influence in all this?

Sorry my friend, but it is not easy to discuss issues on this path.
Either offer some relevant information or... Google. ;)

  • Problem dual screen ' after working for a while, the screen of my laptop turns off.

    Original title: Problem dual screen

I use two screens (laptop screen and separate screen) to work. Windows 7 operating system. After working for a while, my laptop screen goes blank as if he goes to the standby mode. The monitor never goes out. Is - this cos win 7 does not support the spl double screen laptop computer and monitor at the time of amse?

Support COMPUTER told me he can't stand not and laptops are not designed to function as a two screens? Please notify.

    bs3dm

Portable computers support two monitors. The problem may be caused by two reasons:

    1. incorrect power setting.
    2. the problem with the drivers.
    1. you can download and open Microsoft Fix it for the question.
    2. update the display drivers. If no update is available, uninstall the drivers (and software), restart the PC, install the drivers (and software), restart the PC and then check.

    Hello

You use original Toshiba AC/DC adapter or another?
What happens if you connect the AC/DC adapter, while the laptop is turned off?

It s really strange problem, but I think that is s TI associated with AC/DC adapter or the motherboard itself

  • How can I get the computer to stop unless turned off when stopping and restarting will not work?

I now have to turn off the power switch of the computer to shut it down, and it does not restart at the request.

Turn of the automatic restart in case of error and then report the error message you get on the blue screen.

    And download BlueScreenView http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
Unzip the file and run it.

  • Laptop turns off when the lid is closed

Since yesterday, my Dell laptop randomly started shooting (sleep/hibernate but not stop) whenever I tried to close the lid.  I already checked my power settings and they remain unchanged.  I tried to do a system restore to a time before the problem began and tried to uninstall the driver from device (with a similar question in this forum).  Nothing has done so far.  The computer seems to work normally otherwise.

    Hello!!!

I also had the same problem with my Dell laptop with windows 8.1 running. Made all things possible to correct the error, but nothing works for me. Finally I discovered that the drivers installed for my adapter DVI to USB causes the problem. When I uninstalled the drivers, my computer began to behave normally. Try this one, if you have recently installed some drivers like that...

  • Computer user connection laptop turns off when the lid is closed

How can I configure my laptop to disconnect the current user (switch not only users) and force them to close all programs when the lid is closed, and then switch to sleep mode?

There is no direct option for this, but you can create a batch file that has orders for logoff, then the command for the night and have that run the trigger of "Lock Workstation".

Task Scheduler allows many triggers.  Type Task Scheduler in your Start menu, and then click New task on the right side to explore your options.
