The Smartphone blackBerry Desktop Manager installation problems

OK, this may seem a stupid question, so please bear with me...

I have some trouble installing the Desktop Manager software, version 4.2, for my 8320.  I am running Windows Vista.  When I install the program, everything seems to be okay.  I get no error message or anything.  He goes through the whole installation process, and then says it installed successfully and I click on the button "Finish".

But after the installation, I can't find the program anywhere on my computer.  It does not appear in the framework programmes.  It does not appear in my C:\ drive under program files.  I tried to search my hard drive for "blackberry", "research in motion" 'desktop manager', 'RIM', etc. and he doesn't find anything.  But, when I go to "Programs and features" in my control panel, "Blackberry v4.2.2 for handheld wireless 8320" appears on the list of programs, and I only have the option of where to uninstall.  What is the problem?

I have internet and can not find an answer.  I tried the fix javascript.dll I found (which was for the error messages, I don't get), I tried to disable the user account control, I uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times, the disc and the Web site.  All to nothing does not.

I'm going nuts... it's probably an extremely simple, obvious answer.  If someone could help, I would be VERY happy.

Thank you!

Thanks, I knew it was something obvious!  When I went to this link before, I was using "Blackberry Curve 8320" in this list, which gave me the 4.2.2 version.  I never even checked this list for version 4.6, b/c I thought by selecting the 8320 would give me the most recent version of the software for my phone.  Don't think.

Thanks for the help!

I had a problem with Roxio Media Manager constantly want to reinstall.  So I corrected this problem and and uninstalled the Blackberry software. Then I tried to re - install Blackberry Desktop software so that I can sync my contacts on my computer at home.  I tried this from a downloaded version 4.6 and with the version on my Blackberry CD.  Same problem with both.

The installation starts and claims of language, then installation starts for a few seconds.  Then I get this message:

Error opening installation log file.  Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable.

I can't get past this message.  He didn't tell where is the location of the log file.  Other installations of software, it's only the Blackberry software that will not be installed.  I tried to rename CProgram Files\Common InstallShield and make it read/write, but this install always fails with the same message.

Any ideas to try?  Nowhere else can I ask for help?

    Andy

    Thanks, that worked.

I unzipped the file, then I opened a cmd window and manually run msiexec with your Blackberry msi file.  I have added a flag/l to set the log file to a local file FichierJournal.txt and everything went well.

Maybe you specify a problematic log file name, at least for my computer?

Anyway, this new version of the Blackberry software works very well to keep my home contacts updated with my work contacts.  I'm glad that I was able to install without the Roxio media manager.  This program made me mad.

  • Smartphones blackBerry desktop software installation problems

    Hi all!

Just got my first BB - the Curve 8330.

I am trying to install the Desktop Manager software (version 4.5) from the CD included with the phone (Sprint).  I tried twice with no success and the same result - it hangs or freezes towards the end of the installation.  It is said it should "take several minutes", but an hour?  I didn't know that it would take too long.

I would try to cancel the installation, but nothing would happen and I would end up having to force its closure with the Manager tasks.  The icons would display, but the program itself would not do much.  Due to the partial installation, I couldn't uninstall it or restart the installation.  You had to do system restore to get rid of it.

I did it twice!  So now, I am currently downloading version 5.0 from this site (without Media Manager which seems to cause a problem) and see how it goes.

Has anyone else has this problem?  Should I have waited longer?

After much frustration, I tried one more thing.  After having been suspended for three hours, I restarted my computer (using the power button on the machine, because no matter what other way would not have worked).  I rebooted with the progress of installation still bar top and "running".

Then I ran the software disc and tried to install again.  He acknowledged that I had partially installed the DM software and he gave me the ability to edit, repair and another thing (don't remember).  I chose to fix it.  This completed the installation process!

When I made this installation, I did it without the Media Manager.  After the "repair", I could go back install Manager media without any problem.

What a relief to be able to back up my BB!

  • Problem installing the blackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0 syncronization

I just installed Desktop Manager on a computer running XP. It loads well, but when I try to set up the synchronization that it crosses all the way says congratulations you have configured the product, and then you click Finish and it is said that another system has not been selected. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it doesn't work. Any help?

Hi and welcome to the Forums! I can't tell if you tried this comprehensive procedure yet, so I'll give it to you to try...

I suggest the following steps (reboot insert a lot of restarting your PC... not only restarts, but at full power down). In addition, it is recommended that you are connected to the PC on an account with full administrator rights. In addition, Vista, use the option "Run As Administrator" for everything.

    (1) remove the package to update your device OS of your PC (Add/Remove Programs)

    (2) properly uninstall the RIM DTM software:

    (3) get a new RIM DTM software download:

    • Choose the version which is more recent and (if any) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
    • KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager to synchronize

    (4) to download a new copy of your package to your carrier OS device (on your PC):

    (5) install DTM on your PC

Installation of 6) (also on your PC), device OS package

    (7) start the configuration Organizer:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Roxio Media Manager installation problem

My Desktop Manager recently updated itself to the version 5.   Twelve Shortlly I started to get the error messages from the Windows Installer tries to configure Roxio Media Manager and do not find a roxio Media Manager individual .msi file.  It is a very insistent installation routine because no amount of 'Cancel' or the restart doesn't eliminate the process.  Very frustrating.  The error message is asking me to specify a different path to the folder containing the installation package, but it is not found by my browing.  Maybe it's somewhere else?

What should I do or cancel this installation to complete it?   Really, I don't like whatever it is, because I don't use a lot of Media Manager.  Thanks in advance for your help.

If you do not use the Media Manager, I suggest to remove it completely. From my experience it caused problems with the Desktop Manager software. I would uninstall the Desktop Manager. Uninstall Blackberry Destkop Manager (DTM) using this guide: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206

Then, download Blackberry Desktop Manager here (without Media Manager): https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22

Install it and I hope that everything works well again. Be sure to reconfigure your synchronization settings if you use them.

  • Conflict of blackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Desktop Manager with Sprint Smartview

I was using BlackBerry Desktop Manager (BDM) 4.6 under Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - bit for my BlackBerry "BOLD" syncing with my contacts, calendar and tasks Outlook 2007 files. I used Verizon VZ Access Manager with a Pantech USB modem to access the Internet. No problems.

Recently, I had to switch from Verizon to Sprint for Internet access and use now version Sprint SmartView 1.20.0016.0 with a Sierra Wireless Compass 597 EVDO Modem #2 (model #C597), assigned to Modem Port COM13. SmartView is started, it stops the BDM. If I take the BDM with SmartView running, the BDM will open. I can start the synchronization configured, but the program stops after a few seconds - not error messages. If I stop the SmartView program, the BDM is executed without incident (although it is very slow).

I uninstalled 4.6 BDM and downloaded BDM 4.7, to try to solve this problem. Unfortunately, the BDM needs access to the Internet to put in place the initial synchronization settings and I can not always run the SmartView and the BDM.

Does anyone have advice for me? I would like to be able to run both programs at the same time - and really NEED for initial installation. I've seen other users have reported the same issue in other forums, but have not seen all of the posted solutions. Thanks for all the proposals/solutions.

This problem has been resolved in Sprint v2.22.0042.0.

  • Bug in Smartphones blackBerry desktop Manager 4.2 synchronizing with lotus Organizer 6.1 after add my computer to my domain name...

    Hello!

Since a few days, we began the transfer of all of the computers on your new DC - AD 2008 R2.

Today, we make a single user who use the Desktop Manager to synchronize a calendar blackberry to a calendar of lotus Organizer. After the migration of the computer. The user can now log on to the domain and all the great work.

But when we try to sync the BB its does not work.

We repair the installation of the office 4.2 on the session of field Manager and redetect the BB from usb to the pc.

Windows xp sp3 when the user's connection in local mode, the BB and the synchronization works between organizing 6.1 and Office Manager. When I log into the domain of the user account.

Desktop Manager 4.2 after repair, opens correctly and the BB SPINDLE is a detection on USB port

I could go into the config sync configuration section the link between the organizer and BB.

In the section to display the list of available applications to synchronize.

If I choose the option to ascii file, I have a button to select the ascii file on the local drive or local network.

But when I select the type of file in lotus organizer, the button Choose the .or6 is not available...

This browse button is not in the local user account.

I guess that's a Group Policy object or other things like that that block this option...

I copy the folder "black berry" and "Research and motion" of the data folder of the application on my local user to my my domain user application data folder.

After I have restart the Desktop Manager 4.2 on my domain on the computer user account.

When the application start and open, his attempt to sync with BB, synchronization will find some files for the transfer, but the accident during the transfer.

When I go on the synchronization configuration option to choose my .or6 file, now I find out the name of my file and lotus Organizer connector have a yellow arrow that one as my or6 file is create.

But the Browse button is still not at the bottom of the configuration window.

So I couldn't go for a new selection of my file.

Normally this window gives the link information and the name of the file

    ex: c:\agenda\bob.or6

Now, I find out only bob.or6 on my sync window...

When I check in the synchronization log link

I discovered the full link of my or6 files, and I discover that I have connect on it, try to read some information on the calendar. and a log file end with an error code. Sorry I don't remember the code and I forgot to take the code in the note...

I'll post the code tomorrow morning.

I think maybe it's rules, which are applicable by the DC on the computer which block access to the file in writing or another

things like that. We add the domain of the user as a member of the administrator group, because the configuration of Desktop Manager 4.2 require it to start the Setup program and install the software...

Someone has an idea of the problem?

    emarck

    I found the solution!

This morning, I do the test install desktop manager 4.2 and my blackberry curve on a pc freshly up toward my area.  This pc has never seen a prior blackberry...

For people who are interesting to do the same, I put here the step by step guide:

    1. If a blackberry is always on the client pc uninstall all software

    Uninstalling lotus Organizer 6.1

    uninstall the Desktop Manager 4.2

and accept to clean all the files of configuration during the process.

Remove the blackberry device in Device Manager

    2. update the pc on the domain if is not always do.

    3. connect with the domain on the pc user, and not with the local section!

    4. once the session is entirely built, out of them and log in the local session the user (if it is admin on the pc), or a local administrator user...

Go to the management console to add to the computer administrator group, the domain user that use the blackberry.

Disconnect you and relog on domain user session.

    5. now, we are ready to start the lotus Organizer 6.1

    6. start the Desktop Manager 4.2 Setup program may restart or not at the end.

    7. When Desktop Manager 4.2 Setup is complete, start the software

After some time. Windows might be on the screen.

    8. connect the BB on the usb port of the pc, let windows detect the new hardware.

On small Yvon, when windows detects a new hardware BB, you need to push the drivers for usb BB by the device

Manager let windows to accept the installation of the BB,

Best practice I find to do that, is to extract the drivers ubs since the original cd of blackberry.

Because, if you put the cd of BB on the pc, he wants to start the Desktop Manager installation program include on the cd.

This version is younger and does not work with 6.1 lotus Organizer, so the BB will be perfectly detect in windows, but when you try to change to version 4.2, you must uninstall the new and valuable pilots at the same time...

You can find the drivers in the cab file on the BB installation cd.

I'm Audrey curve and "BOLD" use the same drivers...

    9. the Organizer is now ready, DM 4.2 is running and your BB is detect and loans in the windows taskbar...

Go to the DM 4.2 and detect your BB device, when it is detect and connect ready,.

Go to the option synchronize, select your .or6 file and associate it. Browse Famouse could be

present on the bottom of the windows when you select the format of lotus organizer file.

When the configuration is complete, don't forget to check the box for automatic synchronization when users plug in the BB to the

    computer...

10 test communication between BB and PC

Normally is Dm4.2 is open and the or6 file is available on a local drive or a card reader, the communication could be a success!

I hope this might help other people )

  • Error on blackBerry Smartphones: Blackberry Desktop Manager has stopped working

I use Desktop Manager 4.7.0.32 with a Blackberry Bold (9000); I sync with Outlook 2007 and I am running Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate w / SP1. Synchronization worked well for many years with previous blackberries, but the synchronization problem appeared after a year or two of use with my previous camera curve.  I replaced the curve with the bold thinking which damaged equipment could be the problem (one too many drops).

However, the problem persists.  While it seems I can synchronize with success a way (from PC to BB), Director of office falls down to halfway through synchronization of calendar entries in a synchronization two-way, unless there has been no new entry calendar on the BB. The error is an error generated windows inidcating: Blackberry Desktop Manager has stopped working.

I tried every solution I could find on the web, namely:

    • Uninstalling and reinstalling Desktop Manager, making sure that I run the installer as administrator.
    • My Blackberry wiping and reinstalling the operating system (I use 4.6.0.162)
    • Delete the Intellisync folder
    • Run scanpst on my Outlookpst file
    • Clear the entries of calendar on the Blackberry (temporary solution only)

The latter is the only approach that has produced no results.  If I delete the entries on the Blackberry, the

process synchronization adds them correctly, and the next time I run the synchronization, it works without a hitch.  As soon as I did all the entries on the BB unit however, Desktop Manager crashes again, and the only way I can make it work is to clear the entries on the Blackberry and start over.

I'm several months and both handsets of BB has invested in this issue now.  I have a new fancy camera, but am recorded in writing of the appointments on paper when I am out of the office because I know they used to synchronize if I enter them at BB.  Type of defeated half the point of a blackberry...?

Getting desperate here.  Help is appreciated.

    Brad

    Hello Brad!

I had the same annoying problem that you guys have described here.
After trough fishing a lot of post and forums I found a very surprising solution for another type of BB and a different version of the DM on XP and not Vista. Being desperate I tried and miraculously it worked!

Start the DM BB and go - Syncronize - set - synchronisation - synchronization (button) - calendar - Advanced (button) - mapping fields (field mapping button) and I got rid of the synchronization between the flag "alarm" and the "free occupied" and the fields "invited".

I did it and now everything works perfectly.

I have a BB Bold, Vista Ultimate (32 bit), MSOffice 2007 (PRO) and a DMv4.7.

I hope it will work for you also.

    Kind regards
    Steve

  • Smartphones blackBerry Desktop Manager help BB is encroached in my system and won't go away

    Hello

    I use Windows 7 Pro.

I use a device RIM BB is no longer. The problem is that I uninstall blackberry (with the option to unistall provided by the program), but then when I copy, specifically music files FLAC, for my device android windows see the android device as a device of camera with no drive, the blackberry desktop letters assing manager tries to run, but as he was "uninstalled" it returns an error. He tries to run up to 5 times and after that the files copied. If I want to copy several files flac both blackberry Desktop Manager tries to run 5 times for each file.

I first check with the windows Device Manager and found two entries for rim blackberry under ports and remove the drivers but the problem repeated. Then I use a search utility and found many files of residual waste of blackberry and progressed to remove those as well but the problem persists. Can I use a registry utility and found several RIMBB, RIM, Blackberry bloating's residual registry entries registry and progressed to remove those as well but the problem continues. At this point, you can see that the unistall tool provided by Blackberry suck because he left a lot of waste in your system. I also tried to use CCleaner, but it did not find anything related to the blackberry.

So garbage from blackberry sorft remnants are still encroached in my system, and since I use the tool uninstall, remove the drivers and there is no file with the name RIM, RIMBB or blackbery on the disk and no more with these name registry keys will find how can I get rid of Blackberry for once for all?

Here you can see a screen capture windows with the error message:

    http://i22.Photobucket.com/albums/B342/Edil/rimbberror_zps1tpkoiwq.PNG

Hey I managed to solve the problem!

I searched using the search of disk utility * {BE5B0450... 45 b} * the string that appears in the error message.

And where there are 3 directories with that name. I deleted these directories and now I can copy files FLAC without problems.

I wonder why the companies are so inrresposible and do not provide an unistall option that remove all their stuff from your system. Leaving a disk and registry inflated garbage that you no longer use.

    Any ideas?

I found this on another site:

(1.) start the Desktop Manager software

2.) connect the blackberry using the USB connector
    3.) select "backup and restore".
    4.) select "Advanced".
5.) look at the list of information to be displayed in the window "device memory" on your computer
6.) select "calendar all" and delete it
7.) go back to the main screen and synchronize them.
    8.), everything should work fine!

Essentially, it's a data file of damaged calendar on the Blackberry device, apparently.
