the startup is slow

Can you get it someone please tell me why Windows 7 takes about 5 minutes to start but Linux, on my other computer, it takes exactly 1 minute?

Is this something to do with all these 'damage' that I receive?

Thank you

It probably has to do with what you have configured (intentionally or not) to run at Windows startup.  And it depends on what you mean by 'start-up' - do you mean boot to the home screen or in your office?

As an experience, configure Windows to start in a "clean boot" configuration (DIRECTIONS) and to check the start time using a stopwatch.

You can use Autoruns to investigate the various points that start automatically, but not delete (or even disable) of an item unless you have a good idea of what it does.  In Autoruns, right-click on an item and select 'Search online' to open your search engine by default with results on the selected item.

Most of the elements that really bogged things do not begin until what you log your user account and your office opens.  This would include, for example, a startup virus scan.  Some services, including Windows Defender and automatic update of Windows, do not begin at start-up to the top (I think that the default is 2 minutes).  So, if you count the time until that stabilizes the Office and have a start aggressive antivirus scan, you do that with tarts Windows Update to see which updates you might need.

  • Reset to "help stop the startup slow browser" option

I had the opportunity to reset to "help stop the startup slow browser" option. He did his thing and now all bookmarks are gone. How to restore or find which profile these bookmarks are on.

Sorry to hear about this. Your old data must be in a folder on your desktop named old data from Firefox. You will find this file? If you go down the old profile folder (name is random semi, but often ends by default) and look for a folder named bookmarkbackups can you will find a file named recently along these lines:

    bookmarks-2016-11-12_9876_gibberishis .jsonlz4

In this example, 9 876 bookmarks have been saved on 11/12/2016.

If you have a good candidate for the restoration of your new Firefox, this article includes the steps:

Restore backup bookmarks or move them to another computer

Note: the recovery menu may show a fresh backup, but you should probably use choose a file and point Firefox in your old Firefox data folder to find the one you want.

    Hi Ron,

    Try the following.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type msconfig and press to enter.  In the System Configuration window, select the Startup tab and Remove the check mark next to the HP update agent.  Click apply and then click Ok to save the changes and restart the PC for this change to take effect.

I recommend editing utility Tempro, allows Windows so that it starts slowly.
    You have same edition.

Just remove the startup option (msconfig)

I'm looking for a software that will speed up the startup time and when I use the computer for a while, it is slow going on the Web site? do I need a registry cleaner? Please notify. I have two computers with xp and vista.

The only thing that's really going to "speed up" your computer is a faster processor, more ram and a faster internet connection.  Everything else is really a waste of money (IMHO)

I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 (I have set accidetally to level internet explorer to 9 widows. I need to Java and Adobe. But my computer is slow. I do not know what prorams that I need to run start or to uninstall... Someone really knows what I need to do?

FYI: with a topic like this, you have 2 strikes against you. Most of the people don't bother wasting time looking to see what your problem...  Next time be brief and specific about your problem, is to give an application (with version) and the code error or describe your problem briefly.

If you don't want to be a Guinea pig, you can follow these instructions to uninstall Explorer 9:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Internet-Explorer/help/IE-9/How-do-i-install-or-uninstall-Internet-Explorer-9

Looks like you want to control the programs that run at startup, right? It is always a good thing to do. You can run MSCONFIG (type in the search window on the start menu).  See the "Startup" tab  So, you can use other applications to display the same information. For example, CCleaner has a 'tool' that does the same thing.  NirSoft does: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/what_run_in_startup.html

Browse the list of questions, and if you decide all. For example many applications load stub apps to speed up their startup. If you do not use all the days of the app, uncheck the box and it does not load.  If you do not recognize, this is often the case, track the location of path or to register 'Command' to try to understand what program it is for.  Use google to search for file names. Other people have asked the same question and got answers on the importance of the application is.

Related, another thing to work is 'Services' (new type who, in the start menu, look for the window). They are a special software that runs in the background to provide services such as faxing or printing. Yet once, often you need not all services.  You can find a lot of information on how to do this in Google search for "Harden Win XP" or related expressions. They call it "Soak" because in this context deactivation of services makes your computer safer, more 'hard' hack by eliminating the places to be hacked.  Don't you worry that many of the articles are 5 or more years, they will be still valid.  Here are some links to help you get started:

  • I can't access the startup folder

My computer has been terribly slow. It runs Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 2.
I thought to reduce the number of startup programs.
Click on the change of starting programs in control.

When I click on this link: I get the Windows of your authorization needs to continue. When I click on allow that I get the message «Windows defender...» »
    I'm kind of a loop.
In a nutshell, that's the problem.

Another way to access the startup programs.

Attention... Make sure you understand the function of the program UNTIL you turn it off.

Start > Search box, type msconfig > Enter > Startup tab > here is the list of startup programs.

to disable... Uncheck the box in front.

    to activate the checkbox....

    Click OK when finished.

Why photos starts automatically when you restart. It is NOT in the folder.so of starting, why what is happening? I never use photos, so it's a loss of memory perfectly!

  • Uninstall the bootcamp partition: the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

A few months ago, I created a Windows 8 bootcamp partition, and then, I updated for Windows 10 without any problem. But I no longer need and I would attribute this space to OS X. The problem is when I try to remove it from the app of Bootcamp, I get this message: "the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. The startup disk must be formatted in a single volume in Mac OS extended (journaled) or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows. »

It comes to the current state of the hard drive:

According to this page, it is because of Windows recovery partitions added during the 8 to 8.1 migration and 8.1 to 10.

I check with diskutil and I found 2 partitions of Windows Recovery:

I tried to delete the Windows Recovery 2 partitions with disk utility tools but the button "-" to remove them were leaving is disabled.
