The Transition: GIMP to Photoshop

Hello!

I work exclusively on the GIMP for several years - and I really wanted to be more flexible and know how to work with the interface of Photoshop as well. But now that I finally have Photoshop Elements (9), so I'm completely lost... It is really depressing to feel like you're everywhere starting once again, be clueless how to get even the most basic effects.

So, does anyone have any advice for me? Are there good places to find comparisons of GIMP to Photoshop (or vice versa)? I would really some tutorials detailed, basic and advanced (videos or photo illustrated strongly tutorials help so much, especially). I really, really want to learn - and I'm not a dummy on programs in general, - but I'm struggling to make the transition.

Just a quick, specific question on culture, if someone can help... I'm trying to figure out how to crop the images to a specific size. In GIMP, I'm used to drag the selection of crops, looking at the tool options and see the boxes little edit-able with the exact size of the width and height in pixels. To do something, say, 200 x 200 pixels, you simply type in and press ENTER.

Now, maybe part of my problem transition to Photoshop is they want to do everything in inches? (Help! I'm not a numbers person, and my poor Dyslexic brain is dead! Is it possible to change things to measure by pixels in Photoshop?) But I also do not understand the crop tool, or how to obtain an exact size - or how to tell what size your current selection. Suggestions/tutorials that will show me where I am missing what is obvious?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Nave

On the crop tool options bar, enter w = 200px, h = 200px and the resolution value. Drag the crop area, then engage!

In the editor, go to Preferences > units & rulers under rules, open the menu drop down and select pixels. This will allow you to read the scale of the sovereign in pixels, but it is not required to achieve the harvest set in pixels.

Your PC suite has no impact on it, as it is too late for upgrade prices. Simply purchase you a new subscription to creative cloud.

  • Is it possible to soften the transitions in a photo where the program automatically generates pixels that fall between two values of different color?

Let's say you have an image with very harsh shadows or another type of abrupt changes in value. A domain is light, while the right of the box next to him has a darker value, without transition a lot in between. The values between the two are not enough to enjoy with the Clone Stamp tool. In addition, the smudge tool is not a desirable option because the results look too smooth and lacking in texture. Is there another way to soften the transition between these two areas involving Photoshop generation Pixel with a value that is between the sections of two colors?

I don't think that you will never get good results. Reshooting with a proper lighting would be much easier, but here's an example of use of frequency separation. I duplicated the layer low pass and even more fuzzy then hidden in transition from shadow areas, as well as a few alterations on the high pass layer.

  • The transition to Windows 7 pro for Windows 10 Pro for Adobe CC

    Hi all

I would like to get comments on the transition to Windows 7 Pro for Windows 10 Pro. I'm currently running windows 7 pro 64-bit with Creative cloud mainly for video editing applications (Organization, After effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, hearing etc... (I always use first CS6 and Encore CS6 for some projects more elders and Authoring).

My computer configuration is the following:

-Windows 7 Pro Service pack 1

-Processor Intel Core i7-4960 X [email protected]

    -Motherboard: Asus P9X79

    -64 GB of RAM

-SSD 512 GB Pro 840 Samsung

    -2 x ASUS GeForce GTX780

-9To hard (3 x 3-Western Digital Caviar Black) in Raid 0 for video work

-Hard disk data CaviarBlack WD 2 TB

I would evaluate whether it's a good idea to transition to windows 10 pro, is the update is going to be done automatically without having to reinstall all the software?

I'd appreciate your comments of a person with a configuration similar to mine, or by experts from Adobe

    Thanks in advance

  • Why is it I am paying twice the monthly fee for Photoshop CC?

I recently accepted a contract for Adobe PhotoshopCC and started paying £17.58 per month and I bought a download of Adobe's Lightroom. Since then, I've noticed that the CC of Photoshop and Lightroom is available for £8,78 per month which is half what I pay.  I already have the CS4. Adobe do not have a link for customers who want to question their rental packages. I think I'm being ripped off!

    Hi TonyW14,

If you have a version of CS4 product approved for you, it will be preferable to conyact Adobe as qoted in

    http://www.Adobe.com/au/products/creativecloud/FAQ.html#PSLR-bundle

Customers who are already qualified as eligible to make the transition to this new program have already been informed.

All other members of creative cloud that meet the qualification requirements can contact Adobe Customer Service to discuss the transition of their membership to this new offer.

    Kind regards

  • Save the transitions as elements?

I have a bunch of movies that will need the same transitions intro and outro, is there a way to save the transitions as an element so I can just copy and past them in quickly?

    Thank you.

You can save short assemblies and projects with transitions between dummy clips.  You could then copy and paste into a new project and replace the dummy clips without affecting transitions.  Drag the new video on the model so the green '+' sign shows and then select "replace".

    Geoff.

  • Remove all the transitions and lengthen the stills in bulk

I have three questions about my project in Final Cut Pro 10.2.3:

    1. 1. I am not satisfied with the transitions.  Is it possible to remove it at once?
    2. 2. I would like to mix transitions.  Is there a way to put random transitions in bulk between cuts (which are mostly still images) or must be placed individually?
    3. 3. I would like to increase the duration of viewing on still images from 3 to 4 seconds.  Is there a way to do this in bulk?  If not, is there a way faster than anything by dragging each picture by the edge?

Thank you for your time and patience.

    1. go in the chronology and index search index of clips for transitions. If they are all cross dissolves cross research. Select them all and delete.

    2 No.

    3. Select all images. Press Ctrl-D and type in a value. 400, then press on return.

  • How can I install the plug-ins for Photoshop CC 2015.5, Capitan

I have huge problems of installation of plug-ins for Photoshop CC 2015.5 Capitan. What is the difference with the 'Actions' / Plug-ins.

I used Photoshop for a while, but certainly not a professional. The new version of Photoshop CC of 2015 to 2015.5 is driving me crazy. I almost wish I had my version 2015 return.

I just bought some plug-ins from PanosFX but just can't seem to get them in CC 2015.5. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

    Thanks much Maggi Merritt

There is much information on this on various Adobe pages: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/plug-ins-extensions-photoshop-cc.html

  • Flash Player on the transition to Windows 7

I've just updated my operating system from Windows XP to Windows 7 Pro (SP1). I can't install Adobe Flash plugin for fire Fox and Seamonkey on Windows 7. I managed to install Flash internal Explorer, and Chrome.

I have tried many remedies offered on your web site and various blogs - all without success. They included uninstalling Ad-blocking, suspending the firewalls and Antivirus systems, uninstall and reinstall Flash etc. I am currently on version 16 of Flash.

With Windows XP Flash worked on all browsers without any problems. I use the same Dell 9200PC without modification.

Is there any fix that I missed this annoying problem?

Re: Flash Player on the transition to Windows 7

The problem is now resolved, do not know how...

I think it was the force gross, just kept asking read movies and returned to Adobe error report. Think I must have upset them enough!

  • Apply the transition to single layer

I have a logo with an alpha channel, to which I would apply a transition when it appears in the timeline - in this case the "Directional" blur

In this case, the layer below is a graphic background I want to leave it alone.

I can't find a way to make the transition will apply ONLY to the logo layer, it always blurs the layer below as well.

    The ideas people?

The usual solution in this case is to make the connected music and transitions in a compound clip - then the transition will not affect those underlying.

  • "Clips do not have enough media for the transition?

I have two clips between which I want to insert a cross fade.  The first clip is 19 seconds long, the second is 16 seconds.

When I try to put in the transition (I did two seconds of time), I get a message saying "Clips do not have enough media for the transition."  He will accept no transition more than 0.1 seconds.

It makes no sense to me.  There are a lot of media for the transition time.  Can someone find out who's the problem and a possible solution?  Thank you.

If it's important, the first clip is a mp4 video, and the second is a jpg photo.

  • Why changing the transition time during production

Despite the definition of duration of the transition in the preferences (I opt usually for 1.5 seconds), it continues to change and in my last video, almost completely disappeared at the end of my video. Why is it you? Annoying damned!

Your profile says you are running OS 10.8.1. What version of iMovie using you? Probably your problem is related to the additional media for the components of the package. iMovie needs media available beyond the duration of the clips in the timeline panel in order to build the transition. It will use your preference settings if proper media is available, but shorten the transition if the default value is greater than the amount available. I think iMovie 10 which is 1 second.

  • Yellow triangle with exclamation point after the transition of FCPX in motion

Not finding what I'm doing wrong. Once I edited the 'Circle' of FCPX transition in motion, then saving them in the blue circle, but when I use it, I get this error of brand triangle yellow/exclation and the transition does not. Any ideas?

    Overdraft.

Necessary FCPX updated to the latest version. That's all.

  • You cannot change the length of the transition from photo album

Does anyone know why I can't change the length of one of the album transitions four other than 16 frames photo?  The transition moves way to fast to a half second really give me the effect I was hoping.  Working with fcpx 10.2.3.  Running on an iMac, El Capitan, 10.11.3.  Any thoughts?

The duration of the transition is controlled by the amount of available handles extra beyond the edit point. To increase the duration, you may have the trim, the shots to put at the disposal of the media more. Hand and waving of the Edit with the tab at the top of the transition point.
