The Windows Update site is down?

I just tried to run the update of Windows, and he says that the site cannot be displayed.  Is the site down temporarily, or is there a problem with my computer?

  • Anyone know if there is a problem with the "Windows Update" site? Since May 11, 2010...

Anyone know if there is a problem with the "Windows Update" site? As of May 11, 2010 I could not access it for 2 days now.  I get an error report indicating that he has a "problem with the site '... Not sure if it's my computer or the site itself. I just need to check updates and download them. I would be grateful for any feedback...  Thank you!
    ~ Jenifer

It is without a doubt.  There were a few patches published today, and I was able to update all my machines successfully.  This looks more like a virus problem.  Have you run a virus scan recently?  Many times, if you are infected the virus will prevent you to access Windows Update.

You can also use Microsoft Fix It to reset the Windows Update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.  This could also be your problem.

Let me know how it goes,

I think that your machine feed some MS, blocking of malware.

Hard & more difficult scanning with multiple AV programs (not at the same time)

You can access Kaspersky or Norton site? If this isn't the case, then you definitely a virus blocking area.

Try to use another uninfected machine to see these articles & download latest anti programs anti-virus & updates in offline mode. Then those of the infected machine transport of optical disc.

Don't use USB drives because the virus will try to put a back to itself on your storage device USB that will infect the machines in the future or infect your newly developed system in shape again.

In the worst cases, or for beginners full disk HARD formatting & at the same time the formatting of USB storage are more protective defense.

  • Unable to get access to the Windows Update Site. IE says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

I am not able to access the MS Update site and receive page cannot be displayed error when I browse them directly or search results. I am able to navigate without problems to other web sites. Any ideas? I see all kinds of references to this in all directions, but the solutions that have been suggested do not work for me. I use McAfee anti-virus following personal firewall installed - version 10.15. I tried to disable the firewall (some messages indicate that this is what keeps me to access the update site), but still cannot access the MS. Update site

    Any ideas?

I am running Windows XP Professional SP3 with Kaspersky Internet Security 2012.  Windows is no longer automatic updates (don't know how long it has been like that), and when I try to manually check for updates from the Windows Update Web site, an error is returned: 0 x 80070424.  After some troubleshooting, I found that Windows Update is missing in the Services list.  Also, I ran a few Microsoft Fix It solutions without success.  Please notify.

  • I've deleted and reinstalled .NET Framework, but it cannot update from the Windows update site.

I had a problem with Net Framework and ran a deleted program recommended to Skydrive, that worked. I then re-installed Net Framework but I am unable to update as it is stated on the Windows site: www.update.microsoft.com. The site identifies the necessary updates and installs.

Download and install the .net updates manually. Use of the KB number listed for each update and then perform a search using google for download. Example: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=1241

It's a Dell Dimension 2400 and I have the original CD of the operating system (Windows XP Professional including Service Pack 1a).

I also have the MS XP product key of the "label" on the side of the computer.

Also, I use Norton 360 and who will download this machine as soon as I have the other updates that have been completed.

After you install N360 follow these steps:

    (1) performance "Live update", may need to run it more than once to install the updates. Note: A reboot may be necessary.

    (2) run a "full system scan".

    (3) run a full scan of the "reputation".

This will reduce the initial impact of any perception of a slowdown in performance. If you have N360V5 you are entitled to a free upgrade to N360V6.
