the z820 RAID configuration problem

Hello

I have a newly opened (running the BIOS 3.52) z820 workstation. I would get my RAID configuration Setup program, but I have problems following the steps in the maintenance and Service guide:

http://h20628.www2.HP.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c03424977-1.PDF

More specifically, in the section "Setting up system BIOS", after confirming the RAID + AHCI is defined for the SATA Mode and Post Messages are enabled, then step 4 says that enable 'SATA RAID Option ROM download. There is none of these items under Device Options. I don't see "SAS Option ROM download", which is already activated.

In addition, after leaving the BIOS settings, there is no CTRL + C or CTRL + I, option to enter RAID settings...

Indeed, I checked that there are two drives running on the machine...

Anyone know what is happening?

Thank you

Jake

Oh and pass a legacy just for test purposes - unless you have already done.

I have a little trouble on a server R610 in RAID5 with 3 disks and RAID H700 card.

The 1st disk in "Foreign" State, the second in 'Fail' and the 3rd en 'Oneline '.

    The virtual disk 'offline '.

Can I do a clear at the level of the 'foreign config' pour rebuild the 1st disk or DO I wait to replace the drive en "failure"?

    Thank you for your response.

    Laurent_Rio,

The first chose you want to do is import the foreign configuration on the disk. (See below pour steps)

This should use the reader to go online after its importation, then proceed to rebuild the defective disk.

Do not erase the foreign, low - configuration you import it. In the BIOS of the controller RAID (Ctrl + R) highlight the controller of the group which includes the virtual disk, para on F2 and is the foreign configuration, then to IMPORT FOREIGN. After the failed drive can automatically start rebuilding, but if not then start the system and see if the data is accessible. If Yes, then you can get a backup, and then launch the reconstruction after.

Let me know how it goes

The first thing you want to do is to IMPORT the foreign configuration on the disk. (see below for the procedure)

This will cause I hope the reader to go online after it is important and then proceed to rebuild on the failed drive.

Do NOT clear the foreign configuration, remember to import.

Controller raid BIOS (Ctrl-R) highlight the group controller that includes the virtual disk, hit F2 and select foreign Config, and then select IMPORT FOREIGN. • RAID configuration problems

I am in the process of setting up a new pc, with (among others):

    -Asus P9X79

    -i7 - 3930K

    -32GB 1600 G.Skill RipjawsZ

    -Asus GTX 660 Ti TOP

    -Samsung 830 256 GB SSD

    -4 Seagate Barracuda 2 TB

Windows is installed, Production Premium 5.5 and Norton Internet Security. All fully updated. It works perfectly, even if the performance of the disk should be improved a bit.

But when I try to change the SATA setting in the BIOS to ACHI to RAID, Windows won't start. BSOD a short while after the animated Windows Startup logo appears (code 0000007 b, no description whatsoever except a CHKDSK /F is recommended).

What's not? Have I forgotten a simple step or make me a more serious problem? I haven't started yet by selecting the disks for the raid still (planning to 2 of the 4 Barracudas in a RAID0 configuration).

    Any ideas are appreciated.

I made this establishment a few times using esxi in vmware workstation and used vmotion on it without any problem.

I don't know if that is a problem because of the CPU as the 1850 uses a Pentium 4 XEON and the 2950 a Quad core (coreduo) Xeon. On the vmware workstation it worked well because I use a processor core 2 duo as well. Is this because VT? they are capable of 64-bit P4 Xeons is not VT

in the 1850s, I have fiber connected to a SAN network cards, but I removed the warehouses of data from it as I myself suspect this could have an impact on HA configuration, but as you expected, it did not help :/

You guys have no idea what I can do?

Can you send me the tarred contents of the directory/var/log/vmware to host?

The compatibility of the processor is not the problem. The two hosts are able to communicate on port groups 'management' common?

  • Z210: Bad support/problem with recovery of an Z210 system when changing the RAID configuration backup

My Z210 accompanies stripped Bay RAID-0, which currently consists of 2 x 1 TB HDD where the OS partition. I want to change that in RAID-1 mirror, but as the application of TSRI does no such RAID level migration, I thought I would try another approach.

As a solution, I'd do a backup using the Windows backup and restore application. Then, I would change the table using the Boot ROM TSRI before restoring the backup to this new array. But obviously backup 1.9 TB in a table of 932GB will not

So, to make a backup, I firstly disabled 'System Protection' and the file 'Page '. This allowed me to reduce the OS partition to about 50 GB using disk management. Then I re - activate 'System Protection' and the 'Page file' before making the backup and the creation of a system recovery disk. This resulted in a backup of 35 GB that I stocked up on a USB external drive. And now a backup of 35 GB can fit on my reconfigured 932GB RAID - 1 mirror

As such, I cold booted my system and during the boot process, I pressed CTRL-I to get the State of mind RAID Intel Boot ROM. you, CTRL-I've worked only if I started cold and the HP USB keyboard directly connected the first USB slot at the back of the system. The first USB slot is at the top left when you look at the back with the portrait of the tower. Connect the HP USB keyboard in USB port or in the hub of my Dell monitor does not allow me to access the ROM to Boot Intel RAID!

HP should really study this fault

In any case, when I could access the Intel RAID Boot ROM, I deleted the RAID-0 stripped existing and created a new RAID-1 mirror. Obviously, the process is destructive and wipe the BONES of the table but that's what my backup was to

Then I started on the Windows system recovery disk, plugged the USB external drive and proceeded to recover my system.

Everything worked as expected with the operating system partition uses about 50 GB. A simple trip to disk management enabled me to extend the volume to occupy the space allocated, as presented by the RAID-1 array. As such, I find myself with about 932 GB partition that appear in the windows disk management tool. After a check disk and reboot (which fixed some minor issues) all seemed well.

    But no, everything was fine

Well that ROM boot RAID Intel sees that a mirror RAID-1 about 932 GB and the operating system sees a partition about 932 GB, both as expected, demand for Intel RST in windows States the following:

I don't seem to have indication of what type of table, it is, an options to change the name of the table or an option to check the integrity of the array through the TSRI application in windows. If something is screwed

But after the update for the application of iRST version 10.6.0.1002 Intel (the newest HP of) version 11.2.0.1006 (version Intel got very practice), the question seems to correct itself. Now the RAID, Windows boot ROM and the request of TSRI in Windows all agree that the table is indeed a mirror RAID-1 932 GB.

I don't know what caused the problem, if it's related to something that was wrong with the process that I used, if she is simply resolved by reinstalling driver, or if this is a fix for a known issue that Intel has included in their questions later from the pilot.

But what I know is that Intel has resolved a number of issues in the version 12.9.0.1001 driver (which is the latest version for the Cougar Point chipsets) compared to the old driver version 10.6.0.1002 HP has on its support page for the Z210.

And HP seems unwavering in his lack of interest in the Intels 12.9.0.1001 test pilot and then make it available on its support page for what is a product still under warranty

It is a mediocre service if you ask me...

Some HP forum administrator or HP support person hide these forums should impose it in the HP management station and get it looked at. The Z210 is still under warranty for some customers and HP needs to pick up the latest drivers available to all suppliers, test them and then release them to their customers via the support page for this product. All the rest is little change us all.

I was able to resolve the application problem Intel RST by updating to the latest v11.2.0.1006 Intel driver but it has highlighted a few points that HP should address, see linked post above.

PS: Add this post so I can mark the thread as solved.

  • Model of card mother T7500 and configuration of the controller RAID LSI 1068e

Hi, I just bought a T7500 workstation I would get around mid-December. Because of current prices for HARD drive storage, I decided to go with the 500 GB basic disk up to HEALING of Thailand. Thus, I am limited to basic integrated RAID controller. Because I am not familiar with the RAID configuration, etc. I wanted to read more before I dive in. The starting point would definitely find what was right for the Precision T7500 motherboard. Surprise! I can't find information anywhere. Even Dell people (3 different sales and support representatives) have not managed to tell me it's the Intel 5520 chipset (it looks that they believe that it is the motherboard model...). Well, I'm stuck. I would appreciate if someone could provide me with the model of motherboard and Special Edition, all information on the capabilities of the controller integrated RAID (LSI 1068e) would help me determine what drives should I plan to buy. In addition, one thing that is not clear to me what I inferred from the configuration on the website Wizard is the issue around disks > 2 TB. Of after I read it, I was not able to determine whether the problem was related to the simple readers > 2 TB or if it was related to the management of a storage space > 2 TB (which could be composed of several readers less than 2 TB). What I have in mind (remember that I do not have the machine right now) is to 4 X 1 TB drives in a RAID 0 + 1 (which I'm not sure that the integrated controller supports) configuration that will result in the storage of 2 GB mirrored. The operating system is Win 7 64 bit. Thanks in advance for any info that will help me to prepare my setup (buy hard drives, if I can find cheap ones) and find information on the configuration of the RAID. MrBricole

I'm sure the T7500 uses an Intel Server Board (since this chipset is located on the Intel site under its motherboards, Dell is essentially correct, even if they didn't know why), but it doesn't matter in the context of your question, because the '' integrated '' RAID controller is not actually on the Board.  It's a card (called "integrated" only because it has a slot on this machine).  Because the functionality of the RAID controller is not on the Board of Directors, Board info will not help you.  Everything you need to know about your Council and the entire system, you can get the T7500 manual.  SAS 6/iR (LSI 1068e) RAID controller information can be found here:

NOTE from the ADMIN: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >

The SAS 6/iR will not support more than 2 TB of drives, or it will support more than 2 TB of virtual disks.

It will also only supports RAID 0 OR RAID 1 OR both, but not together (not levels no RAID nested as RAID 10 or 0 + 1).

So with four 1 TB drives, you can easily do two RAID 1 (called integrated mirror in the controller BIOS CTRL-C)... or you can do two 2-drive RAID 0 (Stripe called integrated in the controller BIOS CTRL-C)... or you can run mode non-RAID, with four individual discs in the operating system.  With this controller, those are your only options with four 1 TB drives.

If you want / need more features RAID (nested RAID, 2 TB of the VFD above, on board levels, cache, etc.), you must upgrade to the PERC 6 / i.

Do not buy office records class... Make sure you get enterprise-class drives.  If you decide at some point to go with PERC, not only enterprise class disks will be fundamentally necessary, but certified records would be strongly recommended for stability and performance.

  • HP ENVY 750-170se: cannot access the RAID configuration via Ctrl + i on startup

I activated the RAID in BIOS > Storage Options > SATA emulations.

There are 2 drives HARD correspondents attached to the SATA 2 ports & 3.

At startup the Intel Rapid Storage screen shows the two discs. It shows the prompt to hit "Ctrl + I" to enter setup.

However: when I hit, stand or mash Ctrl + I, before, during and after the screen from the IRS, it never penetrates RAID installation.

What keeps me to enter RAID configuration menu?

Is there some SATA ports I need the HARD drive to be attached to the?

Motherboard is the model 2B4B, verson A0.11 BIOS

Based on this post I tried to use Intel Rapid Storage to make the RAID. TSRI was not installed/available in Windows so I donwloaded it... during the installation I was told there was a newer version already installed (which is weird because I couldn't access it).

TSRI in Windows made the RAID volume. No need to enter during POST/boot.

    Hi etaf,.

I guess the short answer is: Yes, the problem with the software and the 3.0 Port.

The long answer with a possible work around is as follows: first of all, the software looks for minimum requirements. Because the software is older, he doesn't know what a 3.0 port. You are right when you say that it should work since you do not use the USB and use wireless instead, but this is not the case.

There is something we can try, but I can't guarantee it will work. I thought first we could connect a USB cable and run the software made to force the software to see the USB port, but then the software wouldn't even get far enough because you can't plug the cable to the most later in the installation.

My second thought and most promising suggestion is to connect the USB cable (although we do normally not until the software prompts us to) and use the installation wizard HP Print to get the insteaad of software to use the CD or download from the printer driver page. Still, I can't say with certainty that it works, but I don't see why it would not be worth a try.

If it works, and we get the software installed you can convert the USB connection to a wireless connection using the software. Fingers crossed! Download and run the with the following link. Printer HP install wizard for Windows

If this does not work, or you don't want to bother with it (not worth trying), I might consider getting a new model of the printer. You can even call HP. They might be able to offer a discount on a newer model. If you are in the Canada, U.S. dial 800-474-6836 or you can Contact HP worldwide.

Recently had to do a fresh install of the operating system.  Windows XP x 64.  Have Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500.  Installed the last service pack.  Have now the configuration problem trying to install the mouse driver.  Installation of Intellipoint 6.3 for Windows XP (64-bit) IS NOT LIST Comfort Mouse 4500 as an option to select.  I know it's courable on this operating system, as I had before the recent new facility I run.  Previously, I actually got an automatic update of the Windows Update driver for this mouse (under my previous installation).  Have not yet received the driver update.  How can I find and install it myself?

What exactly is the 'configuration problem' here?

Uninstall and reinstall the mouse drivers to see if that does the trick.

Alternatively, you could wait and search automatically updates via Windows update, since you said that you have previously received an update.

    See you soon!

  • Configurator error 'the hard size in the first string of RAID must be smaller than the drive selected in the second Raid channel'

Hello, I hope this is the forum for this question rigth.

I am trying to set up a new T330 for one of our customers, and I want to use a Raid 1 + Raid 1 configuration. First raid for the operating system and daily backups, second raid for a database.

I tried the C15c configuration, but I always get the error "the size of the hard drive in the first RAID channel must be smaller than the selected hard drive in the second Raid channel".

Is it really necessary to buy an SSD that is bigger than the HD used in the first Raid? The DSS may be relatively low, but I need more space for the backup.

Is there an alternative solution to this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Stefan

Yes. In fact, you can mix drive types on the SAME channel... they just cannot be mixed in the same virtual disk (table).

  • Desktop Dell XPS 8500 - complete Instructions for the necessary Raid 1 configuration

Hi, soon I will get this system and it consists of the 256 GB ssd for the OS, etc and has 2 GB SATA for data. The ssd has his own connection to the Board of Directors and that leaves "2no" 6 GB/s & 2No / 3 GB/s sata ports on the card. The OS is windows 7 ult, but I don't want to use software raid.

I bought a 2nd disc identical sata hard and want to configure hardware raid 1 for data. I am assuming they will be connected to the 6 Gbps ports because there will be 2 optical drives that I hear are connected to ports / 3 GB/s

Can anyone provide a step by step instructions regarding the implementation of raid 1 as soon as I get the computer. It will be used until I have set up the raid. If you can try to fool it would be great (for example I have to disconnect the ssd before setting up the raid, the new sata drive has to be formatted first, etc?)

I'm sure support Dell can instruct me on how to do it, but I am usually able to do minor hardware upgrades and have done things as OS reinstalls before so I don't know with a clear set of instructions, it should not be too difficult!

Thanks for any help you can give

There are two processes that allows to set up a RAID.  The technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology console and the Intel Option ROM RAID configuration utility.  Intel recommends using the console of RST on a system that already has Windows installed and working, but I do not know why the RAID configuration utility could not be used as long as the system drive must not be included in the RAID.

If the RAID configuration utility is used, you end up with an empty RAID volume that must be partitioned and formatted as any hard drive, you add to the computer.  This is done by using the disk management application.  If the RST console is used to migrate RAID from a drive with data on it, the RAID created will have the same structure that we find on the disc for the migration, so partitioning and formatting would be necessary.

To use the console of the RST, consider this: Intel Rapid Storage Technology User Guide.  Article 8 contains information specific to your goal.  The document also covers the RAID configuration utility, however, so it would be a good idea to consult the entire guide.  The computer must have the RAID mode is enabled before attempting to set up a RAID.  The guide gives a 'how', but remember the screens shown are for motherboards from Intel which differ slightly from the version of Dell.  The guide also provides information about using the RAID configuration utility.  The biggest difference between the use of the console of the RST and the RAID configuration utility, the Setup utility doesn't allows you to move from an existing drive.

  • Configuration problem of the mixture of the regions with and without installation of persistence of the disc causing the JSONFormatter to fail

I have trouble setting my local setup correctly with a mixture of regions with different configuration of persistence of disc.  Is a configuration problem on my end or a bug in GemFire and/or Spring GemFire data?

The configuration of my work is as follows:

With the above configuration, I can successfully call JSONFormatter.fromJSON (json) and get a reference to a PdxInstance object.  However, when I kinda modify configuration to enable the persistence of drive on one of the regions, the call to JSONFormatter.fromJSON (json) fails.  The change is as follows:

Thanks for any help in advance.

    Hello

JSONFormatter PDX uses as is the serialization mechanism from the Gemfire cache. As indicators of error, you must have your persistent PDX meta-data when you use PDX with an area that itself is persistent. Adjust your configuration as follows:

It will use a default for PDX record store, but you can also use a specific store if you wish.

When you use PDX, a "PDXType" is created for each class serialized with PDX and this type id is stored with the data in the region. If this region is persistent, then the PDXType, associated with this object must also be kept.

  • Problems with the 'Grid entity' configuration consistency

I have difficulty getting the configuration work "Entity grid" consistency. I'm on Oracle Version consistency 3.6.0.4 Build 19111. I carefully followed the instructions for the third scenario configuration consistency documented on the page "JPA on the grid" [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e16596/tlcgd003.htm#CHDGGGAJ] here. I will include excerpts from the records, but I think that I have been following the docs. I must be missing something that the docs report directly? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The problem I encounter is that when this 'Grid entity' coherence mode is used, the entities are not reading from the database when the application starts. The application behaves as if there is absolutely no data in the database, even if I know that I have lines in tables to backup my entities. In my test dummy application, I also have problems persistent entities. If I temporarily disable consistency commenting annotations {noformat}@Customizer{noformat} entity everything works perfectly (DataSet starting loads from the database as expected and new entities are correctly preserved). If I change to the "grid + hidden +" things configuration seems to work fine. But it's not ideal because we want the features of read/write of entityof the grid.

And the error when you try to make persistent the new entity:
javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: Error committing transaction:; nested exception is: javax.persistence.OptimisticLockException: Exception [EclipseLink-5004] (Eclipse Persistence Services - 2.1.3.v20110304-r9073): org.eclipse.persistence.exceptions.OptimisticLockException

So just to sum up, I currently see two problems: 1) no data from the database consistency and implementation — why not consistency out of database? and (2) what's this persistent mistake on OptimisticLockException? Thanks again for any help.

JPQL API criteria or both will result in coherence filters when using GridRead or GridEntity.
TopLink grid has no way of knowing if the data in the cache are sufficient to satisfy the query, for example based on the provided query TopLink grid would determine how between a user with no book and insufficient. Your application will need to determine that not enough has been stored in the cache or to perform an initial charge in bulk for a particular user to redirect the request to the database programmatically. Queries of grid can easily be redirected to the database by setting the IgnoreDefaultRedirector on the query using query.setHint (QueryHints.QUERY_REDIRECTOR, new IgnoreDefaultRedirector()); Read from the database of entities will be automatically pushed to the consistency.
