ThinkPad E330 BSOD

A few months ago that I posted here on random BSOD, the slowness of extended priority response guaranteed when things go wrong. So to summarize, repeated BSOD, change of hard disk, the problem persists, has changed the map system. It took more than a few weeks.

The problem continued, once again, slow to get an engineer on site is poor.

The value of the extended warranty is poor.

Second Board change of system for this machine in three years, I guess the response time could be better. The technical capacity of the engineer was good.

  • New Thinkpad E330 - cannot access BIOS

    Hi all

Starting today, I am the proud owner of a new Thinkpad Edge E330. I really the device and think it's a great buy!

    However,...

The device comes with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit installed. And I wanted to run Ubuntu 12.04 in a Setup to dual-boot with it, I had plent of expierence that and it shouldn't take more than an hour to get there. Right?

Well, no. When I took out my USB with laptop computer started in Windows install Ubuntu. Again, no problem, I should just put the USB device as my primary boot device in the bios.

And that's when things go wrong. At the start I noticed the startup screen, saying: "press ENTER FOR AVORTER START NORMAL."

So I did and I got a window saying press F1 to start the configuration of the BIOS.

I press F1 and there I get a FLASHING CURSOR.

And nothing... He stayed there... Same thing with the other options in the menu I get when you press on enter, they all give me a blinking cursor...

I tried from the BIOS without pressing enter first and just hit F1 for a few times. However, it comes also with a blinking cursor...

What do guys? I'm a little disappointed that my brand new laptop can't do something 'normal' as simple as changing the boot priority...

I already searched the forums and the internet to people with the same problem, but they never seem to match my problem and seem to be related to problems of Windows 8... I got Windows 7 though...

I would appreciate help! I bought the laptop in an online store, so going back is not as simple as that...

    Looking forward to your help!

I'm not familiar with the E330, but on some systems of edge of the Fn button is set as "always there" as a default setting.  What happens if you press Fn + F1, the same?

And just in case, ensure that you have detached from your USB key.

  • ThinkPad E330 cannot enter BIOS/UEFI more

Hey guys, I got a very annoying problem with my E330.

He came without OS, so I put 8 Win on the preinstalled HARD drive. Then, I went out for one SSD and put Win 7 on it.
    (all UEFI mode)

Since then I can not enter in the BIOS/UEFI more press either Enter or F1.
Pressing enter gives me still a beep, but then Windows continues to load normally instead of view several options, like he used to do.

And yes I am aware that I need a cold start to Win 8 to enter the UEFI

The only way to access UEFI at this time is through charms-bar restarting 8 Win in UEFI thing.

I tried to reflash the BIOS that does not of course because this is the same version, tried to remove the CMOS battery, that gave me an opportunity to enter the UEFI with F1 when he complained the date/hour of time.

Switching to Legacy only brings me to an infinite PXE - something loop of the error, but I still cannot get into the BIOS.

I tried pressing all combinations of keys Fn + F and without the Fn. Nothing works.

I don't want to return the laptop, but it is a deal breaker for me if I can't Win 7 running on this subject with UEFI accessible.

OK, the problem was solved with the help of the someotherguy of the user from the forum. It has detailed instructions.

Looks like that install Win 7 mode UEFI corrupts the BIOS.

Can you try to go to services and verify that autoconfiguration WLAN service is started and set to automatic. Otherwise, set it to automatic, and then restart Windows. Check and see if you can scan for WiFi. If this is not the case, try to do the following:

Go to control panel-> network adapters-> right click on "wireless network connection". Click 'properties. -> Wireless networks-> use Windows to configure my wireless network settings

This disables PROset Wireless management wireless connections and uses the Windows ' Wireless Zero Configuration' utility.

The last attempt is to remove Proset then go into Device Manager and remove drivers ensuring to "remove the software driver for this device" then reboot and install the Proset drivers.

  • ThinkPad Edge E330 WiFi turn off

    Hello everyone

I have Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E330. I run on Ubuntu. Laptop was connected to the Wifi thw and was on the sector without battery. When I put the battery unplugged AC and portable opend my wifi stoped working. It is said: Wifi is disabled by the hardware switch. The problem is that this model does not have any material pass over her body. I tried a lot of things:

    -Load default in BIOS

    -Reinstall Ubuntu completely

    -Search in ubuntu forums

    Thank you for the help

    Hello elFilipko,

exactly the same thing happened to me today and it's how I managed to fix it:

    1. I downloaded four Windows drivers as described here (tthere first of all one of the links is not active more so I downloaded this driver in its current version of support.lenovo.com - Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 8).

    2. I installed all the drivers on my Windows 8 (I have dual boot - Win 8 and Ubuntu).

    3. after restarting the computer and reboot back to Windows, I pressed F9 to enter parameters related to a Wi - Fi (you may have to press Fn + F9, depending on your settings). After pressing this button, a small window with the parameters related to a Wi - Fi should appear in the middle of the screen (as far as I know, this special window appears only with the version of Windows 7 these drivers, so it is necessary to uninstall and reinstall versions of Windows 8 drivers in my case). In this little window, I disabled the plane and WiFi mode on.

    4. after step 3, it seems that nothing has changed, but just after the restart of Ubuntu, the Wi - Fi was on and working.

I think a similar solution might work in your case also, just install Win 7 or 8 Win and try it.

    Best regards.

Not at all surprising that involved C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\SYMEVENT. Pilot of the SYS Symantec event library.  I remove it and use MSE in its place

Symantec is a common cause of BSOD.

I remove and replace it with Microsoft Security if you are using Windows 7 and if you win 8 or higher, use the built-in Defender.

  • ThinkPad T61 random BSOD with VISTA SP1

Hello everyone, I'm new to this Forum.

The reason why I joined the community is because I'm going to random BSOD followed to stop and restart my T61. It started some time earlier this year when I installed Vista updates with the system update utility. It seems Vista Business SP1 related somehow. Well, I could not solve the problem, I did a clean install of Vista Business SP1 with all up-to-date drivers and software from the Lenovo Site. The problem still remains, and I couldn't find a solution.

I installed the Windows Debugger tool und just managed to use the tool and get a report (I am inexperienced). Here are the specifications of my ThinkPad and a snapshot of the debug report.

Any hint is appreciated with the best regards from Switzerland ;-)

    Hello

for a few days now, especially since December 12, as I remember, my computer breaks down very often with a wide variety of errors.

Based on previous posts, I tried to update the drivers including video, Audio, USB etc., not much to do. Sometimes after those updates he initially refuses and BSOD while starting, at other times I can work for a short time before it crashes.

"refuses to start" was caused by me running the Auditor, after an auditor/reset boots correctly to the login screen. I'll leave it there for a little while see if it crashes without even connect.

I ran Memtest86 for a few cycles during the night without error, but the built-in diagnostics from the bios fail the test memory "random pattern" - now, I don't know whether or not the test is faulty.

Displaying devices hidden in safe mode, I noticed that the 'security processor Loader' driver fails to load properly, Error Code 24. When start normally is not the case — is connected this safe mode?

I downloaded the last minidumps on http://1drv.ms/1NBqxtC

Based on the suggestions I ran sfc / scannow without the tool find anything.

It would be great if one of you smart guys could help me, I'm stuck I'm afraid.

    Thank you very much!

It seems to be a HD problem.  I would check this wiki for HD and run a file sytem check

To test a suspect HD you must do 2 things described in this wiki
Please run a check of system files (SFC) & DISM if you're on win 8 or higher

  • Anyone have a Thinkpad Edge E330?

    Hello!

I consider the purchase of the E330 Edge and was hoping for some feedback from the owners today, fair things General as, quality construction, display, fan/temperature noise etc..

    Thanks in advance.

    -K.

I bought the E330 for a friend a few weeks ago. The short summary is:

-hinge quality is better on the E330.
-Quality of construction other than the hinge is the same as the E320
-Display quality is average, not much changed since the E320.
-The noise of the fan is OK, but there are momentarily carried away sound when the fan increases speed without reason.
-In normal use (i.e. surfing the web, watching movies or Office work), the drive noise is stronger then the fan.

However, if you insist on the CPU or GPU, then the noise of the fan would get stronger and more audible.

  • BSOD occurs when the inserted SD card. FASTFAT. SYS crashes.

I have it happens almost everytime if the machine has been used for a while. Insertion of an SD (4 GB format Canon) a BSOD is virtually guaranteed. After a new start it works fine but disastrous otherwise since all the info is lost and nothing is closed.

I watched the dump file and the FASTFAT. SYS is the cause of the accident. It is a very old driver in Windows 7 and there are several problems with it in many forums that goes back even to XP. There is no plant introduced by any other device or USB key/drive connected. Only the SD card.

I thought that this may have be due to the USB controller is off for economy of energy, but even after the removal of capacity by enabling / disabling not to turn it off to save power to USB devices, that it always crashed the very next time I used what was days later. The system was that it is usually plugged.

I can do the same thing on my old laptop with its internal player of multicast running Windows 7 32 bit, and there is no problem. The Thinkpad with Win 7 64 bit. I am always aware of a BSOD occurring dare I plug my camera card. This makes the port useless since I can't afford regular crashes and an external card reader may have to be used.

After considerable effort and reload the drivers. I found the driver for the series 6.x installed version and not the version number that Lenovo States on the package information. By comparing the file SYS of two pilots in effect is the same, including the version number. In the end, I got the last being installed, but it is not what says Lenovo.

Also, since all this time number uninstall anyway, I was able to force it to take. The SD card is no more crash the system. I used it several times since the announcement, then all the time before putting it together. It looks like all that fixes something, somewhere, somehow without rational reason for BSOD crashes.
