ThinkPad Yoga 14 random reboots and keyboard stop

I am a Yoga Thinkpad 14, which was purchased on January 6, 2016, Lenovo. The thinkpad is still under warranty. Lately, I've known random interruptions and blockages of the keyboard. I'm just browsing as usual. It was very well but is not a problem. I get 3-4 stops per day. The battery is under voltage, and it does not matter if the power cord is connected or not. It is not a problem of sleep or the issue of closing lid. It is stopping or blocking, and I don't know when he's going to do. I ran the diagnostics LSC and everything was fine. No error code. I think this could be a hardware problem as no new software or hardware was loaded and it was OK for 6 months so far. Can I submit a service request, but before that, are there any suggestions?

The problem was that it was intermittent. I couldn't replicate the application myself. They had the laptop for a day. They ran a huge list of diagnoses and nothing came. So I think that it is more beneficial for them to replace the card. I can't blame them for not to isolate the problem. I sent the laptop in Tuesday. Get it back on Friday. So if yours is still under warranty, I would go in that direction. However most probably they will return the drive to stock up. I so copy all my data off in advance. Easy enough to do with a drive hard dock

The fool is that it has created a constellation of intermittent problems when I try other options to get these devices to function after the update.  The questions I will of unpowered USB ports, grateful Windows and install the drivers for USB devices, but then do not recognize their (and are not), random BSOD, restore points invalid system, random boot failure, which causes discs to randomly stop working properly, closed randomly , à... I think you get the idea.

I think it must be a driver problem.  I passed through the Device Manager and uninstall all hidden devices.  I have updated the drivers for everything that has an update available.  I tried to disable all, but Microsoft services at startup and in the list of "services".  I've always been unsuccessful; However, when I can get it to successfully restore to a point before the update (none of the automatic restore points work correctly) it seems ok.  It will sometimes seem to work after I applied the update, but then go haywire shortly after.  I am convinced that it is not a hardware problem, given that the prior update restores (when they actually cross without failure) work very well.

I went through countless articles in the knowledge base and tried all the suggestions I've seen, other than registry cleaners because I had a bad experience with this earlier.  I tried so many things that I lost count and the memory of some of them.

I reached point is never install the update (an option that I prefer not to use) or creating a clean Windows install on another drive (an option that I prefer not to use, but I'm a little more friendly to).  I already started to back up files to prepare a clean install, but I reach out one last time before I pull the trigger.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions you have!

  • Mouse and keyboard stop working

I have windows 7 64 bit edition Home premium.  Intel I5 6 GB of Ram chip. Had this system for 3 years and no problem.  Today, when I myself post on someones facebook page all of a sudden my keyboard stopped entered the words I typed. did not work.   The mouse was working. I rebooted and it worked for a few minutes.  Then he stopped again.  I plugged in the keyboard to a different usb port and it started working, but then the mouse has frozen completely.  I put the mouse on a USB of Hung and it works for now.   My anti virus is so far - I even ran the Norton Patrick gum aggressively looking for problems and he came back with no risk not found.   Is there any type of virus which would attack the keyboard and mouse?  Did someone had experience with in the past?  I have not downloaded new software in a year so nothing new has been added unless there is an automatic update of windows.  Just checked and the last updated 2/15, a few weeks ago and today is the first time with the problem.

    Hi Carl,

    1. What is the brand and model of the mouse/keyboard/computer?

    2. do you get an error related to the question message/code?

This problem might be caused by the virus, but this usually occurs due to drivers of bad/corrupt keyboard/mouse/USB host controller.

I suggest you follow the troubleshooting steps for the mouse and keyboard from the Microsoft KB article and check if it solves the problem.

  • Mouse and keyboard stopped working on Windows 8

I have a laptop Sony Vaio model VGN-NS110E 2010 number middle. Since a few days ago my mother used it, and after it was closed and she turned on, the keyboard and the mouse do not work (the mouse wont even see on the desktop). (Yes, I tried to plug in an external mouse and keyboards, the computer won't even save) It seems that the keyboard does not work for a second before loading windows because I can press the NumLock key and the light comes on and goes off. But once windows starts loading, it stops working. The mouse and the keyboard also works if I get the computer start in recovery mode (the blue screen with the options to perform a system recovery, etc.). I can't the computer to boot in safe mode. And I tried to do a reset back a few days or a few weeks, and the mouse and keyboard still do not work. I'm guessing that the drivers are not loading, for some reason any. I guess the logical solution would be to do a factory reset, but my mom has all these bookmarks saved in his internet browser explorer, that she does not want desperately to lose. Anyone has any suggestions on how to fix or at least on the way to save somehow my moms stuff and if a reset?

    Hello Duane,

Thank you for the update on the issue.

If the keyboard and mouse does not work in one of the option, this means there could be a hardware problem is not getting detected so you may have to perform a refresh of your computer, but for this, there are also a working keyboard and a mouse. The best option that I can help you is to contact the manufacturer of your computer (SONY) or technicians who can check it physically and can reach to the root cause.

Keep us updated on the issue.

  • HP 9470 m Wifi and keyboard stop working

I have a laptop HP 9470 m and it keeps a malfunction. Once I connect to my laptop and everything is started, if I move the laptop to quickly or set it to hard, WiFi turns off and the keyboard goes crazy. He began to write "QWERTY" if I'm in Notepad or in a text field, and most of the keyboard becomes inadmissible. I noticed that if I push on the right side of the keyboard the 'Shift', 'Enter' or the 'Arrow' keys, WiFi can turn back in response to each press. I almost feel the network card in the laptop is loose or the jury now all keys gets hit on the spot or something. This is a crucial issue because the laptop has become very sensitive to any form of movement and once it glitches, the laptop is useful and needs rebooted. All tips are appreciated, thanks!

  • Presario V5002ea random reboot and scrambled screen

    Hello

I ahd my Presario V5002ea for about 4 years with no problems at all. I started it this morning and everything was fine until it restarts all of a sudden. When the computer reboots, it seemed fine until the scrambled screen (vertical lines in a blue-gray) and finally the system rebooted again. This seems to be a hardware fault possible for me that it happens randomly.

I can't start in safe mode without reboot or run any form of diagnosis. Any ideas as to what the problem may be and it will be fixable or is it time for a new laptop?

Well, it seems that the video chip on the motherboard has gone bad. If you are handy with a screwdriver, it's too cheap to get a replacement motherboard (maybe $100) but it is not something to try as your first foray in laptop repair. Have a shop do the replacement would cost about $200-300, which approximates the cost of a new phone.  Try an external monitor, but if it's rebooting it is not likely to be just the screen of the control panel and a replacement screen Panel is at roughly the same cost for a replacement motherboard, anyway ($100 for DIY) and about $175-200 for a workshop, parts and labor. Bad memory can also cause the symptoms you describe, then you can also try the new memory or simply remove each module in turn and try each module in each location. 4 years is a pretty good life for a laptop, believe it or not. Newer models are so fast and cool you can't miss anyway.

  • USB mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working

My USB connected Microsoft USB Bluetooth mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working today. After researching everything I could, I didall that I could find as a possible solution that has been:

    • Update of the chipsets
    • Uninstalling usb in Device Manager and reboot devices
    • Updated via Device Manager, usb devices
    • Reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7
    • Stop, unplug and allow the card mother "reset".
    • Try multiple ports
    • There is no 'connect' button on my mouse so I can not sure try this
    • Replace the batteries in my mouse
    • Obviously both devices have been connected
    • Updated the software for the mouse

I have tried literally everything I could think of or read previously and I am out of options. Oddly enough however, after reformatting and reinstalling windows, my USB storage device is found and is working, but the keyboard and mouse are not. Please don't bother not suggest anything I listed above, I obviously already tried and found no chance.

    Update
I have solved my problem. For later use, if anyone has this problem and no other solution seems not work; That's what I did.

I bought a USB 2 ports PCI card and installed in my computer, then go back to Windows XP. While my original front and rear USB ports still recognize a flash drive, they do not recognize the keyboard or USB mouse, make ports PCI card. I had also updated ALL the updates of windows on the site, not the auto update available on the desktop. Although I don't know the cause, I am certain that somewhere, something was is altered by the hardware or software, and my default USB ports do not recognize mouse or keyboards.

Another piece of knowledge in case anyone is interested; I use a card mother gigabyte s-series and my nvidia video card GeForce previously is no longer recognized in the port, it would cause my computer go into a State of hibernation and the monitor would go into "Analog Power Saving Mode". The only solution was to spend a friend with my video card. (Its graphics card is a GeForce 9800 GTX, mine was a GeForce 9800 GT. No reason why it should make a difference.) According to me, even if my computer is less than two years old, I was sold a bad mother. I read online cases in other forums for technical support of people having the same problem. Gigabyte motherboards stop random ports for no known reason.
