• Vista Windows anytime upgrade not working - I get what I paid for this key?

  I bought an upgrade to vista ultimate anytime last week at an online retailer and I learned the reason why it is not working is because microsoft no longer allow updates under vista.  the seller will not accept a return because I opened the disc folder, then is it possible for me to share this key for a windows 7 key is there a scenario 'you are out of luck' and I have to eat what I paid for it and I still have to buy a package of upgrade of windows 7?

  Well, it isn't true.  A true Anytime Upgrade DVD of Windows Vista and the appropriate product key can easily perform an upgrade.  What specific problem are you experiencing?

  My new graphic Alienware amplifier gives the following error message when I press the FN + F1 key: 'graphic Alienware amplifier has never connected. This key is not functional. »

  The GA * is * connected and * is * works very well with a keyboard and an external USB mouse plugged into it.

  Two things to note:

  (1) Alienware alienhead logo on the front of the General Assembly do not normally lights unless the GA is connected * after * the computer starts. It feeds again the mouse and keyboard and the fan still works be it.

  (2) I do * not * have a graphics card plugged into the slot of the AG.

  So I'm wondering if #2 is what causes the error and also do not have the head lights as well? This worries me a bit because it may be up to a month before I get a card to try inside the AG. I bought the new GA here from Dell.

  Any thoughts or help would be very appreciated. I sent support and was told just to call support - so thought I would try the community/forums here first. Thank you.

  It is more likely #2. Reason is that even if you have connected the GA, the computer only detects it as GA without graphics in there. Such, the computer recognizes it only as a connected via PCI - E USB hub.

  I did not FN + F1 when I got my GA (do not have a desktop GPU then), but I remember acting like a variety USB hub. I think that the fan still works (as you noted), but the logo lights because Command Center detects as the GA (sorry if I'm redundant). You can disconnect the internal fan because it is only cooling inside and the PSU, which should be very well without the fan.

• I have a windows xp OEM SOFTWARE license key, but the drive has failed. This key will work on any XP installation disc?

  due to a major problem, I have to completely remove the operating system (under license). can I still use this key to set up windows again? I have a key to the back of my sticker only computer laptop written "SOFTWARE OEM windows xp". Can I use this key with any windows xp cd? or I have to use a specific version? can u give me the link to download the specific version?

  You must use the recovery disks provided by the manufacturer (or the integrated recovery system) - see you manual for more details.

  The major advantage of this is that all the required drivers should be included, so that you can immediately connect to the internet and install all updates.

  Reisntalling using the sysstem of correct recovery also means that you shouldn't need to use the key on your COA stiker - as key to 'master' of the manufactuerer is integrated into the system and should not require activation.

• Satellite A350-20s - cannot get FN keys work

  Recently, I formatted the hard drive and installed Vista Home premium new because it was slow. Before formatting, I had turned off the touchpad to use because I found it very uncomfortable to use. So, instead, I used an optical mouse. Once I installed Vista the touchpad did not work and the fn did not meet the F1, F2 - F9...   I doubt that you have downloaded from the Toshiba site, otherwise your FN keys work correctly! ;)

  In any case, for the FN keys, you need to install Toshiba Value added Package. With this package it is also possible to enable/disable the touchpad. It brings all the FN keys to work.

  As far as I know, you can not solve simple buttons. You can remove the key caps but I put that this problem is related to the plug defective or similar then it seems that you need to replace the keyboard.

• Portege R500 shortcut keys work not

  In order to get the FN keys to work, you must first install the common Module!
  Then follow with Hotkey utilities for display devices, hotkey utilities and wireless

  This should help you get the buttons working again!

• HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC: HP Envy 15 action keys works do not (F9, F10 and F11)

  My laptop has been working fine since purchase, but last week, I noticed that action F10 F10 & F9 keys (jump, play/pause, skip) did not work for their function. • Function keys works in reverse - G62224CA

  The function keys on my keyboard work in the opposite way. Whenever I press the F1 to F12 keys, they perform media actions or their action. For example, if I press the F2 key, the brightness of the screen of my laptop would lower. It shouldn't work like this. I should be by pressing Fn + F2 to my screen brightness to lower. The problem here is that I can't use Alt + F4 to close the windows because its reverse position, I rather push on Alf + Fn + F4.

  I'm already searching for an answer online and I can only find that NumLock is supposed to be locked. But, it's a laptop - I don't have this key. Looking for alternatives if anyone has found a solution.

  You can disable the feature by disabling "Action keys Mode" in the BIOS...

• Key 3 C often does not work for several minutes after the start, the other keys work fine.

  I got am HP Pavilion 17-e049wm Notebook PC product #E0J75UAR for about 4 weeks now.  I bought it refurbished.  A week ago I started having this problem.  3, e, d and c keys do not work when I first start the computer all of the other keys work.  Nothing happens when they are pressed.   Sometimes I will restart the computer and they work again, other times they won't, but often will start working if I left the computer set for about five minutes after the start.

  The computer is spotlessly clean.  I've only used a dozen times or more.  Nothing has been spilled on the keyboard.

  Sounds like software for me, but what?

  I am running Windows 8.1 and no programs are running at startup, with the exception of a program start button, but the problem began weeks after installing that.

  FWIW, I called hp. They believed excluded material and had me do a full system restore. Problem persists... The things you own end up owning you they say... I guess it's doubly true if you own a hp laptop. Full day turned... One day closer to death. Thanks Obama.

• The brightness function keys work in reverse?

  Dell Inspiron B130 with Windows XP Home Edition.   The screen was black... weak image of the desktop... diagnosed as a bad inverter.  Inverter replaced, does not solve it.  Next replacement cable, does not solve it.  However after sleeping with the arrow keys and FN which adjust the brightness, the screen is back to normal.  The strange thing is the FN and the arrow keys worked in reverse... grayed arrow high and arrow made brighter down!  Very strange!

  Display worked all afternoon until what we chose another mode of power supply in power options, then went black again and have not been able to get this back even after trying all plans.

  The bios is up to date, have the latest video drivers, etc..

  This sounds like the corruption of software... the function keys works in reverse?   Reinstall Windows would fix this problem?  Someone on another forum suggested that an update of Windows might have damaged something.  ??

  Hi, I have a typical problem.  My keyboard works fine in the bios and the installation of the operating system... but 'ESC' key works is not with any application after desktop screen comes...

  I just noticed that, in my case, the problem of the esc key is related to Photoshop CS2 (running on Windows 8.1), close the key start works again.
