To get permissions on partition sorted after reinstall (Win7 - > Vista)

Hi, I used to have Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) on my computer, but for many reasons, I decided to reinstall Vista Home Premium (32 bit).

I have 2 partitions: one for Windows and program files (c) and the other for all my personal files (d) nicknamed libraries.

When I reinstalled, I formatted C: but left alone D:. Now, Windows wonder admin permissions just to move files to and from different folders!

I have already set permissions of owner over the entire partition (less the startup folder, as apparently that's where the BootMgr is) "Alucai-PC\Administrators" and "Users (Alucai-PC\Users)" to have full control.

Should Windows always be prompting me for administrator permissions if users have full control?

Should I make users be owner instead?

I have one account user on this computer, and this is an administrator account.

Anyway, I solved it myself by changing the permissions of the property "Alucai (Alucai-PC\Users)" or similar. All I had to do was look a folder on the C: drive (IE my Dropbox folder) to see its permissions, and then set the permissions of the D: drive to the same.

Know what type of network card you have and download the drivers of its supplier.

It doesn't matter what it is always a good idea before re-install/upgrade to log on to the computer support page, download independent drivers from there and put them on a flash drive.

  • Problem with SP1 after reinstall clean Vista

I did a "clean and reinstall" on Vista 32 bit Home Premium machine due to problems of registry after a "System Mechanic" install.  The reinstallation of Vista went well so I started to download and install all updates for the computer.   Everything downloaded and installed fine until I got to SP1 (KB 936330).  Windows Update tells me that the installation was successful, but when I click with the left button on computer then check properties that SP1 does not appear in the description "windows edition".  I installed the update several times and get the same results.  Windows updates always tells me to install the same update (SP1) and when I look through the history it States successfully 4 times.  When I look at control panel-programs-uninstall a program - and discovers a part of the update uninstall, update SP1 is not listed.   I missed something?  Help, please.

  • After reinstall Window Vista 32 bit, I can't move the slider to increase the resolution of the screen, how do I solve this problem

My Dell Inspiron 530 sudenlly crashed, I could not start it. I called for the support of a group that I paid for. Technicians helped me start the PC, but they could not fix the screen resolution: in the display settings window, the cursor is on the left end of the bar, the low position and could not be moved. The technician finally asked me to save the folders files and reinstall Windows Vista. After the relocation, the screen resolution problem persisted. Technicians then reformat the HD, then reinstall Windows Vista again, the result was the same. We cannot change the resolution. Help, please.

  • XPS M1330 can not find network card after reinstalling Windows Vista

    Hi all

I'm passing my computer to a member of his family and wanted to give them a new installation, so I used the disc of Windows Vista (32-bit SP1) shipped with the laptop and reinstalled Vista on the computer. Everything worked fine until I wanted to connect to the internet, then Windows tells that there are no available networks. When I chose "Why doesn't windows find all networks" he stated that "this computer doesn't have a wireless network installed and configured card". I put in the Dell driver and Utilities CD that shipped with the computer and installed the drivers which seemed related to networking or communications, but the problem persists. I guess it's some sort of driver problem (as the computer used wireless before the reformat (a few hours ago) and so the device itself seems to work.)

I would greatly appreciate any help to get this race. :)

    Thank you!

    Hi Chris,

Please share the system model and the operating system installed on your computer?

If you are facing problems with the wireless, you can follow the steps below to check if the drivers are listed as installed in the Device Manager:

    • Press 'Windows' + 'R' key on keyboard.
    • Type "devmgmt.msc" into the box run without quotes.
    • In the Device Manager window, expand network adapters and verify if your wireless card is on the list.

If the wireless driver is not present in the system and is displayed as a network controller in the section other devices with a yellow question mark, you can download the drivers from the link: http://dell.to/QjjZDA -> Enter-> the serial number of your system, select the operating system-> expand the category network to download/install wireless drivers

I hope this helps. Please respond to the findings.
