Toshiba NB520 - question on the validity of the guarantee in other countries

Hello

I'm from Malta.
Last month, I bought a Toshiba NB520 United Kingdom covered under a standard warranty indicating "1 year STD Pickup & return 1 year NB UK and Ireland.
With the netbook, I also bought an 'international extended warranty from 1 to 3 years for Toshiba Mini laptops."

I just want to confirm that this entitles has me repair or service the netbook (if needed) to a retailer of Toshiba to Malta.
At least that's the reason why I bought the extended international warranty for an additional cost.

We hope to get a response.

  • Question on the addition of other adapters

Hi, I have a Linksys one 2.4 G wireless router, I had to reformat my son witch pc was connected with a wireless adapter a Wireless Linksys WUSB54GS, its crises give me, I know that my ssid and key #, any step of ste to this connected, I hace the right drivers etc installed from cd mfg as well. Ty in advance.

PC you son, temporarily disable firewall on your computer, including the Windows Firewall and see if that helps.

With WEP, you must enter WEP "key 1" (found in the router) in your computer, not the WEP password or passphrase.

If you still have problems, follow these steps:

First of all, in the router give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you use "linksys", you can try to connect the router to your neighbor. Also set 'SSID Broadcast' to 'active '. This will help your computer to find and lock on the signal from your router.

In addition, in the computer, go to your wireless software and go to 'Favorite networks' (sometimes called 'Profiles'). There are probably a few listed networks. Remove any network called "linksys". Also remove any network that you don't recognize or that you no longer use. Delete your current network (this will remove all old settings.)  Restart the computer.  Return to "Preferred networks" and re-enter your current info from the network (SSID, encryption (if any) and key (if any)). Select your current network and make your network by default, then set it to auto login. You may need to go to 'settings' to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select 'Properties' or 'settings '.

If the above does not solve your problem, download and install (or reinstall) the latest driver for your wireless card.

  • Oral question to the Lorien or other experts MSFT

Below, I followed Loriens feedback when I get a blue page and recycle just the start. Under safe mode I dsckchk & smf is run at the command prompt, no problem... MRG device - no red flags, etc... AVG antivirus ran scan - no problem.

So, I resorted to reinstalling my Dell Inspiron 531 computer OEM DVD. I noticed during the installation it tells me that I stil would file under old windows with files. It was working fine I saved my photos.

Computer worked fine for a day or two and I reinstalled some software. But tonight, when I restarted the PC after the installation of the updates of windows PC Gets the same blue page with some of the info:

    Stop: nvlddmkm.sys - address 8bbdb240Base at 8baee000, Date stamp 4ba95a19

Try to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed. Clear the options of memory of the Bio for the implementation of cache & concealment.

I restarted and went into setup via F2 mode. I've looked under all possible options to disable bios caching and shadowing and could find nothing to resemble this info.

I will try to restore the PC to before the last problem/windows update to see if it works. Any help much appreciated.

Thanks for the compliment in your title of the thread, but I am not associated with Microsoft (although I have some certifications) and another person here volunteer my free time trying to help others.  There are many with lots more expertise I have - although I am learning.

In my opinion, only a system restore is the first action appropriate to resolve the situation, as you have described.  Make sure that you not download on Windows Update device drivers. In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows:http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/.

Once you're running, you must verify and update your video card driver. Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you should be for at LEAST your video card), get the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  Follow these steps to get the drivers:http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html...

I'm not sure what the hell memory options for caching and shadowing using BIOS (and I don't have your BIOS to check).  Like you, I just need to scroll through ALL the options provided to see if I could find the options.  If you have done this, they are probably not here (despite the message).  It is possible that the pilot expects that these options are available in the BIOS.  You can consult your computer manufacturer to see if they have an updated BIOS available for your specific system (ONLY to get them from the manufacturer and make sure that they are appropriate for your system specifically - even if you need to talk to someone there to confirm).

If you continue to have problems caused by Windows updates, then please post in the Windows Update forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads.  Include the exact version of Windows you are using (32-bit Vista Business SP2 or other) as well as the names of the updates of the problem and their numbers KB.  Also include the problems you encounter when you install these updates in all the information you can provide.  They will help you to get the updates installed correctly - they are the real experts in this (not us).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Question of the application of other machines access

    Hi all.
I installed Peoplesoft 9.1, PT8.52 (Oracle database 11G 64-bit) on windows 2008 server 64-bit and a HRMS DEMO DB on one machine virtual PSDEMOVM.
I also installed Oracle 11 G client 32 and configured a client workstation PS on another machine virtual PSDEMOWS.
I installed the app and web servers and the application is finally running.

I added the IP and the URL address in the Hosts file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ on server and client machines.
Note that no proxy is enabled on both machines.
Now I am able to access the application on the server, but not the same customer if I can ping and the server of this machine tnsping.

Are there additional configuration on the client machine?
    Thank you

your access code is url consists of the url following http://server.domain.com:port/site/signon.html

Can you ping your client server.domain.com?
If you can it ping, so make sure that your port is added as a rule in the firewall of the server.
Also ensure that the client proxy have an exception to server.domain.com.

If you can't ping, make sure that the server and the client are connected to the same network and make sure that the file hosts on the client takes into account the IP address and the host name of the server.

  • Satellite L850-Y3110 - Question about the international warranty

I bought a portable Satellite L850-Y3110 in India that has an international warranty.
There is a problem with it now, it's the cd drive is broken and I took it to an authorized to Newcastle service center.

Need the driver cd to replace, but now Im says that Toshiba usually give the cause of the part I did not but he to the United Kingdom, and the person told me to go back to the place where I bought and the fix here, I won't go there any time soon, so it's out of the option.

My question is what is the point of the international interest if it won't be such an inconvenience.

When I bought a laptop that I wanted one that would guarantee internationally because Im student out of the country for education, that's why I bought this one because it has international warranty and my laptop is still under warranty international.

    What should I do now?

    Hello

I m not very well on portable computers sold in India, but cell phones sold in Europe are covered with at least 1 year standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/services/standard-warranty/

This warranty does not cover repairs in other countries, but in case of hardware malfunction, you must visit the authorized service provider in the country where you made the purchase.

To get the international warranty coverage you must buy an extended international warranty: details here http://www.toshiba.eu/services/warranty-extension/

In the case where the international interest has been registered for your laptop, the ASP to the United Kingdom should be able to repair the laptop in international warranty conditions.

  • Questions from the screen and keyboard on Satellite R830-181

    Hello

    I had exactly the same problem with it;
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=280934

I also explained what is it and how it over time in this topic.

To sum up; my screen and keyboard do not work in my Toshiba Satellite R830-181, 13.3 '' laptop.

    My questions;
    1. is it a motherboard problem?

    2. as it runs on an external monitor, I guess that the graphics card or processor is fine.
There is no damage on the screen, so I guess there is a problem with the connection of the power supply to the screen.

If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.

I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.

What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
Same question applies to the keyboard.

    3. If I repair or fix myself, you think it will happen again? Because I think that this could be a faulty laptop computer of a certain series of production since someone else has experienced the same thing with this model.

can 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?

    5. If this can be resolved with a replacement of the screen, that I need to find a laptop screen Toshiba R830 or I can buy any 13.3-inch screen?

As far as I know this model is not supported by the company more, so it is quite difficult to find a screen R830.
It is difficult to find a 13.3-inch screen, anyway, but still, if I can use the screen of another model which would ease my problems.

I need an idea on that.
    Thanks :)

    > 1 - is it a motherboard problem?
Not easy to say: If the external monitor works correctly then this isn't problem chart/motherboard.
The external USB keyboard works properly, if not motherboard problem too.

    > 2 - because it works on a monitor external I guess graphics card or processor is fine.
    Yes, that's correct.

    > If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.
I do not recommend to buy the new parts before the defective parts has not been verified.

    > I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.
Good idea to send it to Toshiba service partner since the guys would be able to control parts and fix it.

    > What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
    > Same question goes for the keyboard.

Don t think someone can tell exactly what's causing this according to me its just a bad luck material can start malfunction happens in every possible branch of industries (TV, computer, smartphone, cars)

can > 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?
No, the keyboard is only connected to the motherboard, display is also connected to the motherboard, but there is no connection between the keyboard and the display.

  • A few questions about the difference between the Satellite P70, L70, S70

    Hello, I have a lot of questions about the P70, L70, S70 series that come with a 1920 x 1080 panel.

    (1) what are the differences between the L70 and S70 series? With the exception of the RAM and HARD drive capacity, books seem pretty identical.

    (2) P70, L70, S70 doesn't support a 2nd HARD drive or it's just the P70 series that support?

    (3) all the three (P70, L70, S70 series) come with the same TFT panels?

    (4) of the above series, which supports mSata?

    (5) all the model of each series are delivered with support from mSata? For example, it could be that L70 - a - 13 m supports mSata is not the case of the L70-a-146?

    (6) all the foregoing, are delivered with a S - ATA II or III S - ATA interface?

    (7) who is the best of these series listed? I'm trying to understand what makes the big difference of S70 to P70 except for the envelope for example.

    Thank you in advance.

    > (1) what are the differences between the series L70 and S70? With the exception of the RAM and HARD drive capacity, books seem pretty identical.

What models Sat L70 and S70 do you mean exactly? There are different L70-xxx-xxx and S70 models on the market that supports different hardware specifications.

    (> S70 2) P70, L70, support a 2nd drive HARD or is - it just the series P70 that support?
As you can see in this [Sam P70 HDD replacement document, | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/CRU3903II0000R01.htm] the P70 series supports the 2nd drive Bay HARD, BUT even if there is a 2nd HARD drive Bay, this does not mean that you can use the 2nd HARD drive. In the case where the 2nd HARD drive Bay are equipped with HARD drive connector, you can use the 2nd HARD drive

I also found the [Sam L70/S70 HDD replacement | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/CRU3703HG0000R01.htm] the document on the Toshiba page and there I see this 2nd HARD drive Bay is not available

(> 3) all three (P70, L70, S70 series) come with the same TFT panels?
See point 1). Different P70, L70, S70 models were equipped with different material parts.

(> 4) of the series above, which takes in charge mSata?
As far as I know that some P70 models are equipped with an mSATA SSD of 256 GB.

(> 5) do all the model of each series are delivered with support mSata? For example, it could be that L70 - a - 13 m supports mSata is not the case of the L70-a-146?
See point 4) not all models supports the same hardware specifications

(> 6) all of the above, come with a S - ATA II or III S - ATA interface?
I don t think that SATA III is supported. I guess it would be SATA II

(> 7) which is the best of these series listed? I'm trying to understand what makes the big difference of S70 to P70 except for the envelope for example.
Not easy to answer because there are too many models released in Europea.
And not all models are available in each country. So I guess you will have to look for the models that have been released in your country.

  • A few questions after the downgrade of Win 7 on Satellite U940 - 11L

    Hello

friend of mine bought the Toshiba Satellite U940 - 11L which had Windows 8 on it, due to some reasons that she wanted to have Windows 7 installed on it, which was pretty easy.

Trouble came with the installation of the Symantec touchpad, after installing the drivers, it worked for about 10-15 minutes but then it stopped working.

Tried to uninstall and install again but no luck, found a few discussions where it was suggested to remove all the devices, remove the battery and the power cord.

Press the power button for 15 seconds and then power back on but still not lucky (I wasn't in the restoration of the default settings of the Bios I did not any change it outside disabling secure boot and replacing UEFI CSM that was needed to run win 7 on it).

Tried about 4 different sources when it comes to the drivers but still does not work. I checked the Device Manager Dev but see no conflict, and it shows that the unit works fine but the problem persists. Please note that the drivers were specific to windows 7.

Please if you have any suggestions we would greatly appriciate it.

On another note, I'm not able to install the bluetooth it (HW ID shows as ACPI\TOS6205), I tried to install it several times but no luck because it always shows as unknown device in the dev Manager. The driver that I use is Bluetooth Filter Driver Package as info.

Also, the computer is slower than it was with Windows 8, I suspect the reason for this is the fact that the installation of win 7 I accidentally erased part of the hybrid drive SSD (the size was 11.2 GB if I remember correctly, yes silly me...). I wasn't looking for a while on the net to see if there is a way to fix it but no luck so far.

Thank you very much for your time and your suggestions!

    Tony

With regard to the question of the touchpad.
To my knowledge, the touchpad should work even if the Synaptics touchpad driver has not been installed. Windows system contains own driver that control the touchpad and provide standard settings. Of course after installing the Synapatics driver, you should get a few more options and features more touchpad.

I recommend you to download the driver for the touchpad from Synaptics driver page and install it again: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

With regard to the problem of BT.
The laptop supports WLan Intel (Intel Wireless-N 2230) card that supports BT connectivity. Bt driver filter pack is ONLY necessary if you laptop would use an Atheros WLan card or Realtek WLan card. For the Intel WLan modules such package of filter is NOT necessary. To get BT to work, you must install the battery Toshiba BT!

  • A few questions about the upgrade on Satellite A300-144

Sorry for the typos, English is not my mother tongue.
I want to ask some questions about the upgrade of a300-144.

    * Some info first.*

    CPU: T2370 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/34445/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2370-1M-Cache-1_73-GHz-533-MHz-FSB]).
    Chipset: GM965 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller]).

    * Questions.*

    1. my frequency of laptop memory at 533 MHz, supports 667 MHz memory controller, memory modules can work at 667 MHz. Is - this because CPU FSB 533 MHz frequency and new processor at 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or it is hardcoded in the BIOS?

2 Intel said that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?

3 I know, taken of my CPU is μFCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB]) is a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

The speed of the memory is related on the material. This means that the FSB is responsible for the limitation.
If the FSB would allow support 667 MHz then the memory would also at this speed.

    > 2. Intel says that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?
The memory depends on the chipset. So if the chipset supports 4 GB of RAM, you should be capable of this move to 4 GB of RAM

    > 3. I know, my CPU is? FC-PGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 (http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB) will be a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

It might be possible that the new processor would be fully supported by the BIOS, but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new processor.
But as far as I know the upgrade of the CPU is not supported by Toshiba or any other manufacturers of portable and its your own risk to run laptop with the new processor.

  • A few questions about the Satellite Satellite C55 - B

I have a Toshiba Satellite C55 - B, the card network LAN adapter, appear and disappear and the USB port on this side too, the airphone near these ports port also have problem too.
When I use airphone and close and open the screen I can hear a sound and the volume is up and down.

A few days ago, I opened the laptop and check all components inside, and then when I close and restart the network LAN adapter and the USB port is displayed, and now that they disappear.

Please if someone could help me

    > Yesterday I open the laptop and check all components inside
    You disassemble the laptop?
O man this affects and the guarantee of s notebook :(

However, I would also recommend to load the image of Toshiba and to perform the recovery.
I hope that this would solve the annoying problems.

I can't imagine that this could be a hardware problem, but as you probably know: everything is possible.

However, I keep fingers crossed that your questions would not appear after you set the notebook to factory condition.
