  I have an Acer Aspire ES1-711 with 10 windows and when I updated the BIOS to 1.08 the touchpad has become upresponsive after the restart.   BIOS do not affect or touch the registry somehow and there is no need to relocate the BIOS but you can reset the default BIOS. You could link me to these forums you're talking and if not. cases are of a scale that is having the same problem, the update of the BIOS can be studied.

  Since you said that even an external DVD drive is also not recognized its certainly a matter of s/w.  Could try to use a restore point was working on your dvd player? I know that you did a restore to a date before you installed the update to the BIOS, but you can try a diff. one?

  In addition, you can restore your BIOS downgrade (F2-System Diagnostics) If you feel/think the BIOS update is a cause of the problem.

  I posted here yesterday on my computer because I have updated the Bios program with the update of the BIOS of 2007 and after that my internet no longer works.   The advice I've gotten is update Broadcom driver wireless as well as I did yesterday but the same result.    I was told also that if all things go wrong can I downgarde my Bios program that imposible because the older version on my computer model page is actually installed now on my computer.  I have run out of idea already of what else could be done please help.    Sometimes wireless connection to connect to the router but often difficult and if I am connected I can't go to the internet and to connect to the Local network I just get limited connectivity.

  Try:

  Reset the BIOS to its default settings.
  VAP to uninstall and install the latest version from the Toshiba site.

  PS I think you can change the lighting in the BIOS, have you checked this setting?
