touchpad or mouse

The former owner of my laptop Toshiba used a mouse instead of the touchpad. How to switch between the two?

Thanks, I found the answer. FN + F9 toggles the touchpad.

After that I was recently reinstall antivirus, something was wrong here and at some point cursor stopped on the screen without moving. Touchpad or mouse worked. I tried to restart the laptop several times... but the result was the same - keyboard worked, but the touchpad and mouse not. Although I'm not an expert in using only the keyboard I managed to open the control panel-> devices (where I can see the marks of attention in front of pointing device (I guess that its touchpad) and mouse.)

The problem is that the keyboard works I don't know how pointer on them to restart drivers for them or something like that. The problem may seem stupid, but I really beg for help or advice because I am currently overseas and can not bring my laptop to any service.

    Hello

I recommend the touchpad power feature.
You can enable and disable the touchpad by pressing FN + F9

    Does the touchpad?

It would also be possible that your system is confused until so you can try to put the OS up to this early time.

Click on start-> all programs-> Accessories-> system-> system restore tools

Then you should be able to restore the operating system

  • Satellite A300-1NO: Synaptics touchpad vs mouse Genius

    Hey again guys!

When I put in place a new operating system sometimes (vista, 7) I have always installed the Synaptics pointing device. And then, my Genius Ergo 725 Laser mouse driver has been installed.
After these steps, that I turned on the "Disable pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached internal" Synaptics, so when I used my mouse touch pad does not work, and when I unplugged my mouse I use the touchpad. It of normal I know.
It worked fine for a few weeks that I have connected and disconnected.

    BUT now
When I disconnect my mouse, I can't use my touchpad, it just doesn't work, and if I log in again my mouse, my mouse is not working too. So I can't use my mouse & touchpad, just navigate with the keyboard. I tried to uninstall & reinstall Synaptics and drivers of genius, but nothing.

Also, when this happens, I just restarted my computer but when it is "shutting down" it freezes and won't restart or shut down. So I have to press the button for a few seconds.
If I don't unplug my mouse for my OS race, or do not connect my mouse while the operating system is running, I can close and restart the computer normally.
Now I have Windows 7 x 86, but it happened with my Vista x 86 too...

Strange problems, but I hope you can help!
    Thanks in advance.

It is the first time I encounter this problem
I think it is s a question OS that maybe something was confusing the updates, who knows

I think first of all you should try to remove the touchpad drivers and the system software and need to clean the registry. I clean my registry using the CCleaner. It the free tool.

After having been cleaned registry, reinstall the necessary drivers touchpad and check if you can operate the touch pad.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are in a really difficult situation that's going to be almost impossible to fix.

First, there are the ways, if you have the Windows installation media, to repair missing system files - but you probably don't have that, and even if you did, your optical drive would have to work in order to be able to read the media.

Second, you may want to restore your PC to its original state using HP recovery media, but there are two problems with this: (1) HP stores not more to your PC and your optical drive would need to work in order to use it (2) is a set of a DVD and a CD.

To restore your PC to the operating status, you'll need to be able to start using Windows disc media.  One way that COULD work is if you use an external DVD/CD drive plugged into a port USB - but for this to work, your PC must be bootable (1) and (2) be able to boot from USB.  IF these two are not true, then you can not restore it - the way it is.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps when your PC won't start - you can try them and see if everything works: computer won't start (Windows 7, Vista, XP) | HP® customer support

Maybe something in this package of measures will work.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • Aspire M5 - 851t: touchpad and mouse does not.

OS = Windows 7 Home.  I have MS Office 2010 on my Aspire.  But, I need to install Office 2007 / Access 2007 to test compatibility.  But, once I installed Office 2007 USB mouse and touchpad has stopped working.  I tried a system restore, but the recovery failed for some reason any.

I uninstalled all MS Office products, but I still have the same problem.

I installed the latest dirvers of mouse and touchpad Acer, but not joy.  It is interesting to note that I can remote access to the Aspire and the remote mouse and touchpad work very well.

I also tried a repair of Windows 7, but it does not have the normal repair process.  It ask if I want to repair, and then it opens a raw DOS application that will only make a restore or a difficulty of startup.

I checked the Windows logs and alert and didn't see that everything about this issue.

Thank you.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm sorry.  User error.  I didn't know that the Fn - F7 would be to turn the touchpad on or off.  And it seems that I have a defective USB mouse.  Activating/Deactivating the F7 and permutation of mouse seem to have solved the problem.

Consider this closed announcement.  Best regards.

  • Disable the touchpad with mouse connected in Windows 7

I have a Dell Inspiron 1420.  Recently walking from Vista to Windows 7.  In Vista, I had the Mouse/touchpad settings set to disable the touchpad when a USB mouse is connected.  Cannot find the menu/right screen now put back in Windows 7.  Cannot not even find any indication of a touchpad or software for this anywhere in the menus of the program or the material.  Don't want to permanently disable the touchpad, just at the moment where a mouse is connected. Looking for step by step instructions, please!

Contact Dell and ask where you can get Windows 7 software support for the touchpad that is adapted to your laptop. Dell tells you, it is possible that software exist on the Synaptics or Alps support pages, but you need to know who of the touchpad is equipped... • How to configure the touchpad and mouse UBD separately?

In Windows 7 on ASUS U36S, I could configure my mouse connected USB and press the setting separately. I must configure the USB mouse to the left hand and Touch pad for the right hand.

But now on Windows 8.1 on ASUS UX303L, there are no separate options. The only option available is the primary and secondary buttons switch that applies to the two connected USB mouse and touch pad.

Is there a way I can set up separately? I have to do because of the RSI in my wrist.

Original title: configuration of the touchpad

    Hello

Welcome and thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I'm sorry for your inconvenience.

Described above, I understand that you need to configure both keyboard and mouse USB separately as you need it.

Please let us know what type of touch driver is installed. Is this Synaptic or precision Touchpad?

I suggest you to install the latest drivers for the touchpad from the manufacturer's Web site and check if the settings are available. Also, look for the Windows updates and install them.

  • Satellite C50D-B-120 - touchpad and mouse issues

I bought a Satellite C50D-B-120 on 12 April 2015 nine and I'm having problems with the mouse on the laptop and using a connected via USB.

The mouse is very slow to react, vibrations and wander all on its own. I have reset the control of the mouse to fast speed, but it makes no difference at all.
Playing games is very slow and designates some games, which is timed, I can't play at all.

Typing this was OK and the mouse does what I want to do, but whatever it is online is a nightmare.

Help! or tell me, if I bought a piece of crap!

I'm having the same problem. Is there a way to sort I wonder except take it back to the place that he provided!

  • Touchpad cursor (mouse) returns to the upper right when lift finger off of it so can't navigate anywhere on the screen (left)

My touchpad / slider did something weird, then attaches after put the laptop to sleep and wake it (no reset). I write the problem here in case someone has it and where it appears again.

No reason apparent (no reboot, working on more than an hour), my cursor has begun returning several times up to the upper right of the screen whenever I lifted my finger on the touchpad (no touch screen). I write this, my cursor is now sitting quietly in the middle of the screen, apparently not abreast of his prior preferred to move to the upper right corner in the recent past. My solution to workaround (after a good 15 minutes of frustration and cursing) should always keep at least one finger on the touchpad. I put a finger where I had to be to move the cursor from its current location (to where I wanted to go) and the other on the touchpad for the cursor wouldn't move suddenly to the upper right corner again.

Another that put the laptop to sleep and he wake up, I have nothing to solve this problem, but it seems to be OK for the moment. I think that there is a hidden software glitch somewhere.

    greetings to the community. .

I had exactly the same problem and tried to put my computer to sleep for 20-30 seconds, and it worked. THANKS for this posting!

  • The functions of horizontal and vertical touchpad scrolling mouse stop working after the passage of the users.

In addition, I note that demand, ApntEx.exe... too bad.  I had to put an end to this process and run it again.  Maybe this will help someone else.

Now it's working.  I had to go to (ctrl + shift + ESC) Task Manager and end the process, ApntEx.exe.  Then I went to File-> new task (run...) and type "ApntEx.exe" in the box and press ENTER.

  • Qosmio X 70: TouchPad stopped working after using a mouse

    I have a brand new Qosmio X 70 for about a week.
In the early days I used it without any accessories and the TouchPad worked well. I got the mouse settings in the control panel and was able to activate a few gestures more which is the default value. I also checked the option saying something like "disable touchpad when mouse is plugged in.
The next day, I was sitting at my desk and plugged a mouse into one of the USB ports.

As expected the 'disabled' on the touchpad indicator was lit. Maybe it's that this indicator has disappeared after a while, but I didn't notice then. However, the next day, I tried to use the laptop without the mouse but then I discovered that the mouse cursor was no longer visible and the TouchPad was totally insensitive. The indicator was black.

I also noticed after plugin a mouse back in the PC, control panel of the mouse in the control Panle does not display the tab 'Device settings' more... It's like the TouchPad no longer exists. Curiously, the key "Function" to toggle the TouchPad is pretending it's something when you press but has actually no effect.

How can I get my rear TouchPad?

Happy to know that everything is OK again.
    Thanks for the comments.
