I tried to empty the trash with several GB of files.  It seems to be stuck.  How can I fix?

  • A few items are stuck in my trash

Some items will not remove my trash. When this has happened (several times in the 4 years that I've owned this computer) simply by restarting the computer solved the problem; It then deletes. Not this time. It happened about 2 weeks ago.

I had just joined a new DHM and transferred all the files of former JEP to the new in batches, removing the stuff I want more along the way. Stuck in the trash are items that have been on the old disk (which is always connected and used by my family).

Whenever I emptied the trash for the past 2 weeks, I get this error message:

Many other things that I deleted these 2 weeks have removed, but these elements just standing here. They are not locked. Of course they are not in use regardless of what the error message says.  First of all, I google the day it happened and tried something in the DOS prompt suggested in this article (I don't remember what) and that has not worked.

Now I get a different error message when I try to empty the trash too:

Can someone tell me how to get rid of these unwanted items in my trash? It is kind of silly, maybe I could not ignore them, but I've also dealt with General slowness with my computer this month (see my last thread, posted a few minutes ago) and wonder if this could be a part.

    Thank you!

Try to restart the computer, and then delete the files or empty the trash. Or you can visit visit The FAQ XLab and read the FAQ on the resolution of the Trash of related issues.

Visit The FAQ XLab and read the FAQ on the waste problems. You can also try using Trash it! 5.1 to solve the problem. Or you can try this:

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder, and paste the following at the command prompt:

    sudo rm - Rf ~ /. Trash

Press RETURN. Enter your administrator password when prompted. It will not echo to screen. Press RETURN again.

(Someone should tell you that it is dangerous or useless, please disregard the comment.)

    Hello

Have you tried to force the reboot? If this isn't the case, please try this:

Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Then try to delete the message again if it has not already crossed with the reboot force.

    I hope this helps.

I bought the C open on eBay UK. I can see the list of my emails on the device, but when I click on the email address it gets stuck refreshing and I see no content of mail.

I reset the phone and also to run an update of the software via the relevant application on the device.

Please can help you? Thank you.

I had a similar problem with the ZTE open running v1.1. I was not using Gmail, but my own IMAP provider. It turned out that my desktop e-mail client (Thunderbird for Mac OSX) created a strange trash where it shouldn't have been. Once I deleted this file, the phone worked again.

You use a desktop e-mail client? Make sure you check the settings IMAP, especially how map you your trash folder on the desktop. Make sure that you store your messages deleted on the server.

This is what solved the problem for me, and I stopped using Thunderbird.

  • Captain El installation stuck

installed at El Captain on my iMac. After reboot, I have a white screen. I read online to restart. This did not help. Help!

Please take each of these steps that you have not already tried it. Some of them are not applicable to your model or your situation. Stop when the problem is resolved.

To restart a computer is not responding, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the unit turns off, then release, wait a few seconds and press again briefly.

    Step 1

The first step to respond to a startup failure is to secure data. If you want to keep the contents of the boot drive and you have not already at least a current backup, you should try to back up now, before we do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care the data changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.

There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to store backup data.

    a. starting the partition recovery or an hour Local Machine backup volume (button option key at startup). When the OS X Utilities appears, launch disk utility and follow the instructions in this support articleto the title of the "Instructions for the backup on an external hard drive via disk utility". The article refers to the start of a DVD, but the recovery mode procedure is the same. You don't need a DVD if you use OS X 10.7 or higher.

    (b) If step 1 fails due to disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to save some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external hard drive with OS X installed, the start of it. Otherwise, if you have access to the Internet, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external hard drive and install OS X on it. You will use the installation program of recovery, rather than download it from the App Store.

    c. If you have access to a Mac, and it work and have both the non-working Mac FireWire ports or stroke, start the Mac non-working in target disk mode. Work Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique will not work with USB, Ethernet, Wi - Fi or Bluetooth.

    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is replaceable by the user, remove it and climb into a docking station that is pregnant or an external drive. Use another Mac to copy the data.

    Step 2

If you have booted from an external drive, make sure that the internal boot volume is selected in the pane of the system preferences Startup disk.

Start in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. If you do not see the words "Safe Boot" in the start screen, you did not start in safe mode. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, and some things don't work at all, including the networks without wire on some Macs.

The login screen is displayed even if you normally connect automatically. You must know the password for the connection to connect. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

If the startup progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or the system stops automatically when the progress bar appears, the boot volume is corrupted and the player is probably defective. In this case, go to step 9. If you have another problem with the player, replace it immediately.

If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the trash and then open the window of info on the boot volume ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.) Make sure you have at least 9 GB of space available, as shown in the window. If you do not, copy as many files as necessary on another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion is not complete until you empty the trash again. This, until the space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

If the boot process hangs again, the problem is probably caused by third-party software you have installed. Ask for additional instructions.

    Step 3

If the startup process stops at a gray screen together with a mobile cursor, then the logon dialog box may be active but not visible because of a bug. You may be able to connect by using the arrow keys or the cursor to select the password field and type your password as usual.

    Step 4

Case of failure of step 3, the boot volume can be complete. If you saw previously implemented guard space drive is low, it is certainly the case. You might be able to start in safe mode , even if you cannot boot normally. Otherwise, boot from an external hard drive, or well technology for step 1b, 1 c or 1 d allows to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to the documentation from Apple, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the boot (as shown in the Infolog) for normal operation volume.

    Step 5

If a Mac desktop (without the built-in keyboard) crashes on a gray screen together with a mobile cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Hold down the button on the side of a wireless Apple keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you use a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.

    Step 6

Sometimes, a startup failure can be solved by resetting the NVRAM.

    Step 7

If there is an integrated optical drive, a disk may be stuck in there. Follow these instructions to remove it.

    Step 8

Press and hold the power button until the unit turns off. Disconnect all devices wired except those needed to start and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use another keyboard and/or mouse, if these devices are wired. If you can start now, one of the devices that you disconnected, or a combination of both, the origin of the problem. Discover that it is a process of elimination.

    Step 9

Launch the utility disk in recovery mode (see step 1). Select the boot volume, and then run the repair disk. If problems are found, repeat until that clear. If disk utility reports that the volume is not repairable, the drive is defective and must be replaced. You can choose to tolerate such malfunction in the reader's life. In this case, delete the volume and restore it from a backup. If the same thing happens again, replace the drive immediately.

It is one of the rare situations where you must also run repair permissions, ignoring the erroneous warnings, that it can produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.

    Step 10

If the boot device is an aftermarket SSD, it may have an update and/or a forced "garbage collection". Instructions how to do this with a Crucial SSD of brand have been posted here. Some of these instructions may apply to other brands of SSDS, but you should check with the technical support of the provider.

    Step 11

Reinstall the OS. If the Mac has upgraded an earlier version of Mac OS X, you need the Apple ID and password used to upgrade.

    Step 12

Do as in step 11, but this time clear the disk utility boot volume before installing. The system should restart automatically in the installation wizard. Follow the prompts to transfer data from one Time Machine or another backup.

    Step 13

This step applies only to models that have a battery logic-board ("PRAM"): all of the Mac Pro, MacBook with a removable main battery and a few others (models not updated). A flat battery logic-board may cause a boot failure. In general the failure will be preceded by the loss of the system and boot disk clock settings. Refer to the user manual for replacement instructions. You may need to take the machine to a provider of services to have to replace the battery.

    Step 14

If you get this far, you probably deal a hardware failure. An appointment of 'Genius' to an Apple Store, or select another authorized service provider.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

While Microsoft says there is no risk in the upgrade of Win10, because they allow you to believe that you can always return to your BONES and the original installation program within 30 days, the ugly fact of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack feature turned out to be unreliable - and when she fails, she can let machines in a State corrupted - that does not always happen , but it happens often enough to be a problem and you will get no warning beforehand that he goes to the trash your PC!

If this is not enough, the Win10 upgrade is known, in some cases, corrupt partition recovery stored by the OEM that built the original machine. It's pretty much guarantee that no HP recovery will work.

What will work restores your computer to its original factory state using HP recovery media.

It is a set of DVD and a CD or a USB key, which will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entry and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

  • Stuck on Start Up Apple screen logo with 50% progress bar, tried everything. Help, please!

Hello world. I'd appreciate it really all the advice that you can offer me to help me fix my laptop. I have a mid-2010 Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo Macbook running OS X Yosemite. A year ago, he started trolling a lot, so replaced the HDD with a Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB SSD internal 2.5 inch SATA III. He works much better since.

A few days ago, I bought a Google Chromecast and had set up with my MBP. Subsequently, he began trolling and I noticed there are apps in the Launchpad, that I had never downloaded (reader of Google, Gmail, Youtube, etc.). I could not remove these applications or drag them to the trash. Concerned, I decided to back up my files on a USB key and re - install the OS X.

However, during the priming of the MBP, it is stuck on the Apple logo screen, with the bar never go beyond 50%. (Photo: http://postimg.org/image/66qh6x633/)

    What I tried:

    PHASE 1 (Before reformatting)

-Safe Mode: Button power button and shift held down. Hit or miss, worked 1-2 times, but when I reboot, is again stuck at the Apple logo.

-Reinstall OS X: CMD + R; After 15-20 minutes get to OS X utility screen; Reinstalled OS X Yosemite; 7 hours to reinstall - but when the mbp restarts to complete the installation, it is stuck at the Apple logo again.

-Reformatting: CMD + R; 15-20 minutes get to OS X utility screen (several reboots to work); Select repair for all discs/drives (Samsung SSD, HD Recovery). Exit said that both are very good; Select clear to HD recovery. When this was done, I tried to reinstall OS X Yosemite, but the MBP shuts down suddenly. When I turned on it again, it is returned to be stuck on the loading screen Apple logo. Attempt to restart after 15 +, but same result every time.

    PHASE 2 (After reformatting).

-Power-> CMD + R = blocked screen Apple logo with 50% progress bar

-Power-> Option = shows 2 player and free Wi - Fi area (Pic: http://postimg.org/image/58qi2j1vl/); Have you tried all the combinations, but regardless, always gets stuck at the screen of the Apple logo to 50% complete, after an hour, I suddenly hear ' to use English as the main language... ". ", but the screen is still stuck. I left it on 36 hours once and nothing has changed

-Power-> Shift = error (Pic: http://postimg.org/image/tahklsvy1/); Keep restarting or shows some other error (Pic: http://postimg.org/image/thstc6b59/) and restart. Never crosses.

    Tried other things:

-Reset PRAM: When restarting MBP, is stuck at the Apple logo screen, 50% progress bar

-Reset SMC: Stuck on the Apple logo screen for a long time and then the screen turns off, but the laptop is still on. When I press Caps Lock, the indicator light lights up. Also, after some time, I again hear "to use English as...". "even if the screen is off. No matter what I press, it does not wake up to the screen.

    Note:

-The bottom of the laptop feels hot (maybe), but I do not hear the drive in motion.

I am trying to save my mbp because I can't get a new one for a few months. Any advice/help is greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!!!

P.S.: I only am not too computer savvy, please use everyday words words/non-tech, when possible, thank you!

Remove the SSD and install it in a closed Chamber.  Connect it to the MBP via USB.  It will start?

    Ciao.

    The SecretLight

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post you need to grab your laptop and wanted to help - but we need more information.

You said that your laptop came originally with Win10, but then later, you said you tried to go back to Win8.1, you can then said, it's the original OS.

    Hello

That the issuer does not occur in safe mode with networking, there might be a problem with the graphics drivers. You can follow the procedure.

    Step 1:

You can try to uninstall and reinstall the driver installed on your computer graphics card. Follow the steps.

    (a) click Start and type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER.

    (b) find graphics cards and expand it.

    (c) make a right click on the adapter and select uninstall.

  • HP2710 print jobs stuck in the queue even if test page prints

I have a HP Photosmart 2710 all-in-one printer attached via the USB port of a laptop ASUS G73Jw running under Windows 7 64-bit. The printer worked fine with a Toshiba laptop running Windows XP 32-bit only. But now cling all the documents in the queue if thay are Word, pdf or Notepad. I tried everything I could find on the HP forums. I downloaded the last software update. I ran the diagnostics HPPDU utility. After that I ran this utility test page prints fine, but nothing else gets stuck in the queue. I obeyed different instructions to disconnect and reconnect the printer, do a reboot etc after running the diagnostic utility. I tried other 'solutions' various users have suggested, including disabling bidirectional printing, restarting the spooler service and directly without the print spooler. Nothing works.

Given that I can print a test page I doubt that it is a mechanical problem. I suspect some sort of driver incompatibility. Because I downloaded the driver more once in frustration I think there could be pieces of drivers still present, although I can't view them with the uninstall command or the Device Manager. In fact, I can't find any file with any HP device software. Maybe it's because the driver is downloaded directly from Windows 7 when you do a Plug-and-Play.

There are a large number of driver files under everything in the printer properties. But I don't know which driver files should be there.

I'm about to trash this printer unless someone has an idea what to do.

    Help!

It could cause a conflict if the printer is stuck which occupies the port because it could block all communication with anything that is not this printer.  It may be something wrong with the way that ASUS manages virtual USB drivers, but I have not heard anything.  You might try to give them a call if you're really curious, just to see if they know anything.

  • Stuck trying to install vista OEM on HP Pavilion with motherboard replaced

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion with Vista pre-installed OEM. The machine is out of warranty HP and it was purchased while I lived in the United States. I am now back home in the United Kingdom. In any case, the motherboard is dead (common fault on the model of machine, I got) so I replaced and got Vista working again by using the product key that is stuck to the case. Vista then I messed up with a virus and so I trashed it and tried to re - install using the rescue partition and backup discs that I created. None of these options do know as changed the motherboard. I now put Linux on the machine and most of the time, Miss me not Vista. However, my son has an Ipod Touch who needs ITunes and used to run Linux. Yes, there was one I can get vista's new media and reinstall vista, and then turn on again? Really, I can't justify buying a new copy of Windows, so I have a valid license and that you need to run ITunes.

It makes me feel a little cranky. HP are without help, beyond their warranty period.

    See you soon.
