trouble opening my imovie external archives

I have Mac OS X 10.9.5 and Imovie version 10.0.4. I have an Imovie library stored on an external hard drive. Now when I click on "open library" and select the external drive, I get the following message:

"The operation could not be completed. One or more projects or events have been created with a newer version of iMovie. These projects and events will be ignored. »

After a quick search, I found this information Update projects and events of previous versions of iMovie in iMovie (2014) - Apple supported.

But I'm not sure what they mean by this phrase: check that iMovie and records events iMovie projects are stored on the upper level of the reader. I checked the Imovie library is placed at the top level of the drive but I can't open it and I can not access or place one deposited it named events Imovie or Imovie projects on the disk.

Apart from that detail I followed the advice of the Apple support and tried to go to file-> "update of projects and events", but I only get the message that "iMovie cannot find events or projects to put up-to-date."

I have to update to Imovie?

What went wrong here?

I took the drive to a friend earlier that he needed to access some files in the Imovie library, he managed to get them without any problem. If its Imovie changed the parameters of the library?

Can someone give me please a hint of what to do now? I need my precious film archives!

Your friend must have opened the library with a later version of iMovie 10 that you have on your Mac and let updating the library that make it incompatible with your version.  If you update iMovie on your machine the last version (10.1.2) must read the OK library.

Running Win 7/64 with 2 monitors.  Program opens in the external monitor, not primary.  Have you tried a primary mobile window, exit ap, then re-opening: no solution.

    Hello

    ·          The same thing happens with other programs?

    Try this:

    a. open a PDF file. Now, UN-maximize the file. Hover over to the other monitor. Now, close the document WITHOUT maximizing it on the new monitor.

    b. now try to open a PDF file. It should open on the new monitor. Blow it up and close it again. Now, a new PDF opens on the new monitor, and it will be maximized when opened.

    c. therefore, apparently, the trick is to close when it is not expanded on any monitor you want to open on. Adobe will remember whether or not a document has been expanded and open PDF one another in the same way, but it will update the monitor to use when a document is closed so that not maximized.

Drag the Aperture library on an external drive, and double click it to open it in Aperture.

Just make sure that the disc external hard has a file system compatible - Mac OS extended (journaled) and use a drive mounted locally, not a NAS:

See the Apple help document: using Mac OS X extended, for your Aperture library locally mounted volumes

    Hi FAH300,

If you are not able to format the drive, there may be a hardware problem.

I suggest formatting the disk using the instructions linked by wb2001.

you need to download two files, 1, 2 AND 2 of 2.  put them both in the same directory and double-click on the exe file.

  • My mpg files won't open in imovie, they are grayed out

Mpg files imported can be found on my Mac, but do not place in imovie... they are greyed out

You need to convert them to .mp4.  There are many third-party paid apps announced to do this, but you can use the free Handbrake app at: https://handbrake.fr/

that is a very powerful tool that can do a lot of video conversions.

  • I can't open my USB external hard drive

When I plug my hard drive usb, it appears in 'My devices and printers' but I can't find anywhere else. I ran FixIt and convenience store and am really without a clue about where to go from here. Can someone give me an idea as to what to do next please?

    Hello

In addition to the questions below, some additional questions for you to answer first: represents the already formatted drive? Are there files it contains? Windows 7 does not show empty drives unless you tell her.

There are a few possibilities. I would do these things in order:

    (1) go to control panel and open the Device Manager and select portable devices. It shows? And is there a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside. It shows? Can solve you the problem (s) its reports? When you are finished, make a right click on it and then left click, look for changes on the hardware. What is the result of this?

    2) go to easeus.com (even if the HARD disk does not appear in the Device Manager) and download and install EaseUS Partition Wizard Home Edition application. Run the application, the HARD drive is displayed there? It shows its status?

    (3) come back here and post your answers and I'll try to help.

    Kind regards

  • Ofline slow to open in an external internet connection files

    Hello

I use the redirect folders and files to provide access to office files offline / backup to our laptop users. When one of our users is located on the road but connected to the internet (without VPN) say in a cybercafé or other free Wifi Terminal. It seems to be a problem at the opening of the office files. The file will be essentially wait 3-4 minutes then something seems to expire and the file opens.
My guess is windows trying to work online and trying to contact the server for a few minutes because of the network connection, which he cannot do as there is no vpn to the office network. The connection times out, and then uses the local cache version.
is there something we can do about it?
    Thank you
