  • Impossible to burn CDs of data using Windows

I can't burn a CD of data using Windows, even if I did in the past. I am still able to burn CDs of music via iTunes and the reader has no problem playing discs; However, when I try to view folder to a blank disc or attempt to add files, the computer does not respond. It shows the circle of rotation for a while and then does nothing. I tried updating the driver, but that did nothing.

Since I am still able to burn a music CD in iTunes, I guess it must be a software problem rather than a problem with the hardware of the player.

My laptop is a gateway, model MT6919 and I am running Vista Home Premium

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Hi new,

    1. you receive an error message?
    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    Method 1

Uninstall any third-party DVD burning software installed on the computer and try to burn CDs.

    Method 2

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer are in conflict with the burning process.
I suggest that you try to clean boot and check if it works.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    1. click on Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue.
    3. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
    4. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

    I hope this helps!

This problem may be due to database corruption. You can delete the Windows Media Player database and check if the problem persists.

    a. exit Windows Media Player.
    b. Click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click OK.

Note you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Satellite A20-S103: can't burn CDs

    I use satellite A20-S103.
my laptop won't burn CD more!
This laptop uses a combo CDRw-DVD-ROM
It reads, but he's not burn CDs?
I looked in the tools and utilities cdrom. I saw a driver called DVDRAM. also I searched toshiba.com drivers latest. She also wrote driver DVDRAM here.

    What is the true driver?
What can I do to fix this?

    Hello

As far as I know, DVD player is automatically recognized by the operating system and you n t need to install any driver. Driver DVD-RAM is something else and it is not only the driver but the little tool too and must be installed if the unit has DVD - RAM drive.

If you can't burn CD the only thing you can do is to do some tests.
Try to remove the drive from Device Manager, and then restart the device. The reader will be recognized and installed automatically
Check if you have any success with the media from different manufacturers
    Try to clean the lens

If this does not help, I guess that your drive should be replaced.

    Good luck!

  • Error message when you try to burn a cd of Media Player 11.

I had a computer crash, last winter and had to have the hard drive on my computer wiped and rebuilt.  I have w/service pack 3 for Windows xp.  My media player has been updated to 11.  I restored my music from my backup disks and imported into my windows media player 11 library. .  I tried to burn a cd of songs in my library, 11.  All the songs have been downloaded from Cd, I have owned or purchased from a line originally store.  I was the first to send a message to digital media rights, then I got a message that they could not determine the length of the song and suggested playing them, then transfer to a burn list.  I did this and still get the message on the length and the DRM rights.  I had no problem with it before the crash, I was able to burn CDs with ease.  When I'm viewing my library all the listed music has song lengths, so this message confuses me.   What can be done to fix this?

Make sure that you logged in as an administrator and use Internet Explorer to go to http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/nl/indivit.asp for the upgrade of security.

If this does not work either, create a new user account in Control Panel, log on to this account and try to perform the security upgrade it.
