TS140: How to replace 3.5 "boot with a 2.5 SSD disk"?

I'm waiting on delivery of a TS140 I ordered with the base 500 GB 7200 rpm HDD. My plan is to install Windows Server 2012 R2 (ordered with server), and then clone the drive to a Samsung 845DC EVO SSD. I'll keep the HARD original as a spare disk. The Lenovo SSD prices were simply too high.

Reading this forum, it seems that I have a problem with an adapter 2.5 "for the SSD? I didn't go far enough, I guess. Enjoyed of all wisdom.

I ordered a 2.5 "general 2.5" SSD to 3.5 "SATA HDD hard drive from Amazon caddy who fit perfectly!

General 2.5 "SSD to 3.5" SATA HDD caddy

It came with the screws that hold the new SSD and the caddy with the blue plastic carrier who slips into the Bay 3.5 ". This caddy correctly aligns the connectors off the coast on the left side, supports up to SATA 6GBs and is even hot.

Short answer: you can't do that. Maybe if you have two hard disks (I tried didn't) but as much as I know your SP L40 has only one.
Ask this smart guy, how to do this. Maybe it's a useful tip.

  • How to create a dual boot with Vista installed on my Satellite U400?

    Hello

I just bought a U400 - 17 H with vista installed on the HARD drive. I would like to create a dual boot with XP Pro.

I have only a drive HARD aleady with 2 partitions (1 for vista) + 1 for data.
I want to cut the partition vista in two 2 pieces to install XP Pro.
At the end I'll have 3 partitions 1 vista (65 MB), 1 xp (65 MB) and 1 data (125 MB).

Is it easily to create a new partition ok (I guess only on vista)
but is there a program dedicated to install another OS and create a dual boot.

Please help me because I like many things the other way around. I'm sure it's possible, but what are the right process to have at the end of two BONES and the choice at the start of the laptop

    Thank you
    Gerard

    Hello!

Create a new partition for Windows XP and install it. There is no problem.

After that, you need to restore the Windows Vista boot loader. You can do this with EasyBCD. Install and start the program.
Go to the tab "Add/Remove entries". You will see that there is only one option available in the bootloader of Vista at the moment. In the "Add an entry" section, replace the drive in the menu drop-down of C:\ E:\. Change Type "Windows NT / 2 k/XP / 2 k 3" and the name of "Microsoft Windows XP". Then click on 'Add an entry' and 'save '.
Then go to the "Manage Bootloader" tab make sure "Reinstall the Vista Bootloader" is selected, then click on "write the MBR.

Now you can restart the laptop and you should have a full system dual boot to work.

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite A50 - how can I change the boot with BIOS password priority?

I have a Satellite A50. I need to restore to factory default to recover DVD, how do I boot from the DVD?

The default boot priority is the HARD drive and is more bootable has been formatted. My BIOS is password protected, how can I change the boot priority? After having inserted the password, its always boot from the HARD drive.

    Thank you

The boot priority, that you can change in the BIOS.
Go into the BIOS with ESC, enter your password and then you can change it.
But don t forget to save the changes.

That s all and then you can boot from the CD.

It looks like you want the Mask.vi to 'create '. If this isn't the case, you can provide a code that indicates what type of situation, you do business with.

    > 1. How to create a DVD repair or start for windows 8.1 pro with UEFI Bios and boot secured.
To be able to boot from sources other than the drive HARD internal, the boot mode must be set to the CSM and secure boot must be disabled!

    > 2. I created a USB recovery using the control panel in Windows Pro 8.1. It starts OK. It will be the same as that I've created using the Toshiba Media recovery creator or will it drivers Windows Pro 8.1?

Your laptop has been preloaded with Win 8. Right? For example, the USB flash stick memory you just use the Toshiba Recovery media creator contains the Image of Toshiba with Windows 8. Don t mix this Toshiba image with the image that can be created using Microsoft's own backup and restore function. Both are different pictures!

    > 3. Check it with disk management, then 3 (450MO, 350 MB and GB 10.90) recovery partitions, 1 EFI system partition and 2 partitions primary (C: programs) and D: for data. I created the recovery DVD and USB 2 disks. Can I remove the 3 recovery partitions?

The last partition contains the files on HARD drive recovery. Usually this partition will be created again when you use the Toshiba Recovery disk to put the laptop back to factory settings. So in the case where you n t need this files or the partition, you can delete

  • How to replace an old time with a new Capsule?

I am replacing my old Time Capsule (version 2008, 1 TB) with a new one (2016 2 TB).  How can I go about without screw it up?

There is an option in the configuration... Plug the new TC on the network... TC WAN in all that is the current main router. If it's the old big TC.

Open your Mac and go to the airport utility. (Your Mac must be Mavericks or later)

Click on other WiFi devices (1) in the upper left corner... It will start the installation wizard.

The wizard will choose the wrong thing... to extend the old TC's wireless... Do not worry.. Click more options at the bottom left.

List of other Options choose, replace an existing device.

    The rest works basically automagically.

The new TC will take the old values of TC... the old TC will be given factory.

The end of it you will say to remove the old TC and plug the new TC in its place... voila... piece of cake... walk in the Park.

You can then determine what you do with your old TC.

  • How to create the dual boot with Red Hat Linux and Vista on Satellite A200

    Hi all!

I have a Satellite A200 pre-installed with vista home premium and I would install another OS that is Red Hat Linux Fedora Core 7.
Can someone advice me how do? I'll be very grateful to receive your answers. Thanks again!

Well, I put t use this Linux distro on my laptop but I used the Knoppix Live CD and it was very easy.
It was not necessary to install anything. I simply booted from the Live CD and I could use the full Linux operating system.

So, it might be better to use this Linux live CD instead of the complete installation.
I think that the main problem would be available to the driver.
The fact is that Toshiba does not support Linux on laptops and so Linux drivers are not available.

  • How to replace Labview RT10.0 with RT8.2 on the remote system?

LabVIEW RT10.0 is installed on our new PXI-e8133 controller. Our host is running Labview RT8.2. That's why I'm unable to download and run a VI from the host to the remote system.

I want to download RT8.2 between the host and the target (so replacing/removing RT10.0 on the remote system). On another controller, we could choose the 'old' RT8.2 by download to MAX (which replaces the latest version). This is not an option with the new controller. Add/Remove software MAX, available versions of RT on the host is 'none' (even if RT8.2 is listed under the software on my system).

How to install RT8.2 on the remote system? I have to completely remove RT10.0 first of the remote system?

    Thank you!

Unfortunately, the minimum Version of the compatible LabVIEW RT for the PXI-e 8133 is 2010. This means that you must either upgrade to LV2010 or choose another controller.

Make sure that all the * your * stuff is backed up.  Locate your installation media (for Windows XP and you want to install applications) and your serial numbers and product keys for the same.

Equip your Windows XP support.  Boot from it.  The installation process to remove all the partitions that exist during the installation.  Create new partitions.  Install Windows XP.

Have you installed the Service Packs again?

Get SP2 (manually) and save it to your desktop. (There's a link here.) [You are a COMPUTER professional for now.]

    Install it.

    Hello
I have just pursached a Satellite A300-1ND with Vista Home 32 pre installed.

Where should I start? What should I be wary and be careful?
What bios update (XP update last 1.7)?

Thanks, I appreciate all the help

Before you try to install Windows XP to create a new partition.
Then boot from the XP CD and install it. After that, you must restore the bootloader of Windows Vista using EasyBCD, for example.

  • How to replace the hard drive with an SSD on a model of end 2011 MacBook Pro 15 inch, A1286

    Hello

I would like to replace the hard drive on my model of end 2011 MacBook Pro 15 inch, A1286 with a disk solid state drive (SSD). First of all, I would like to know if this is possible. Second, what is the best way to do it? I'm under the Yosemite OS if that makes a difference.

Here are some technical details of my current system:

-MacBook Pro 15 inch, late 2011 model A1286

    -OS yosemite

    -16 GB of memory/RAM

    -Currently using stock HD

All instructions step by step would be helpful with what software should I use to make backups of my current operating system (e.g., SuperDuper). I would also like to know what tools or material I need like type of screwdriver, cables to transfer data to the SSD, etc.. My goal is to not have to reinstall each app one by one on the SSD, but if that's the only way to do it then it's okay.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can see instructions OWC here. Tools are mentioned in the discussion (I used a plastic knife picnic with the stronger edge somewhat blunt for nylon pry tool). I suggest you invest in one of these external fences. Install the SSD in who and clone internally externally with CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper. Then move the external drive of the internal drive after the start of the SSD in the external to confirm the operation.
