Hello

I found one day a tutorial of "dissasembling" on the homepage of Lenovo. If I remember correctly there are also tutorials for other series that the series S he... I have searched for it many times since my first encounter with her, but with no luck! Anyone know what I'm talking about and could someone put a link to the correct page at Lenovo?

Thank you all very much...

Can someone point me in the right direction? I am looking for a complete specification for the range of Netbooks S10 and S12 and the Thinkpad Edge 11 ".

I'm sure that I've seen a PDF document that lists all of the models and their specifications, but I can't find it now. I saw the documents listed here http://www.lenovo.com/psref/ but they don't seem to list the S12 models at all. I guess some models I'm looking for are abandoned, but presumably the specifications should be available somewhere?

Please note that I am looking for UK models.

  • S10e no video when the DIMM is added

New S10e with 512 M / 160GB disk/XP. Boots fine with no additional DIMM inserted, but when I added a 2 GB DDR2 SO - DIMM 667 I get the lights to the front, but no HD light and after 4 seconds system appears to be off. No beeps/sound.

Tried with one other DIMM which worked very well in another S10, same result. Pull the DIMM and it starts very well again.

Tried Fn + F2 to make sure that the LCD was on (no result)

The stop/cut the current and the battery / hold down the power button / stop for 20 seconds. No difference.

Any other suggestions or will likely need to be returned for repair?

  • Question about mixup Chipset Driver

    Howdy all,

I got a s10-2 with a processor n280 during holidays, and after playing for a bit with Windows 7 Starter, I decided that I wanted to install my copy of Windows 7 Professional.  Is a full retail version, I had bought to use on my laptop, and then said laptop died in November before I had the chance.

I saved the factory disk partitions on my desk, then carried my Windows 7 dvd on a USB key.  I installed the USB, wiping the partitions in the process.  Used my product key for Win 7 Professional, everything worked fine.

Then, when you download the drivers for the s10-2, I had a moment of emptiness because I accidentally chose s10 instead of s10 - 2.  Fortunately, I caught my mistake until I downloaded all the drivers.  Unfortunately, I used my home network to begin the installation of the first download I passed until I realize my mistake; which was of course for the chipset drivers.

Looking through the s10-2 downloads, there is no driver chipset for windows 7 OS.  However, there was a driver chipset for windows 7 under s10 and that's what I installed by accident.  The netbook works, but I have never made such an error, so I don't know what to expect.  The drivers of the chipset of the s10 will be used, or windows 7 will simply continue to use any drivers that he first used?  I guess he has the appropriate drivers built in as, as mentioned, there is just no downloads s10-2 for win 7 platform.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.  Do the measures must be taken (reinstallation of win 7 / removing the s10 drivers), or windows 7 will ignore the s10 drivers and continue driving the s10-2 itself?

Thanks to all who can help.  No driver more download at 01:00 for me.

  • S12 VIA upgrades

    Hello.

I have a S12 (VIA Chipset), and I was wondering about some possible improvements to it.  I'm squeezing every last bit of power and performance of this machine.  Not so much to make it powerful, but it is fast/quick.  Want some advice on if that is possible.

1 Bluetooth.  I know the S10 could easily have a bluetooth module is installed and I was wondering if it was the same way for the S12.

2 RAM.  I have maxed out my RAM (3 GB) but was wondering about the RAM soldered on the motherboard.  I know it's running at 667 mhz, which slows down my stick of 2 GB at that speed (it's at 800 mhz).  Could I send the computer in to Lenovo and ask them to replace this welded to the stick with one that works at 800 mhz?

3 turbo Memory.  I read that there is an empty Mini PCIe connector on the motherboard.  A "stick" of memory Intel Turbo would be correctly installed in this slot machine?  Or the chipset VIA prevents this.

    4. HARD DRIVE.  I have considered upgrading to an SSD, but I soon will dual-boot windows 7 Ultimate edition and Windows XP, and the SSD with a capacity large enough for this is too expensive at the moment.  Disc standard HARD of the S12 is 5400 RPM (I think), but a disk hard 7200 RPM would help a lot?  I doNOT want to sacrifice battery life for this particular uprgare however, so if 7200 RPM drives suck too much juice, then what is a better solution.

    5. all possible means to speed up the graphics would be nice, I however can't think at all.

6 would be dual bootin windows 7 and XP slow down my performance?  I would not think so experience, but have never delt with windows 7.

If anyone has good advice please share it.

Hi try to answer some of your quests...

1 BT it is not manual to explore the S12... but a good help is to know how to get inside... Update disk HARD S12

but remember... .you permanently losing your warranty...

    2. it is mission impossible memory soldered on board... welded .the... not socket based...

    3. a location minicpi-free express... ok... whose know if it works... but even when you have 3 GB of memory...

Turbo memory only works for Vista... and it's a waste of money... anything goes speeds up...

    4. 7200 RPM HARD drive will be transfer only the data faster... don't eat higher consumption of the battery in 5-10 minutes all... so no fear on this subject... losing against SSD, but they cost 10 to 20 times by Go more... 160 GB SSD costs equal the entire S12... bad ratio... could be better next year, but did not have a sphere of magical glass

    5. no graphics acceleration...

6 depends on driver Windows 7 for your Via the machine...

not really easy to compare XP with W7 but much more efficient than Vista...

hope that makes something more clear...

  • Windows 7 install - problems Audio S12 button (Kalvin Klein?)

Received my s12 a little over a week and after adding another gig of ram, I decided to install W7 just to see how it would go.

Long story short, he ran very well after a few adjustments, and I decided to go with the installation in solo and simply abandoned xp total.

Everything works fine, however the audio buttons don't work... or hard buttons, or by using the Fn + left/right arrows

I swear it worked normally for the first day, but I must be mistaken.

What is strange, is that when you try to use, I get the popup of OSD, indicating that she is silent, or when you try to adjust vertically, it will only move down a notch (from 100%), however is not actually change the volume.

I came across the post of Kalvin Klein on the realtek drivers, and after much slow downloaded from the lenovo site, I installed them (178 MB audio drivers is limit ridiculous lol)

Unfortunately, the situation is the same, and I was hoping that miss me just something stupid or there is something that I'm able to do.

I do not particularly like, but it's nice to be able to quickly lower the volume or cut it if I'm somewhere that doesn't bother loud sounds from my computer suddenly.

Suggestions?  Or am I just out of luck for now?

  • 9 cell battery for IdeaPad S10-2?

I wonder if one battery 9 cells which is compatible with the IdeaPad S10 will work as well in a S10-2. I need to replace my 6-cell and plans the upgrade for greater autonomy, if possible.

    Hello and welcome,

I know that there is a (third-party) available 9cell battery for S9e, S12, S9, S10 S10e all could use all the same 3,6,9 cell batteries which are decided for S10 (one)... like the present case, i.e. 9-cell for S10 S12

But is not fit for the S10-2 (two) and vice versa for the S10-2 battery does not fit into the S10...

They are a little different... S10 - 2 have a small notch / nose that prohibit to connect the batteries like this for example

    3 & 6 cells for S10 - 2

    Either way S10-3 & S10 - 3T have also different batteries as S10, S10-2 have

  • New S10 could not connect to the Netgear WGR641v8 wireless router

    All,

Really frustrated with the nine s10 that I received this afternoon. All my other laptops are able to connect to the router Netgear wireless fine but this one. I could connect the s10 of unsecured networks of neighbors very well, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem. More compatibility issue with built in network card wireless Broadcom and Netgear chipset. I was able to connect to the local network with thin cable.

Anyone have any better ideas? I updated latest firmware for the router. I think also got the latest version of the driver for the adapter. Where is the problem? I tried setting secured or unsecured (no password) for the router, no luck. I'm scratching my head right now.

This is the first time ever, I have a new laptop failed on me. I contacted the customer service and the guy had no idea.

    Anyway, thanks in advance.

The WGR641v8 has enabled ' Access List' (it limits the devices that can connect to only those network manually allow)?

I have a Netgear DG834G or something like and a S12 (I think it was the same as the S10 (but not sure) WiFi adapter), once I'd added it is MAC to my list of access routers, I was able to connect without any problem (actually I use said WiFi connection right now).

[edit] Also, check what encryption protocol you should use and what windows uses - he can't pick up the correct one to use and if the connection is a fail for this reason. [/ edit]

  • Broadband Mobile S12

    Hello.

    I have a S12 - model 20021.

There is a slot for SIM card under the cover... but I think that there is no GSM radio module. ? !

Anyone know if there is a GSM module compatible-I can install it inside?

    Thank you.

Hello and welcome, he... I didn't learn the first time this question... Al I can say, it's the best card WWAN compatible is the F3507 SE... .and will work not all cards across (different / new Firmware card) even when you buy a Lenovo card (used by some thinkpads/S10 with 3 G/S10-2 with 3G)

second is more difficult to disassemble your Ideapad... you need to install an antenna frame LCD (loose warranty)...

and the third barrier is under windows until now not good work scenario (even with the real drivers)...

Tips for trying the upgrade/opening S12 here in this part of the forum... even for trial, the wwan card upgrade...

  • Lenovo S12 touchpad help

OK, here's the tragic story. One day my sister accidentally sank a whole Cup of water on my keyboard S12. So much water that when I turned on the computer in turn in the sink, there was water coming out of usb ports. I immediately stop the machine and thinking on the spot got my screwdriver. I opened it upwards so that I can dry. On the way I know I disconnected the ribbon cable from the touchpad to the motherboard, but I can't find the place where it connects. I think that this is possible because I had the same problem with the keyboard, but I fixed it. And the computer works great as im now use it with an external usb mouse.

IM wondering if anyone has a guide or know how to guide me in the right direction

Hi unfortunately there is no HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual)... and I didn't know anybody doesn't open its S12 more right now...

But I think that there is no possible place... you will see the small connector with a small plastic latch... If you open the cover under the keyboard...

There are only a few connectors onboard... keyboard, video, sound, speaker and touchpad...

If you want to see how the connector should look to...? See the S10 Lenovo Service training how open or closed connectors...

hope you encouraged how it is easy to open the lid...

  • Sorting tutorial

    Everyone-

I'm helping a friend get a massive amount of music (approximately 6 000 albums with 40 + thousand songs/melodies) after a devastating accident and burn. We strive to merge not less than 6 or 7 different versions of iTunes media and to get iTunes to sort intelligently. It isn't surprising that things do not go well with a big media of this size.

One of the biggest obstacles is that we do not seem to understand exactly how iTunes sorts out the artists, albums, genres, etc.. So, I make this appeal for help. We need to know the exact definitions for the various headings proposed in the list when one realizes the following keystrokes:

Click on the library (upper-left) > songs

Right-click in an empty space at the right end of the column headers.

Then, we need to know how iTunes uses these entries (and all others) during the generation of various lists (for example, artists, Albums, Genre, song, etc.).

Finally, we need to know which of these entries (above) are used in what boxes and tabs of the various windows 'Get Info'.

All this, of course, is far too complex and would require much too big an assignment to duly taken into consideration here. (Most of you are already losing interest!) So, any of you can tell me a website or a book published describing the arcane (apparently) definitions and rules sort used by iTunes?

IMPORTANT NOTE: We do not ask for specific help with these questions here. We badly need a discussion being authoritarian that we can study offline.

MORE INFO: We use 4 laptops Windows of different brands and models. The best is an ASUS G750JM, Core i7. Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. iTunes 12.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Stan,

I'm not aware of any of this tutorial, well someone else here can be.

While this isn't your preference, people here could probably help with specific questions you have.

  • Is there a phone rep who can help me get my profile on my new computer? I think I did OK for the tutorial, but now it does not work

I had to buy a new computer as my last one had problems. I backed up what I think is all of my files on an external hard drive and moved them to the new computer but Thunderbird does not open. So I re downloaded Thunderbird and followed the tutorial on copying and pasting the old profile in the profile folder and now Thunderbrid (I think) will not open.

Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

So I put everything in the trash and re downloaded the program, and I still get the same error (I however wouldn't be the case that I was starting from scratch).

In a little over my head. Any help?

Try this method to import emails.

    • Tools > Addons or Menu icon > Addons
    • Click the gear icon and select "install the addon from file".
    • Find the downloaded as file and click 'open '.
    • You may have to restart Thunderbird.

To import an mbox file (all messages are stored in Thunderbird mbox files)
Right click on the email account
Select: ImportExporttools > import a mbox file
Select: directly import one or more mbox files
