Type of storage array

Good day together.

This weekend I came across a problem with my ESXi Cluster which resulted in all my esxi and restarting the virtual machine host. We were busy replacing old switches san 2 GB with new 8 GB san switches. During this process we stop all the port on the secondary switch in order to install the switch. However the ESXi host would try an admission interview, but fail.

However, I would like to confirm this to my HOME should be.

It is currently: VMW_SATP_ALUA with RoundRobin.

Note please.

I have an IBM DS6800 and IBM DS8100.

Hello

This is the correct config for the mentioned IBM Storage, since vSphere4 for the storage of Active\Active RoundRobin is recommended only not fixed

    Hi Surya,

    No, it's not any problem with the configuration of your path.

    It only means that this policy does not allow additional configuration.

    I.e. with fixed NMP, you would be able to configure a preferred path allowing you to manually distribute the i/o load.

    Your current configuration does not offer this option.

    Kind regards

  • These can be wired together as their data types (digital, string, array, cluster, etc.) do not match.

    Hi, I get an error update LabVIEW 8.2 for 2011:

    These can be wired together as their data types (digital, string, array, cluster, etc.) do not match. View the contextual help window to find out what type of data is required.
    The type of the source is cluster of 2 elements.
    The type of the sink is typedef "IMAQ Image.ctl"
    IMAQImage (IMAQImage,).

    This type of incorrect argument can be caused by an old instance of the Image data type.
    To fix, simply replace the instance with the definition of type IMAQ Image.ctl in the control menu of the image palette.

    The source is:

    Call library function node - image (dup)

    The sink is:

    IMAQ_array for image - image

    I tried to delete the image VI IMAQ_array & always replacing but it connects...

    Here is a picture of the VI, I have a number of VI to update and they all have this problem

    Home is also the VI.

    See if you can shed some light on this

    The solution, he had to do with the representation of images in the old and the version of Labview

    Hello

    I have the following equipment:

    -HP Proliant DL360e

    -H221 Host Bus

    Storage array - HP P2000 G3

    The software to install is VMware 5.1. I download the ISO on the HP website.

    I could install VM disk on the DL360e when the storage array is not connected.

    I could connect to the storage array and configure the raid array by using the network card.

    The problem:

    At startup, when I connect the HP H221 of the controller cable to the storage group. The server hangs when you try to initialize the H221. The message is "initialization".

    If I connect the cable after booting, I can't find storage array P2000.

    Any ideas?

  • size of disk usage report BUT based on the type of storage used

    It is an interesting question. I must point out a use of the vms in the UK disc. (that's the easy part) where I would appreciate help is...

    lets say I have 50 VMS, but out of these 50 vms, there are two types of storage: drive fast and slow, I can return my virtual machines.

    What I currently have is my data stores named in a way where I can ask out of them as a way to do... I hope. I will name my stores of data such as:

    ds7k-01 (slow disk)

    or dsSSD-01(fast disk)

    and lets say

    VMA uses datastore ds7k-01

    VMB uses datastore dsSSD-01

    I need to know how can I run my report and based on a key word in the name of the data store (key word is 7 k or SSD), and have it fill in the correct field in my report.

    is the warning, here's how I created my report... so should incorporate into this stle of script...

    the output of my report currently looks like this:

    VM, cpu, memory

    2 6 VMA

    I want it to look like this

    CPU, memory, slowdisk, VM, fastdisk

    VMA 2 6 100 0 (better yet, if it is zero, do not put a 0 in the field.)

    4 8 0 200 VMB

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards!

    Yes, it is possible.

    You could do something like that

    $storageVendors = @ {}

    "60060480" ="EMC";

    "60050768" ="IBM".

    }

    Get-VMHost MyEsx | Get-ScsiLun |

    Select CanonicalName,

    @{N = 'Seller'; E = {$storageVendors [$_]} CanonicalName.Split('.') {{[[1]. subString (0.8)]}}

    You will have to compile a complete picture of the ID and sellers of course.

    But I wonder why you wish to do this, since the information is already present

    Get-VMHost MyEsx | Get-ScsiLun |

    Select CanonicalName, seller

  • Should we use FIX or RR for ALUA storage array?

    We have activated just ALUA on the CX4-240 storage array.

    After the restart ESXi hosts, the policy path is set to fixed.  Need to change us to Round Robin?

    Your opinion is requested.

    Thank you

    Hello

    As mentioned earlier, Vmware HCL says that you can make the VMW_PSP_FIXED

    http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/detail.php?deviceCategory=san&productid=4427&deviceCategory=san&partner=30&keyword=cx4%20240&isSVA=1&page=1&display_interval=10&sortColumn=Partner&sortOrder=Asc.So if you would like to switch to RR,you have to check with EMC to know its Supported path policy. Since your FLARE code is 29, it would be good if you can get updated (Flare 30) after confirmation by EMC.

  • ESX server with 2 different storage array?

    Hello.

    I currently have my ESX servers connected to storage DS4700 and most berries.  Each ESX is double path via a switch which, in turn, allows me to see my DS4700.  My question is, can I i the area my ESX Server so that it can "see" my DS8300 and I would be able to assign LUNS of my ESX servers with no problems?  Both can coexist?  I think I should use for my DS4700 host bus adapters and host bus adapters that are dedicated to my DS8300?  A UNIX point, these 2 storage arrays do not 'communicate' the same way (for example, SDD and RDAC).

    Thank you.

    Steph

    SDD driver is for the multipath. VMware has its own multi-channel driver that is shipped with ESX server, you won't not any 3rd party multipathing software.

    In any case to be abel to see camps Bay you have no need to activate the software multpathing. It is intended only to provide a redundant path to any logical unit number hosted by a single table through several MS SPs/Ports.

    Area just for DS8300 ESX Server and a new analysis should see the new targets and when you present LUNS to your host definetion analyze again another you should see the DS8300 LUN.

    I hope this helps.

  • Data to be moved to the new storage array: ASM_POWER_LIMIT question

    DB version: 10.2.0.4
    Solaris operating system: 5.10
    Setup: 2 NŒUD RAC storage 2 TB of data in 4 LUNS (all 4 LUNs belong to a single storage group)

    We will replace our IBM 2 existing a new 4 TB storage array to Sun Storagetek.

    That's what I decided to do after a few R & D.

    Below are the steps that I've prepared based ML Note: 557348.1

    Create 4 LUNs on the new storage, and then create a test using Diskgroup
    SQL> CREATE DISKGROUP TEST EXTERNAL REDUNDANCY DISK '/rdsk/c0t1s1', '/rdsk/c0t1s2', '/rdsk/c0t1s3', '/rdsk/c0t1s4';
    Check if the diskgroup is created and mounted:
    SQL> SELECT STATE, NAME FROM V$ASM_DISKGROUP;
    If so, then manually mount on other instances of ASM:
    SQL> ALTER DISKGROUP TEST MOUNT;
    SQL> SELECT STATE, NAME FROM V$ASM_DISKGROUP;
    If the previous steps were successful and the diskgroup TEST can be mounted with success (on each ASM instance), and then drop the diskgroup TEST as follows:
    SQL> alter diskgroup test dismount; --(from all the ASM instances, except from one).

    SQL> DROP DISKGROUP TEST; --(from the ASM instance, which the diskgroup is still mounted).
    Records of candidate is ready to be added to the desired diskgroup:
    SQL> ALTER DISKGROUP <my production diskgroup> ADD DISK '/rdsk/c0ts1', '/rdsk/c0t1s2', '/rdsk/c0t1s3', '/rdsk/c0t1s4';
    My question:
    Since involved LUNS are of large size, and rebalancing would make the command Add DRIVE slower. Right?
    I am thinking of setting the ASM_POWER_LIMIT to 0 until I started to do this and later new rever to 1. Is this a good approach?

    Hello

    My question:
    Since involved LUNS are of large size, and rebalancing would make the command Add DRIVE slower. Right?

    No, when you run the command ' add/drop disc' ASM reads and writes only metadata in the headers of all asmdisks (belonging to the diskgroup) and the guest is released.
    The complete rebalancing of the data process runs in the background.

    The fact that the guest to be released does not mean that the operation has ended. You need to check on the V$ ASM_DISKS (GROUP_NUMBER, PATH, HEADER_STATUS, NAME) to determine if you can remove the disks to the HOST.

    see this example (no difference at the time of change of power of rebalancing)

    ===================================================

    SQL> ALTER DISKGROUP DG_DATA
            ADD DISK '/dev/oracleasm/disks/ASM_VOL'
            DROP DISK DG_DATA_0000
    REBALANCE POWER 0;

    Diskgroup altered.

    Elapsed: 00:00:07.90

    ====================================================
    SQL> ALTER DISKGROUP DG_DATA
            ADD DISK '/dev/oracleasm/disks/DISK01'
            DROP DISK DG_DATA_0001
    REBALANCE POWER 5;

    Diskgroup altered.

    Elapsed: 00:00:08.21

    I am thinking of setting the ASM_POWER_LIMIT to 0 until I started to do this and later new rever to 1. Is this a good approach?

    You must know that the rebalancing will take place when there is a change of configuration diskgroup.
    Be careful, affecting the ASM_POWER_LIMIT 0 can let the diskgroup in a State of imbalance or unbalanced. (I do not recommend this)

    My recommendation:

    (* 1) save all your databases and valid backup (always required to protect your data). *

    You NEED to check the note below before add your ASMDISK.
    * Block Corruption in ASM while that balance [ID 1098453.1] *.

    2) run in two steps

    alter diskgroup  add disks  rebalance power x;
    alter diskgroup  drop disks  rebalance power x;

    Or Execute in a single step. (My favorite)
    Alternatively, we can run add disk & drop drive statements in a single operation, in what way that a rebalancing operation will be launched.

    alter diskgroup
     add disk
     drop disk
    rebalance power 9;

    Wait until the end of the operation of rebalancing.
    You can follow the process of rebalancing using the following queries:

    SELECT  NAME,
         PATH,
         HEADER_STATUS,
         ROUND(TOTAL_MB/1024)  TOTAL_GB,
          ROUND( FREE_MB/1024) FREE_GB,
         ROUND((TOTAL_MB-FREE_MB)/1024) TOTAL_USED_GB
    FROM V$ASM_DISK
    WHERE GROUP_NUMBER= (SELECT GROUP_NUMBER FROM
         V$ASM_DISKGROUP WHERE NAME='DG_DATA');

    select * from v$asm_operation;

    select * from gv$asm_operation;

    select      NAME,
         ROUND(TOTAL_MB/1024)  TOTAL_GB,
         ROUND( FREE_MB/1024) FREE_GB,
         ROUND((TOTAL_MB-FREE_MB)/1024) TOTAL_USED_GB,
         UNBALANCED
    FROM V$ASM_DISKGROUP;

  • Determination of storage array card

    DB version: 11.2.0.1 RAC
    Platform: Solaris (x 86-64)

    In solaris, y at - there a command I could use that will provide me with the details of the storage array shared (vendor, model, number etc)

    This will depend on the s/w installed driver to this storage array. If you for example connect to EMC, you're probably using Powerpath and it can provide you with details on the storage layer and its connectivity.

    If the server uses (PCI cards) host bus adapters, then you can run the command of operating systems to enumerate the PCI bus - lists the channel provider of PCI cards. This command on Linux is lspci. This however will tell you the make and model of the storage Bay - only what PCI device your server uses to communicate with him.

    You can also view the kernel startup log (file + / var/log/messages + Linux) because it must list the storage... driver loading and this driver usually lists some data his discovery h/w or deepening.

    Also remember that the server will be generally don't see that LUN published to this server. This excludes data such as RAID levels are supported by the storage system, it is the size of the cache RAM, the number of disks and there drive sizes and so forth. Why the server would know these data when even when it does that the LUNS to be used for storage?

  • How can I check that an object is an instance of any type in an array of types of partners?

    In LabVIEW, it is possible to check the type of execution of an object to helping the most specific Class.vi. Use of this would be to perform a security check if a sort of class uses instances of another class, but is only able to manage a subset of types of children of this class.

    For example, suppose that you had Beverage.lvclass, which represents an abstract type of product, several subclasses: Coffee.lvclass, Tea.lvclass and Soda.lvclass.

    We also have a Person.lvclass that can drink. A person also has preferences on drinks or don't like:

    Attached is an implementation of this in LabVIEW.

    In Person.lvclass: Drink.vi, I have the following code. For some reason any wire seems broken in these extracts, but it is in the actual code.

    In Scenario.vi, I have the following code:

    What I find is that no error is generated and instead, I get "Yum, I love the!", "Yum, I love coffee!" and "yum, I love soda!" My guess is that the most specific Class.vi throws wire of entry of the 'target class' static type rather than the type of performance - and because I'm passing in the elements of an array of types, the static type of the cable is upcasted to the more specific type which is a superclass of the types contained in the table - which would be Beverage.lvclass. And if distribution tries to determine if an object of static type Beverage.lvclass is an instance of Beverage.lvclass, which of course will happen all the time.

    Is it possible to make the LabVIEW to check the more specific runtype type of an object? As in, is there something I could do that, in this case for example, would allow me to get the required behavior of Joe throwing an error when he did drink soda? Or is this another limitation of LabVIEW that I have to live with?

    Your assumption seems reasonable. I can't check right now, but there is a primitive called preserve run time type, which should do what you want.
