Unable to access secure Internet connections

I have my laptop series satellite has recently stopped for allowing me access to secure Internet connections. When I spoke with my Bank's online support, they identified that I will need to reinstall the xp home operating system and it will get it back. Only thing is, is that it came pre-installed, and I did not all discs...

I don't want to pay a bomb buy new XP - any suggestions on how I can make low-cost cela? I get a new digital / provider internet tv etc Thursday the engineer came to the House to install it and I need to have this problem before it happens (this leaves me a day and a half!)

Help! Thank you! :)

  • WRT160N is unable to access the internet but who still have network connectivity

I have a PC attached by a cable and a PC and a laptop connected wirelessly to my router. Someone knocked taking sheets, so I reconnected it and now I can't access the internet even if I still have access to the network and I can get readers shared on all machines. I can ipconfig all machines and get Ip etc. I ping too the other machines on the network, but Firefox and IE will not go to the internet

I plugged the cable directly from the modem to 2 machines and get internet access. I rebooted router, modem, and workstations many times. I even put in the disk of router and crossed all configurations, once more and it went well but still the same result.

I have no wireless phones, but they have a wireless printer that I bought a few weeks but dounbt that this would hinder.

The router is only a few months old, ideas?

Your router could have lost configuration settings and may need to be reconfigured.

Since you're online with the modem then you reconfigure router following this.

For connection cable and broadband connection.

  • Screen says unable to access the internet. When trying to navigate.

I have down loaded the firefox program. It opens correctly to the search page. When I try to browse the internet after typing in my search, the next screen that appears shows unable to connect to the internet. I can browse through Explorer windows without any problem, so I know that I have an internet connection. I made sure that the firewall will allow the fire fox program. At this point, I am at a loss. If it's important, I am running the new windows 8 64-bit. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

If it's the subject: home page, then that is a build-in the page that is not needed and use the internet access.

One possible cause is security software (firewall, antivirus) that prevents or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

  • Securing internet connection Wi - Fi with Equium L10 and Belkin router

    Hello

I installed a wireless belkin router on my laptop L10 and have an excellent connection to the internet - everything works fine. However, I would like to secure the connection to prevent indiscreet listening - I tried to do this under the encryption and authentication of the menus, but I'm not sure about the different acronyms used - eg Shared, WEP and WPA for example.

I tried different combinations of these, but the laptop disconnects just from the router until I return to the connection 'open' standard with encryption disabled. Can someone point me in the right direction... ??

    Hello Dan

Your router is unknown to me, but encryption is still working on the same path. Check the security settings of your router, then select security options. Set the encryption you want to use (WEP) and the password.
Your device must be configured as described on this page
    http://LSS.wisc.edu/~Sara/wireless/pcwepconfig.htm

If everything is done on the right track to avoid any problems. I also use WIFI at home with 64-bit encryption, and I spent 10 minutes for any configuration.

  • Remote access over Internet connection problems

I'm trying to figure out how to get remote access to work via the internet. I used to work and it works very well, but we are also on a local network. I have sent the invitation to someone and the password, but it does not connect. I tried the following:

    • Computer Management / Services / connection manager (manual) remote access & routing and remote access (manual)
    • Windows Firewall / allow a program... / Exceptions / Allow: Remote Assistance & routing and remote access
    • Disabled Norton Firewall

I have alos got my friend to make sure that its parameters match mine. And I still have no success. Does anyone have other ideas? Alternatively, it won't work because I am trying to connect via the internet?

    Hi nataar,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

    • What software do you use for remote access?
    • What is the version of Windows installed on the computer?

If you use Remote Desktop connection in Windows Vista, try the procedure below

Log your PC computer with an account that has administrator privileges.

Step 1 open the start menu, right-click on "My computer" and select "Properties". A window with the options and details of the computer opens on your screen.

Step 2 go to the 'Remote' tab at the top of the window "Properties".

Step 3 check the box for the option "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" in the section "Remote Desktop" in the Properties window.

Step 4: click on the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the window to save the changes and enable the remote desktop. Outside users will now be able to access your computer over the Internet.

Enabling remote desktop access to your computer

To activate the Office remote connections to your computer, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, right-click computer, and then select Properties.
    2. Under tasks, click settings on the remote control and confirm the user account control prompt.
    3. Select allow connections from computers running any Version of remote desktop. (Version 'more safe' only works on using IPSec security, and on these networks business networks, you probably will not be allowed to change these settings in any case).
    4. By default, all administrator-level accounts can connect to the computer. If you want to grant remote desktop access to a limited number of users, click Select users, add, advanced, find now and then find the desired name in the search results section. Double-click it. To add another name, click Advanced and find now again.
    5. Click OK to close the dialog boxes.

NOTE A password must be set on a user account before the user can connect to the remote computer.

At this point, you must do two things to make sure that remote desktop has been implemented correctly:

    • Click Start, Control Panel. Under Security, select allow a program through Windows Firewall and confirm the user account control prompt. On the Exceptions tab, find the Office remotely in the list of Exceptions and do not forget, that it is checked. If it isn't, check it out. On the general tab, make sure that block all incoming connections is not checked.
    • Use another computer to test the remote desktop before you get involved in the Internet game. Follow the instructions in the second part of the chapter to open the desktop client remotely on another computer on your network. As the host name, type the name of the computer you just put up. Make sure that you can connect on your own local network before continuing.

  • Satellite M40X - unable to access wireless internet

I was given this laptop from my brother who wiped included clean remove all the drivers. I have been unable to establish wireless connections and the computer doesn't seem to be picking up wireless signals.
I guess this may be due to missing (?) drivers, but would be grateful for the help of learned most of his colleagues. Thank you.

Don't have it deleted as well wireless drivers? Have a look in Device Manager, there should be a wireless device in the network adapters.

XP: Go to start-> Control Panel-> system-> hardware-> Device Manager.
Vista: Click on start-> Control Panel-> system-> Device Manager.

See all devices with a yellow exclamation point? You will need to install these device drivers.

Have you tried reinstalling the Wireless LAN driver? (you can download it from the Web from Toshiba site)

Also, make sure that the switch of the Wifi in the front or on the side of the laptop is turned on.
