Unable to prepare the host to Vcloud Director

Hi all

Hope you guys can help me. I try to install the track of vcloud Director version, and I got most of this work. The problem I have now is that I cannot prepare a host. I installing the server in a cluster, I have no shared but only storage using local disks (wondering if this isn't the problem). I added my vcenter server, which is a virtual machine on a host, but I'm still unable to activate the host for its use.

I read somewhere on the forums that it must be in maintenance mode, but it does not work. In fact if I do this, the host gets a Red Cross in the available column. On the only host I get an error saying connection refused. The other, they say just can't prepare host.

Any help would be welcome.

KettieKop

You need to meet the prerequisites first, specifically to have active DRS.  For the active DRS on the Cluster of hosts in vCenter, for the DRS, you need to have more than one ESX host AND the shared storage.

Shared storage is a requirement for vMotion (as the DRS is on your virtual machines for load balancing)

Several hosts is necessary to allow pools of resources (you need a place to load their balance)

Once you meet the requirements, then you should be able to view the ESX host, when you try to prepare them for vCloud Director.

  • vCloud Director 5.1 prepare the hosts with a busy workload

Hi, we have 3 hosts in a cluster of vSphere with vCenter 5.1 4. I'm planing to install the agent on the three hosts vCloud.

My problem is there is now tons of virtual machines running on these 3 guests. If I followed the provider VDC Setup Wizard and simply add the credentials to root for these 3 hosts, it causes any failure to virtual machines running on the host? She will force guests to go into Maintenance Mode and cause the failure? Or vCloud will simply report failure because there are virtual machines running on these hosts?

If vCloud will just report failures, I guess that I will then have the opportunity to prepare each host individually, which allows me to move a load of work to rest 2 hosts?

Here's what I did: I followed the wizard configuration provider VDC and when reach the host preparation stage I put in the wrong password for guests. The preparation of the host has not of course. I then have the options to prepare each host. I think that I was just more careful here. Stage of preparation to host should stop if there is direct VM on the host.

  • vSphere 5.5 hosts appear under "Hosts" in vCloud Director

    Hi guys.

I had a problem with my cell of vCloud Director and re-installed completely.

On the vCD fresh installation I have no problem adding vCenter 5.5 but no host show at all.

I tried to remove and re - install agents on host computers, vCD reset my vCenter inventory 5.5 database, restart the hosts, but nothing is.

    Any thoughts on this topic?

    Thank you

    Campellos

Attach a vCenter is not enough, you must create a provider vDC then.  It is the association of a cluster for the vCloud instance.  Once this is done, guests who are part of the cluster should appear in the list of guests to prepare.

Clusters must be active DRS.  Do not disable DRS on a cluster, it is attached to vCloud Director.

  • Move the VM from: vCloud director to vCenter

How to move a virtual machine from: vcloud director to the vcenter even integrated into vcloud Director?

If VCD has no more need of this virtual machine, you can perform steps below.

1 unregister the virtual of VC machine

2 remove the machine virtual de VCD

    3. save the VM in VC

SCR would be an additional tool that would be useful for moving loads of work, but a lot depends on number of cases of use of involved and of the virtual computer.

  • Send ISO file to the catalog in vCloud Director?

    Hello

I am trying to download an iso file on my catalog, but unfortunately I have error: unable to connect to the host on port 443 x.x.x.x

Is it possible to send iso (on request)?

    Kind regards

    Piotr

Piotr Hi, yes it is certainly possible.

You by all means try to do it in a situation where you need to go through a Proxy (perhaps with authentication)?

I noticed that sometimes the soft transfer Java have problems when it is not a right network connection. You are able to check without going through a proxy?

    Thank you.

  • Where can I find the package libXdmcp vCloud Director 5.1 RPM installation?

    Hi all

I have installed my first vCloud Director and am not a Linux

package. I downloaded and installed several RPM packages on the web,
but none of them does not seem to fix the problem. vCloud Director always told me
the package is not installed. I think that am downloading and incorrect installation
RPM. Can someone please point me to a URL where I can download the right file?
I went to many Web pages with hundreds of links to libXdmcp
downloads, but I don't know which one to choose from. Also if you can tell me the
good way to install this would be great!

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hello

    Method 1:
Try saving the file in safe mode with network.
    Reference:

Method 2: Temporarily disable the antivirus software and see if that helps.
    Reference:
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
  • Unable to choose the host when you deploy a virtual machine template

    Good Morning-

I feel that the answer to this is with myself; However, I would ask - I try to deploy a virtual machine model for test purposes and I want the virtual machine must be created on a specific host.  When I start the Wizard "deploy the virtual machine of model", I am only able to select the cluster and not a specific host.   Is it possible for me to be able to select the host to which the virtual machine will be deployed without disabling DRS?

Thank you very much in advance for the help.

    Steve

What happens if you right click on the host that you want to deploy on the virtual machine to and select deploy from model - but don't forget if you have a DRS activated with anything other that Manuel DRS will select the host on which the virtual machine starts on and it would not be that you deply to--

  • Unable to connect the host server alone on the bridge or a NAT server network

I have configuered 5 comments OS (windows server 2003) on Vmware workstation (on a single host). Among them three servers are on the network host and two others respectively is on the bridge network and NAT. All the guest OS is on a local network (i.e. team).

I can connect on the bridge or a NAT server to the internet. But I can't ping on the server (on the bridge or NAT) servers (on the single host network). IP address assigned to the host only network is the subnet of class A. And on the bridge or a NAT server is dynamically assigned by the DHCP service.

    Can someone help me?

whether you are able to connect all the virtual machines, you have 2 options:

-connect all your virtual machines on the host network

-If you really need to keep your 2 VMs on the bridge and NAT, you must assign the 2 network cards to those virtual machines. One of the cards connected in Bridged/NAT and the other network card NETWORK connected to host only.

  • Unable to virtualize the host esx Server quadcore AMD Barcelona B3

I have a server with AMD Quad Core CPU Barcelona B3 32 GB of RAM. I installed ESX 4.0 update1 on it successfully. After that, I try to virtualize esx server on this server. I added the new virtual machine with a standard configuration. When I try to boot the cdrom ESX4.0 I get the error message shown in the attachment.

I tried with esx 3.5 and 4. Same mistake.

cpuinfo on the esx host recognizes that UC is B3.

I would be grateful no work around for this work.

    Thanks in advance

It seems that your host is in an EVC cluster configured for Opterons third generation.  VCA usurps the guest not to not CPUID settings for a 'lowest common denominator' CPU, which is, unfortunately, a B2.  Try to remove the EVC cluster host.

  • Unable to connect the host to the OpenVPN server in VM

    Hi VMware wizards!

I have a problem with an installation of OpenVPN that fact in my head.

Basically I have an ESXi with a Windows 2003 VM host. In the virtual Win2k3 machine I use OpenVPN.

I can connect fine VPN and access windows can host one (the VPN server) and the router and other hosts on the local network.

However, I can not connect with the VMIC ESXi host, no matter what I do. I can't ping, nothing.

It's as if the ESXi host will not a package through the virtual switch to another subnet to connect to the management subnet.

The main network is 10.51.35.0/24 and the VPN network is 10.51.36.0/24. The router has a route static send 10.51.36.0 to 10.51.36.1, which is the VPN interface on the Windows 2003 server which belongs to OpenVPN. The ESXi host has a default route to the router, and I can ping Internet from the service console.

Still, all services on the LAN work as I expect of VPN, but I can't use the VMIC to connect to the ESXi host.

Attached is a basic network design showing the configuration. It's pretty simple. I think it's a problem with the vSwitch or ESXi host somehow network config, but I am at a lost to troubleshoot any further... I can not ping the IP address of the VPN client from the service of ESXi console. Whatever it either to the service console simply refuses to go through the VPN, hosted by the virtual Windows machine.

    Ideas? TIA!

    > I install Ubuntu to host the OpenVPN instead of using Windows.

Best solution. Ubuntu, it is also supported in ESX and you will have more control of it

  • Cannot prepare ESXi hosts

    Hey all,.

I get the error attached when trying to prepare my two 5 ESXi hosts to vCloud Director. I did some research on Google and lead only I found that it was possible the prereqs for DRS were dissatisfied, be they (DRS is enabled on both) in my environment. I went to the hosts and has attempted to examine the agent logs, but they aren't there, so it seems that this process does not quite right from the start. Any suggestions?

This command on its own, must return an output XML of VIBs installed on the ESX host.  It is somehow a post-dated check to see if the agent is already there.

If you are in Mode of Support SSH/Local Tech, the output should start something like this:

    # > pwd

    / usr/lib/vmware /.

    #>. / esxcli-software vib.list

    .....

If the command does not work then you will not be able to prepare a host.

Are these images of ESXi embedded by chance?  My lab Kit is ESXi Installable on some HP blades.

If these are incorporated, see if there is an update of flash card and that your partition zero is set on a persistent location:

    http://KB.VMware.com/kb/1033696

Hope it gets you going to... worst case is to recreate the ESXi host for an installation on a single host CD to see if it clears up the problems.

    Best regards
