Unable to run 3D family tree

the program cannot start because d3dx9_43.dll is missing on your computer

Hi Albert,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

From your description, it seems that you can't run 3D family tree because d3dx9_43.dll is missing.

I'll be happy to help you. This problem could be due with corrupt Microsoft DirectX.

I would be grateful if you could answer the following question:

1. did you of recent changes made to your computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

The d3dx9_43.dll file is one of the many files in the DirectX software collection. Because DirectX is used by most windows based advanced graphics programs, d3dx9_43.dll errors usually only appear when using these programs.

I suggest to follow the steps below and we update on the State of the question.

  • Family tree software does not run on Windows 7, Help!

I use a PC running XP for my family tree research and wouldn't buy a laptop to facilitate this, but the software I use--Family Tree Maker 2006 - doesn't have a patch of windows 7 and Family Tree Maker say they have no intention to create one, too much work for them apparently.  I bought and tried the new FTM versions that work on Windows 7, but doesn't like them.  Can I buy a Windows 7 laptop and 'swap' of Windows 7 for XP? Do I have other options?  Do I have to buy a second-hand XP laptop?  I also use a scanner LIDE60 cannon that seems not to have an upgrade to Windows 7. Any advice would be great.

  • If the upgrade to W - 10, MS sez unable to manage the ancestry family tree maker program

I'm mobile, firefox browser, W-7, 64-bit. I & my program needs 2014 ancestry Family Tree Maker that works well on W-7.

I understand windows 10 will not lift on the upgrade program support. Do you rely on the evolution of the support?

If this isn't the case, I can't update level - so how to stop MS harassing me every day on upgrades?

You will need to ask ancestry if they will release a 10 compatible Windows version of your software.  [The operating system will not be changed to suit a piece of software, it works the other way around]

You may find advice on the Web site of ancestry on the methods to re - install their existing software on Windows 10 even though it's not entirely compatible.  But I expect that they already have updated software for you in any case.

  • Incompatible program, I have a problem with my ancestry Family Tree Maker program 2012

I have problems with my ancestry Family Tree Maker 2012 program.  I have contacted ancestry and have tried everything they suggested a fix.  Maybe they thought THAT FTM crashed in windows.  When I click on the FTM icon on my desk a message appears indicating that FTM was badly closed the last time.  He suggests to compact the file, but I can't get open FTM to do this.  The message keeps telling me that Windows has detected a problem and he'll let know me if a solution is found.  When I right click the icon FTM the menu has "inconsistent application" at the top.  When I used the resolution of Windows problems he also indicated an incompatible application.  FTM was working great for me.  Inproper closing was caused by a power failure while I was with FTM.  My computer is a lot of work and is common to the updates being FTM.

    Hello

see if you have a compatible version of it

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/search.aspx?type=software&s=family%20Tree%20Maker

If a program is compatible with vista you can try right click on the setup.exe, and then selecting run as administrator

It is not compatible with vista, you can try running it in a previous operating system mode

This does not work for all programs

  • My Vista SP1 is not compatible with my Family Tree Maker version 16. __

I have the program windows Vista SP1 and my Family Tree Maker version 16 is not compatible with it. What should I do so that I can use this program on this Vista computer? Thank you

    Hi tondsmith,

Family Tree Maker is compatible with Windows XP? (You don't actually say if it worked on Vista but is no longer works since installing SP1). If this worked on XP and then try to install in compatibility mode.

1 / locate the "setup" for Family Tree Maker file and right-click on it.

2 / in the drop-down menu, click Properties.

3 / in the Properties window, click the Compatibility tab.

4 / in the compatibility window you will see a section (top) marked 'compatibility mode '.

5 / in this section, you will see a box with the words "run this program in compatibility mode for" to the right.

6 / click in the box to appear a "tick".

7 / in the dialog box below, you should see "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)."

8 / If you don't see it, click the arrow to the right of the box and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) from the drop-down list.

    9 / Finally, click OK.

10 / your Family Tree Maker software should now begin to install in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

If this does not work (it usually works) then you may need to upgrade to a version of Family Tree maker that supports Windows Vista.

  • Family Tree Maker does not.

While saving the information put in my Family Tree Maker program I get this error message indicating the executable file has stop responding and they will be able to close my program.  Then the program is closed.  I can't do a backup and it is very important to my program.

    Hi karategrandma,

-What version of Family Tree Maker are you using?

-How long have you had this problem?

Only versions of Family Tree Maker listed in the Windows Vista Compatibility Center are compatible with Windows Vista.

    See Windows Vista Compatibility Center

Start your computer in a clean boot state and check if the program runs without any problem.

For instructions, see How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 .

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

  • My Family Tree Maker 6 2005 version will not work on Windows 7

I've recently set up a local network with the computer of my husband that is running Windows XP. There our version 6 Family Tree Maker 2005 installed and wish to access it from my new computer running Windows 7. Family Tree Maker, I installed from the original CD (him even that we used to install it on his machine originally), but when I try to open our family through the network, I get the message "the file you are trying to load is from a newer version of Family Tree Maker and cannot be loaded. To upgrade the call 1-800-548-1806 (a number in the United States). I didn't update anything because the two installations of the program should be the same. Help!

It's just a thought - is - it possible, some time after that you installed version 6 of 2005 on the XP machine that an update of some type has been downloaded or installed to it and so it's actually newer than what's on your disk that you have installed on the Windows 7 computer.  Most of the software indicates the version number detailed in a Help menu and choosing an element of words.  You could try to see if the versions are actually on both the.  As you may know, they have a support site, but it probably won't have a great utility for the 2005 version: http://www.familytreemaker.com/Support

  • To load Family Tree Maker version 16 on laptop with Windows 7 64 bit

I am trying to load Family Tree Maker version 16 on my lap top. I have Windows 7 64 bit and FTM claims, it does not load on 64-bit.  Whjat I do now?

    Hello howstreet,

First, check to see if the program is compatible with the Windows 7 Compatibility Center.
Family Tree Maker is recommended upgrade if your version is earlier than 2008 FTM.

If you have an older application for Windows XP or Vista, which does not work in Windows 7, you can make it work properly by running the program in compatibility mode.
    1. to start, find the application or the shortcut which is the cause of the problem, and then right-click on it and select Properties.
    2. then, select compatibility in the menu tabs at the top of the properties page:
    3. now check the box run this program in compatibility mode "dethrone" and select the operating system you want to emulate. For most applications, this will be Windows XP SP2. Once you are finished, click OK.
    4. When you then run the application, it must run under compatibility using the OS mode you have selected. If it runs properly, try another selection of OS in step 3, and then try again.

Run the installer in compatibility mode:
1 right click on the file icon installation.
    2. click on properties > compatibility.
    3. Select the compatibility mode for Windows XP.
    4. click on OK.
    5. run the installation program.

After installation, run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode by doing the same thing with the installed program.
If this does not help, if you are running Windows 7 Professional or ultimate, you can try the program in XP Mode and Virtual PC. If you use the version of Windows 7 Home Premium, you can not use the XP Mode but can perform a search on the internet for 3rd party virtualization programs. You can find a few free programs that are very good.

    I hope this helps.
