Unable to upgrade Windows 8 to 8.1 Windows

Original title: updated Windows & 8.1 Upgrade Issues

I got a new hard drive installed in the last 72hrs (Windows 8 Pro), but lack of keep the updates of Windows.  I tried the online troubleshooting tool & have tried to install each separately; but nothing works.  When I choose the option "update and stop" my system hangs on the screen "Setup Windows...» ».  Also, I can't switch to Windows 8.1, I had originally.  I get the error message: "sorry, this update is not available for your PC, or you can run an edition of Windows that does not support the update of the store."  Yet, when I try the Wizard Windows 8.1, it confirms that I respect the requirements for the upgrade and head to the store to complete the free update? ...  Any suggestions to SOLVE these problems?

    Hi CanuckWare,

VMware Tools works on Win2K but it requires at least that Service Pack 4 installed in the comments.  If you haven't already done so, try to update your VM on SP4, and then repeat the installation of the VMware Tools.

    See you soon,.

  • XPS 13 (9343) - unable to upgrade to Windows 10 - error 0xC1900101 0 x 30018

I have a brand new 13 XPS, 9343 model with i7 processor and 512 GB SSD. I'm still within the period of 14 days, and I'm now seriously returning. I've never known such a load of nonsense trying to install any other piece of software.

So far, and after many attempts, I was completely unable to upgrade to Windows 10. The first thing I did was to install all the Windows updates available for 8.1 (there were 79 of them), and immediately after that I started the saga to install Win10. Nothing else has been done to the laptop - no questionable software or USB devices (except the USB boot if necessary). It is in a State of cleanliness.

-After the download via Windows Update, the installation procedure is INCREDIBLY slow (for example, it takes 36 HOURS to reach 42% completion - and at this point, it hits the error message). What the heck can he do?

-J' also tried to create a bootable USB drive via the media creation tool. If I boot from the USB key and perform a "clean" installation, it works perfectly: it takes about 8 minutes total (which highlights how ridiculous the 36 hours). However, because it is a clean installation and not an 'upgrade', I find myself with a non-activated version of Windows 10 and I am asked to pay £99.99, I don't intend to do. I paid for the laptop on the understanding, he would get a FREE upgrade to Win10!

-J' also tried using the USB key (but not the start of it) to perform the upgrade in place - this strikes the same mistake as Windows Update (and taking so long)

-J' tried to uninstall all antivirus software, and disable all wireless/bluetooth devices before performing the upgrade - nothing of this aid. Because need me 36 HOURS per attempt, it is really not acceptable to try disabling things randomly in the vain hope that it might work correctly.

When trying to upgrade (i.e. not), I hit an error message "Windows Setup cannot set up Windows on your hardware" or similar. During the recovery after the failure, tool configuration gives the 0xC1900101 error code 0 x 30018 and says it failed in operation 'FIRST_BOOT', the phase SYSPREP. Just make this error message cost me 36 hours of waiting (welcome to the future!), then it would be really helpful if someone could give me a definitive answer on what makes...

    Help, please! Auuughhh

I was looking for an answer to the following problem.   I tried to move from XP to Vista a few months ago, without success.   I thouhgt it might be a compatibility problem with my old ASUS motherboard, so I tried all of the suggestions. down to 2 GB of RAM to 3 GB, to remove all the necessary equipment before the upgrade, disable unnecessary hardware support in the BIOS, etc..

I just bought a new ASUS motherboard with their 890 chipset.   I tried the upgrade again, same thing: the upgrade runs without error, then starts at the restart to complete the installation.   He gets the Green and white Microsoft amimation loading and goes no further.

    Hello

    Thanks for reading my problem.

My son 14 HP stream runs under windows 10.

I know that the disk space is tight, but so far we have managed.

Windows has a new update, they call it the anniversary edition 14943.

He needs 8 GB of space.

I managed to get it to 8.2 GB, but still he would not be executed.

Now, he jumped to 6 GB.

I uninstalled ave run disk clean up millions of times including removal of windows updates day and everything I can.

    I even disabled hibernation,

This update will not move forward

I think that because of the size of the disk, this HP Stream14 is unable to host windows OS updates more.

any suggestion welcome, but please bare in mind, I have studied this topic top to bottom for hours and hours and resulted in nothing.

During win8.1 upgradeing > win10, I have been authorized to use a flash drive to complete the installation process. But with this upgrade, the option is not available.

    Thanks in advance for listening

PS, HP, if you listen, if he refuses to do it, you have lost a customer for life!

Left on last night and the morning, Windows Update had resolved it himself!
In hindsight, that I que j' etais was clear space to run the update tool (downloaded from ms site), Windows Update has probably been working in the background.
