Understand RMAN until the time - why a backup always kept.

Hi all

I take more than one database system and is now looking to its backup policy.

The system performs full backup every Monday at level 0 and level 1 differential accrued daily. As well the full or incremental backup runs at 00:40

The backup retention policy is set to 1 day.

CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO 1 DAY RECOVERY WINDOW;

Every day, there is a call from script "delete_obsolete.sh" who works at full 00:25.

In the script, there are 3 lines that follow below

cross-checking of backup;

delete expired backup noprompt.

remove obsolete until 'sysdate-6 ";

T1) so I think that, with the 'until TIME', he will crush the retention policy and only delete previous backup then ' sysdate - 6 "- right?".

However in RMAN summary list, assuming today ' today is 09/04/2015 (Friday) and the delete_obsolete.sh script is run at 00:25 hours that day.

The script removes actually backs up earlier then sysdate - 6, equivalent to 29 Aug 15 00:25:00

Q3) is 24 August 15 backup not deleted because it is a 0 level and it is necessary to restore the backup of lvl 1 29 August 2015 which still does more then category "August 29, 2015 00:25:00.

  • Restore database HRCS90 question: until THE TIME which was before the RESETLOGS

    People,

    Hello. On December 2, 2013, I backed up my instance of database with RMAN with Oracle Linux 5 HRCS90. the backup of the database to run correctly. 2 files 'full_0doqhbqc_13_1' and 'full_0eoqhce9_14_1' are saved in the /backup_database_instance_HRCS90 directory.

    Because my HRCS90 database has been damaged, I need to restore the database to HRCS90 until the time 02-Dec_13 when it is saved. I have run the commands below:

    RMAN > RUN {SET until TIME ' to_date (February 12, 2013: 00:04:56 ',' DD-MM-YYYY: HH24:MI:SS') ";} RESTORE THE DATABASE ;}

    Its release: complete the restore to February 11, 14.

    SQL > alter drop database datafile offline 121;

    Its release: alter database.

    SQL > alter database open resetlogs;

    Its release: alter database.

    SQL > shutdown immediate;

    SQL > startup;

    Its release: mounted database. Open database.

    So I can execute select * TableName off HRCS90 the database successfully.

    Because the HRCS90 database is corrupted again, I need to restore it again on December 2, 2013. I have run the commands below:

    In the directory/u01/oradata/HRSC90 /:

    [user@linux HRCS90] $ rm *.dbf

    RMAN > Connect target;
    RMAN > RUN {SET until TIME ' to_date (February 12, 2013: 00:04:56 ',' DD-MM-YYYY: HH24:MI:SS') ";} RESTORE THE DATABASE ;}

    Its output:

    RMAN-03002: failure of the set command
    RMAN-20207: until the RECOVERY WINDOW, which was before the RESETLOGS.

    My questions are:

    Is that mean 'UNTIL TIME' before the RESETLOGS? How to solve the problem to restore the HRCS90 database?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello;

    In theory, it should work.

    "DUPLICATE recovers by default until the last archived redo log generated at the time the command was executed, or until one hour set with a SET clause up to THAT."

  • Conversion of the time/date STAMP backup to the DATE format?

    Hello community,

    is it possible, to convert the backup timestamp Format (which is written by RMAN in the columns titled "STAMP" in NUMBER data types) in a regular Format of DateTime?

    I can't find any data about this timeformat only this:

    'specifies that the backup the value timestamp, which is a 4-byte value derived as the number of seconds since a reference period fixed'.

    But what kind of 'fixed reference time' is it?

    I would like to show the output of the view RC_RMAN_OUTPUT of the RMAN catalog with a timestamp of humanreadable for each line of output, but there is only one column of STAMP.

    Thank you

    Tobias

    I found for myself:

    Select

    (to_date('1987-07-04 00:00:00', 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS') + STAMP, 24, 60, 60) log_date,.

  • difference between deletion archive using until the time and completed before

    Hello

    Can someone please let me know what is the difference between the following commands below.

    DELETE ARCHIVELOG UNTIL ' SYSDATE - 1';

    and

    DELETE ARCHIVELOG ALL COMPLETED BEFORE ' SYSDATE - 1';

    Thank you

    The UNTIL clause specifies a Recovery Point.

    The COMPLETED clause indicates the time of creation of the journal.

    So until ' SYSDATE-1' specifies ' all archivelogs needed to recover the database from 24 hours ago. " If it is 09:00 28 - Jun and ArchiveLog Seq # 1001 was created 08:45 27 - Jun and Seq # 1002 was created at 09:10 27 - Jun, then Seq #1002 is required for recovery as at 09:00 27 - Jun.

  • Can I reset the time especially for the backup capsule?

    I have a wi - fi network with my new Xfinity configuration. I have iMac wireless, Air, the two El Capitan (10.11.3) iPad and 2 iPhones (all iOS 9.3.1) and an airport Time Capsule (version 7.6.4). It works in bridge mode and the router Xfinity has 2,4 and 5 capacity (Time Capsule is set to automatic for both). I set up Time Capsule as a wireless base station when I arrived a few years ago, but now, wonder if I should disable and simply use it as backup, time machine fearing that it might create a redundancy that slows the rate of data exchange.

    I think you could ask for if you disable wireless on the Time Capsule and try to use it as a wired device backup only.

    Apple will officially support Time Machine backups when you use the wireless on the Time Capsule to back up your Mac (s).

    So, it is possible that you could turn off the radio on the Time Capsule and backup using the wireless, Xfinity, Apple will not help you if you have a problem with this method.

    It's your call. You're not sure how well... or if... you will be able to back up your Mac (s) using the Xfinity wireless until you actually try. Assuming that it might work OK, you must then decide if you want to spend on any help Apple if you encounter any problems with your backups.

  • How to find the time between two channels of entry in the data acquisition card or pci 6036

    Hello

    I read a lot-related posts on the simultaneous measurement of two input voltage of similar channels in map data acquisition. I know that the best material is "simultaneous measurments of the Series DAQ cards" but I only pci data acquisition card 6036 and I try to understand what is the time between the reading of the two channels . This period is always constant? (must it rely on a voltage (amplitude, frequency, waveform..). I send the sine wave (s) to the two channels and read the values of V, if they read the same value, the difference should always be zero but I get-0,002 to 0.002 Volt difference (I must find a way to convert it in time). A screenshot of my VI is attached. I wonder how I can accurately measure the time delay between the channel.

    I am open to any suggestion, my final goal to read exactly two channels at the same time ((ou connaître le délai exact donc je peux correspondre les données correspondantes étant donné le temps de retard))

    Who knows? Is the higher temperature than usual?
    High temperature would lead to a faster rotation of the cooling fans

    If the vents are blocked, so air can circulate as usual, and this could cause this problem.

  • How can I add the weather icon to the taskbar to be next to the time?

    Try as I might, I can't figure this out.  I would like to add the weather icon to the taskbar.  I want it to be next to the time, so it is always displayed.  How can I do this?  I also want to remove some of the icons that appear in the part of the notification of the taskbar.  Yet once, I can't do it.

    To add items to the taskbar in Windows XP, do one click right, choose Properties, select "Show quick launch", then OK. Now you can add existing shortcuts to the quick launch area (which is pretty much a location allows you to customize your own shortcuts), or you can right click on the quick launch are to open its 'file', then create new shortcuts to here (right click-> new-> shortcut).

    To remove the part of the taskbar notification icons: If you are indeed referring to the notification area near the clock, try right-clicking on the icon and look for an option to delete/remove/disable. Not all icons will have such an option. Additional details on the notification in Windows XP bar can be found here. If you are actually referring to quick launch (next), and then activate it as I've described in the paragraph above, then you should be able with the right button and then remove them.

  • Moving a layer on a folder's force until the bottom of the pile...

    For some reason, Adobe had randomly decided to change this behavior - which is a behavior that I rely on all the time. This has always been a quick way to make sure you want in the background, something in the background. Of course, you can open the folder and drag the layer manually - but when you have a large layer stack this is a pain - and I often find that drag something to where I suppose is the bottom of the stack is actually outside of the folder and tedious it is to get where you want quickly.

    I know it sounds like something small and stupid, but it's something that I've used for years. Anyone feel the same?

    No matter what Adobe fix? Option-make dragging into a folder? Something?

    Jeff

    Well Yes. We certainly struggled with this one; We did it for the right reasons, but we also heard from people who disliked the change, and provided examples of how they have been affected.

    So. Next version:

    (1) no modifier: layer fell on the group will be inserted at the top of the stack of layers within the group.

    (2) SHIFT-modifier: layer fell on the group will be inserted at the bottom of the stack of layers within the group.

    My apologies for the inconvenience.

  • A clip I made the time-remapping on the shortening.

    Okay, so, I'm still very much a first baby and this is the first time I tried to play with time-remapping. First of all, I'm on a PC using first Pro CC 2014.2.

    Basically what I've done is created a cube rotating '3d '. I want to do with it is to rotate quickly, then slow down so that it is possible to read what is written on it. I got successful and ramp at the speed of the way I had hoped.

    However! The clip is really long (I wanted to make sure that I gave myself enough time to play with because I wanted to speed up a bit), then I tried to shorten the clip... but when I do that, anything after the ramp becomes black. The first second or two before the ramp is always visible and spinning, hit the ramp and blackens. I tried just to drag the ends of the clamp as using the razor tool. The razor tool allows me to snap, but when I delete the excess part it always disappears.

    Here is a screenshot just after using the razor tool.

    And it disappears when I delete the excess part.

    I have a feeling that he might have something to do with the first who need to be able to 'see' what's coming or something, and by removing the excess it is unclear what more can be done. But I wanted to ask and see if there was a way to shorten, if not I'll just throw something above the rest of the clip so that you can not see it always go to go back and continue on my way.

    I just had a quick glance and I don't see what is happening. The easiest option is to export the master as an intermediate file without loss and change. When you make the time remapping effect, I always send to AFX and use the efx superior Timewarp, it has its own quirks but it does a better job.
