Universal Installer confusion

Hi all

I'll put up a new Windows 7 computer. I installed VS 2008. I then installed Oracle Express (for testing purposes before they hit the real database). Installed in the C:\oraclexe\app (the default location).

I then install ODT. When the Universal Installer (version 11.2.0.2.0) screen comes up, I click on "Installed products" and he says "There is no installed products" - even after a clean reboot. When I continue, he now wants to install in C:\app\ < username > \product\11.2.0\client_1 ODT files.

Why can I use the Setup program universal installation of a program, and the next time I use it, he knows nothing of the first installation?

In addition, why is each module Oracle wants to install in a totally different place than others? Some want a folder in C:, others in the c:\App\... and still others in the C:\users\ < username > \appdata, etc.. ?

Finally, I really don't want a whole lot of installs that do not know each other. Is there a way to get the Universal Installer to be universal (at least for Oracle products)?

(Yes, I first search for the Universal Installer, but can't find anything about it.)

Thank you

XE uses install installshield based that does not use the Universal Installer. If you run the Universal Installer, it will not know about it

Oracle Universal Installer will offer to create a "new oracle home" (new directory) for products that do not share the common files. This is particularly important for major version - 11.2, 11.1 changes, etc. 10.2.

To add to the complexity, there is also what is called a plant 'XCOPY' (see the download page ODAC) which allows developers to include ODP.NET in their own facility, once again this will not recognized the Universal Installer. But it's very powerful for deployment time scenarios.

  • How do you do manually what does Oracle Universal Installer

The Citrix team never wants to run Oracle Universal Installer so need to know how to install ODP.NET 11.2.0.3.60 on a machine that can run the .NET applications.

Currently get connection cannot be opened - the initializer for type for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection' threw an exception.

I manually ran the 64-bit version of xCopy and then I manually ran OraProvCfg action:gac c:\xxx\Oracle.DataAccess.dll and OraProvCfg / action: c:\xxx\Oracle.DataAccess.dll config, but still gives error.

Can U tell me exactly what I should do to get the version of work w / VS?

I ran the YES of this version and works fine.

I uninstall the program YES and then tried to do manually what I thought the program YES does and does not work.

    Need help,

    Thank you

I advise to use XCopy ODAC installation ODP.NET. All the manual configuration steps are arranged in installation batch files that come with the download of XCopy.

  • Oracle Universal Installer error

    Hi all

I managed to install SQL Server 2008 (64-bit) on my work server and created an Oracle in Database Management Studio Server and connected scripts it successfully. However, at the time where I had a 32-bit Client Oracle moment and trying to connect to Oracle through offers of I got an error of BadImageFormatException. I then realized that I needed a 64-bit client for my 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2.

Now, I downloaded the 64-bit client on my drive local and unzipped on the C drive of the server. However, when I click to start YES, I just get a message saying "preparing to launch Oracle Universal Installer...." »

But nothing happens. Close the window MS-DOS, and that's all. Nothing. I thought that the file is a not unzip correctly so I unzipped a 32-bit client on the server and its momentum very well!

Any ideas? Ideally, I want to just get Reporting SERVICES on Windows Server 64-bit, but I think without Oracle 64-bit Client this will prove fruitless.

    Thank you

    Brian

Which version of the client you are trying to install? I'd go with 11.2.0.2 to exclude known issues with the YES program.

11202 is available on MOS. If you have no Oracle Support for access to MOS, 11201 is available in the section downloads on OTN.

  • 10g Universal Installer kernel errors when installing on Solaris 5.10

    Hi all

I tried to install Oracle 10 g on a Solaris 5.10 (32-bit), in accordance with the official Oracle Documentation for a few days now. It seems that the Universal Installer fails it's pre-installation steps and throws error in the following kernel parameters:

    Audit of 4294967295 = shmsys:shminfo_shmmax; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the shmsys:shminfo_shmmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the semsys:seminfo_semmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the semsys:seminfo_semmsl = 256; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
Full version. The result of this review is: failure of < < < <

I followed the Oracle Documentation that says to change the kernel settings using control resources center. To do this, I already have a project 'oracle' user 'oracle' was awarded to:

Oracle of $ id - ap
    uid = 100 (Oracle) gid = 100 (oinstall) groups = 100 (oinstall), 101 (dba) projid = 100 (oracle)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are snapshots of the prctl command on the current state of the kernel parameters:

    For the verification of shmsys:shminfo_shmmax = 4294967295; no entry found. Failure of < < < <

    $ prctl - n Project.Max - shm-memory - i project oracle
    project: 100: oracle
NAME PRIVILEGE VALUE FLAG ACTION BENEFICIARY
    Project.Max - shm-memory
    the privilege 254MB - deny-
    system 16.0EB max deny-

The recommended Oracle value is 4 GB - I expect check Universal Installer fail to do this, so I change the setting using the installation of control of resources by logging in as root in a new terminal and maintain an oracle session active.

    # prctl - n v Project.Max - shm-memory - 4 GB - r-i oracle project

I see that the parameter has been set correctly when I do:

    $ prctl - n Project.Max - shm-memory - i project oracle
    project: 100: oracle
NAME PRIVILEGE VALUE FLAG ACTION BENEFICIARY
    Project.Max - shm-memory
    4.00 GB privilege - deny-
    system 16.0EB max deny-

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    For the verification of semsys:seminfo_semmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <

    $ prctl - n Project.Max - sem - IDS - i project oracle
    project: 100: oracle
NAME PRIVILEGE VALUE FLAG ACTION BENEFICIARY
    Project.Max - sem - IDS
    privileged 128 - deny -.
system of 16.8 M max deny-

The recommended Oracle value is 100 - I don't expect this setting Universal Installer verification failed

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    For the verification of shmsys:shminfo_shmmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <

    $ prctl - n Project.Max - shm - IDS - i project oracle
    project: 100: oracle
NAME PRIVILEGE VALUE FLAG ACTION BENEFICIARY
    Project.Max - shm - IDS
    privileged 128 - deny -.
system of 16.8 M max deny-

The recommended Oracle value is 100 - I don't expect this setting Universal Installer verification failed

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also when I try to run the command:
    $ prctl - n Project.Max - sem-nsems - i project oracle

    I get:
prctl: unable to get control of the resources for Project.Max - sem-nsems: invalid argument

Oracle recommends that I have to set a value of 256.

After the implementation of all this, I still get the following errors of the Universal Installer:

    Audit of 4294967295 = shmsys:shminfo_shmmax; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the shmsys:shminfo_shmmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the semsys:seminfo_semmni = 100; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
    Verification of the semsys:seminfo_semmsl = 256; no entry found. Failure of < < < <
Full version. The result of this review is: failure of < < < <

Now, when I change the kernel settings by editing the file/etc/System without even a reboot that I can see all my nucleus Universal Installer checks as adopted.

Not sure if I'm missing a crucial step when configuring the kernel parameter using the installation of control of resources?

    ~ Somjit

This is a bug in YES.
YES looking for/etc/System to check the setting of the parameters of the kernel, but this file is not used (by default) in Solaris 10
He must check the adjustment of the parameters of the kernel using the prctl.

  • PS installation confusion

    Hello

I installed PS Financials 9.1 on the OEL5.5 servers. I have two separate computers for the database and the application server. I got to the part of the creation of the PeopleSoft database (I hope not to miss something). This, however, is where I get confused. I'm supposed to use the PeopleSoft database Configuration utility in PS_HOME, but if I understand correctly, it must be run on the database server? What happens if the PS_HOME and the database are on two separate computers?

When you run the utility I'm invited to paths as ORACLE_HOME - no problem, since I can point to the customer of db AppServer House and bin.
Then he asks the oracle initialization files - here, I am confused, there is no side init file AppServer. Am I supposed to just copy the files from my application server PS_HOME to the database machine and run it from there?

Can someone shed some light for the creation of the whole database?

    Thank you
    Honza

PS a little hiking, PeopelSoft is supposed to be a n-tier architecture, then why the documentation basically assume everything is installed on the same computer? There is a similar problem with the installation of the workstation to a unix server, the files do not simply exist lol.

    Edit:
I would add to that, the database Configuration utility needs of psconfig.sh before the race, leading me to believe it must be run on the application server

If you plan to use the database wizard configuration, you do not have the choice, you need to install Peopletools and Application on the database server (even if you plan to use another physical server for host appserver). It is one of the biggest problem within the DBWizard. A few months ago, I wrote an article on this subject: http://gasparotto.blogspot.com/2009/12/db-wizard-850-for-oracle-on-linux.html
In your case, which had much better to create the database manually, I mean install Peopletools/app/Oracle client on your application server, install the software on your server of db Oracle server, and then copy the necessary scripts of the first on the second server and run them from there.

  • Oracle Universal Installer allows you to install two products together as a stack?

    Hello.

I'm trying to find a way to combine the facilities of Oracle 11 g and Oracle Weblogic Server using YES. I managed to install both products separately using the silent installation mode in Linux x86_64.

But my current condition is to perform the installation of the two products together in a stack using YES. Basically I want an installer of preference YES, that can be used for installation independent platform for several products.

Is it possible to do this with YES? Otherwise someone might suggest would be appreciated.

  • PSE 8 Mac Installation Confusion

Supposedly, if we jump into the disc of PSE 8 we idiotproof instructions to follow instructions.  However, we have an iMac that has only a few months, so it should work correctly with PSE 8.  When we jumped in the disc, nothing happened.  There is a drive on the screen icon, but no window doesn't open, no installation instructions came, not nothing.  By clicking on the icon of the disk would open a window.  The readme it says follow the instructions that came after inserting the disc, and since no instructions came, it was no help.  The only thing that seems to work is that I tried dragging the folder in the applications folder.  Then I clicked on PSE 8 in the applications folder and then ran a setup routine.  It seems to have installed, even if I have no idea if it installed correctly.  We do not have the Mac a long time ago, and I haven't used a Mac since system 7 has been around, so the Leopard/Snow Leopard installation routine is different and somewhat familiar, but I saw enough to know that no other application does that we have installed as PSE 8 did.  Have we done something wrong, or is this really how PSE 8 installs?

No, which won't change anything. The problem is that now you also setup in your applications folder. If you can figure out who he is (he should not be in the PSE application itself), then just trash that.

Or are you saying that despite the installation, PSE does not work?

You will never see a program called camera raw. You call from bridge or PSE if you wish.

  • Help with the Universal Installer - installation of database for ODBC gateway

    Hi experts,

I'm trying to install the database to ODBC bridge according to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/gateways.111/b31043/installodbc.htm#BHCCCJJJ

My problem is that the installation program seems trying to install another data base oracle from scratch and I don't get the options above documentation suggests.

This is a Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition 11.1.0.7.0 server is a production system, so I can't screw it up :-)

I'm probably doing something stupid - I'm a developer and not really a DBA.

Thanks for your suggestions that you could help me with.

Are you sure that you downloaded the correct software? From the download page:

    Oracle Database gateways 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0)
    for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
    win32_11gR1_gateways.zip (479,045,812 bytes)

But - there should be no need to install DG4ODBC, he is already part of the installation of the database server. At least this is the case for Enterprise Edition, I'm not sure about Standard Edition. In a simply command window issue
"dg4odbc", if you see something like the following, you already have the ODBC gateway:

    Oracle Corporation - Tuesday 20 April 2010 21:59:20.000

11.2.0.1.0 - Production built with heterogeneous Agent release
    Gateway for ODBC Oracle database

  • installation confusion 6224

I'm trying to configure a 6224.  I have reset to factory settings so much times again now and I am very frustrated.  This is my first time up to a layer 3 switch setting.  My config running can be started on easy enough if someone could possibly help me out here.

I have a CentOS box as a router IPTables which is running out and realized that it was better for me to go to a layer 3 switch (6224 was recommended) since I can't afford a standalone router device.  I was able to take place a 6224 news at an incredible price.

(The WAN IP addresses below have been changed for this example)

My upstream provider says my router must be IP address 22.104.86.50/30 (22.104.86.49 bridge).  I have a 22.100.100.0/24 class C that my servers will need and want to run a LAN using 10.0.0.0/8

I wanted to g1 - g12 as ports WAN my C class would be to connect (using 22.100.100.1/24 as the gateway to the 6224)

I tried g13-g23(or g24 if I don't need one specifically for my 22.104.86.50/30 address) as my LAN addresses

LAN addresses, of course, do NOT need WAN access because they are only for internal use between servers.

I had my VLAN 1 put in place with the 22.104.86.50/30, 22.100.100.0/24 VLAN 10 and VLAN 20 with 10.0.0.0/8.  I "had" VLAN 1 assigned to g24 and plugged my cable WAN it.  I can access the GUI from a remote IP address in this way.

I got 10 VLAN configuration with 22.100.100.1 as the IP address and can access the GUI if I plug into ports g1 - g12 to this address.

I had 20 VLAN configuration with 10.0.0.1/8 and can access the GUI if I plug into ports g13 - g23 at this address.  Yes, I manually configure my laptop address to be in these with those of the VLAN IP as gateway.

The problem is with this configuration, VLAN 10 can't get out to the internet.  VLAN 20 isn't, but I don't want it to be able to.

Any one any help would be greatly appreciated as I worked on it for 10 hours now with no luck in getting it to access the internet.  I have google so many times I should go stock inside out.

    Thank you in advance,

    Steve

I would use the diagram above as reference to describe how you define your internet connection upstream connection.

Basically, you need to set up a VIRTUAL LAN between the PowerConnect 6224 switch and your upstream provider.  In this scenario 1 switch would be the 6224 and switch 2 is the upstream provider.

On the 6224, you create a VLAN 100 (or whatever the ID # you choose).  Then set the ip address to this VLAN to 22.104.86.50/30.  Then go into the physical interface or a DELAY.  It must be a single connection or a DELAY (multiple physical connections working as a virtual port channel).  The interface would be created as switchport mode access for 100 of VLAN.

    Example:

    Console > activate

    Console # config

Console (config) # ip Routing (active routing in the world)

    Console (config) # vlan database

    VLAN console(config-VLAN) # 100

    output console(config-VLAN) #.

Console (config) # interface vlan 100

    ip address console # 22.104.86.50 255.255.255.252

Console # routing (active routing for the VLAN specific)

    output console #.

Console (config) # interface ethernet 1/g1

    access mode console (config-if-1/g-10) #switchport

    Console (config-if-1/g10) #switchport access vlan 100

Then you would look to create a VLAN for your other local networks in a similar way. Definition of VLANS and ip address for the VLAN.  Then affecting all physical ports in the access mode for this VLAN.  Then some devices end of PC that are plug that coelio VLAN would have an ip address in this range of network and a gateway IP address you set for the VLAN itself.

I hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions

  • Windows 7 with 11g ODBC install confusion...

    Hi all

OK, I'm just a little confused. All I have to do is get ODBC running under Windows 7. I thought it would be easy, but apparently not. I am trying to install Oracle 11 g 64 bit on a new Windows 7 computer. It is to set up a system of 'typical' end user and is NOT for development.

First of all, I went to the download page of 11g (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win64soft-094461.html) and downloaded the client software (win64_11gR2_client.zip). I unpacked and installed. I was able to run NetAdmin and edit the TNSNAMES.ora file. When I ran the MS ODBC Manager - however, there is no Oracle driver options. I tried with the InstantClient Runtime options and.

So I thought that I had missed something. I ran uninstall it and then did a system restore. I read the docs in the installation and here on the forum and I saw references to the instant client installs.

He told me to download instant instant basis and ODBC Client Packs on the Oracle Technology Network Instant Client page, I went to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/winx64soft-089540.html and downloaded the instant client (instantclient-basic-win-x86-64-11.2.0.1.0.zip) and (instantclient-odbc-win-x86-64-11.2.0.1.0.zip) ODBC module

I unzipped the base first customer by the odbc documentation. No docs, just a readme with no details. And nothing named install. I saw two (adrci.exe and genezi.exe) .exe files, but netiher is a clear installation package. There wasn't a .msi package. So, by reading the documentation, I tried to determine if "deployed" meant to unpacked or installed. So I unzipped the instant ODBC files in the instantclient_11_2 folder and run the ODBC_install. There was no reference to NETADMIN in the startfolder, but there was a shortcut ODBC - that I fell. He showed the ODBC drivers, but when I'm on the name of the TNS Service and clicked on the 'down' arrow, were all that I saw what seemed like garbage entries. There was no TNSNAMES.ora file is located.

OK, so now I reinstalled the initial download and then tried to add the ODBC stuff... No luck.
I ran the Universal Installer and tried to get it to load the ODBC stuff - but there is no .xml file (which is what he apparently wants) to load. And when I tried to install ODBC moment, the Universal Installer doesn't seem still to see ODBC stuff...

I install the first and be able to modify the TNSNAMES. ORA. Or install the second and see an ODBC driver - but not set up because I can't refer to a TNSNAMES.ora file. Or do the two and just frustrated because the two install IGNORES the other...

Oh, if I run the NetAdmin and create an entry in TNSNAMES file - when I test it, it can connect to the server. But I can't get the ODBC Oracle driver to find this file...

IAC, do I need to download (just the oracle 11g minimum) to win an end user 7 x 64 computer so that I can configure TNSNAMES.ora settings and configure the ODBC connection?

In any case, I'm sure there is an easy answer to this. And I'd be happy to mark your reply as an answer so that you get the credit you deserve for helping me.

And it would be even nicer if we press a little harder on ODBC in the docs that come with both the standard client and installs the instant client.

    Thank you

    Hello

The solution to almost "I do not see the odbc driver in the odbc administrator" always comes down to either
    (a) the driver is not installed, install the odbc driver.
    or
    (b) ensure that you are looking in the right odbc (32 bit vs 64 bit) admin.
There are other cases... install has not happened as administrator, so yes could not update registry, theres a "@" in the list of drivers, etc., but those who are nowhere near as common.
It seems that if you're looking in the right admin, but has not installed the driver.

The solution to the tnsnames question is to
    (a) create the tnsnames in the House used in the directory & % OH%\network\admin. If the file does not exist, create it. If the directory does not exist, create it. It is "well-known" location, the customer will check automatically.
    Or
    (b) create an TNS_ADMIN environment variable that points to the folder you want to .ora files (that is to say, tnsnames, sqlnet, etc.) to get picked up from.

    See you soon,.

    Hello

I try to install database utilities (SQL Loader) that the InstantClient don't have SQL loader. We need for Hyperion FDM.

According to Hyperion, we need to install it in the same location of origin. When I chose the original location, I get error below. No idea how to install it on the same Oracle home location.
