Unknown hardware

I have a T60, model 1952-CTO, I work for a friend.

The history of computing: belonged to a member of the family company has worked for. The company has updated / update of many laptops. The employee using the old coin had the opportunity to buy it. Before the machine could go home, the it Department wiped the HD and installed only the operating system. In this case, windows XP pro.

The Unit came with no driver disk with the exception of a finger scanner installation disc.

It also has a docking station. The computer is placed on the docking station, and a key is required to remove it once it is in place. I did not write the model number of the dock down while I hope that the description is sufficient for an experienced member to know what it is.

I have the BONE pretty well all together towards the top with the exception of a single device. Windows calls it a "mini map" when the new hardware wizard detects it at startup. I have no idea what this could be. Windows will not install the drivers for it.

There is also no documentation with the device. However, I believe it has bluetooth, and if the battery is removed, exposing a simm card, so he probably has 3g (or something). I see not all bluetooth or 3g devices in Device Manager

Other than that, everything seems to work including wireless networking.

Can someone tell me what could be this unknown device "mini card"? I'd rather not guess because I have no media recovery in case something really goes wrong.

I have

This means it has the bluetooth and the WWAN.

Keyboard strokes are nothing. Help! Katydidtoo

    Hi Katydidtoo,

    1. do you have the Windows XP installation CD?

    Method 1

It is possible that the hard disk has errors that need to be repaired by using the Windows XP CD.

If you have the Windows XP CD then I suggest that you run chkdsk on the computer to analyze and repair corrupt errors on the hard drive.

CHKDSK is available in the Windows Recovery Console and can be a very valuable tool in the treatment of a system that will not start correctly. The use of the Recovery Console is discussed elsewhere, but note that many systems have been rescued by the command chkdsk C: /R Recovery Console there are only two: / p: performs a comprehensive check of the drive and corrects any errors. Does not check if bad sectors / a: locates bad sectors and recovers readable information

  • OptiPlex 755: Components of unknown hardware in Windows 7

    Hello

I ve installed Windows 7 Professional 32 bit in my Optiplex 755. Device Manager displays now two unknown components. I ve installed the actually INF-update of Intel for Windows 7, but still the same components unknown. All additional material has been recognized with success.

Someone knows what I need drivers?

    Thank you very much.

    Kind regards
    schluri

I'm not going to swear that it will work for you, but I got the same features appear in my test of Windows 7 install for our enterprise network, in English only. One thing I've done is to check the BIOS updated and as usual there was a new available, not that it is important for the problem that you have, but you can also do the update as go you if you do not, A15, incidentally, you can thus apply all the recommended updates Dell.

The items listed as having no no drivers can be fixed with the AMT HECI and AMT-GROUND-LMS upgrades available from dell computer Optiplex 755 downloads. Extract the download to the default directory C:\Dell\Drivers and make a note on which one you do, personally I rename the folder of extraction so I know not what is in the directory if I need it later, for example C:\Dell\Drivers\AMT-HECI-R194010\ and C:\Dell\Drivers\AMT-SOL-LMS-R194011. They will not install automatically and if they act like they will just cancel out of it because they fail after installing anyway with a license purchase requirement most of the people do not have.

Manually, you can point to them from Device Manager by clicking devices and by using the update driver option and navigate to the folder where you extracted the drivers. If you happen to choose the right folder, it tells you that the driver cannot be updated so just finishing that and go through the option to update again to take the next case, do the same procedure for updating the other driver and life should be good.

I'm going from memory here so don't hold me to it, but I think that the PCI device is the AMT HECI and the standard equipment is the LMS-SOIL-AMT. If not then you have a chance of 50 / 50 to get it right by guessing and nothing to lose if you're wrong, as I said just take the other file, next time.

That fixed it for me, hope it helps you as well.

    Hello

I just bought a HP Envy 17 - j020us today. It came stock with Windows 8 is installed and I have, for my own reasons, decided to install Windows 7 above. Long story short, the installation has worked, for the most part. The only problem was that I was missing some drivers. • Satellite P20-404: WLAN is not working

I wanted to use the adapter wireless network for the first time after a defekt disc and a reinstall. It worked before, but I did not reinstall WLAN right here. Now I don't know how to install it. There is no entry in the network connections that could be my wireless network adapter.

There should be a built-in Atheros adapter.
    I activated the WLAN-> no light beside the symbol WLAN;
I FnF8 Switched-> nothing happens, I don't see any unknown hardware in the hardware list.

Are there opportunities that I don't have a hardware problem?

    Hello

Are you sure that the WLan worked, before your changed the HARD drive and installed the operating system again?
I found information that the WLan is optional on Satellite P20-404.
So I think that some units have been delivered with the wireless network card and others did not.

It of very strange that the WLan card is not recognized in Device Manager. Usually, if the WLan driver is not installed on the operating system for the wireless network card must be shown as an unknown device.

I think in your case it s something wrong with the wireless network card or WLan card is not installed.

  • Satellite M30: Unknow Hard Error - could this be a problem of hard drive?

I got my Satellite M30 for 2 years now and it never gave me any problems, until a few weeks ago. The problem started shortly after I put Windows to SP2, when I played a game it would stick for a minute or two, and then continue on as usual, the problem slowly got worse and started blue screening with "Unknown hard error" and sometimes strange balloon in the lower right corner saying unknown hardware error and then freeze it. It also took a long time to start and generally do nothing.

Assumed it was a problem when I've upgraded to SP2, so I decided to reinstall Windows and start over again, update the BIOS while I was home.

Once this is done it seemed fine for an hour or two, but then tried to install a game and of course, the good old blue screen appears and the whole problem starts again.

I took it to a repair shop and explain the problem and I had re-installed Windows nothing helped, and I suspected that it may be a hardware failure, I left it with them, and 2 days later I get a call saying its all fixed and ready to be picked up, I asked what was wrong with it and they said that they re-installed Windows and sound now works fine (i.e. what I their) I said, I had made and n t worked!). I picked up (and got charged £40 to have done what I had already done). I got it home and everything seemed ok... for a few hours, then blue screens seemed to tell me any physical dumping of beginning and the usual stuff.

I think it might be a drive problem hard, like when I tried to install a game on it at night last light CD and HARD flash drive, one for about 15 seconds, then the other for a short time, data copied from one to the other, but then the HARD drive light stayed on, and I could hear the HARD disk as if it were sticky , after about a minute of this blue and close short-listed and took some time to turn back. If I leave a couple of hours and it starts fine until the next time.

So, after my long description on my problem, I have 2 questions,

    1. could I be right in thinking that these problems are associated with hard drive?
    2. If I'm right, is easy to replace on the M30 HARD drive and where I would buy a new?

Thanks for your time and help,

    Kenny.

    Hello

The blue screen appears only if you play games?

But I agree with you. In my opinion, there would really be a hardware malfunction.
The question is - it s a HARD drive or something different?
Hmmm. I think that the problem is not related to the disc HARD but maybe overheating?
According to the publication, sometimes when you play games. The game is a high performance application. All devices running with maximum performance and produce heat.

I m not 100% sure, but maybe the high temperature has a bad influence on the system and therefore the BSOD happens.
You suggested that the laptop run properly for about 2 years. Maybe fans can cool properly because of the dust and debris. Two years is a long time if you have not cleaned the cooling modules and fans.

  • How to get USB ports work on Portege M400?

I'm not able to get the memory card flash, cameras and iPods recognized when plugged into the USB port of my M400.

I've updated all windows software and all the drivers that I can find.

When a device is plugged in the found new hardware dialog box sometimes - but of course a driver is never found.

I explored the forum extensively and tried to remove the USB driver in the hope that to restart the drivers would be reinstall correctly - they don't have - in fact the system doesn't seem to be able to find the USB driver at all and now I get a lot of error messages and unknown hardware tries to install.

I have a backup from 1 day - an image made using real image Neil - trying to restore what I ought to be able to boot from the CD ROM - this certainly does not happen with my current set up - how do I do - no doubt, I have to change something in the BIOS - how to access the BIOS - the manual is particularly short info here.

So how do the two fundamental problems - I get the USB ports to work - it is certainly a problem with the computer everything works fine when I try these devices on other computers.

And how the CD ROM is configured to boot from a bootable CD?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions - this has been a persistent problem that is starting to become quite frustrating.

    Ian

    Hello

First of all this isn't a hardware problem, but simply the software problem.
I see that you have tried to install different external USB devices. Most of these devices require special software which is always supplied with the product.

I put t know what you have installed and removed from the system, but it looks like you've ruined the whole OS.
In this case I recommend installing the OS from the recovery CD.

To boot from the CD, you must insert the CD in the CD/DVD drive and press the F12 key immediately after switching on the laptop. This procedure should allow the start menu, from which you can choose the right boot device (ODD).

Notes; USB drivers are provided by the Windows operating system.

In addition if you want to use your iPod, you need to install iTunes software! Without this software, the iPod does not work!

    Good bye

  • CAMERA BUGS AND ISSUES - please report them in this thread. REPORTS ONLY PLEASE.

If you have had an accident unexplained camera or a bug please report it here in this one single thread. By reporting any camera hangs in one place and not in separate threads, as well as information on the configuration of the camera and aboved we hopefull can achieve several things:

1: know just how big or small the problems really are. These incidents isolated or is there a bigger problem. There are thousands of F5 Networks and F55 in operation day after day. It is not surprising to find the weird device with a previously unknown hardware or a software problem, but if there are several examples of the same show, then this may indicate a problem of firmware. By collationg, all unexplained of bug reports in one place that we can find areas of interest.

2: by including a detailed report of what is past and what accessories were attached to the time where we can look for common factors that can cause problems.

3: Sony only needs to check a thread to see what is happening, they do not need to browse through pages and pages of stuff.

ONLY after a bug/crash report. NO feature requests or ' I wish that... ". "Lets keep the clutter of wire free to make it easier to see any real operational concerns. I suggest a single page that can be updated with workarounds or know bugs that users should be aware of. Please do not discuss your problems or other problems on this thread. That's just pointing that out. If you want to discuss a topic report it here first, and then open a new thread on this specific issue.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN A BUG REPORT:

    Please provide the following information:

Version type and the firmware of the camera. Version of the firmware so attached R5.

Attached Aboved, include R5, adapters battery or power supply, viewfinders, monitors connected directly to the camera.

Type of battery and the brand, the battery charge State if know.

The type of SxS card, preferably the part number on the back of the card for example 'SBP - 64.

The record format and pace. All special modes such as slow shutter or S & Q.

If you use a scene or non-standard file defining let us know.

What you were doing when the bug appeared and what has happened as well.

Everything you think might have contributed to the bug or what you're doing to get around.

Moderators: I think it must be done in a sticky?

As reported in another thread: If you upgrade the firmware and then load a FILE ALL created when the appliance has been set at 25 p/50 p, then the camera crashes while recording. For now, I would recommend creating a FILE all charges or the SCENE FILE for each version of firmware.
