Unknown home network access point that I don't create

I recently updated my modem on a new one that has a built-in wireless router (I have cable internet) I don't know if that has anything to do with this problem, but now when I open "Network and sharing Center", I noticed that my home network name was no longer "an Internet 3" but something named "RubyCheetah" - a name * I * certainly didn't put in there!  I wonder now if I joined in some kind of home network of someone by mistake and I'm now internet access through its network. I live in an apartment building where I think there are a LOT of wireless spots. Would this be possible? Earlier, I was getting very sporadic bouts with pages not loading or taking always into the for do.

What I want to do is to delete this "RubyCheetah" completely and start again with another, as if I was installing Windows for the first time and create a home network. How can I do this?  Help, please?

Running Windows 7 64 bit

Hi Stewart,

If you want to remove a connection, just go in your nail connections network the connection in question and press on delete. You will be prompted to confirm, do it.

Then click on "set up a new connection" follow-up steps.

Now, if it does not find your connection, it is a different matter.

If this happens, connect the router via an Ethernet cable and see if you can connect

Let us know what happens

B Eddie

    Hi WeDontByte,

You can store passwords in Windows that you use to connect to Internet sites or networks. In this way, you don't have to type your password because Windows logs you automatically whenever you return to this place.

    1. open user accounts by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click user accounts and family safety (or by clicking on user accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking user accounts.
    2. in the left pane, click manage your network passwords.
    3. click on Add.
    4. in the journal on the box, type the name of the computer on the network or the URL of the Web site that you want to access.
    5. in the user name and password areas, type the user name and password that you use for this computer or a Web site, and then click OK.

  • Windows Home network access

I installed Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 on my desktop. Works very well. I can access from http://127.0.0.1:8080 / apex.

Is there a way I can access it through apex of the browser on that machine to other machines on my home network? Is it possible that I can refer to the local IP address in the URL from another machine and access the pages of the Apex?

127.0.0.1 is the address of 'closure '.  Consider "internal IP address.

So that computer B must Access a computer, you must use the external address of the computer.

For home networks, this is usually 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x

You will need to track down what's the IP address of your server to the APEX.

Then, you can use it (until the DHCP renew it at a different IP address)

I'm going to research on the line of address with glasses... Notepad JavaScript rises, I wind attaching it before I know it, so I must close and not save JavaScript notebook until I can return to the address line and type in my search.

  • Why a network access point disappears suddenly?

Original title: why a HOTSPOT suddenly disappears?

A free hotspot that serves a large part of midtown that never missing at all, has suddenly started to become unavailable for two, three or even one week and then it is back once again.  The absences that never happened for more than two years for MAINTENANCE, or would it be a LOB - even a truck or a bus - blocking the direct transmission of signal path?  Please note that the problem is not the computer, because other computers have the same results (and no router is involved at the end of the receipt).,.

Thank you so much in advance.

    Hello

You need to ask the people who feed the Hotspot why your free Service is not constant.

Looks like that you could have a site in Flash that is not in the Whitelist of websites in Flash and tested Microsoft. Web sites must apply, as explained on this link (which also explains why there is a white list):

    Hello

Gpedit.msc is not available in Windows 7 Home premium.

It is available in the Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7 Enterprise.

If you want to disable caching of thumbnails, you can access the registry editor and go to changing the location according to the value

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\DisableThumbnailCache

Set it to 1 to disable the cache

To do: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • My files shared between 2 XP Pro systems are more accessible between machines on my home network

Years I've been to access shared folders and disk drives (in My Network Places) from my laptop (when I'm home) to my home system which is basically just a box Windows XP Pro with a bunch of big hard drives in it.  Now, after having been away for a few weeks, I'm more able to access the shared folders and drives.  I went into MMC and made sure my security settings were extracted 'classic', made sure that auditors invited on both machines have been put to 'on', ensures that stocks are good, etc..   I just get a popup when trying to access the share (which appears in my network places) saying that I don't have permission to access the network resource.

This problem may have been exacerbated by the fact that I had a disk crash then outside and he did a restore of a backup (5 weeks) on the new disk drive.    But everything else seems to work very well, and this environment, which was the source of the backup image could access actions flawless.  Note that the use of the accounts that I have installed on both machines are the same account name, administrator privileges and password.   Note that I cannot access Windows 2000 environments with shared folders (3 other computers in the House) no problem. It is only the XP environment I can't get access to work.

I use the settings of workgroup (no domain).  Everything here is local to the House, through a LinkSys Router.  Internet is through the router using a DSL modem.   I run Kaspersky security/AV.  Notice when I disable the Kaspersky, I still can not access the shared devices.

I'm at the end of my rope.    Can anyone help?

OK, good news and some not very good news.

I tried to restart the service, the drive mapping, etc. - nothing has worked.  However - the error that I got when I tried to map a drive was not "enough storage server.  I looked, and sure enough found some entries for 2011 event IDS in the event viewer.  Searched for and found a KB Microsoft Q17707 article (or 17708?) who described it as a problem caused by Symantec NAV (no surprises).   In addition to research, I found the registry key that irpstacksize is eliminated!   I've recreated the DWORD entry in the registry with the default value of 15, and the problem persisted.  Then I discovered someone on some forum that said increase until she started working, so I put up (50 decimals) and voila!  The problem is gone and I can now access the shared drives on the computer from the computer laptop, apparently reliable.   (although this forum said that the problem seems to come and go on some machines, related to the use of major external USB drives. Sounds reasonable, because recently I started using some USB drives of 1 TB for backup images external on the laptop and the service).

So... for the moment, the problem seems to have disappeared.  This forum said, it's some kind of bug, Microsoft, and Symantec pointing the finger at the other as the cause and who is responsible to fix it (nothing new there), so I expect to arise again some time in the future, very probably at a monumentally inopportune moment.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Need to improve the wireless home network

I am trying to improve the coverage of my home network.

I have Fios, and with existing wireless features, there are several dead and weak coverage areas in my house.  This is due to a combination of the place where my router's (limited by the power input) and the confuration from home.

I have CAT - 5 running for most of the rooms, so adding wired devices is not a problem.  I went out and picked up an EA4500 router, and my plan was to convert my Fios router a bridge and then use the EA4500 as the DHCP server.  However, even with this router, my coverage is not improved.  My preferred solution to get 1 or 2 additional access points that I can plug into my cable system, however, I would like to have a common SSID for the network.

    Is a home-based solution available?

It would be probably better get these access points that you plan to learn to eliminate these "notspots".

as suggested previously, you can get a WAP610N or one of the new series of EA (set to bridge mode) router.

  • Mobile data does not and the name of the Access Point settings are not available

I don't have a mobile data, not even the small up and down arrows or letters beside the sims signal bars appear.

I tried all the troubleshooting settings and different type of network, the airplane mode is off, mobile data are no limit, no power save modes are on. Phone is dual sim so I tried on the two sims and tried to disable the other sim and changing the sim slots, both sims are loaded with a credit of data that works in other android devices. WiFi works fine. Factory reset does not help.

There is that one thing that I can't not try troubleshooting. When I select settings > more > mobile networks > access point names, it says

"Access Point name settings are not available for this user.

Maybe if I could put APN I could get mobile data. How can I do or how I can try to get mobile data to work?

Phone's Xperia M4 Aqua E2363 with build 26.1.B.2.102 thanks if you can help

This text is a bit misleading, which is something that I have forwarded internally as your comments.

If you have no NPP stored the phone displays the text "the name of the Access Point settings are not available for this user" even if you use the owner account and have access to the settings.

Try to download the automatic settings from settings-> more-> Internet settings and see if that helps.

  • Windows 7 not remembering home network

I have 2 computers that are configured in a wired network:

    Laptop1 - Network switch - Laptop2

For security reasons, there is no access to the internet.  (For the few times that it is necessary, we use wireless.)

Because they are only 2 computers, I've set up static IP addresses to Ethernet adapters (IPs private / class C) and told me the network card it was a home network and then set up a homegroup.  (They are also in the same working group).  Since there are only two computers on the same subnet, I don't bother to set up a DNS gateway or default.  The only thing that caught my interest is that the NIC kept showing "unidentified network" - which could be the cause of the problem described below.  (Because this network does not have the particular signs, I expect that's why Windows confuses.)

After everything was set, I was able to share the files from one computer to another.  I have had absolutely no problem.  Unfortunately, every time restart us the computer, the two computers stopped talking.  When I went back to look at the network, it has been reset to the Public network instead of :ome network I selected previously.  What happens on BOTH computers.  Once I tell the computer in a home network, everything works perfectly - I don't even have to Setup homegroup.  Unfortuantely, as soon as we reboot a computer, this computer forget and returns to the Public network.

    Other information:

Both computers running with administrative accounts.  Because of custom software, we are unable to upgrade to 8.x Windows or Windows 10 right now.

I did some research and have seen many answers/different answers to this question.  #1 response seems to be to update the NIC drivers and I'm looking into that.  Is there something else I can look at?  Maybe add something to the network configuration to manually tell him it's the same network?

    Found the workaround:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/71408-unidentified-networks-set-private-public.html

While I don't really 'it' because it is automatically the network a network of 'work', it allowed me to progress.  When I had to add a 3rd computer to homegroup, I had to change the first computer network temporarily work back home in order to get the 3rd computer to join the homegroup and then after the system has restarted, he returned to 'work', but the HomeGroup continues to operate correctly.

I don't know if this is addressed in Win10, but it would be nice if manually configure us a computer on a network, so we can manually set as call it and the private setting would stick without having to enter in the security policy.

  • My Airport Time Capsule can act as a WIRELESS access point

    Hello.

I brought a Time Capsule with my Mac Pro. It worked well since yesterday.

I have set up the time Capsule as a WIFI, bypass at my local network access point. There is a router (cable) works at home.

It's my Mac Pro AirPort Utility and my iPhone, my Time Capsule is displayed with an exclamation point saying "device not found". I can't connect to the disk on this subject by afp share, or smb. Time Machine function is gone too. He failed trying to connect to the share drive from another computer connected to the time Capsule by cable network.

But at the same time, WiFi works well.

I tried to recycle energy. Sharing disk will be available. But if I start the Time Machine backup, it will not be a few seconds.

    Any idea?

    Thank you.

There are several posts here related the issue.

Luckily, you have set up your new Time Capsule for Back to My Mac (BTMM)?

If so, the 'temporary' solution is to delete/disable the option of the CCMM, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the base and then station, select change.
    • On the tab of the Base Station, go back to the section of my Mac at the bottom of the window.
    • If you have entries here, select it and click then the minus sign "-" button to remove it.
    • Click on update and allow the base station restart.

If you have not enabled CCMM, we have other options for you to try.

  • Unable to find the access point or use any device to all wireless to connect to my BEFSR41 v4.0

Hi well the problem seems to be that whenever I try to use any type of device and try to connect using a wireless connection to my router, I can't find an access point or no signal at all of it, but when you use a wired connection, it works perfectly. For example, I'm trying to connect my Wii to the internet via a wireless connection, but I can't find any access point so that it can connect to. So I went to my router configuration and I didn't know what to do to allow a shown access point or wireless to all activity. Theres no wireless tab or whatever it is to install, so I didn't allow remote administration, but still I could not find an access point. I don't know if im just made bad or I need an update of the firmware (mine is currently 1.04.02) or what else. If the help would be nice

BEFSR41 isn't a wireless router... It is wired.
