Update from Windows 8 to 8.1 stuck at 82%

I'm trying to upgrade a computer for someone who is Windows 8.  I managed to download the update file, and then I had to restart the computer to update.  When the computer reboots, he got 82% and seems to be stuck there.  I tried looking around and see that it is a common problem.  Is there any solutions to this?

I lived the same problem to update on an Asus laptop. I unplugged the charger and instantly, he started back up after being on 82% for an hour. He continued all the way up to 100% then restarted.

If you have a portable computer and you experience this problem, try the above.
