  • How to update the codec on laptop computer 2 open my files downloaded from the camcorder

I recently bought a Sony HDR-TG7VE camcorder and have downloaded the software for it on my laptop, but I am not able to open the files after uploading video clips on my laptop.

I contacted Sony and they said there is a problem with my laptop and I need to contact Toshiba to update the Codec.

The message I get is "Windows cannot open this file. To open this file, windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it. Windows can go online to search automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs installed on your computer.
What do you do - use the web service to find the appropriate program
-Select a program from a list of installed programs.

I use windows vista business 32-bit operating system.

The camcorder is an HD camcorder.

It's really irresponsible response this manufacturer, cam.
They offer products and they need to take care of you with that. It is logical that the recorded files should be open on every desktop or laptop PCs.
According to their logic everyone who ACE this cam and who want to watch movies on PC should contact PC manufacturers support. It's really crazy.

I don't know anything about this cam but normally you should have a few dist software with software that can help you to watch the movies or perhaps to convert files in other format and watch movies with standard players like Windows media player or VLC player.

  • Update the video Codec - Windows 7

I have windows 7 and you must update video codecs, specifically WMVideo Decoder DMO, version 6.3.9600.17238

I currently have version 6.1.7601.18221. According to me, the filmmaker uses this codec to encode the videos that I do. I think this codec is making my videos much darker, so they should be.

Where can I download these codecs?

    Hello

Please keep us updated on the status of the issue and apologize for the delayed response.

I would like to inform you that if you know the name of the codec or its ID (called a id FourCC for video codecs or a WaveFormat identifier for audio codecs), try searching the Internet using your favorite search engine. Often, you can go to the codec manufacturer's Web site to download the latest version of a codec.

  • C - Series codecs update the firmware of the device PHD 720 p

    Hey there everyone,

A question that I think I know the answer to, but it would be good to get confirmation.  As we know, if a doctorate 1080 p camera is connected to a codec of the C series, when a software update is applied on the codec that includes an update of the firmware of the camera, the camera is upgraded once the update to the codec is completed.

The same will happen if a doctorate 720 p camera is attached to the C Series codec instead?  I do not, but it would be good to get confirmation.  First tests showed that it will not.

    Thank you!

    Hi Bob,

You're right, it will not.  Series package C does not contain the software of the camera for the 720 p camera, and no improvement will happen.

For 720 p and 1080 p camera camera firmware are different.

  • Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.

I have Media Player 11 and Windows 8. Both programs are updated. I can't read this file because something to do with the codec.

    Hello

The Windows media player 12 comes pre-installed with Windows 8

    1. what version of Windows and Windows media player installed on the computer?

    2. What is the extension of the files you are trying to play?

    3. you play the files on the computer or on CD/DVD?

If you use Windows Media player 11, please see:

You receive a codec error message or play audio but video does not play when you play media files in Windows Media Player 11

  • Error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file' when try to play wav or midi files.

Original title: WMP "can't play wav or midi.

Using WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3.

Windows Media Player has somehow forgotten how to play wav or midi files. Doubleclicking either of these file types give an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. " There is a button 'Close' and 'Web Help' which still informs me, "you met the C00D1199 error message... ". ». Following the advice given nothing less than useful.

I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.

  • Video taken ages to find the codec before you play

Recently (November 2012) Windows Update install 3D NVidia improvement which COMPLETELY DISABLED all the outputs audio from my Windows 7 PC. Luckily a restore of the system fixed so now I have less audio, but now videos take ages (1 minute, no matter the size!) to load from my Windows 7 computer.

I thought that it must be a Codec search problem, so update my codecs with the K-Lite Codec Pack 64 - bit but still NOTHING. This is really unacceptable. My PC has only 1 year and but the updates of Windows I played these same videos WITHOUT delay at all. Why Windows Update did break my media play ability and how can I solve this problem.

This is not a specific problem of the player either because Winamp and Media Player Classic are completely stuffed. Interestingly, Windows Media Player seems to work very well. Maybe some anti-competitive behaviour of Microsoft? I really need this problem, any help will be appreciated.

Hi James P, thanks for responding. I solved the problem myself. I just downloaded / installed the "K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 960. Previously, I had installed the 780 version. I guess that not all programs use 64-bit codecs, :).

Thanks for carillon and Yes "completely drunk" has been defined as part of 'taking too long to load. Maybe I should have been more explicit with this one but I needed an accent so my apologies it.

So just a quick question to Microsoft Support why Windows Update caused these huge problems with codecs? Including the sound where I had NO AUDIO at all. I hope that this does not happen in the future, that I generally find Windows Update without danger. Please try to keep them safe. If the problems can be caused if you please inform us so that we can update. I realize, however, it is difficult to account for all situations, but I think that the K-Lite Codec Pack is commonly used.

Anyway thank you for your time and I hope it helps others.

  • Player could support the file type or does not endorse the codec

Need help to open video files.  I can play other video mp4 files, but others give me this error.  Complicated!  Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.

Sorry, I'm not sure I follow 100%, are you saying some .mp4 files play OK in WMP, but others do not?

update your AV checker and scanner mp4 files play not only to make sure that everything is OK with them.

Try another media player like free VLC to see if that plays OK. Download and install VLC (don't let him not take your reader by default until you are happy with it) and see if it plays OK. If so this may mean that video files are OK, but using a codec WMP is not compatible.

I have a MBP of 2009 end. I updated the material to 8 GB of ram with an SSD of 240gig. I want to run the new OSX, but is not on the list approved for the update. Anyone know why?

It is a decision that was made by Apple.  El Capitan is the newest OSX that will support a 2009 MBP.

This is not uncommon.  My 2006 MBP came with Tiger, but is limited to OSX Snow Leopard.

Old hardware ends up by becoming obsolete with newer technology.

    Ciao.

  • Updated the Imac to my wife to OS10.  Now have e-mail problems.

Updated the Imac to my wife to OS10.  Had difficulties in obtaining the post to work.  Once I got it work keep changing to the old password.  We go to the system setting and correct the password for Internet.  Then, we go to the accounts and correct password.  The mail has been working for about 24 hours.  Now she can not sent and passwords will not be at rest.

What is happening with this Apple!  I use to be able to count on everything works correctly without a bounch of workarounds. You're quick soaking in the quality of Microsoft.
