update to Server 2008 is stuck at 'Configuring updates 3%.... " »

My 2008 Server is stuck on «Configuring updates 3%...» "for about 1 year now. I tried all the suggestions and they have not worked. The problem seems to be the Pending.xml file. I'm unable to delete or rename it - I have said that I don't have permission, even if I log in as an administrator. How can I rename this file. I'm still not able to install sp2 or other updates.

Please repost in the Forum servers to the: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/windowsserver.

Good luck!

I get this error message when you try to update SQL Server 2008 R2 update error: WindowsUpdate_84b20001.

I have a suggestion for the knowledge base to rename the file %systemroot%\System32\Spupdsvc.exe in Spupdsvc.old, but the file does not exist in the first place. It's actually a fix for the problem 84b2000B, and my problem is code b 84, 20001.

I also tried with FixIt but it meets av problem and cannot continue. No message about it though.

When searching for the community I have fnd no obvious solution. I had this problem since September 2011 and the daily update fails every day since then. I have about 2 GB of free space (total Congress GB 139) on the HDD, 4 GB of RAM and is running Windows Vista on a laptop HP Compaq 6715 b (old since I bought this as a new computer at my retailer in December 2007). I use AVAST anivirus but he seems to have nothing to do with the problem of to. I also have drivers and firmware for hardware updated latest version a week ago but nothing seems to help.

I also have problem installing SQL server Express. And cannot install Visual Studio 2010 Pro SP1 probably as a couse direct of this installation failure.

Suggestions how proceed in diagnosing this problem help no doubt at some level. I'm completely stuck now.

  • Server 2008 R2 GPO do not update Windows 7 security policy - Audit policy

    I have an old Server 2008 R2 Standard (SP-1) 64 and 25 workstations Windows 7 64,.

On the server I have Group Policy Management, default domain policy, Computer Configuration, Windows configuration, security, local policies, Audit policy, all parameters together for the pass/fail (account, directory, logon, object, Prov., etc, etc, etc.) cela fine checks at the server level.  GPMC looks good, resulting strategy game is good with the default domain policy in all areas.

25 workstations become the settings of the GPO server for story/password to the password policy, etc. and all other settings.

25 workstations do not receive local Audit policy success/failure as the server, all the "Auditing No." and not able to allow to manually set or get updates from the Server GPO, not the gpupdate/force.

When done desktop computers get their information to audit of Server 2008 GPO, I thought that this came from default DC GPO for the audit

  • Server 2008 Clustering in ESX 3.5 Update 3

I see it in the release notes for update 3 that Server 2008 clustering is not yet supported. We have a development environment that we would like to build clusters 2008 for test purposes (no production). In addition, our dev farm is boot-from-SAN. Did somebody get 2008 clustering to work?

As an alternative, VMware Server would work for this? We try to avoid the cost of physical boxes and storage shared for clustering testing 2008. Yet once, it will not be a production workload. Thanks in advance.

They're waiting for you, Gordon... in the test Chamber...

I got a 64 bit 2008 Enterprise cluster successfully on 3 update configured, with iSCSI volumes connected Microsoft like shared disk (only players to start the virtual machines are on VMFS, also on a SAN-based data store). Have had no issues at all, even when rapid vMotioning of VMs cluster node (which are given 8 GB of RAM a piece) during periods of IO reasonably heavy.

Hope that helps! Please, help me by marking my response as "useful" or "correct", if you feel it is useful!

There used to be a way to set the isolation level by default for connections from the pool, but I do not see in the console...
Your application can set it when he gets the connection, but you know what you are doing? Do you know
Why you blocked, and who could hold the locks you want for as long?

I found it... Add to the list of properties of the driver of the pool:

    desiredtxisolevel = TRANSACTION_READ_UNCOMMITTED

    or TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED, TRANSACTION_REPEATABLE_READ,
    TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE, etc.

I solved the problem.  Run as administrator.  Not enough coffee this morning.

  • D20 problem of configuration of Windows Server 2008 R2 / 1 x SATA HD / 4 x SATA SSD

    Hi all

I have a Mod D20. 4155 and want to use next to it is by default SATA HDD SATA SSD four disks of virtual machines. Windows Server 2008 R2 will be the OS with the use of its Hyper-V features.

I have Aproblem with detection of drives in the configuration of the operating system. All 5 disks are visible in the Marvell controller BIOS setup. It is possible to configure a RAID on the SSD, etc, but I don't "see" any disk in the configuration of the operating system. I tried to load additional drivers in the part of the Setup utility GUI, but it did not work. I tried with the driver Marcell SAS and Intel Matrix driver, both located at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/migr-72280.html.

Suggestions for the BIOS of the PC / BIOS Marvell / OS installation configurations?

    Best regards, Chrischmi

    Hi all

I found the solution myself. After detection, the default drive is a SATA drive (and), I got the idea to test it on the Intel SATA controller. It was possible to install the spirit of the machine the disks attached to the Intel controller. After installation, I went to Device Manager and installed the driver of Lenovo Marvell, rekindled the Marvell controller disk and started the. Successfully. Yes!

On my way to the solution, I had another problem: in the setup of Windows GUI part, I got an error of 0 x 80300001 with Lenovo's Intel SATA driver. It was not possible to install windows Server on the SATA drive with reason0x80300001. very helpful post, Microsoft! (-) I decided to use the default Microsoft for the Intel SATA controller driver after a reboot. Installer executed well, but ended with an error 0 x 80070017 and problems of copy of (unknown) files. The solution (found after a few hours...) was to burn a new installation of Windows Server DVD. I don't want to talk about it anymore...

  • Server 2008 R2 installation will not configure on DV7 series laptop

I installed the Server 2008 R2 on a laptop DV7-7012nr. I upgraded the memory up to 16 GB. I deleted all the partitions, and then divide the hard drive into 2 partitions. Partition 1 is 7 442 Go Windows, Partition 2 is 256 GB server.

When I install, windows server 2008, in dual boot, it will not complete the configuration for the material. This leaves me the choice either reinstall Windows server 2008 and to come back to the same error or return to windows 7.

How can I get a dual boot for a full installation of Windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition or Standard on my DV7-7012nr laptop?

After spending 5 days with installing Server 2008 R2 64-bit on this laptop, I contacted the HP Support. Technical support HP and after 4 hours and 7 different technicians, I was informed that they can not help me with the installation of Server 2008 on this laptop. I know it's possible, and I installed Server 08 several times that I can remember. I'll have to this laptop with the conclusion that although HP says that it will work, it will not return.

Summary; Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit Standard or enterprise will not be installed on the HP Pavilion dv7-7012nr laptop.

  • Cannot update/modify files - Server 2008 r2 for 2012 r2 upgrade

I have a server that has been upgraded to Windows Server 2008 r2 to Windows Server 2012 r2. Before the upgrade, I could change the files in the directory c:\test. After the upgrade, I am unable to update when you are connected to the local computer. I can refresh the files from another machine via a UNC path, however. When I try to update files via the local computer, she wants me "save under" and says "Access denied" when I try to replace the file. I can rename it and save it in the directory, but not to replace the current file. When I check the effective permissions on the file, it says "Total control" and I am an administrator on the machine. However, if I add my account to the folder with the "total control" I can edit and save the file. So, I have a workaround in place, but I want to fix the real problem.

    Troubleshooting steps:

    • Turn off UAC
    • Attrib on folder and file settings
    • Removed all permissions and added to the folder
    • Copy/paste the contents of the folder new folder
    • I can create a new folder and the file and modify the content, if they are new
    • gpupdate/force
    • restarted several times

    Thank you
