Update W7 stuck on 'check updates'
Looks like a lot of people have this problem and I'm one of them. The computer has been idle for 6 months and when I try to update, it crashes at updates. Looks like it's also prevents me from upgrading to W10. I tried the troubleshooting update W but if fails to correct any problems. Does anyone have a solution?
If you can't get Windows 10 to get 10 app windows or Windows update, you always have the option of ISO to upgrade.
Simply select this option of PC/improvement.
After you download the Windows 10 installation files using this tool, you can upgrade your existing 10 Windows operating system, or you can create the bootable USB drive or DVD to install Windows 10 key later. You can also save the installation files to the ISO in offline mode file format, if you wish.

How to reset the Windows Update settings?
Before you answer, keep in mind that I tried the following things:
1.) downloaded and installed "WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab" so that the system is set. It did not work.
2.) tried the selected responds Vinod Mr proposed on this page. It did not work. (This is to turn the update services / BITs, renaming 2 slots to * .old, and then turn the services turn it on to reattempt the update checking.)
(3.) I also tried the approach of the selective startup with my Symantec Endpoint Protection and this is to switch off the corresponding services. It did not work also.
This has been the most frustrating experience I had with Windows 7. I do all this in order to update my display drivers, but to do this, I have to make sure Windows is up to date... who apparently can't do because it gets stuck on "checking for updates... »
Can someone, maybe Bill Gates himself, please shine light on it and help out a young man?
Thanks in advance.

Original title: Windows Update stuck
I had to recover my laptop windows 7 back to out-of-box state system. Once presented to my office, I immediately went to Windows Update to install all of the updates that I needed. After installing SP1, and restart the computer, windows update to update the update agent, so he could get some more updates. He said he would close and re - open Windows Update, which she did, but now it is stuck on "check updates".
The update that broke the update of Windows was "Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320"
I have since made a recovery of the system to the State out-of-box three times and each time "Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320" installs Windows Update is stuck saying "check updates".
I did tons of attempts to solve this problem, but it won't find more updates and I can't install more updates.
I have also experienced problems with Windows Update still looking for updates when Windows Update 7.6.7600.320 has been installed automatically after the system update to SP1 (it was after doing a clean install of Windows 7).
The following worked for me:
1. manually installing KB3083710
2. manually installing KB3102810
3. restart the computer
4. run the Windows Update Diagnostic tool to reset Windows Update (support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058)
5 restart the computer again and search for updates
Recently, I started the download for Windows 10 using 'media creation tool. When the Setup program is started, it got stuck on "check updates", it's over an hour now and it is still stuck at 0%. What am I supposed to do?
There are actually two options in creating media tool:
- Update this PC now: Automatic Download, Installation. You don't need to do anything. You try this option.
- Create an installation media for PC:Download an Installation file. When downloaded and opened, you find a setup.exe to run the Inplace upgrade. Make sure you only download the installation media according to your system.
Use method 2 from here and follow as said.
Use the recommended options for this PC check that you use the ISO to improve the current system. Skip step 6.
Then after the download is complete, you must run the Setup program to upgrade your system. This is the guide:
Method 7/Step 7 must be followed.
Uncheck the get the latest updates for Installation (select yet) in the first screen, which would skip this step.

I have also the same problem rmahmud28 is seen except mine is Windows 7. He is stuck with 'Check updates' and I've already updated the Windows Update Agent. I tried some other stuff, like your FixIt tools, but nothing.
No idea why or how... the problem was solved by itself. Looks like I have left no system check all these 300 updates available for download.
I've updated 31 updates yesterday because it had not been done in awhile and now it is stuck on updates. I tried some responses on this site but had no luck.
Install the latest version of the Windows Update, in KB3172605 client included.
Set automatic updates to 'never check updates' and restart Windows before installing.

I have updated iOS on my Ipad2 last night and this morning a pop-up window displays "Check update" with the circle of rotation, then the screen goes to sleep after about 3-5 seconds. In a loop that never ends. That's in the same state that it was this morning.
Try to reset the unit: hold the home and power buttons at the same time and continue to hold until the Apple appears (compared to 30 seconds - really). If you see the Apple reset is underway and the Slide to Unlock screen will display shortly. Once it is up, go to settings > general > about and see what is display Version.
See you soon,.
EDIT # 2
Thanks for the reply, I'll try it now.
When I go to Windows Update, it starts checking and green moves in the progress bar. But it's like that. Even if I let it run for days, not a single update found.
Final check of updates: never
Updates have been installed: 11/06/2009 - basically a year ago
You receive updates: for windows and other products from Microsoft Update
I have 32 bit Windows Vista, Service Pack 2 and a good internet connection.
EDIT # 1
The person was having the same problem. I downloaded Windows Update Agent for Windows Vista (for a computer to x 86), I opened it just the way, you click on install and finish the installation process. Then I restarted the computer and tried to run updates windows again. Nothing has changed.
How to reset the Windows Update components?
See if this corrects the problem (restart the computer after the reboot like Vista loves to restart).

at first my update of windows would not boot at all, but that has been resolved. Now if he pulls up and keeps are 'check updates' part. I tried to just let it go, but after about 4-5 hours, I finally gave up. There is no error messages or slowdowns in performance of any kind and I'm on a connection fast broadband. Help, please
I put the BITS service manual and automatic windows update and it worked
Always check the updates of long hours, tried to use the diagnostic tool, KB3102810 installed, updated Windows Update Agent may not work. Someone knows why this happens? And how can I solve it?
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Thanks in advance.
Take a look at this useful discussion article - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-update/windows-7-update-solution/f39a65fa-9d10-42e7-9bc0-7f5096b36d0c that has helped more than a few similar problems update.
No matter what I do, I can't get this thing to work.
Let me start by saying, what operating system (Windows 7 Professional 6.1.7601 "Service Pack 1, Build 7601") is something that I had through my college (Dreamspark). This copy is enabled and works well so far.
However, I tried to reinstall my Adobe applications, and he says that I can not install it because of a Windows update that I did not.
Of course, I go to Windows Update and let it run.
I let it run for hours, almost all night and day. It's just constantly "checking for updates... "scene and will never progress.
I checked the newspaper and I get recurring errors with the prefix '0 x 8024... '. ».
I did research on the error codes that are matched with the prefix said, and Microsoft took me to the "Diagnostic tool for Windows Update". I have let it run, then select it to troubleshoot Windows Update issues.
It 'fixed' "questions," except one: "recent updates installation problems: don't not fixed."
I tried to run Windows Update again for a few hours, but nothing helped. He is always looking for updates even while I'm typing this.
Can someone else offer suggestions? It's infuriating.
1. to "Set Up Windows" select "Ask Me later".
2. install KB3020369.
3. install KB3172605.

I have a HP desktop computer. Running Windows 7 Home Premium. Recently upgraded to the 10 Windows (while it was free). Discovered that even after the analysis of compatibility says 'OK' I had to call Microsoft for more help and told me that my computer was not compatible. Asked why the analysis said it was. No real answer not followed. Little has been said to restore to Windows 7. After that I have known issues. Before the update of window 10, this computer has been running great!
in any case, I noticed recently that my computer is not updated. When I go on ' check for updates ', it just stays on that. The status bar does not move, but just on the 'check updates' for days. The only way to stop it is to restart the computer. But I know there are updates because my other computer is up-to-date (did not upgrade Windows 10 - but is currently running Windows 7). So, I have sen the videos and articles on remove and clean up the folder "Software Distribution". I did it several times and it DOESN'T WORK. At one point, I decided to do a factory restore. Took the computer to update 1. At ran Windows Update and found 16 available updates and other things to seem to be good. But noticed once the "Service Pack 1" has been downloaded and installed the Windows Update is blocked again. So, I'm lost here. What can I do? Is there a solution? Or should I trash this computer and buy a MAC? Questions please ask.
Help, please... Thank you!
See this thread and perform the steps exactly. I did the following steps on several computers and they work.
I recently acquired a laptop and, after a few minutes of use, realized that Windows Update does not work properly. This laptop used to be a cell phone company and did not use Windows Update in the workplace, instead of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). This laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad T410, gives me the error code 80080005 after a few minutes of the test check the updates. I tried searching the Internet and followed all the steps given here. I'd appreciate any help and wants to avoid the new image of my computer.
Model: Lenovo ThinkPad T410
OS: Windows 7 Professional (SP1) x 86/32-bit
CPU: Intel i5 2.53GHz
RAM: 3 GB
I solved my problem, but I don't know how I did it. Thanks for your help!
