Update Windows computer 1 month just trashed

The recent update of windows just trashed the OS.  Very nice work Microsoft!  That's why I never run the updates.  They do more harm than good.  Unfortunately I did not know that the automatic update (download and installation) has been activated. Like I said, it's a 1 month old computer and I did not realize its implementation in this way.   I've changed that! Note to all: turn off the automatic update if you want a decent computer and use a decent antivirus.  No need for all the Microsoft of all updates. I used XP service pack 2 for 5 years without an update.

  • Updates Windows computer overheating

I have a hp 2560p elitbook and the fan goes wrong then it overheats it tries every time is updated and I can't seem to stop the update. Whenever I stopped him or the battery it dies updated to market. It was updated for 3 days now and I don't know what can anyone help please

Your central problem is obviously the heat.  If you use your laptop on a soft surface, it's your problem, or at least a major contributor.  If you're not, you can try to blow off the dust, but more often that otherwise, it would mean replacing the fan.  Usually, that happens on an old laptop and can not be cheap.

As far as Windows Update is concerned, change her FOREVER, you should do anyway to take control of your system up-to-date.  After you change the setting, restart.  After the reboot, type services in the text box that appears when you click the start planet.  Click Services.  In this window, navigate to Windows Update, right-click on it and choose stop.

  • I just updated my computer on windows 7 and I can't find my old favorites from before the update help?

k so I just updated my computer and I can't find my favorites yet ive tried it before google search and the entire solution did nothing, I even tried the tasks of file that didn't work because I don't know what they would be under. Please help a lot of important things lost...

First of all the set Windows 7 to show hidden files and folders, for details of how to proceed, see http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial151.html

Now set your computer look for a file called places.sqlite, you will find at least one copy in your current profile folder (the location where user data is stored). For more information on how to access your profile folder, see the article of profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data .

If there is a second copy of this file also can contain your old favorites. With Firefox closed, rename the version in your current profile in places.sqlite.old folder, and then copy the other file in your profile folder. Restart Firefox to see if your old favorites are back.

  • How long should windows updates take after 5 months of Vista?

I have Windows Vista on a Toshiba laptop. A few days ago, I noticed that the last successful update was on 11/06/12. Then I ran windows update manually, but was getting an error that says "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running." You may have to restart your computer. "So I restarted my computer and went and it was OK, the service was not working. So I started manually. This allowed me to get updates. I clicked on install, and it said installation of updates. Its been almost 3 hours. In the Task Manager it shows the window updates running and in services, it shows the service running windows update. I'm just curious to know how long to him given has not updated for 5 months? Assistance or direction would be useful and appreciated. Thank you.  Herb

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

It's really weird that Windows has not been updated for 5 months. The time depends on the updates required for Windows, drivers as well as other Microsoft software, apart from the speed of internet connection. This is why the time cannot be guessed.

Kindly updated Windows from time to time for peaceful work of the PC.

Im running windows vista 32-bit edition Home premium. I have not had my computer lately ive been let my sister use it. IM afraid that even if she was using it she got a virus because now I can't update windows, my microsoft security databases can not be updated either. Ive never had windows defender and essentials of security on that because I don't do much with this computer. Can someone help me understand if I need to reformat or if there is just a problem with my windows update?

is a 'Clean Install' you can never be 100% certain that every last bit of the infections have been removed.

That said if you have time and want to see how you can go to eliminate viruses, malware and bots then read on.

Start by reading the following information of the Virus removal: (you must first install and run MalwareBytes)

For me on a PC friends who had more than 60 infections and there is no CD of restoration and the key code has been lost, the article above "Malware Bytes", "AVG Free" and Norton NIS 2010 has been around.

    NIS 2011 trial software:

  • Updates Windows 7 Professional beat other features on my computer

My company recently just bought 3 new PC with Windows 7 Professional on them and 2 of the 3 are working properly. The 3rd on however was to find work until I went to install the updates. Once the updates have been installed I noticed that I was no longer able to access to certain things. As I are more done right click on the desktop and go to personalize. I can also no longer right-click on my computer and go to properties. When I click on one of these nothing happens. I also notice that the appearance of my satrt button changed. He went to a similar round more at XP Start menu button. I did a restore before updates and that's how I know that all this worked well before. Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Hi Melissa,

    1. What is the number of KB updates that you install?
    2. how many updates you install both?
    3. do you have any security software installed on the computer?

More than once some non-Microsoft programs will interrupt the installation, updates. We recommend that you turn off non-Microsoft programs and install the updates one at a time and check the result. To do this, try the following steps.
    a. open the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    b. Article, follow "step 1: perform a clean boot."
    c. restart the computer.
    d. Click Start, type updated and press to enter.
    e. search for available updates and install an update at a time and check the result.
    f. When you are prompted to restart the computer.
    g. Article, follow "step 7: reset the computer to start as usual.
    h. restart the computer so that the changes take effect and check the result.

  • Windows Update crashes computer

Update Windows automatically updated and then restarted my computer yesterday.  The computer does not restart.  I tried F8 to restart last good configuration, but it will not - restart it crosses all the drivers and then freezes.  If I click on "Start windows normally" it will try to go to the Welcome screen, but it closed its doors, restarts, shut its doors, restarts several times until I just turn off the computer.  I have windows XP.  In safe mode, it will run by the drivers and then freeze.  I can't go to the Welcome screen.  I can't on the desktop to run anything.  I can't go to the start menu.  Help, please.

You can download the SP3 directly from here.

Once you have upgraded to SP3, then try to get the rest of the required updates (there are MANY).

    I hope this helps.

  • Computer HP laptop will not update windows download 8 pass from 13%

Laptop HP Pavilion g6 windows 8

    The short "Workaround" to try:

Go to your Control Panel > display icon > Device Manager >

Find, right click and "Uninstall", your Audio driver(s).

Do not delete NOT the driver, just right click and 'uninstall '.

    • Do not restart your computer (yet).

    Next:

    • In Control Panel > Windows Update > change settings > disable the recommended updates... You can add them later if / when you get the 'Important' updates to work.
    • You can click to "Check for Updates" again once, or simply go back to your main "Windows Updates" window and now click on the 'Install' button (on the lower right corner of this window).
    • If the 'glitch' updates, in other words, if you get a red 'Failure' and it seems that one or more of these stupid updates suddenly just not download and start installing like you have said just that he does, click on 'Install' again... Now, the updates should start installing.  If you have some big updates (or many of them), this can take some time.
    • For added security, do not do much other work.  The computer market.  Read an e-book.  Keep an eye on it, but don't make your Facebook session or online banking.  Don't shop on Amazon...  Let the system work on the updates.
    • Wait... wait some more... When the updates are loaded, you will be told that you must restart the computer.
    • Reboot / restart the computer when the computer tells you it's time...
    • When the system restarts, these Audio drivers to reinstall it after that updates install and just as the system finished its reboot sequence.

    Good luck!

  • By using the system restore before computer restart after updating Windows 10...

I chose to try the upgrade of Windows 10 on my laptop primary.  Because of the long installation times, I started late in the evening then followed finishing (or almost) the update the next morning.  Until I sat down to 'start' I spoke with a friend who had just completed an installation of two heavy day of problems.    Although I am good enough to solve computer OS and software installation problems, I was very reluctant to go forward.   After serious soul searching I elected continue to use Windows 7, I don't really like.

That's why I chose to use the system restore before restarting my computer needed complete Windows Update 10.  I chose the previous restore point before the update of windows 10 and ran through the entire procedure and then restarted the computer after the restore point.

Everything worked fine and I was able to do the foregoing... Except that I can't do updates of security that have been uninstalled.   The Windows Update screen repeat "you must restart your computer...". "with the reboot by holding the active button.

This window doesn't go away even after reboot, and I can not "check for Updates".

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reset this program if I can do all the updates except Windows 10 security.

    Thank you for any assistance.

By using the system restore before computer restart after updating Windows 10...

Sorry, System Restore does not cancel the major updates, that's why a lot of automatic updates delete all system restore points. The tool that is appropriate in this case would be a restore Image. If you have not created an image before the upgrade, then you are out of luck.

Are you sure it is an update of Windows and not an update of HP?

If an HP update, you will need to contact them.

Go to the website of your computer manufacturer > drivers download Section > then key in your computer model number > find your operating system > find two graphics / video or from the Chipset drivers and download and install.

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system
