Windows Update crashes computer
Update Windows automatically updated and then restarted my computer yesterday. The computer does not restart. I tried F8 to restart last good configuration, but it will not - restart it crosses all the drivers and then freezes. If I click on "Start windows normally" it will try to go to the Welcome screen, but it closed its doors, restarts, shut its doors, restarts several times until I just turn off the computer. I have windows XP. In safe mode, it will run by the drivers and then freeze. I can't go to the Welcome screen. I can't on the desktop to run anything. I can't go to the start menu. Help, please.

Windows Update crashes when installing patches
Hello
I have a problem with Windows Update on my computer Windows Vista 25 Nov. November 25, Windows Update told me of new updates and I chose the option to install the fix and the stop in the night and the system has been blocked to install update 3 of 5 for all night and then I had to turn off the system and remove the battery and restart the system. When I checked the view update history after the restart, he says that it has properly installed patches. Then, I have the same problem that Windows update crashes at installation of update 1 x and does not go further.
Updates installed on 25 Nov:
Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688)
Update for Windows Vista (KB976470)
Update for Windows Vista (KB976470)
Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688)
Update definition for Microsoft Security Essentials - KB972696 (definition of 1.71.222.0)Updates currently Hung on the system:
Update for Windows Vista (KB976098)I don't see the error messages and shows Windows Update just "Installing Update 1 of 2.
I checked to restore the system to the restore point before the Windows Update November 25, but the restore point is missing on my system.
Kindly help me to solve the problems
Thank you & best regards
SirotSirot,
It sounds as if there is something in the way of installation. First of all, make sure that your system is free of malware\virus infections. This thread has some great information on this topic: getting rid of malware. If you do not find infections or even the question after removing them and then perform a clean boot , and then run updates. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

After windows updated my computer, my laserjet6MP will not print. When I click on print, an error message appears indicating that there is an error in printing. When I checked for error it says there is a job prevents printing to the printer, but there is no jobs in the queue.
I recently put my computer Setup initial because a hacker stuck to the top of my use of the computer.
I have not all printers working, but now after update it does not print. I love this printer and do not give it up.
If the printer is connected with a parallel cable to the printer to the computer (usb adapter no) go into the Device Manager and click ports, and then click the lpt port that the printer is attached. Change the default checkmark do not use an interruption for the last item to use any available interruption. Also the legacy box downstairs. Save the settings and the printer should work now.

After that the most recent windows update, my computer starts a little more slowly and the start bar at the bottom rises gray and rasterized. In addition, all pages that I opened on the internet are coming with the same blocks of old, gray. Any ideas on what was past, and how to fix it?

A few days ago I had two sticks of 2 GB GSkill RAM by mail. Here's the same brand, model and size as the pair currently installed (obviously). (Sticks alternate according to the specifications of the card from my mother)
After you have installed the new RAM and the computer starts up, it freezes within about 30 seconds of connection. Before installing the new sticks, I had no problem whatsoever.
My first thought is that I sit the RAM properly, then I go and reinstall it. I start, and the same thing happens.
So obviously this RAM must be bad, right? When I take out news, not gel. Ah, but when I remove the OLD stuff and use new instead, I ALSO no gel. So maybe it is not the RAM.
Then I reboot in safe mode. No gel. Interesting. I opened the window 'System' and it says "memory (RAM) installed: 4.00 GB ', which is correct." I opened CPU - Z, and it reports also 4 GB of memory. I run a few hours and have no problems whatsoever. So I say to myself, there must be either a Windows service or a 3rd party service is causing the issue and not the new RAM.
I disable all services of 3rd parties and restart in normal mode. It freezes. OK, so maybe (though unlikely) I have a virus any (I say probably not because I have to) run the module additional firefox NoScript, and set to block all flash, javascript, xss, iframes, etc. - in other words, only allow to my whitelist and B) I have Windows Firewall and running McAffee and updated.). But I decided to first try Windows services for the hell of it.
So I enable only the services that start in safe mode as my reference, disabling the rest via services.msc. I start normally and not gel. Great, then maybe it is a Windows service. I start which allows one service after another without any problem. I get to the bottom of the list and select the Windows Update service. Within literally 10 seconds my computer crashes. Large.
As a validation test, I put all services back to the base line of safe mode and only allow Windows Update. I start normally, and again once it freezes.
Another test of validation, I start with all normal, but disable Windows Update. Do not freeze. I'm going to start Windows Update. Yet once, it freezes for about 10 seconds. So clearly something is in place.
As a third and final sanity check, I remove the new RAM and run a Windows Update. He finds a few optional updates, but not critical. My system is up2date.
My only attempt to solve this problem so far was to backup all Windows Update DLLs (C:\windows\system32\wu*.dll, although I don't know if these are good) and do a scan sfc to replace them with copies of 'good '. It did not work.
So my question is:
Why cares Windows Update that I have 4 GB of memory installed?
Thank you
Jon
1. I 'upgraded' from the RC of Windows 7 x 64 for Win 7 x 64 Home Premium.
2. I use McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.7.0i, DAT version 6060, Scan Engine 5400.1158
3 No.
4. No, I put together this computer myself.

To answer my previous posts:
I think the USB storage is a separate issue. And.
I think I * may * have solved the problem of origin with one or more of the following (don't know who):
- Updated the software of the chipset of the card from my mother.
- Updated HD Windows audio drivers to the recommended ASUS (Realtek) HD audio drivers
- Updated since Windows installed NVIDIA display drivers for version NVIDIA WHQL.
- Increased my tRFC (refresh time of line) to 70 52 clocks clocks. Set my GSKILL DRAM voltage recommended by 2.1V. Off the SPD DRAM configuration (I read that ASUS is not entirely based on the SPD and can affect things on its own).
I had WU for 20 minutes from writing this post without a freeze, so we'll see. (Previously, it would freeze within 10 seconds of turning on WU)

Windows Update crashes trying to check the computer
Windows XP Professional x 86 with all important updates
Running as an administrator
When I try to go to Windows Update, I get a message saying that an ActiveX control must be installed to save your computer. (The machine worked for awhile and used Windows Update.) I click OK and then get a popup error message:
---------------------------
IEXPLORE. EXE - Application error
---------------------------
The instruction at "0x04fe0068" referenced memory at "0x04fe0068". The memory could not be "written".Click OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------I tried several times and has continued to get the same sequence, so I said finally allow to do anything be installed from Microsoft. Now if I try to go to Windows Update I got the same message appears on the installation of an ActiveX control, but do not receive the request to install it and IE 8 seems to hang or stand the memory error message.
How to do this?
Method 1 - has not found anything to fix
Method 2 - stage 1 - did not help
Method 2 - step 2 - could not find the validation ActiveX control
Method 3 - does not - problem was with validation
I also tried Mode safe mode with networking. The control seems to settle and the website says: I have been validated. However, if I tried to do anything whatsoever (Express, Custom, updates of the list, etc.) he says that the web page has encountered an error.
I rebooted and tried again. Yet once, I invited myself to install the ActiveX control. I left the guest sitting there and a little while IE later throw the same memory access error. It was not the installation of the control which was not - it is an asynchronous with process.
Then I disabled all add-ins closed IE and has been able to use Windows Update.
Add-ins that I disabled were:

Hi MS. victims (be strong!)
I have the same problem about the update of windows. What happened was that I had put just internet access at home, so I was invited later to "new windows updates available" so I agreed. After about an hour (because he was that much) it was done and was ready to be restarted. so I restart my computer without hesitation because I had already created a restore point. The Blue Screen of Death. so he started to happen... the "loop." no Safe Mode. no last good configuration that worked. No command prompt. none worked. I mean, it's just bad.

Windows Update crashes at startup
Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!
Ideas: Windows 7, install Windows updates KB2467023 and KB2393802 and freezes on the login screen, where he goes on to say: "before the computer, do not turn off your computer.
- Windows Update
- Freezes at "prepare your windows, do not turn off your computer."
- I installed the beta version of Internet Explorer. There was an update for Internet Explorer 9, but thought that was the problem, so I removed the beta version. I am now in Internet Explorer 8, but Windows Update still crashes.
- I already tried to start windows in Diagnostic Startup Mode and have even disabled all startup items, but that did not help as well. When Windows hangs at logon screen, I cold boot my system and restart mode without failure. Here, windows prompts me to this update of Windows has failed and does not change. It restarts after that and my computer works well but then again, in normal mode, Windows installs the updates again and invites me to restart. I'm back to the problem again.
- Something to note is that I recently installed ObjectDock from Stardock. This is my first update after installation. But since I already booted in Diagnostic Mode and still Windows could not update, I have my doubts that ObjectDock is the issue here.

Windows Update crashes when activated
My computer started as a Vista Machine. When I got my free upgrade to windows 7 64 bit I started to have a problem of Hanger with in minutes of boot upward. I traced the problem occurs only when the computer has internet access. I traced it further the windows Update as a problem when it is disabled the computer crashes is no longer. Update disabled, I am not able to check or download updates from the Microsoft site.
How can I know what is the problem or how I should do next to fix this?
Hello
Step 1: I suggest to enable windows update and then, check if the problem persists in safe mode with network. Send back the same.
To use a safe mode with network option, follow these steps:
a. restart your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
b. use the arrow keys to choose safe mode with networking to Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and press ENTER.Step 2: Visit the section below and click the fix it button or try the steps underI would fix it myself.
Step 3: Look for error messages in the event viewer. If you find error messages after return the exact error message so that we can help you better.
Measures to check the application event log:
a. Click Start.
(b) in the search box type eventvwr.msc , and then on enter.
c. now, click Application in the event viewer (local).
d. now, looking for event log on the right side of the event viewer window.

Windows Update crashes frequently; requires restart
I run Windows Update a bit now and then to stay up to date. However, WU was strange behavior for a while (months): sometimes it freezes with the window simply stay white and the cursor being the circle of waiting and sometimes it crashes when you click on the updates button control (once again the window is all just white). When this happens, I have to restart Windows - otherwise, I can't WU to work.
The problem is that there is no error message and nothing in the newspapers - WU just freezes.
I installed all the updates and keep my computer clean by regularly running anti-spyware and antivirus. This problem has existed for a few months now and I was not able to identify if I installed an update etc that might have caused this.
I run Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, as an upgrade of Windows Vista Business. The problem WU is the only problem that I have.
Any thoughts?
Thank you!
PBylund,
I would recommend that you go and try the option boot than dmw86 recommended. After a clean boot, run WU and check that it works, then put your PC to sleep for a few minutes then wake him up and try to WU. Also, before you try this, you must restart your PC and WU before testing and then talk the PC to verify that the problem is after coming out of sleep. Let us know the results. From: miranda
I can't get more updates. whenever I do a search for updates the search bar continues to research, he never stops! and then I have to close the browser with taskmanager because clicking on the x freezes the browser.
From: TaurArian
If you have a wireless router: in the Security tab, verify that you are not blocking tool.
Possible reasons: -.
1 Internet Explorer temporary files corrupted.
2. background Intelligent and service not started event log
3 C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder is corrupted
4. you need to re-registered some DLLs
5. you may need to add Windows Update to the Trusted Sites Zone:
6. the spyware.
7. the third-party programs running in the background.
8 ActiveX controls corrupted
Suggestion 1: -.
Deletion of temporary Internet files, cookies and history in Internet ExplorerTools > Internet Options > general
You'll see Delete Cookies, delete files, delete history of
NB: "delete all offline content", will remove all the files needed to browse websites offline.

Click Start, choose run and in the run box, type regsvr32 qmgr.dll, click OK.
Click Start, choose run and in the run box, type regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll, click OK.
Proposal 3: -.
It is possible that the contents of the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder has been corrupted, so try to rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. Click Start, choose run.
In the run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the automatic updates service. Click on stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.
Rename the folder "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution":

After trying to install Windows updates, my computer turns off.
I tried to load 2012 ARO. In the end there was a request to restart my computer, so I left closed... it has been slain on the third phase of the judgment since then. Support ARO said that it's a microsoft issue, not a question ARO. I tried to restart in SafeMode known last... but who doesn't have a wok. At out the battery, disconnected it, everything that I could think of and nothing works. Help, please.

If the answer is still no, you need to get the site of the manufacturer of the computer recovery discs. I think that you will be able to order Windows Vista or Windows 7 but Windows XP is rained on many sites and an internet search may be more useful in this case.
