Upgrade Acrobat and Signature appearances

We are about to upgrade our Acrobat X to XI users. We have a number of users who have created custom signature appearances that they use at the signing of the documents. In the past when we have upgraded Acrobat these signature appearances have been lost. Is there a way to switch appearances of signature existing to the new version during the upgrade so that they must be recreated by users?

Search the system a file called "appearances.acrodata". It should be in the Acrobat User folder, in the subfolder of security. The specific location depends on the version of Acrobat/Reader and OS. For example, on Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\11.0\Security\appearances.acrodata

  • Using images in the custom Signature appearances

    Dear all,

I'm looking to use our company logo as part of a custom in a signature appearance.Capture.PNG

When you use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to create a custom appearance, I selects the option to use an imported graphic, and then click to import graphic files...

The file picker account however the possibility to open a PDF file to use as an image in the logo. If it is possible for us to convert our image files to PDF format and import it like this, it's a bit complicated.  If I remember the older versions of Adobe Reader, it was possible to import logos that were in different formats (png, JPEG, BMP etc..)

May I ask if there are plans to support the importer of images in formats other than PDF format?

Thank you very much in advance for your time.

    Kind regards

    Graham Bruno

    Hi Graham,

Yes, you can use one of these formats file such as png, JPEG, BMP, etc, but you will have to choose the file format while browsing it so that it gets displayed for selection. Please refer to the screenshot.

In case if you continue all deliver or have any questions please let us know. We will be happy to help you.

  • Adobe Echosign, v10 Adobe Acrobat and LiveCycle ES / 2?

My company is standardized on Adobe Acrobat and Reader version 10.  I currently have Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe LiveCycle ES v10.1.13 / 2.  I would like to add fields of signature at the bottom of the forms are made with these two products.  Is - it possible, or should I or should I for any other reason, the upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Pro v11 and LiveCycle ARE / 4?

    Thank you for your help.

    -David.

    Hi dsh135,

Yes, you can add a signature using Acrobat X field, but please note that the latest Acrobat XI (11.0.10) version, which has better and more flexible than the version features X.

In Acrobat X, go in "tools > forms > Edit' and select the Digital Signature field and place it where you want on the form."

Then you can open the properties of the signature field and make the settings you want.

    Hope this information helps.

Let me know if you have other queries.

  • Available to multiple IDS signature appearances?

My wife and I need digitally sign a Bank document.  The document requires us to both full signatures and original place in several places.  Given that I have received the document in electronic format, I electronically sign documents.

I use Acrobat 9 Pro on Windows XP 32-bit (my work computer), and I've never used before digital signatures, so I started by creating an ID for myself.  I used the following steps:

    1. I created my ID with my contact information (name, e-mail address, etc.).
    2. I asked a strong password for the signature.
    3. I created an appearance that contained the current date and a JPEG of my signature.
    4. I created a different appearance which contained just my initials.
    5. I created a last appearance which contained just my name.
    6. I saved the key to a PFX file.

I then started the same steps to create an ID for my wife (on the same Windows account and without close Acrobat).  I thought that when I created a new ID that Acrobat creates an ID without appearances.  Instead, all appearances, I created for my ID was available for the ID of my wife, too.  So, I was able to place a signature to aid ID of my wife but the image was my signature.

I missed something?  Appearances stored with the ID, and if so, how Acrobat separate them among the ID?  I looked through the help of Acrobat, but the only site that I found one spoke creation of appearances, and he did not work with more than one.

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    Matthew

    Hi Matthew,

Acrobat (and when I say Acrobat I mean really both Acrobat and Reader) save the appearances and the digital ID files in the space of the user as assigned by the operating system. If you do not log on when you start the computer (which is just, it starts and you find yourself on the desktop) then there is probably only one user, which was created when you set up the computer. If you have a log on screen when you select a user name and type a password then there is probably accounts for you and your wife. Anyone logged in as this is where the files will be stored. Specifically, I am referring to C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Security where will depend on the journal in the name.

    I hope this helped,

    Steve

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Signatures

I set up a signature in Adobe Acrobat 9 and when you draw the box to place your signature everything behind it is "clean".  Is there a way to change the settings so that you can see where you place your signature?  I have to sign a large number of documents (e.g. contracts) where I have little room to position and I need not to hide the wording where I placed my signature.  Is it possible to do this?  All offered suggestions to solve my problem?

    Thank you

    Hi Amy,

I misunderstood what you were asking. I thought you were talking about the opacity of an unsigned signature field, but now I see what you're asking.

What you need to do is remove all white space in the image that you use like a custom signature appearance. Acrobat cannot do this, you will need a different tool. Adobe Illustrator can do what you want to do. You would need to convert the bitmap into vector image and hide the white space.

  • Corrupt Sessions Acrobat and Pitstop

    Hello.

Enfocus PitStop (13.2) plugin gives the possibility to trace the changes in a pdf file. To do this, he must first launch the PitStop registration process. Then he must "Enfocus sign and save under...". "the pdf file. At this point PitStop joined a signature to the pdf document: "Certified PDF 2 Signature" So far so good.

Then switch us to editing PitStop and trace a vector move or set a new color, etc. After that, we choose "Enfocus sign and save" (not save as). At this stage, Acrobat an error message "Fail to create the digital signature.

After that, the history of the editing Gets corrupted.

I did a short video screen capture to display the workflow.

Please note that I encounter this problem on Mac and Windows. Acrobat CC

I wrote on the Forum of Enfocus and to support@enfocus but does not have a solution or a confirmation that this a bug or a problem with my workflow so far.

-What someone would do a similar test for me? Thank you.

Please note that I have also tried all the solution to workaround (all failed):

    • I enabled root on MacOS, and began a new session as root.
    • I fixed the permissions with Terminal: sudo/usr/libexec/repair_packages - repair - standard-pkgs /.
The only problem remaining after that was: 'permissions differ on "Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/Safari.help/Contents/Resources/index.html", should be lrwxr-xr-x, they are - rw - r - r -'
    • I started the Mac without extensions (the SHIFT key at startup).
    • I closed and reopened the test documents or quit and relaunched the Acrobat application to step of the different tests.
    • I waited for a variable amount of time between the first "Enfocus sign and save as" and the second ""Enfocus sign and save"because once it worked fine, but I could not reproduce the 'miracle'.»
    • I uninstalled and reinstalled DC Acrobat and PitStop 13 u2.
    • I installed another demo of PitStop on a newer Mac in another office.
    • I used 10 FontDoctor (from Extensis) to check my fonts.

Enfocus Pitstop is not an Adobe product and is not supported by Adobe. Please contact Enfocus Technical Support with this type of question. They are quite sensitive.

Good luck in getting the resolution of your problem.

  • Inconsistency in Acrobat and Reader restrictions

There is an inconsistency between the Adobe products for restrictions of document on a file that I received.  If I open it in Acrobat, it says 'None' for the security of documents, and any restrictions on the document say "authorized."  If I open it in the reader, he says always "None" for the security of the documents, but about half say the restrictions of the document (including signature) "unauthorized."  What gives?  I use the latest version of Acrobat and Reader, but I don't know what was used to generate the document.  I tried to save the document in Acrobat, but it doesn't help.

Confusing isn't. The thing is, this isn't a tool of reporting for security. Rather, it is to tell you what you can and can't do now. Thus, the player may not change (for example). If editing is not authorized in the drive and declared as such. Other thgs can depend on to know if a file is active, signed player or whatever.

  • DC to Acrobat and Acrobat Reader DC - Option to 'Send comment' back to initiator review is missing?

Recently reinstalled the software from scratch, including Acrobat Pro DC.

Receipt by e-mail review request to another writer - when I opened the document, I don't have an option in the upper part of the pdf file to 'Send comment' to the initiator. I know that this was in XI'AN and previous, don't know if it was in DC earlier. Thought that maybe the other writer had just registered as player extended with commenting.

Now, when I sent today a review by e-mail to an SME that is currently running Acrobat Reader DC, he also had the opportunity to send your comments. I checked with another SME that he always * fact * appear in XI player.

I hope it's just hidden somewhere in the menus. Does anyone know if the option in a menu somewhere, or if the feature has been removed, or if it is a bug?

It's like teeth pulling sometimes to get people to make comments, so adding in a smaller dam (forcing them to save the pdf file, and then manually create an email and attach, and then send) only adds to the frustration :-)

    Thank you!

FOR INFO. 'Send feedback' functions now correctly with the update of DC Acrobat (for Acrobat and Acrobat Reader):

  • Acrobat and LiveCycle compatibility

I can change a LiveCycle ES2 form (move the data from the forms in a spreadsheet) using Acrobat X Pro, but cannot change the same form using Acrobat DC (I get the message that the file can be changed only with LiveCycle). If I upgrade to Livecycle to ss4 and re - save the PDF as such, I'll be able to change the shape of LiveCycle using Acrobat DC as I can with Acrobat X?

No, Adobe Acrobat and LiveCycle Designer are separate products.

Acrobat X Pro, there was an interface of LiveCycle Designer. It is not available in Acrobat Pro DC.

  • How to upgrade Acrobat 7.0 Pro 7.1?

I have been using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro for many years without any problem, but yesterday, I ran out of memory when I tried to open a large PDF file.  The tech support guy Acrobat told me that 2 GB of RAM, that's enough, then I tried to upgrade and upgrade from Acrobat Pro 7.0, 7.1 and it seemed to work.  But when I rebooted to complete updates, I could see that Acrobat 7.0 had never changed to 7.1.

    So, what's the problem?

How can I upgrade Acrobat 7.1?

In fact, you're chance that Acrobat 7 works at all under Windows 7. The ability to print to the Adobe PDF printer to create PDF requires at least Acrobat 8.1 works properly under any version of Windows beyond XP.

In terms of memory, Acrobat is a 32-bit application and thus cannot use more than one space address 2 GB. Add more memory (assuming you are running Windows 7 64-bit) can help overall performance on your system, but it does not a bit of difference in terms of managing the memory of Acrobat.

7.1 upgrade failure may just be because of his inability to properly install the Adobe PDF printer for you.

Can not help you more as Acrobat 7.x is known to be incompatible with Windows 7. Sorry!

I have Adobe Acrobat and it is not letting my edit my pdf, she continues to redirect me to a page with a link "more" and click on who goes to a page that requires a payment of $14.99. I bought this product, the money came out of my account and I restarted and stop my computer and the same page continues to appear when I click on edit my pdf file.

When we've seen this before, it is because people buy Adobe Acrobat Pro, but in fact are not running. If you have Acrobat Reader, you get the same message.

So if download you Acrobat Pro, but not install it, then install it now.

If you have installed it, and then start it (with start menu or launch pad) and open the PDF file there.
