Upgrade Dataguard 9.2.0.8 (32-bit) to 10.1.0.5(64-Bit)
What is the best way to do this with minimal downtime. I have two (2) machines [the two 32-Bit] primary (9.2.0.8) and Eve (9.2.0.8)... I need to switch the primary and standby to 10.1.0.5 (64-bit) to new hardware, limited service disruption. I'll have the new machines built and installed with 64 - Bit. My question is: can I have a computer 32-bit archlogs sending to a 64-Bit machine to apply (Dataguard)? My thought was to have the original upgraded to 10.1.0.5 (32-bit) 32-bit machine (9.2.0.8) Firstly build a Dataguard on one of the new 64-Bit machines and ship the new machine until the changeover weekend newspapers. I read a few posts that I can have a 32-bit database running on a 64-bit computer (with just the RPM 64 - Bit and 64-Bit o/s installed), deliver the newspapers to the Machine 64 - Bit, and then failover weekend change the wordsize of 32 bit to 64 bit, but don't know how true that is. Any help would be greatly appreciatedI agree with FZheng, you should consider Oracle 11.
You can avoid a database bounce by putting in place all your new settings Data Guard and FRA beforehand. And you can use an alter system to change the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_2 of "reporter" while you use RMAN duplicate to create the day before.
So to build the new system, but add these settings even before starting the data move from Oracle 9.
FAL_SERVER
FAL_CLIENT
STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT=AUTO
DB_UNIQUE_NAME
DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT
LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT
log_archive_dest_1
log_archive_dest_2
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_1
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_2
LOG_ARCHIVE_MAX_PROCESSES
Create your spfile on the primary with LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_2 set to ACTIVATE and you avoid a stop and restart later. Then change to DELAY until you build the day before. You can save time more by copying the password in advance. Wait to issue the FORCE LOGGING until all the data is transferred.
Place your tnsnames and the Auditor including _DGMGRL on both servers in advance.
If plan you correctly, you can use RMAN two copies and never primary stop. The day before will just begin to apply again them.
If you find this "Helpful" Please mark as well.
Best regards

Can I upgrade to windows vista home Premium 32 bit on 64-bit operating system
Im running windows 7 Home premium on opus 64-bit system. Can I upgrade to windows vista Home premium 32-bit...
Hello
This is not an upgrade from Windows 7 to Vista.
It is a downgrade that Vista is the previous operating system before Windows 7 came out and you would have to BUY a COMPLETE of Vista version and do a fresh install of Vista; but before you buy Vista, check first that your computer manufacturer provides the Vista drivers for your model computer.
Microsoft sells more Vista; Try Amazon.com.

Hello
You are unable to update or upgrade Vista 32 bit to 64 bit of Vista.
32-bit to 64-bit, or 64 bit to 32 bit is done by a new installation using a full version of the operating system.
32-bit and 64-bit are different operating systems.

No discount for 2.2.2 upgrade to 3? (Also the 64 bit thing)
I bought MainStage 2 in 2012. Shouldn't I receive a discount for the upgrade to version 3, rather than pay full price?
In addition, my MB Pro is a mid-2010, which runs in 32-bit. I'll be able to run version 3?
Full price for MainStage 3.2.3 is $ 29.95. The only addition of Alchemy is more than that, not to mention other synths added since MainStage 2. Your Mac in mid-2010 will launch very well 64-bit applications. MS 2 works in 32 or 64 bit. 3 MS is 64-bit only. However, you need to update your operating system of 10.6.8.

Pavilion d61 40f PC: upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7 (64-bit)
I am trying to upgrade Windows Vista Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 (64 bit) on an older machine. In order to go forward the installation, I get the message that I need to uninstall the following programs: Business Manager and Anti-Malware Core. I looked under "programs" and "programs" on my C: drive, but I can't find any progams by those names.
Can someone tell me what I should look for, and where/how do I uninstall these files?
I am a novice and would appreciate your help in simple language. Thank you very much!
What you have is a rogue malware. Get the free Malwarebytesand scan. During installation, you will see one already ticked box (trial) enabled. Just uncheck that.

Compaq Presario F572us upgraded to Windows 7 home premium 64-bit
I just upgraded my F572us of HP Vista to Win 7 HP and want to update my memory of 2 GB. What type of cards and how much GB? In addition, Windows has done some major update, but how do I know if all drivers have been updated to include the BIOS?
Lol worst case he doesn't POST. It can also just be a bit unstable, so if you get 3 or 4 to work for POST to go and do something requiring as a game to see if it bluescreens or something. should no permanent damage and if it's unstable just fall back to the next level.

Hello
My personal opinion is that you buy a more recent machine as Vista Basic came on machines that have the material basis for it requirements.
Depends on hardware configuration required on later operating systems, and also find out if the manufacturer of the laptop computer is supported and provides drivers for operating systems later as to whether it is possible or feasible to upgrade or not.
There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.
Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.
Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.
Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.
If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.
Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Follow these steps before buy you and upgrade (new installation) of Windows 8.1.
Microsoft sells more than 8/8.1.
Try Amazon.com, etc.
Check if the manufacturer of your computer/laptop has Windows 8.1 drivers available for your model.
If this is not available, Windows 8.1 not install and work properly for you.
There is a lot of information in this first link from Microsoft:

Hello
I use sony vaio VGN-FW290 JTH. I tried to upgrade to Windows 7 and has been invited to uninstall iTunes, Vaio Care, ATI Catalyst Install Manager, ATI Catalyst Control Center, Google Toolbar. I uninstalled it, rebooted the PC and then tried to run Windows 7 installation DVD. Then, I realized that my CD/DVD/BD does not, marked with! in the Device Manager. I tried the procedure in this forum to the http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistahardware/thread/957a26d4-4219-4b76-8e89-2e74e6ee2a0e/. The properties for the device say: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39):
I hope someone from Microsoft or Sony can help - I think that it is catch 22 during the upgrade to Windows 7.

TomgoldHi tomgold,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.
This can also occur if an incorrect device driver has been installed for the DVD-ROM device.
I suggest that you visit the DVD drive manufacturer site download the latest drivers for the drive and install on the computer and if it works. Make sure you download the Windows vista 64-bit driver.

Upgrades from Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit to Win 7 Professional 64 bit
I have Windows Vista Premium 32 bit OS on a system Dual Core 2.8 ghz with 8 GB ram and upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit OS. I did the system compatibility check and it says I can upgrade to this version. He said not if I need to format or whatever it is. I have to format it completely on my C: drive to install this?
Hello
You cannot switch from 32-bit to 64-bit operating systems
they are completely different operating systems
to be done with a clean install
and even there the windows 7 pro is a 32-bit version of vista family premium to windows 7 Professional is NOT an upgrade path
read the upgrade paths:
http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772579 (WS.10) .aspx
and if you need additional information Windows 7 try windows forums 7 on the link below

Cannot upgrade Vista Home Premium Vista Ultimate 64-bit
I have a computer with an OEM Vista Home Premium 64-bit version installed. I bought Vista Ultimate Upgrade 64-bit and when I try to upgrade instead of clean install I not give me the option to upgrade. Instead, I can install a clean install and lose all programs, settings, I have on my system that has taken a lot of time. Why the copy I bought directly from the microsoft.com site does not my upgrade, even if it is the version upgrade of Vista? I want to be able to do things such as distance to this computer and the Premium version does not allow me.
Thank you for all the advice and help.
Make sure that you do not have 64-bit installed.
On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.
Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have install.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/948537
"How to uninstall Windows Vista service packs"
If the OS installed Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 1 upgrade disk > uninstall SP2 installed operating system > install the upgrade > reinstall SP2.
And run the upgrade of a Vista operating system.
See you soon.

The upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
Hi Gang!
I have a laptop HP625 I want to upgrade. There on the motherboard processor Dual-Core AMD Athlon II 9340 (2200 Mhz, 2 carrots, 2 logical processors), and I installed 8 GB of Ram. I used the Windows Upgrade Advisor, and he indicated that he was a good fit. Something weird or issues that I could keep in mind this clean installation of Windows 7 32 bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit? I also use Carbonite for my backup. Reason why I'm doing this is to allow the laptop to be able to work with higher end audio/video editing software.
Respectfully,.
Tim
You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.
Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.
Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.
http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/
You must also create a system image before migrating:
http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/24/how-to-backup-your-installation-of-Windows-7/
Boot from the Windows 764 bit DVD
Click Install now
Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)
Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.
You will receive the following warning:
The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK
The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.
Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
