upgrade with vista disc

I tried to install linux with a dual boot, but instead, windows has disappeared.   Now when I try to use the upgrade, I had for windows xp to vista, it won't work because it can't find the old version of windows.  What should I do?

You do not have a clean install with an upgrade disc.

Reinstall XP 1 > then go to Vista.

See you soon.

  • Can I use a key to upgrade Windows 7 32 - bit for the upgrade to Vista 64 - bit, 7 64-bit, with a 64-bit upgrade disc?

It's a bit complicated, but I appreciate all help.

    I have the following:
    1. access to a genuine copy of Windows Vista 64-bit (regardless of the version I want) through IEEE Computer Society.
    2. a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit upgrade disc purchased through a program of student software in 2010. Shortly after using the disk and the key, the laptop I was using died due to hardware problems.
    3. a drive to upgrade Windows 7 Professional 32 - bit bought via the same pattern of student software, including an unused key.
Student software system only allows users to buy a copy of each version, so I can't buy it simply another copy of the 64-bit version.
I wonder if it is possible to use the key of the 32-bit version with the version 64-bit upgrade disk to upgrade a 64 bit Windows Vista installation to Windows 7? If this is not the case, unfortunately, I'll be stuck with Vista.

    Hi Paldor

Windows 7 Professional 32 bit product key will attempt to activate the Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installation. The only condition, in this case, is that the (Professional) edition is the same.

The Vista installation disc is a DVD. Apparently, you don't have a DVD player. You would need to purchase/install a DVD-ROM or DVD - RW to install Vista. Are you sure that your hardware supports Vista before doing this?

    To reinstall Vista:

You can not legally do a clean install of Vista with a Vista Upgrade disk/license.

Reinstall XP > then go to Vista.

Here's a startup repair disk, you can do:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

  • Win 8 upgrade with a hard drive in Vista

I have computer with 64-bit, 16 gig of ram and Win7 installed with a purchase of Win8 upgrade, I want to install my current hard drive which has Vista Ultimate, Win8 allows this and recognize or even switch to Win8?

    Hello

You buy a new windows 7 computer that you will upgrade to Windows 8 (which has not been released yet)?

You have a current computer with Vista Ultimate?

You want to take the drive with Vistal ultimate about it and put it in the new computer?

If Vista Ultimate came preinstalled (Dell, Acer, HP, etc.), it is an OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license is tied to the computer for the life of that computer and dies when he dies.

If the Vista Ultimate is a license to retail that has been bought and installed by yourself, you can transfer the license to another computer.

But it can only be installed on a computer at any time.

And when you move that hard disks with an operating system already installed, you normally find that they will not start until the hard disk contains the drivers for the motherboard "old."

A clean install is normally required.

  • I have a comp with windows Vista Home Basic 2007 Office. Can I upgrade to vista home premium? too many things are not compatible with windows 7.

This upgrade to vista family premium is still available? is this useful? How much would it cost?

    * I just did a full factory restore, which helped.

but when I reinstalled the operating system, it wouldn't let me put in the same primary place on drive C?

I had to put it in a secondary partition and it saved a lot of old stuff and labeled "old windows"?

I do not understand why it does this. is there something in the old system files I need?

cause the entire purpose of the restoration was to get rid of all that. now, I have essentially 2 copies taking up room.

because he saved much of the old system files, there's no enough space in the main square.

Do you think I can manually remove the "old windows" copy C drive without doing any harm to the computer?

I did enter and delete all of the photos and docs & downloads which he recorded, that I didn't, with no negative consequences.

but it still has a lot of program/file system I fear not remove.i shouldn't need them... right?

everything I need should be there since the operating system reinstalled, I just did?

    Help?

    Marc Zanyk

By all means delete the windows.old folder.  Use disk cleanup.  You will find a box to check the detached, although it will not be called "windows.old" specifically.

It seems that your computer has a recovery partition.  You would not be able to install.

As for Home Premium, Yes, you can switch to HP.  If you can still find a copy.  Vista Express upgrade is no longer available since Vista is no longer available at a retailer.  However, you can find a copy on eBay.  Make sure you buy a retail copy and not an OEM copy.  You will not be able to update an OEM copy.  No matter if the copy of detail you find is a copy of full or upgrade license.  You'd still be able to do an upgrade in place with one or the other.
