Upgrading memory Portege Z30-B-113

Hello

I can't find any tutorials on the internet nor in the Toshiba docs on how to open my laptop.
I would spend from 8 to 16 GB.

I found a lot of screws on the bottom of things, but it seems that there are more under the plastic feet. The problem is I don't want to damage them and I would like a manual to see how to go down feet correctly to be able to remove these screws...

Kind regards

The point why Toshiba provides no such manual is simply:
The memory in this model of laptop is not user part extensible.

This means that remove it any cover in order to get access to the memory locations would negate the warranty.
I think that's not risk it is useful...

To keep the warranty to be valid, the upgrade must be performed by authorized technicians.

I checked the specifications of your mobile device, and it should have 4 GB inside.
In any case it can be upgraded to 8 GB upwards then maybe you should buy a module with 4 GB and put a former module as the second RAM. One day, you can put second 4 GB of RAM and the use of RAM possible maximum with your Satellite T230-113.

  • Upgrade memory Portege S100

    Hello

On the product page of toshiba for Toshiba Portege S100, it says that the maximum capacity of the laptop RAM is 2 GB. So I bought 2 GB of RAM for installation. However, there is only one slot available to increase the RAM (I think).

The RAM that I got is a 256 MB module, and since my laptop has 512 MB of RAM, there must be another crack also. (After installing one of the 1 GB modules, I now 1.25 GB of RAM)

How to install a 1 GB of RAM?
    Thank you

    Hello

usually, if a machine has 2 expansion slots, then the other must be under the keyboard. So, if you want to install the other, try to look under the keyboard.
But be careful: If you are not familiar with the disassembly of machines and if you have still warranty on machine to you, it would be better to give your machine a technician for the exchange of memory.

If you can't risk a voiding your warranty if you still have it and you won´t run the risk of damaging your portege.

  • Upgrade memory Portege R500-100 for Windows 7

I would like to move from XP to Windows 7. The recommended RAM size is 2 GB. My R500 is equipped with 2 x 512 MB RAM modules. The manual says I can replace it with a 1 GB module. My question is if I can replace it by a 2 GB (or even 4 GB) module instead? If not, is it possible to change the module on the main Board, or which is fixed?

    Thanks for your help.

In my view, that there is another problem. According to specification for laptop, your laptop can handle with max 1 536 MB so I think it does not make sense to change the internal memory if value max is 1 536 MB only.

  • Portege Z30 & R30 - notice to owners + question about SSD upgrade

HI - need some advice please.

I am looking to replace a laptop existing and have narrowed down the choice to a Portege R30 or Z30.

There are owners out there with a view on another machine? I read all the comments: this is the point of view of any beneficial owners I'm after. Reliability, ease of use in particular. Has anyone replaced a battery on a Z30? That sort of thing.

There is a lot of money for me to spend - so I would really appreciate the help.

Having said that I'm torn between the two models - I'm leaning a little towards the Z30 - but the standard SSD is too small. I am aware that the SSD is mSATA and which does not limit what he can be replaced by. I'm a big fan of the EVO series - and there's an mSATA SSD available in sizes up to 1 TB.

Although there is not much information online - it was suggested that the current BIOS on the Z30 does not recognize mSATA SSD more than 512 MB.

    Can anyone confirm this?

    Thanks a lot, a lot.

Unfortunately, I m not Portege Z30 owner but I want to share my knowledge on this unit.
The Portege Z30 upgrade is a little tricky.
First to get access to the battery and the memory modules and mSATA low cover should be removed.

This means that you lose the warranty if you remove this cover.
I guess that it s not worth the warranty having such expensive unit.

By the way: models are equipped with a type mSATA ' Solid State Drive (SSD) "128 GB/256/512 GB
But this does not mean that the biggest mSATA modules are not supported. To be honest, this detail isn't known to me, but I think that the controller should be able to handle larger sizes too.

    Hello

I am wanting to upgrade a laptop Toshiba-Portege-z30-a-10w of company SSD 128 to 512 SSD
However when loading windows 7, it crashes when connecting with a blue screen error 0x00000001

The SSD 512 that I use is

    and according to the
    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/compat...Tege-Z30-a-10W

It is compatible with the Toshiba portege-z30-a-10w
I've updated the BIOS of the laptop to V4 30/04/2015 (which to my knowledge is the most recent)
    http://www.Toshiba.co.UK/innovation/...jsp?service=UK
Moreover I have updated the firmware on the SSD 512 to what, in my view, is the last
    MU02 version
    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/support-SSD
However I still get the same problem with Windows 7 to break with a blue screen just before the opening of the session.

    All ideas

    Thank you
    David

I've never managed to install Windows 7... but I installed Windows 8 and goes on well...

I have no why, but install Windows 8 seems to allow the 512 SSD to use

    Hope it will be useful.

  • Upgrade memory on Portege 4010

I want to upgrade my memory Portege 4010 and I know that I need 144 pins/PC133 SO - DIMM SD - RAM. Unfortunately I couldn't understand (in the same after talking to the Toshiba Austria), if I have to buy memory may be high or low density.

Most of the memory at low prices on eBay is high density and I'm afraid to buy an incompatible.

I hope that someone already has experience with it. It seems to be my last chance to get some relevant information.

    Thank you.

As I remember for Portege 4010 maximum memory is 1 GB (2 x 512 MB) and no matter if you choose the version high or low density.
If you need 100% guarantee you choose the version of low density.

  • Satellite L100 113 starts slowly after upgrade memory

    Hello

Toshiba Satellite L100 113 PSLA3E-02401JRU starts slowly after upgrade memory with Kingston KTT533D2-512 (512 MB) of memory.
When I press the 'power' button, it flashes, starts the fans and HARD drive several times. Then it shows BIOS start messages by memory full 768 MB and starts Windows XP without a problem.
This behavior is noticed only after "shut down."
It does not happen with "restart".
What can I do to eliminate this long "attempts" to start my laptop computer?

    Thank you

    Hello

This problem appears before upgrade memory?
Have you used exactly the same memory modules?
If this isn't the case, then perhaps there are a few compatibility issues.

Usually, after the insertion of the modules you must enter the BIOS and then save the settings. Please it and eventually the laptop will start without any problems.

  • Portege 3500 - upgrade memory

Necessary upgrade memory for a p3500. 'Expert' advised two sticks of 512 MB PC133, but on opening the rear of the location that a laptop computer and on the insertion of the new RAM it gives an error code beep. Is there than a single slot? and if so what maximum capacity and what type of RAM will it take?

    Hi Jeffrey,.

As far as I know the 3500 Series provided with a removable module of RAM of 128 MB, 256 MB or 512 MB depending on what model and specifications you purchased. There is one other remaining slot for expansion purposes.

The total support for the 3500 Series RAM is 2 GB and the type of RAM should be SODIMM PC133 144 pins.

It is important that you match the RAM modules that your RAM module existing (one removable) is of the same type you new RAM module. Of course, you can always delete the original from the RAM and insert two new modules of RAM instead.

Please check the following URL for more information on the available RAM module type.

    Hello!

This problem may occur if you add the memory (RAM) to the computer when it is in hibernation.

When the computer comes out of hibernation mode and load the file Hiberfil.sys, Microsoft Windows detects the change in the State of the memory, and then you receive the error message.

To resolve this issue, restart your computer.

If the problem persists, start the computer by using an emergency boot disk, and then delete the Hiberfil.sys file.

  • Portege Z30-A-183 - data Erase finger finger

    Hello

    I have a Portege Z30-A-183.
First of all, I used it with W7 and I recorded 3 fingers in the biometric fingerprint sensor.

After that I updated to W8.1 but I have not deleted the scanned data of the fingers.

W8.1 I haved comand to again record the data of my fingers, but the software says that it is not possible beacause in the memory of the sensor data of my fingers.

I have haved read that these data are in a non-volatile memory on the sensor.

How can I erase that data?

    Thank you

    Hello

Yes fingerprint information is not saved on the hard drive (HDD) on your computer, but on some the chip.

Usually the imprint must be removed using the utility of fingerprints, but if this does not work after the installation of the new operating system, I recommend you go back to the previous state before changing the system and use the fingerprint software which has been used for the registration of fingerprints.

    Details here:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/support/items/FAQ/386

But where the fingerprint would not work even using the version of Win 7, I think that this only Toshiba authorised service provider would be able to remove fingerprints already recorded.

  • Portege Z30-A-1FL no longer lights

    Hello world

My Portege Z30 almost nine no longer starts. There is only a single flashing bright white - one for DC/battery - but other than that: nothing happens :(

    What can I do?
Thanks for your help and your support.
    BA

    Sorry to hear that

Portege Z30 is very nice, good looking for Ultrabook and as far as I know the laptop battery isn't removable t s. So the work around common that remove battery and pressing/holding the power button 30 sec long isn t possible.

In any case, I guess that s portable began to hurt function and localization of the fault will not be very easy. The mobile engineer would generally use a special and software diagnostic test to know what could be the problem exactly.

From my point of view the question could be linked to the memory problem or malfunction of the motherboard and I guess that both parties should be checked for possible problems.

  • Re: Portege Z30 - A - Bios update 3, 80-WIN using Win 7 64 bit

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Portege Z30 - A
Maybe someone was able to perform the bios upgrade in windows 7 64 bit?

    @tomek_1

May I ask if you get an error message trying to update the BIOS?
The downloaded BIOS package contains the exe to 3, 80 - WIN_ECB1.40.
It is also a zipped folder. You can unzip the file using WinRAR or WinZip software.

After that, you will get 16 files. I found the AutoExec file that seems to be the file that starts the BIOS update procedure.
