How they detect USB enumeration in LabVIEW? I want to detect when a USB device is connected.

SIDD,

the bottom of the vi command window is a Boolean value to run the minimized window.

  • Audio playback USB and device names record - the enumeration of devices, device INF file or required device driver?

My gadget usb audio has two "playback devices" and a "recording device".

It works with the usbaudio.sys driver, but I want to give each channel separate namespaces.

I found a way in windows 7 to rename the audio device using UI actions (right click, properties, etc.), but I want to do it via usb enumeration, instead of requiring the user to do.

USB enumeration has a "output terminal device", which has different categories of devices, but these don't map with different names.

  • What is the best/better way to reenumerate USB ports from a script? I need to emulate the same enumeration that occurs when a USB device is either plugged or unglugged to a USB port.

I'm working on a network to restrict access to the ISSO role USB mass storage, only. Management wants to access USB Mass Storage for ISSOs on all workstations while blocking access to USB mass storage to all others... on all the workstations. They also want to that USB ports remain available for everything except Mass Storage.

There are many ways to do it, but the only 'reliable' method, I found so far is to point the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\UBSSTOR\ImagePath key to some fake file to block ports and rename it back to access it again.

To do this, I need to do things more two 2...

    1. make sure that the ImagePath key always has the false value at startup, and

    2. create a login script that affects the ImagePath value when a member of the ISSO group connects... and reset it when they log off.

Which meet the requirements of the direction if only it worked! The problem is that USB devices must be listed again to re-read the ImagePath registry key after each change. Reconnect the device will do, but it would be unwise to rely on a user to restrict access (fox/Coop).

The following Microsoft KB seems to be the way to go, but we do not have compilers on the network...

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/259695

I know that this hack to the system is not the most elegant, but I'm just trying to make the management happy.

    Nobody knows...

    1. any (more elegant) way to meet the specified requirement, or

    2. a way to re - enumerate USB devices from a script.

    Thank you! ... Todd

  • A100-529: OTG database does not work on USB ports

    Hello.
I bought my laptop a few days ago and I have already problem.
I've got OTG Databank with HARD drive (it is Apacer ShareSteno CD211 with 20 GB IBM travel... Disc).

    And here's my problem:
Computer cannot start this database. When I plug it in, notice of Windows it is a new device, install driver and... bah! There is nothing aside.
No new system disk. And when I look in Device Manager there is a "!" next to the data bank and error called "Code 10".

I found some information, it happens because the USB port does not provide enough energy for the data bank. So I bought a cable that can be plugged into 2 USB ports, so it takes more power from the 2nd port. But it does not work too!

I'm quite sure, data bank is fuly operational because it works with at least 2 other computers laptops and desktop computers 3.
    Could someone help me?

    Hello

According to Microsoft, the "error code 10" page if the device has a FailReasonString value in its tone hardware, the string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator places this registry string value there. If there is no FailReasonString in the hardware key, you receive the following error message:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    Recommended resolution
Device was able to start. Click Update driver to update the drivers for this device. On the tab General properties of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.

Ps: It's only a piece of Microsoft, but if the USB device is unable to work because of the low power, you should check if it works with the external USB hub that supports an external electric power supply

  • Empty Device Manager and for error message "cannot create the enumerated device root need to install Parallels paravirtualization pilot".

    Original title: Device Manager empty

I have Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed in a Bootcamp partition on my Intel iMac. I can detect and install new hardware such as USB keys. However, the Device Manager window is blank - how can I get the window to display the devices connected to the computer? I am also unable to install Parallels tools when I use Bootcamp as a virtual machine. The error message "cannot create the 'root-enumerated device' necessary to install Parallels Paravirualization driver.

    Hey Harcjk,

For your first question, go through this article.

None of the items appear in the device list manager when you open
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/311504

For the second question, here are some suggestions:

Method 1: Uninstall & install Parallels tools

NOTE: we highly recommend you make a backup of the virtual machine before you continue.

    a. start your virtual machine and cancel the installation of Parallels Tools Wizard.

    b. Click Start--> Panel--> Add / Remove programs and remove the Parallels tools in the list of applications.

    c. restart Windows.

    d. install the Parallels tools by clicking on the Virtual Machine--> install the Parallels Tools.

    Method 2: Uninstall antivirus software

If the problem persists, try the following:

Temporarily uninstall all the antivirus software to the virtual machine and repeat steps of the "Uninstall & install Parallels Tools" section above.

Note: Don't forget to install the back antivirus software, once the problem is resolved.

Method 3: Uninstall, clean & install Parallels tools

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following windows Help article.

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows XP

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756

    a. If the problem persists, try the following:

    b. start Windows.

    c. go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall theParallels Tools if it is present.

    d. go to 'my computer' > 'C' drive > "Program Files" > "Parallels" folder and delete the "Parallels Tools" folder, if present.

    e. click the Windows 'Start' menu-> 'run' and type 'regedit'. Click OK.

    f. in the registry editor, go to "My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Parallels" and delete the heading "Parallels Tools" and go to "My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Parallels" and remove the 'Tools' section.

    g. restart Windows.

    h. now install Parallels tools in the 'VM' menu on the Parallels Desktop menu bar, while Windows is running.

    I hope this helps.

  • Media Player 12 does not recognize removable media (drive letters, sd cards, compact flash, usb, android phones drives) as a synchronized device. Running under 7 64-bit.

Tried and tried to make it work. According to announcements of Microsoft on removable media, you can synchronize however every time I try to get Media Player 12 to sync it search devices and just empty. I have connected devices and they have drive letters in Windows Explorer. I even clicked on the link 'open as a portable device' in Windows Explorer and then went back to media player and it doesn't. I can open whatever music is on the device in the file menu in media player. In mp 11 I could synchronize throughout the day with my removable devices. I just thought they had disabled this feature until I read that you're supposed to be able to do. I connected my Samsung Captivate as memory mass and tried as well, but obviously missed. I plugged as an MTP device and in Windows Explorer, the Autoplay option is "Sync digital media files to this device using Windows Media Player". So I think this will be a safe work, I try several times, restart the computer and the phone. Recognized again in Windows Explorer, everything seems like there should be no driver issue, but Media Player still does not recognize my camera! Help!

Update: I left a removable USB enclosure to connect for three years and a half hours. I've forgotten about it with media player running, came back and noticed, it was listed as a device in media player. So it looks like you could synchronize this right? FAKE! I dragged music to synchronize with it and the sync button is grayed. A lot of space on the device. Well, what about MP now recognizes the drive, I'll unplug the unit and then plug it back in and maybe will correct some glitch MP knows. Wrong again! New MP can't find the device! I thought that software/computers were supposed to get faster not taking 3.5 hours to connect a device and then maybe someday in the future, you can synchronize your device. But at this point don't still no luck. I just thought that Microsoft has decided to get rid of the features within the MP to synchronize removable devices because I could never get this far until reading last night it is supposed to work with key cards, usb sd and removable media. After having no luck in getting MP to reconnect to my USB stick, I erased the cache device thinking that would help, but no, he didn't.

Another update: when I connect my phone as a MTP device, AutoPlay rises and there is an option to synchronize with Windows Media Player. When I click on this option, MP opens and then said: "searching for devices" and never find the "SGH-I897" (Samsung Captivate). Anyway if I go up as mass storage or the DPW Windows device sees and I can move the files, but cannot get the Media Player to find it or recognize it! It should be simple enough for where Windows Media Player should be.

It worked for me, once put into automatic I clicked on the Start button and the rebooted enumerator. I restarted WMP and there was my flash drive in the synchronization domain.

    Thank you!!

  • Key USB and Windows 7 Home premium

My laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium.  Bought a new stick of memory: Kingston DT101 G2 16 GB USB2.  When I connect it to the USB port makes it sound, I get a small icon memory stick right background, if I go to devices and printers he recognizes her as a generic "USB 2.0 Data Traveller" and if I take that he recognises that he is gone.  HOWEVER! It came not my thing I can save in. When I look on properties it comes up with three sections:

    Kingston (UMBus enumerator location)

Kingston Data Traveler 2.0 USB Device (USB Mass Storage Device location)

USB mass storage device (location Port_ #0001.Hub_ #0008)

When I right click to browse the files it is shaded on.  within days old (!) I would have changed the drive but I don't seem to be able to do.

    Help, please!

Connect the player to a Linux machine, open disk utility and reformat the drive in FAT format.  It's crapware on the drive of Kingston and Windows Defender or your antivirus software blocks the function of the training because of the behavior of the crapware.

  • USB Device Driver Code 37 Init Failure

I have a device driver kernel mode for a particular item of equipment that is installed as part of an .msi package. When the device is connected to a physical machine, the driver installs and is usable, and everything looks good in Device Manager. VMWare Workstation 6.0 or VMWare Fusion 8.1.0, however, the driver initialization fails; Device Manager the device with a caution on the badges and watch icon a device status of 'Windows cannot initialize the device of this hardware driver. (Code 37) ».

I am aware of things that can cause this, such as a bad driver signed, but I've not seen elsewhere behave differently on a physical hardware compared to a virtual machine. I know that the USB port is listing the device, I can see the configuration of the device in USBView. A breakpoint set on the driver with WinDbg DriverEntry() function does not, and the driver does not see when the loaded modules are listed, so it does not appear that loading the device driver.

I'm a little confused here. It is very reproducible on several systems running Windows 7 x 64 (I'll try for other operating systems as well to see if that makes a difference). I tried both USB 1.1 and 2.0 compatibility (the device is USB full speed). What a difference a virtual machine can make between the enumeration of devices and the device driver loading? Any thoughts?

    Thank you

    Dave

Problem solved by my colleague, who is responsible for the installer. It turns out we were building our driver with KMDF 1.7 but specifying 1.9 in the file INF. building the driver with KMDF 1.9 fixed. There is some mystery here as to why he acted differently on a virtual machine on a physical computer, but for now we are just pleased to put the matter behind us.

  • USB disabled after the update of the Sierra (a short circuit and a work)

Hi, when I bought my mbp 13 inches mid2012 (used, not new) I noticed that a USB port did not work. In the Yosemite sometimes I noticed that a USB port consumed too much energy and have been disabled. (I think because the usb port has been short-circuited. Year when it was time to update the mbp to El Capitan I had a few panic the kernel and the newspaper was shown as the last driver loaded the USB driver, so I kept the mbp with Yosemite. A few days ago, I updated for Sierra but only usb which used to work stopped working. It has enabled and turned on but Finder and disk utility does not see the drive. In an Apple dealer they said that could be established relationships with some oxide and next week will take it and see what the problem is.

If there is someone with the same problems, please tell me what to do! I don't want to put in the trash my mac just for a flash drive... but I need!

    Hi Supermene,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. Based on what you said, it appears as a USB device is not recognized in one of the USB ports. There are a few things that can cause this. I recommend you read these articles, which may be able to help solve the problem.
