USB PORT not responding

Microsoft Surface RT

My mouse USB port no longer responds to my Flash DRIVE and other USB - this is insensitive. All seems normal in Device Manager and I have tried to uninstall and restart as suggested on some forums who has had no effect. I tried to restore the computer, but I need to make room for 5 GB and without being able to offload stuff for my USB which is practically impossible without wiping everything on my shelf Please HELP!

Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

I understand that the USB port doesn't work on your computer. The question may arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows. This can also occur if your USB controllers may have become unstable or corrupt. There might be a chance that the USB port is corrupted or damaged.

First of all, I suggest you to check the issue in different ports. If the problem persists, I suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists.

Method 1:

Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.

If method 1 does not work, try Method 2.

Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

  1. Open Device Manager by pressing the Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
  3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
  4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
  5. Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

If the problem persists, go to method 3.

Method 3:

Disable USB selective suspend framework. This method prevents your power off USB device.

  1. Press Windows key + Q, type of power management in the search box, and then click choose a power plan.
  2. Next to your currently selected plan, click Change Plan settings.
  3. Click change advanced power settings.
  4. Click in the box USBsettings, and then expand the USB selective suspend settings.
  5. Click on the area, and then click the menu drop down and select disabled.
  6. If you use a laptop, click the cell, and then click the menu drop down and select disabled.
  7. Click apply, and then click OK.

In addition to this I suggest update you also the USB drivers from the link provided below and see if that helps update you the drivers or not.

Download and install the drivers

Please let us know the results. Do not hesitate to write back for any further assistance with Windows, we will be happy to help you.

Kind regards

I have a Satellite P10-304 and the USB ports not recognize anything that are attached to them. Device Manager tells me that they are enbaled and works correctly. What can be wrong with them or what can I do?

    Hello

One of my friends has the same unit on the work and everything works perfectly. It uses the USB hub too and have many external devices connected to the unit.

By the way: something like who can occur if the external device is not removed correctly use safely remove hardware option. If you try to connect any other device after that in most cases it is not recognized at all. In this case, you can restart the device or remove ports from the Device Manager and use the hardware detection to find them again.

  • Satellite Pro L10-103 - USB ports not working not

Hi, my Satellite Pro L10 - 103 USB Ports do not work. I tried different things and finally my Advisor rubbed my computer clean of all programs and operating system. After reloading of the set up disc and having lost my dear some programs I am no further forward. It still does not.

Anyone know if this means that it is a mechanical problem with the computer? (I use Windows XP). Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

As wrote Akuma did you use the Toshiba Recovery disk or the Microsoft Windows disk?

After installing XP, make sure that Service Pack 3 is installed. It contains important updates and can be downloaded on the official page of Toshiba.

In addition, try to remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager, restart the computer. Ports will still be recognized and ready to use once.

    Hello
I have a Satellite Pro C650 - 18 d on which USB ports are dead.
So far, I've updated the chipset and BIOS - but they stay dead. It doesn't seem to be a power either. I have a USB key with LED and it does not light.

    Hi Jim

I recommend you to reinstall the OS and test the feature with the factory settings. Please, test it with several different USB devices. If none of them works, you must contact the Toshiba service provider in your country and leave check s portable.

Do you know how to find the addresses and phone numbers?

  • Dynadock USB Ports not working not

I have a Toshiba Dynadock (unfortunately I do not know the model number I can't). It is less than a year and has two USB ports in the front, with 2 Sockets (I guess that one of the earphones and a microphone), has 4 ports usb at the back and probably a DVI/HDMI port as well.

The problem is that none of the USB ports work on it, you plug a USB device into one of the ports and Windows 7 does not detect something that is attached. It was working fine until recently, and then the printer started to play up by printing only a few lines in a document that you asked to print, and then after that nothing worked (I don't think that the printer is at the origin).

When I reassembled the eject button on the dock, Windows recongonises ejection and hot flashes with the software Dynadock saying "Dynadock has been ejected" or similar.

The computer is a Toshiba. I reinstalled the drivers, made a restore to a date when I heard he was working and have restarted the dock, but nothing worked so far. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello.

I have a problem with my Satellite M30-106. One day, the system froze (Windows XP with SP2) during the passage of the machine off. I was forced to keep the button "power" for a while in order to close the system. However, since all 3 USB ports do not work.

The system does not recognize the "" them. I can't see in Device Manager. I tried to reinstall the system, but it did not help.

Can someone help me, pelase =)

    Hello

It looks like a hardware problem. At whatever it is connected to the USB ports at the time? Could you check the USB ports visually and see if they are damaged or wobbly. It is a bit of a long shot, but you may have a short circuit decision and which could disable the USB.
If the motherboard is damaged then outside fixing/replace your only option would be a PCMCIA USB card, they are not expensive.

  • Spectrum of HP 13-v013tu: USB port not working not not the spectrum 13

Hello.  I bought the HP 13-v013tu a few months ago spectrum and in general the laptop works very well.  However, I noticed that 3 C type USB ports in the back, one of them do not work.  The USB port for the electrical connection to the right is fine, but the two in the Middle, one of them work.  Who does not work does not recognize or even to send power what it is connected (for example, the mobile phone, the external hard drive, load wireless mouse).

I checked the Device Manager and see nothing wrong in the USB options.  Even the option of power management to allow the computer to turn off the device has been disabled.

Can anyone help? Is this a hardware problem?

    Thank you.

USB - C for USB 3 adapter supplied with the laptop you are using? If it works in 2 of the three ports, then the logical conclusion is that the third part is bad. You can actually power the laptop of one of the Thunderbolt-C/USB ports (I have one of these laptops) in order to try in the port which is giving you issues and if he does not have the power, then you have a dead port which will require the replacement of the motherboard.

    Hello

Try resetting the USB ports. This means that you need to remove the USB ports/hubs/controllers in Device Manager.
Then, you have to restart the laptop to get new USB ports.
In my case it has worked.

By the way; I recommend upgrading the chipset driver and disable the feature for each energy-saving usb port.
This can be done in the Device Manager-> port USB-> properties-> tab to save energy

    Hi - I have a portable series of P10, PSP10E-0RCJM-EN.

Don't know when or how this can happen, but none of my USB ports work integrated.
They are all recognized and installed when you look in the Windows Device Manager.

I am running Win XP Home Edition with SP2 and latest drivers and BIOS downloaded from the Toshiba web site.
I had the hope that it might be a simple device or a driver of motherboard problem, but does not appear.

Using a card PCMCIA USB works very well, but uses only one card slot that I need for other purposes.

    Anyone has more suggestions please?
I hope you can help, impatience of someone soon!

    Hello

Try to remove all the ports from the Device Manager.
Then try to restart the device. After this procedure, the operating system should recognize and install again the USB ports.
It would be very interesting to know if the ports are working properly after this new facility.

I have a HP Pavilion 17-g192dx that's installed with Windows 10 factory. Not wanting to give up the new machine, I decided to bring it back and oldie but a goodie - Windows 7. I'm not as interested to get back to Windows 10. It is too slow for daily use (ma) and buggy.
